Chapter 39- No One Sees You Like I Do
06:36, 2 January 2015Hey guys I know I’ve haven't updated in almost a month but I really wanted to finish writing my other holiday story A Very Goode Christmas. It took longer to plan out and write than I originally anticipated and then I got sick and my cousins came over, it was this huge fiasco.
I do have some good news though. I have a week off towards the end of January which I will use to write at least 2 chapters for this story!!
The song on the side is Tell her you love her by Echosmith. There's this one line that reminds me of Zach and Cammie in the books.
Anyway I hope you guys like this chapter and thank you for your patience with my horrible updating schedule. Warning this chapter is not edited!!
Chapter 39-No one sees you like I do
Cammie pov
It felt so good to be in Zach's arms. I have to admit I was a little sad when he put me down. I kissed him on the lips pulling his head closer to mine. I didn't care that people were most likely staring or that we could get caught by a teacher.
We pulled apart, both slightly panting. “What was that for?” he asked me slipping his arm around my waist. I beamed up at him leaning into his touch. “Just for being you”
He kissed my temple before saying, "your too cute" I couldn't help but blush at his statement. He never ceases to surprise me.
I was brought out of our little bible when I finally heard whispering. I turned around when turned out to be a bad choice on my part.
People were staring at us. I thought it was just girls jealous that they couldn't be with Zach (because let's face it he is quite handsome). However there were also guys talking which struck me as odd.
I heard one of them say "I would have picked the other dude" I rolled my eyes at that comment.
Some of the things these people said were outrageous. I could have sworn I heard some girl say the only reason I was with Zach was because I was his cousin that his parents set him up with through an arranged marriage.
I really wanted to yell at them to mind their own business. I looked Zach who was still standing outside of my first class and from his facial expression I could tell he was annoyed too.
I intertwined our hands causing him to look at me. Then I said, "Forget them, they don't define our relationship" He nodded managing to crack a smile.
And on cue the majority of the female population gasped. I forgot most of them haven't seen him smile. It made me happy to know I was one of the first people to make him smile instead of smirk. Although his smirk is quite sexy...
"Let's go inside"I suggest to Zach who's more than willing to comply. I think we were both ready to give any excuse to get out of this uncomfortable situation.
Unfortunately Zach had to go to the guidance office first period so e could drop me off. I didn't mind that much since Macey and Bex were in my class.
I sat down in my usual seat at the front. Macey was already there dressed fashionably as always. Today she was wearing dark blue skinny jeans and a black chiffon shirt paired off with her favorite riding boots. She also wore a sapphire statement necklace that sparkled in the light whenever she moved.
Bex arrived a few minutes later as I was opening my binder. She was dressed as she normally does, her hair in a high ponytail and a casual outfit that made her look stunning.
"How are you feeling?" Macey asked when Bex claimed the chair next to me as hers. Surprisingly she was the first person to ask me how I was feeling since I walked into school. It turns out people care more about my love-life than my actual well being. Despite the fact that I was feeling fine it was nice of them to ask.
"I'm feeling much better thanks" I inform her running my shoulder.
"You really scared us" Macey told me. I nodded unable to answer her. "I'm sorry"
"We're just happy your ok now" Bex finished joining the conversation. Now that the orphans in the room was addresses she changed the subject.
"Now did Liz explain to you what we're going because I have no idea." I let out a laugh feeling more relaxed and comfortable.
Just then the late bell rings and half on the class stumbles in from the hall, including the teacher. I open my pen and began working.
Zach pov
After I dropped Cammie off at her first period class I made my way to the guidance office. I sort of lied to Cammie this morning. Yes I was going to the guidance consulars office but not to meet with her. I was going to meet up with Mr. Solomon.
He met me in the hallway before Cammie came and told me to meet him. I figured this would be a nice way to get on his good side.
I walked swiftly and quietly to the room. I opened the door with caution.
"Mr. Goode" he said with my foot still in the doorway. He didn't even look up from his book. How does he do that?
"Mr. Solomon" I respond stepping into the doorway. He gestured for me to take a seat. I sit down staring at the desk in front of me careful not to look at him directly.
"To what do I owe this pleasure?" I ask him.
He leaned forward on the desk. His face was set into a serious scowl. "I'm going to give you one chance." I was expecting him to elaborate and explain more but he didn't.
Just to be sure I waited a couple of seconds. Then I decided to ask him to clarify. "I don't think i understand completely what you're taking about"
"I'm giving you one chance to her back on my good side. One chance to prove to me why you should date my daughter."
"I-" I started explaining when he cut me off.
"You messed up a lot in the past. You broke Cammie's heart. You were the reason she moved from Roseville." He put his hands on his desk resting above the book he was reading when I moved in. "It all began with your lies. Now before you start giving me excuse tell me this. Are you keeping something from my daughter?"
I gulped. Is he talking about when I lied to her this morning? Or is he talking about that other thing....
"Your silence tells me the while thing" I lowered my gaze to the floor wondering how he knew.
"Tell me Zach does Cammie know you used to go to Blackthorne?"
"I don't know what you're talking about" I tell him but my voice gave me away.
"You have to tell her. Tell her and you would be back on my good side. Be honest with her, that's all she ever wanted."
I nodded unable to say anything else. I stood up ready to leave whatever this was. An intervention? A meeting? I didn't really have the time to figure which one it was.
"You're a decent kid Zach, but I don't want to see her hurt." I nod once more and get the hell out of there.
That was bizarre, but he had a point. I needed to come clean to Cammie about my past if I want our relationship to prosper.
I pulled out my phone and texted Cammie, 'Do you want to go on a date tonight?'. She responded a few seconds later saying 'sure I don’t have anything better to do ;)'
I rolled my eyes at her response not able to keep the growing smile off my face.
....A few periods later....
After I proposed we go on a date tonight I realized how stupid I was. I had no idea where to take her. I should have thought of that before asking her.
She asked me a few times where we were going. It was awkward during our lunch period as she tried guessing what is was. Her guess was as good as mine.
“Come on Zach you can tell me” She said leaning her head on my shoulder. Out of instinct I put my arm around her waist. “It's a surprise” I told her trying to sound as convincing as I could. She sighed kissing me on the cheek.
“It was worth a shot” I laughed still keeping her close. If I learned anything from the last year it's that I will never let her go again.
I looked at the table around us. It was fortunate that our group of friends all have the same lunch period.
Liz and Jonas were hovering over a textbook blushing a bright shade of red. I wonder when they'll get together. Maybe I should play matchmaker. It's painfully obvious they both like each other.
Next to them was Grant trying to flirt with Bex who was half paying attention. In my opinion he way trying way too hard. He should just tell her how he feels and ask her out instead of using pick up lines that make no sense.
On the other hand Macey was sitting next to Cammie too busy in her own little world. She was excessively texting on her phone smiling to herself. It was safe to assume she was talking to her boyfriend spiderman watch.
I really do have a problem remembering names.
“We should set up Jonas and Liz” I whisper to Cammie who is two seconds away from falling asleep on my shoulder. She makes some weird groaning noise that I take as an agreement. “Did you take your medicine?” I ask her. She nods already dozing off. I kiss her head and pull her closer using my jacket to keep her warmer.
She looked so adorable when she slept. I almost didn't want to wake her up when the bell rang but I knew she would get upset if she missed her classes.
“Cammie” I said shaking her up slightly. She stirred slightly continuing to sleep. “Cammie you have to wake up” I tell her louder shaking her harder than before. She lifted her head groggily saying,”What?”
“It's time to go to class sweetie” I tell her getting up slowly. She nods looking slightly dazed. I help her up rearranging my jacket on her shoulders and throwing her book bag over my shoulder. “Let's get you to class”. I walked her to her next class, I think it was Madam Dabney's class. It was either that or Mr. Smith's I mixed their classes up.
After dropping her off I ran to Mr. Solomon's class. He would kill me if I was late...again. I have to go from the basement all the way to the other side of the school on the second floor. Any normal teacher would understand, but he was no normal teacher.
He merely glanced my way as I walked in literally a second after the late bell. I sighed thankful for not getting chewed out.
I was barely paying attention during class. I tried my hardest but my mind kept wandering. I starred at the textbook in front of me as the words began to blur into a big mess. What am I going to do about tonight? I don't want to disappoint Cammie. I want to do something unique, something where we could have fun and be teenagers.
I considered asking Bex but she was sure to tell Cammie in an instant. It was the same with Macey or Liz. Asking Jonas or Grant would be awkward not to mention we all have different ideas of fun. This left me with no other option than to ask her step-dad. This was going to be so awkward.
I walked up to the front of the room where he was erasing the board. It was now or never I thought as I ran a hand through my hair nervously.
“Yes Zach?” he asked me turning around. His face was expressionless. I have no idea if that was a good or bad thing. “This isn't exactly school related-” He cut me off then with a stern expression.
“If it's not school related I don't want to know.” His voice was sharp and cold. This was starting to get harder than I thought.
“It's for Cammie” That seemed to catch his attention. “I want to take her out tonight.” I quickly added “With your permission of course. The problem is that I don't know where.” He sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. “I can't help you out with that, figure it out on your own” He told me nudging me in the direction of the door.
“Please sir for Cammie's sake.” That got him. “Fine you win. Take her Halloween shopping, sh loves that. And don't forget the peanut m&m's.” I smile gratefully. “Thanks Solomon! You won't regret it.” I rushed out the door but not before I heard him say, “I hope not, for all our sakes”.
Did I ever mention how much of a genuis that man is? His idea is amazing. This would be perfect for the upcoming halloween crap dance or party, whatever it is. I'm pretty sure Cammie would want to go. She loves Halloween. I can't believe that armed with this information I didn't come up with it.
I pulled out phone and sent a quick text to Cammie.
Wear something warm tonight ;)
A few hours later
I was outside Cammie's house waiting for her to come outside. I for one wanted to come in and be a gentleman (for once) but she insisted I wait for her outside. I didn't have to wait long since she came down a few minutes after I arrived.
“You look beautiful” I tell her giving her a quick kiss. Even in the evening I could still see her blush. She looked so adorable when she blushed, so innocent.
“So are you finally going to tell me where we are going?” she asked tightening her coat around her. It was slightly chilly tonight, it was towards the end of October it was bound to start getting colder. I take off the scarf I had on and wrapped it around her. I kissed her nose softly looking into her mesmerizing eyes. “There you go” I say still staring deeply into her blue eyes. I started to lean in to kiss her. Her lips parted slightly as she moved closer. Her lips were pink and looked so soft. I was intoxicated by her kisses. Just one and I couldn't get enough.
“You know my dad is probably watching us from the window” She tells me with our faces only a few centimeters apart. I could feel her warm breath on my face.
Well that was a buzzkill I thought as I pulled away.
Sure enough out of the corner of my eye I could see the curtains shifted and a sliver of light.
“Let's go Halloween shopping” I tell her letting it slip where we were going. “Yes!” She says grabbing my hand. It was a perfect match. “I have to admit it was you step-dad's idea” She turned to me with an eyebrow raised.
“Oh do tell” I playfully glared at her. “Well to be honest I didn't know where to take you on our date tonight so I asked Solomon.” I said truthfully with a sheepish smile. She looked at me for a second before erupting into a fit of laughter. And I’m not talking about 'oh look someone fell' kind of laughter. I'm talking about the one where you have to clutch the wall for support because your stomach hurts too much.
“What's so funny?” I ask a little hurt. She stopped laughing drying her eyes with her sleeve. It wasn't that funny.
“Never mind. Let's go Halloween shopping” With that said she dragged me off by the hand in the direction of Party City. She was half running, half skipping down the sidewalk with me laughing silently behind her. Did I mention how childish my girlfriend was.
That brought a smile to my face. Cammie was my girlfriend again. She was mine.
A/N: So what do you guys think?!?! I wanted to begin developing Zach and Solomon's relationship like we see in the books. The next chapter will have a little more drama with Tina and the rest of their date in it so that's bound to be interesting. I also wanted to develop the relationships her friends are in (Bex and Grant, Liz and Jonas, Macey and Preston). In addition I wanted to ask you guys which other couples you want to see more focused on in this story. The options are Liz and Jonas, Bex and Grant, Macey and Preston, Abby and Townsend, Rachel and Solomon. Tell me in comments which one you want to see more of.
I have a couple of conflicts headed their way, its going to be small ones that lead up to a big one. I may need your help with the larger conflict. I already have a few idea in my mind but that's far away.
Anyway Happy New Year!!!! I for one had an amazing new year with my family and my resolution is to update more often. This is one resolution I’m not giving up on.
