20. Restraint

Dad locked three of us in his office while he talked with Mr. Whittemore. Allison called us to tell  that she found out the Kanima doesn't seek a friend, it seeks a master. Then we started discussing why Jackson doesn't know that he is a Kanima, and that someone is controlling him. We figured that maybe like Lydia he also goes in a fugue stage. Then we decided that we would convince him that he is a Kanima and that someone is controlling him, and when Allison doubted if Jackson would talk to us after what we did, Stiles and Scott were pretty confident that he will, but minutes later Dad called us in the interrogation room and we were informed that we had a 50 feet restraining order from Jackson due to which we legally cannot talk to him. 

After Dad finished reading the order Scott and I were very ashamed, but Stiles was his usual self pointed out that we all go to same school. Dad told him that we can attend classes while maintaining distance of 50 feet, but then he went on about what would happen if they both had to go to the washroom at the same time and the only two stalls left are next to each other. I saw Dad's face so I punched Stiles on the arm and told him shut up. 

After this Dad took Stiles and me in the corner to yell at us. 

"Do I need to remind you how lucky we are that they're not pressing charges?" 

Stiles started arguing with him that what we did with Jackson was a joke, meanwhile, I just stood in the side quietly. As Stiles was still arguing Scott and Melissa also came out and as Dad she was also very mad at three of us. After a little more yelling we came out and saw Melissa grounding Scott, so we stood on the gate. Then as she was listing the things Scott couldn't get engage with, she ran out of things and turned and saw us, so, she said, 

"No Stiles and Ruth." 

Stiles moved forward asking how could she do that but she again yelled, 

"No Stiles and Ruth!" 

Melissa was genuinely worried about Scott, she asked him if all this was because of Allison. Scott sighed. Then she asked if this was about his father, Scott still didn't say anything, so she said that they will talk about this at home and she left to get the car. 

"I am the worst son ever."

Scott said, as he approached us. "Well, we're not exactly winning any prizes either." I said after looking at Mr. Whittemore yelling at Dad because of us.

The next day at school we all were hanging in the library when Allison came and passed her tab in the bookshelf for Scott. It had everything Lydia could translate about Kanima. Allison told us that Lydia was very confused while doing this, so Scott asked what excuse did she make, Allison told Lydia that we all were part of some online gaming community that battles mythical creatures. Scott and I laughed but Stiles looked at us and said that he was part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures. Scott and I stopped laughing and Allison became a little awkward. After that Scott asked that if this tells anything about how to find who's controlling Jackson, and Allison told us that it did not, but Stiles was right about the murderers. It calls the Kanima a weapon of vengeance. Then she told us a story about a South American priest who uses the Kanima to execute  murderers in his village, until the bond grew stronger that it killed whoever he wanted it to. Then she said the Kanima is actually supposed to be a werewolf, but it can't be until it resolves that in its past which manifested it.  "Okay, if that means that Jackson could use a few thousand hours of therapy, I could've told you that myself." I said and Stiles and I high fived about this and Scott glared at us. Then Allison asked what if it had something to do with his real parents. Then Allison suggested that she should go and talk to Jackson as she doesn't have any restraining order against him. Scott asked her what should he do meanwhile, so she reminded him of his make up exam. Then as Scott was telling Allison that she should run if Jackson do anything, anything bizarre...weird. But  then Stiles pushed his head in the self from where we were talking and said, 

"Anything Evil."

Allison just pushed him back and left. 

I went to my next class but Isaac was there, so I just turned from the door, but just as I turned he was standing in front of me, damn werewolf powers. I tried to ignore him as usual and go from there but the way he looked at me, it was impossible for me to move from there. We looked in each other's eyes for a while before we heard a group of kids coming our was Isaac turned, and in the moment I quickly slipped. I hated the kind of power he had over me. 

As I was walking I saw Erica and Stiles talking outside the boys locker room. I went to them but then suddenly the room opened and Jackson and Scott came out fighting and Allison came out scared. Erica removed Jackson from Scott and Stiles and I held Scott so that he doesn't go attacking him. Mr. Harris reached there and gave all of us detention.

After school ended, Mr. Harris called us in the library for our detention. Scott, Stiles, Erica and I sat on one table. Jackson, Allison and Matt on other, but then Jackson complained that he couldn't be in detention with us tools as he had a restraining order against us, so Mr. Harris made Scott, Stiles and I sit on the far away table. 

After sitting Scott said that he would kill Jackson, then Stiles and I reminded him that first we would find who is controlling him and then save him, but he said that Stiles was right before and we should kill him. 

"Hey. What if it's Matt? I mean, this whole thing comes back to the video, right?"

Stiles said, gaining our attention. "Danny said that Matt was the one who found the two hours of footage missing." I stated. 

"Exactly! He's trying to throw suspicion off himself."

Stiles said, but then Scott raised his head from the table and asked, 

"So he makes Jackson kill Isaac's Dad, one of Argent's hunters, and the mechanic working on your Jeep? Why?" 

Stiles was not able to make any connection of Matt with those murders. "You just don't like the guy." I said and Stiles agreed with me and said that he always bugs him, don't know why. Then Scott asked him if he had any other theories but Stiles was blank. Then Jackson stood up and went out of the room saying he needed water. Mr. Harris followed him and instructed us to not leave our seats but as soon as he stepped out we went and sat next to Erica. Scott asked her if it was true and she knows how Jackson's parents died. She then told us that it was a car accident and her Dad was the insurance investigator, and every time he sees Jackson drive by in his Porsche, he makes some comment about the huge settlement he'll be getting when he's 18. Then she told us that she could find the insurance report in her Dad's inbox. But as Erica opened her laptop, Scott was called in the Principal office.

After Scott was gone Stiles and I was sitting with Erica as she tried to find the report. I felt something was wrong, so I told Stiles that I was going to use the washroom, but then went looking for Scott. I saw him talking to Mrs. Argent and she was asking her if he and Allison were in any form of physical relation. Scott was panicking and was not able to say anything. I took out my phone and walked in there. "Hey babe, you forgot your phone inside and your mom was calling." I said kissing Scott on the cheek. He was surprised but then I whispered to him to follow my lead. "Is everything alright Mrs. Argent? Is my boyfriend in trouble?" I asked, interlocking my hands with Scott. 

"Oh nothing honey, I was just asking Scott if something was going on between him and Allison." 

She said smiling, I laughed and said, "Him and Allison, please that's history. After they broke up Scott was in pretty vulnerable place and I was helping him get out of it and that's when we realized that we had feelings for each other. But we are keeping it low profile as it's kind of a big deal for our families, as we were bestfriends for so long." 

"Oh, in that case all the best to you two, and you may leave." 

Mrs. Argent said and we left. As soon as we were sure that she couldn't see us anymore, I removed my hand from Scott's and he hugged me. 

"Oh my god, thanks a lot Rue. Even though this was very gross and disturbing I really appreciate you helping me like that." 

"Your welcome, Scotty. But dude, I almost barfed there too." I said, and we both laughed and went to the library.  

After reaching there, the first thing I did was to call Allison behind a book shelf and tell her that to save their lie, I told her mom and I was dating Scott. I was worried that she may become jealous or doubt us, but she was very comfortable and she thanked me for it. Soon Scott and Stiles also joined us. Then Stiles started telling us what he and Erica found out. Jackson was born after his mom died by C-section, they had to pull him out of her dead body. "So, was it an accident or not?" I asked feeling very bad for Jackson. Stiles informed us that the word all over the report is 'inconclusive.' Which meant his parents could have been murdered. Stiles said that if they were, then it falls in line with the Kanima myth. Scott then said that we have to talk to him and tell him but before we could stop him, he went. 

As Scott went to talk to Jackson we heard a loud thud and suddenly the roof started falling and so did the shelves. Stiles pulled me and Allison in his direction, so we wouldn't get hurt. He then made us sit and stood on top of us so that nothing falls on us. Then Jackson pushed Scott and paralyzed Erica. Scott stood up and sat in front of us in a protective way. We then saw Jackson in half Kanima form writing something on the black board. After he was finished writing we saw, 'Stay out of my way or I'll kill all of you' written on the board. Jackson then jumped out of the window. We all stood up and went near the board but then I saw Erica having a seizure, so I kneel before her took her in my arms to calm her down and called everyone, "Guys, I think she having a seizure again." 

Scott and Stiles came to help me with Erica while Allison checked on Matt. "We need to take her to the hospital." I said as I held her even tighter, but she said that she needed to see Derek and she kept repeating it. Allison encourage us to take Erica to Derek, but then Scott got up and went to her and said that he would be staying with her, but then Allison stated the obvious that it would be difficult for Stiles and me to take her on our own, and she needed to call an ambulance for Matt. "I can stay here with you." I said, and tried to get up and hand Erica to Stiles but she started crying and requesting that I stay with her and this time she was as vulnerable and genuine as she could be, so Allison said that she would be fine. Scott kissed Allison and came to us meanwhile I stood up and lifted Erica too and we all ran to the Jeep to take her to Derek. 

We went to Derek's place and after seeing him I handed Erica to him. He settled her down and told us to pull her up. I went and sat behind her so that she would get the support to sit. "Is she dying?" I asked and Derek said that she might, which is why what he was going to do was going to hurt. He then grabbed her arm and twisted it and Erica started screaming in pain. 

"You broke her arm." 

Stiles yelled at him and he told us that he did that so that her healing process triggers, but he still needed to get the venom out. And then he started tearing her arm, so that with blood, venom also comes out of her body. She started screaming more loudly, so I held her tightly. After a few minutes she started to get dizzy and started falling. I still held her in my arms and removed her hair which were going in her eyes. She looked up at me and said, 

"Ruth...like your brother, you also make a good Batman." 

After that she fainted. I sat there as she was still fainted in my arms, Stiles stayed with me but Scott went out to talk to Derek. 

"You were really strong today."

Stiles said caressing my hair. "And you were really selfless, and kind." I said smiling. He also smiled and then kissed my forehead and asked, 

"Are you sure, you're okay? Like not at all hurt."

"No, I am definitely good." I said and then we both waited for Scott to come and tell us how to proceed. Scott and Derek came after a while and Derek said that Isaac just arrived so they will take care of Erica and we can go. Shortly I saw Isaac come in and confused after seeing unconscious Erica in my arm. He kneeled before us and started caressing Erica's head and then he asked, 

"What the hell happened to her?"

"Don't worry, she is fine now." I said. Then I put Erica's head in his lap and stood up and left without looking back as I knew that it would just hurt me more.
