Big Shiny Golden
18:00, 13 May 2021It was a cheerful and beautiful day with birds chirping and singing their heart out and butterflies dancing on the flowers, kissing their soft petals. The sun was shining, its warm beams caressing each and every being with utmost love.
Everyone was in a happy and jolly mood.
Well everyone except Fandral.
He kicked the pebbles away and scowled at the so happy looking birds as they continued to twitter without giving a fuck to the annoyed man's displeasure. "You will burn crisp and Volstagg will eat you up, you pathetic noisy creatures!" He spat cursing the colourful small birds who seemed to chirp even more after that.
Now, Fandral was not the one to get annoyed so easily. He's a carefree man with damned good looks and charms that can make the maidens of Asgard swoon over him. A very few things irk him. Cheating was one of those few things.
He had a bet with one of the man in the bar on a sword fighting. He almost won if it not had been for that opponent's tricky leg swipe that made him hit the ground and lose the fight. He had to give away his prized possession: the gem studded golden cup.
He hated tricks and tricksters.
He continued pacing the garden, fuming and grumbling when suddenly a sound reached his ears. It was a laugh of a woman. A clear ringing laughter.
His pacing stopped and the frown dropped from his face. Curious, he started approaching the source of that laugh. Avoiding the flowering vines and leaves, he stepped into the clearing and found a lady standing under a rhododendron tree, her back facing him.
He tilted his head, brows furrowing as he studied the woman's back. He knew that staring is rude and a bit creepy too but at this moment, it didn't matter to him as much as the maiden did. She was hunched over something in her hands and was cooing and giggling. He wanted to call out to her. To ask her to turn around and show him her face. His wishes were answered as the maiden turned around.
As soon as his eyes fell on the girl, he found himself immobile. Unresponsive. Amazed. Hypnotized. He wasn't sure whether he was even breathing or not. Without his knowledge, his jaws slacked down as he drank in her appearance.
He had never met this maiden in his whole life. She was enthralling with a beauty that can even put the angels to shame. Her milky white skin glowed under the sunlight as her waist length hair was down, resembling a cascading waterfall of dark chocolate. The dress she wore made her curves look tantalising. Whenever she laughed at the tiny squirrel in her hands, he found himself breathless.
Is she an Angel from Valhalla to take me with her?
And then, the girl's eyes met his. Damn!
He watched her frown and then a look of alertness passed her face. The squirrel jumped out from her hand and climbed the nearest branch of a tree. Fandral stepped forward to get a better view of her.
Red lips like cupid's bows, strong arched eyebrows, small sharp nose adorned her spotless porcelain face, giving out an innocence. But what surprised him the most was her eyes. They were aqua blue...no they were violet. Or both. But they were the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen.
Big aqua-violet eyes with long thick lashes framing them.
"Why the hell are you staring, you creep?" Ah! The sweet sweet voice!
With a step he took forward, the lady took a step back, a warning look on her face. A voice in his mind kept repeating just three words like a mantra.Make her yours make her yours make her yours.... He didn't know when his hand latched on her delicate wrist. He didn't hear the alerting cry from the maiden and neither did he saw her other hand rising untill...
*Smack!*
He let go of her hand and rubbed his cheek, staring at the girl confused. What happened just now?! The lady kept looking at him silently, her plump lips pressed into thin lines. Fandral bowed. "Please except my apologies for my rough behaviour, my Lady." He scratched his neck, awkwardly and still confused. "I don't know....why I behaved like this but... I'm not that kind of man."
"I believe you, Sir." The maiden said after a few seconds of hesitation, in a small voice and gave him a smile, that showed a slight dimple on her left cheek. "Oh... by the way, I'm Fandral." He gently took her hand and pressed a kiss on her knuckles. "I'm Rosabelle. Rose." She said, smiling again. The name made Fandral confused. He has heard the name somewhere but where?
"I have never seen you here in Asgard before.""Because I'm not an Asgardian, sir Fandral. I'm from Midgard." Midgard! Rose! The girl about whom Thor always has loads to say...
"You're Lady Rose! Thor's sister, right?" Rose nodded. "Yup, that's me." Fandral smiled widely. "And I'm his friend.... you know, Warrior's three?" She nodded. "I'm one of them... what are you doing in here?"
Rose shrugged as she ran her fingers over the bark of the tree. "I was chatting with Allmother. She left and I stayed back to enjoy the garden. It's so beautiful here." She said, beaming just like the sun. Seeing this a perfect opportunity, Fandral decided to do flirt.
"But you know what's the most beautiful thing I see here?" He asked, smirking and leaning against the tree, his eyes never leaving hers. Rose fought the urge to roll her eyes. "And that's me, right?" She said bluntly watching the smirk on the handsome man's face falter.
That was a lame flirt.
"Oh! It seems you know what effects your astounding beauty has on helpless men like me, huh?" Fandral teased, as he watched the locks of her hair dancing with the breeze. His hand itched to tuck them behind her ear. Rose frowned slightly. "Of course I know, sir. I've received enough comments to make me aware of my appearance. I'm not that naive as you took me to be."
Rose had enough of this conversation. She felt impatient and irritated. First of all, this man is a complete stranger to her. Secondly, his staring and flirts were creeping her out. If she spends more time here, she will surely punch him. And thirdly, she wants to see Loki. It has been almost two hours since she saw him last.
"It was nice talking to you sir but I must go. I have some work to do." With a pleasant smile and a slight bow, she tried to move past him but his hand took hold of her wrist, again, sending a shiver up her hand.
She was never comfortable with such contacts from strangers and that too, a man. Rose gritted her teeth as her breath hitched. I should have left with Frigga.
Fandral, who was unaware of her discomfort, came and stood in front of her. "I met you just now, chérie. Can't we just explore the garden together? I'll be glad to show you around." He really tried to help her but poor Fandral didn't know how much his hand on her wrist was fricking her out.
Rose bit back her whimper and pulled away her hand. "Thank you Fandral but I should go... Loki must be waiting for me."
As soon as the name left her mouth, Fandral stiffened. Loki... So this is the Midgardian woman he is so obsessed with. But sadly, Loki doesn't deserve her.
"Oh right... I don't understand how a maniac like-" before he could complete his sentence, the man he hated to meet the moment walked near them and stood beside Rose. Fandral failed to notice the sudden change in Rose's demeanor as she smiled brightly at the talk dark Prince who was now glaring down at Fandral.
"Hello Loki." Fandral greeted him with a dry voice, without missing a beat. Loki stared at him, his face blank. "... Fandral." And then faced Rose with a warm smile. "Is he troubling you, my love?" Rose wanted to nod but didn't. Instead, she said, "not at all."
"So I see you have met the love of my life, Fandral." Loki said, a smug look on his face as he saw Fandral squirm. "Yeah, I have. And I must say, she's beautiful." Fandral smiled and sent a wink to Rose, making her frown.
Loki gave a tight smile and nodded. "I know and I'm fortunate to have her." Fandral shrugged. "Ah huh... Enjoy the days as much as you can for...no one is permanent." Rose felt Loki tense beside her as the last four words left Fandral's mouth.
"And what do you mean by that?" Loki asked, taking a step towards Fandral who stood to his ground, glaring back at the Prince. "I meant that the day will come when she will see the real you and leave you...just like Neith-" Fandral wasn't even done when Loki lounged and grabbed his collars, slamming him into the tree with a loud wham.
"LOKI! NO!" Rose shrieked, completely taken aback by this sudden attack and tried to pull Loki away but in vain. Fandral gulped as he watched the prince's face grow darker. "Dare to speak her name and I swear to the mother who nourished me, you'll crave for death." Loki snarled, baring his teeth as his hot breathe fanned the man's face.
The tone of Loki made Rose shiver in fright. There was so much hatred and buried pain in his voice and the anger that seemed to burn the fragile soul of the man she loves so much.
Without wasting any more seconds, Rose gripped Loki's wrists and gently pried open his fingers from Fandral's collar, all the while glaring at Fandral to keep his mouth shut. After succeeding in pulling Loki away, she turned to face Fandral and gave him a disappointed look. "I hope you don't repeat your mistake Fandral. It would be good if you don't bring up the topic again."
Fandral huffed loudly and straightened his collars. Glaring at a seething Loki he smirked. "Just because I respect women I'm dropping this topic but..." He tilted his head and scoffed. "What can I do... Truth is always bitter." Ignoring Loki's growl, he bowed and kissed Rose's knuckles making Rose flinch. "See you soon chérie." And he left.
With a long breath she turned to Loki to find him breathing heavily now. His jaws were clenched tight, she feared that it might break. His eyes were shut and nose flared. "Loki..." She called him softly, placing her hand on his shaking fist but he swatted it away. He snapped open his eyes and she noticed the dark green flakes dancing wildly in his light green orbs.
He was mad. Very very mad.
"Loki, calm down-" Loki stormed passed her, his body frigid and tight, ignoring her calls and pleas. Rose, not finding any other option, started following him, almost running to keep up with his fast and steady long steps."Loki! Please stop!" She cried out but to no avail. She couldn't even run properly because of the dress. Fuck! Fuck this dress!
Loki was fuming. He saw red and felt like stabbing someone. He needed to vent out his anger. The servants noticed their young prince's foul mood and hurriedly stepped out of his way.
As soon as Loki reached his room, he banged open the door and rushed inside, Rose following him in quickly. She watched him pacing the room, a wild look on his face. "Loki please listen to-" CRASH!Rose shrieked when he threw a glass vase at her feet, smashing it into hundreds of pieces.
Hearing her shriek, Loki stopped. He turned his eyes on her and his heart dropped seeing her so scared. "Oh I'm sorry! A-are you hurt? Did I-I hurt you?" He asked ashamed, his eyes locked on the shattered pieces of the vase near his beloved's feet.
Rose quickly shook her head and started to walk towards him seeing his face a bit calmer now. "I didn't mean to throw it at you..." Loki muttered and suddenly held her face in his shaking hands. "You could have got hurt... I'm sorry. " Rose removed his hands from her face and made him sit on the bed. She then engulfed him in her arms, hugging him tightly. "I know baby...I know."
Loki snapped out from his state of daze and embraced her back, wrapping his hands around her waist and nuzzling his face against her belly. Rose knew that her touch starved boyfriend needed this hug. No words were spoken in between as they remained in the same position. Rose ran her fingers through his hair and rubbed his back till his breathing pattern became normal.
"Rose...?" Loki croaked out, his arms tightening around her waist. "Ssh ssh Loki..." She kissed his hair and continued caressing his head. "Don't give a fuck to what other's say, my darling. Let them bark for it's their nature. Believe in yourself Lemon... Forget what he said." Loki stayed silent, enjoying her sweet words and loving touches that vanished away all his woes and anger.
"But who is this Neith? Is she alive?" Rose thought. "Whoever she is, I don't care but if she's still alive... I'll definitely kill her. No one dares to hurt my Loki." Her hold around Loki tightened. "I hope we never cross paths in the future. Never..."
When everything was fine again, they pulled away from the hug. Rose brushed his cheek with her soft blue glowing knuckles and thumbs, and smiled seeing him sigh in contentment. She used her power to switch his foul mood to a calm and happy one, secretly praying for Loki not to notice it. He never liked Rose to use her powers on him.
Loki looked up at her with his bright twinkling eyes and smiled. "I love you Pudding." "I know and I love you too, Frosty." Rose pecked his nose. "So, are we going to explore and enjoy ourselves, huh?" She asked. Loki stayed silent for a moment and then nodded. "Sure....sure."

Thankfully this time, there was no such stupid people to ruin the fun of the lovebirds. He showed her east and west wing of the palace, his favourite library, the secret rooms and the alcoves where they kissed like some secret teenagers in love.
All the while, Rose kept asking numerous questions and Loki just smiled and answered each one of them with patience. When she felt hungry, they stole pies from the kitchen. They also pranked some maids with fake snakes. And then, they met the Warrior's three and Sif. Fortunately, Fandral was not with them. And neither was Thor.
Volstagg had taken an immediate liking towards Rose who loved food just like him. To his utter joy, she also promised him to make some Midgardian deserts. To Rose, he looked like a big but gentle bear whose mouth was always busy, chewing and swallowing anything edible.
Sif was first hesitant to talk to the girl who had stolen the mischevious prince's heart. But as soon as Rose opened her mouth and started to chatter, Sif realised this girl is a good one. She knew that how Thor doted on Rose and loved her like his own sister. Maybe she could try the same. She also promised Rose to teach her sword fighting seeing that how much she was fangirling over sword.
Hogun however remained in his stoic self and kissed her knuckles like a gentleman. He didn't smile but just stared at her, as if studying her carefully and Rose found it creepy. He still wasn't sure if to trust Rose or not. Afterall, she loves the God of mischief and lies!
But what surprised the warriors was Loki's behaviour. He was no more that sarcastic, rude and arrogant man with the lust for powers and throne. Loki didn't pass any stinging comments and neither did he snarl or smirk like an evil minded criminal. As if, it was the Loki from the past. Not the one who tried to invade a planet.
Sif noticed the way Loki gazed at Rose while she chatted with Volstagg. When the girl laughed, Loki's lips curled up too. His eyes were overflowing with love, care and adoration for the girl. Sif noticed how Loki's eyes brightened up when Rose hugged his arm, giggling. This Loki was soft.
"Has he really changed or it's just his fake act?" She thought. "If it's an act then, he's too good at it."
"So are you two joining us for dinner?" Volstagg asked, patting Rose's head. "Stop patting my head!" Rose pouted angrily and swatted away his hand making them laugh. "But you're soo small!" Sif teased. Rose huffed and looked at Loki for help but he just laughed at her too.
It isn't her fault that the Asgardians are fricking tall. Being only 5'3, she almost reached their shoulders. No doubt she looked like a child among them. She hates being treated like a baby.
"I'm not small! Stop teasing me!" Rose protested, glaring at them. Loki wrapped his hand around her shoulder and pulled her close to his body. "We will join you all." He said. "Very well then. Meet you at dinner, Loki and Rose." Sif said and with a parting wave, they left.
"Is it dinner time?" Rose asked as they started to walk towards their rooms. Their rooms, as expected, faced each other's. "Yeah, it is." Loki answered, kissing her hands and interlacing his fingers with hers. "Do you want to change?" He asked. Rose shook her head. "I don't want to...is it needed?" "Nay."

The door opened and Loki entered with Rose, hand in hand. Thor, Warrior's three and Sif were already in their seats and they sent a warm smile towards Rose and Loki.
Fandral winked at Rose and stood up to kiss her knuckles. "Hello again chérie." Rose managed a small smile and nodded. The word 'chérie' confused her. What does that mean?
Loki grabbed Rose's hand and pulled her near himself, sending a glare at a scowling Fandral. "Let's sit, my love." He said, kissing her cheek. Rose nodded again. "Sure."
Thor sat across her and offered her a apologetic smile. He stood up and walked near her, leaning down and whispered "My heartfelt apologies sister. I know that I hurt you. I promise not to repeat it again."
Rose smiled and kissed Thor's cheek. "I'm happy that you have understood your fault, brother." Thor grinned and after kissing Rose's cheek, settled down in his chair.
The doors opened again and the royal couple stepped in. Everyone stood up straight with respect and waited until Odin and Frigga settled down. Loki sat beside Frigga and Thor beside Odin. Rose sat in between Loki and Sif. Fandral sat next to Thor, followed by Volstagg and Hogun.
"Let's start." Odin announced and the servants rushed in with trays laden with foods. Rose sighed. "Seriously! Even the plates, spoons, forks and glasses are of gold. This much gold is making me sick now." Rose groaned internally.
She looked at others to find them already filling their plates with foods. Volstagg and Thor had a big mound of foods on their plates. Rose stared at Loki's plate and started to serve herself the items which he's eating. She skipped the vegetables and thankfully, no one scolded her about it.
She chewed the piece of roasted meat slowly, taking in the delicious taste when Odin suddenly, called out her name.
"Rosabelle." Rose tensed and slowly looked up to meet Odin's eyes. Frigga offered her a warm smile which she returned back. "I have heard that you possess some powers that a mere mortal shouldn't have." Odin asked, staring at her. Rose nodded. "Yes Allfather.""Will you tell us more about it?"
Is he really interested about me? Is this a trap?
Rose looked at Loki who smiled encouragingly. He squeezed her hand from under the table and that seemed to calm her down her nerves. Rose looked back at Odin. "I have the power of teleportation and telepathy. I can trade feelings and emotions. Control temperature which I don't do much. I can heal. Talk to animals and birds. And suck out energy and sometimes life too of a living being."
"That's impressive, my child!" Frigga exclaimed, amazed. "It indeed is." Odin said, nodding his head. Rose smiled shyly. "What do you do back in Midgard?" "I am an Avenger, Allfather." Odin hummed, acknowledging the answer.
"But what I don't understand is that how did you get these powers and abilities. A Midgardian mortal cannot posses them. " Odin mused. Loki felt Rose tense under his touch. She was dead nervous now.
"She got her powers in an accident, Allfather." Loki spoke up. "She was caught in some chemical blasts or something and that interfered with her body, bestowing her these abilities." He lied effortlessly and heaved a sigh of relief seeing Odin buy his lies without any suspects. However, Frigga gave him a look.
He could never fool his mother.
Rose let out a shaky breathe. "Thanks a lot Loki! Thanks!" She thanked him telepathically. Loki squeezed her hand again. "No need for thanks, Love."The truth was embarassing for Rose. How could she tell them that these powers are the results of experiments? That she was treated as a lab rat for 19 long years?
Some truths are better to be kept buried.
"Do you have any siblings, dear?" Frigga asked, stirring her spoon. Rose shook her head. "No... But if you don't count blood related siblings then, Thor is my brother." She answered, recieving a wide grin from Thor. "Relations are not always bonded by blood... They are bonded by love and care." Frigga said, taking a glance at Loki who had his eyes on his plate. "I know and I love my sister!" Thor yelled happily, raising a chicken leg in the air. The rest burst out chuckling.
"And parents?" Odin asked. Rose groaned in her mind. Why the tough questions are coming from this old man?
"They are dead, Allfather." She replied and the room fell in silence. "Dead how?" Rose shrugged and avoided everyone's gaze. "I don't know... Never got to meet them. Orphaned when born." She lied."Oh I'm so sorry for your loss, my dear!" Frigga said sadly.
Rose shook her head, managing a weak smile. "No no... it's fine. No sorries please. " Loki rubbed her palms slowly for comforting her.
The rest of the dinner went in silence. Loki kept holding her hand and Rose was grateful for this small act of love. Suddenly, Sif poked her side for attention.
"What?" Rose asked softly. "Wake up early tomorrow. We have a lots of work to do." Sif said smiling. "Sword fighting?" Rose asked, excited. Sif nodded. "Yes. And something fun.""Fun? How?" "Pranking the brothers. You'll help me, right?" Sif asked with a wink. Rose grinned. "You had to ask? Of course I will! But....how?"
"Do you know what Loki is afraid of?" Rose nodded. "Yeah...thunders and lightning." Sif shook her head. "No. Something else.""What?"
"Caterpillars."
Rose eyes widened and then she burst out laughing. "Hahaha! No way!Ahahaha- Oh Fuck!" Her laugh died down when she noticed everyone's eyes locked on her. "Umm... sorry." She mumbled, continuing with her food. Loki gave her a weird look but didn't say anything.
Sif was silently chuckling. "Are you serious?" Rose whispered, once everyone focused back to eating."Of course! Why would I lie? Do you know Thor's?" "Yes... Octopus." "But we don't have any of those in Asgard." Sif whispered back. Rose grinned again. "You leave that to me Sif. You arrange the caterpillars."
Both the girls grinned mischievously, planning out the plans in their minds while their innocent preys were busy filling their tummies.

"Did you enjoy your day, Rose?" Yeona asked as Rose plopped down on her bed. "Yes! I did. What about you?" "Me too. We went out for a small picnic in the forest with friends. It was fun!" "That's great!"
"I have arranged everything for your bath. What do you like, lavender or sandalwood?" Yeona asked, placing her hands on her hips. Rose sat up. "Bath? Ok... Sandalwood please. Do you need any help?" The girl shook her head. "No. You just undress and gather your nightgown."
Rose stepped into the bathroom and was stunned. How can a bathroom be so big? The heavenly scent of sandalwood tingled her nose. There was a small pool in the middle of the room. Filled with lukewarm water and rose petals.
"It's just like some movie!" Rose muttered, amazed. She slipped out of her dress and stretched her arms. Wrapping a small towel around her breasts and in a hipster pantie, she stepped down till her upper body was above the water.
Yeona came in and sat at her head, placing down a golden bowl beside her. "Is the temperature comfortable according-""It's perfect, Yeona! Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it." Rose said, splashing water with her legs. Yeona smiled. "I'm glad that you liked it, Rose." She picked up the bowl and scooped up some amount of sandalwood paste in her hand and started applying it on Rose's arms.
"What is this for?" Rose asked, leaning her head on the edge of the pool. "It has a relaxing effect on your body and cools it down. Today's day was a bit heavy for you so I thought it may help you." Rose smiled brightly and pecked the girl's cheek. "Thanks for caring for me, darling. Thanks a lot." Yeona laughed softly. "Ah! Welcome Rose."
They continued to chat while Yeona rubbed the paste on Rose's back. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "Let me check it." Yeona said. She got up, washed her hands and left the room. Rose heard her opening the door and talking to someone but couldn't point out who was him or her. She splashed around the water and started applying some paste on her around her shoulders when she heard footsteps nearing the room.
