Is it a Goodbye?

"But sir, it's not at all fair!" Steve yelled, protesting only to be sushed down by Fury. "I know that too, Rogers. I support Rose but we have to obey the orders."

SHIELD has been ordered by the office incharge to suspend Rose from some of the missions and if possible, then to get her sanity checked.They think the way she killed her father was just inhuman and can't be tolerated.

"HOW dare they say she's Crazy?" Nat yelled, furious. "And what about the way she was tortured by her so called asshole of a 'father' and Hydra? Was it HUMANLY?"

"What are they? Matures or a bunch of fucking dick heads?" Tony seethed."Listen to me. Dammit! Just hear me once. They are already upset with us for allowing Loki to stay here. This time we should listen to them. I don't think we have any other choices." Fury tried to make them see the sense.

"I don't think they should be upset about the matter of Loki. He has been a great help to us in the mission. He has shown that he can be trusted. He has changed for the good." Bruce said calmly. Well he was the only one who was too calm in the room although he looked a bit green.

Stark turned his gaze towards Rose and his heart clenched. She was silent and still, her eyes closed and face blank, her head leaned on Loki's shoulder. Loki too didn't utter a single word and just sat on the sofa, rubbing the girl's hands. His jaws were clenched tight and was trying his best not to explode.

"No no Fury. You don't understand. It'll hamper her reputation. They can't just stick a tag of insane on her head and damp her down even before she starts building her name. No no. I can't let this shit happen." Tony shook his head. "Tony, you all need to -"

"Sir Fury."

They all turned their attention to Rose, who stood up, her pretty face void of any emotions. "Do as you are ordered. I'll stick by the rules. And if possible then..." Her voice quivered and broke. "I will have my sanity checked. Excuse me everyone." She quickly teleported to her room and burst into tears.

She felt like a failure. A burden. A crazy, worthless fool. A weak, disgusting life that should be finished off. She clutched the bedsheets tight as she cried and wailed, her face pressed firmly into the pillow to muffle her heartbreaking sobs.

Meanwhile in the living room, everyone was silent, until Fury decided to leave. "And Loki." He pointed to the fuming God. "You still have to behave properly if you are to stay here. That's it." And with that he left.

"Oh God!" Natasha sighed as she gulped down the water. Steve kept pacing the room while Bruce sat down on the couch, eyes closed and taking deep breaths to cool himself. Tony just stared aimlessly at nothing muttered something under his breath. Thor stepped into the room, glum, with Hugnin and Munin on his shoulders. The already thick tension thickening more.

"There's something I've to announce." Thor started. "Me too." Loki said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You first." Thor offered. "While returning from Aunt's abode, we were followed by two Hydra's spies." Everyone's attention was snapped at him."I managed to kill one but the other escaped."

"It's a thing to worry. He can alert the others about Rose staying with us. But how did they come to know about her? We had killed every one in that mission, right?" Nat asked, worried."That means someone had escaped from the ground that day. Holy Christ! Can this day get worse?" Steve sighed, slamming his fist on the table.

"I assume it can." Thor piped in.

"What do you mean?" Loki asked confused and nervous. The Ravens flew and perched in front of him and bowed their heads. Loki nodded and smiled, caressing their heads with his fingers. The Ravens loved the mischevious prince and Loki loved them too.

"Brother we have to return to Asgard. Father calls." "Great!!" Tony threw up his hands in despair. "And?" Loki asked. He knew that Thor was leaving out something.

" It's about you. I don't know what but it's about you brother."

The brothers stood outside Rose's room, the Ravens perched on Loki's head. "Do you think I'm coming back?" Loki asked. Thor sighed. "I...I don't know brother. I'm not sure." Loki hummed. "I don't know how she will take the news..." Loki mumbled before knocking on the door.

"Pudding? Pud?" No answer."Pudding? Rose? Can you hear me?" Some muffled sounds came and then"What do you need?" She asked back, from inside. "Sister, open the door please." Thor pleaded, knocking again.

After a minute, the door clicked open to reveal a smiling Rose. " Do enter." She side stepped to let them enter. Loki noticed her eyes were red rimmed and puffy, her cheeks and tip of the nose red. He knew she had been crying but didn't bring up the topic.

The Ravens flew and cawed around her head before landing on her shoulders. She focused on her power and her body was surrounded by a soft golden glow. Loki's breath hitched at the sight before his eyes. She looked so divine, just like a goddess.

"Hello my dear friends. Nice to meet you again!" She smiled."We are so happy to meet you, lady Rosebelle!" They both greeted, bowing their heads. "Ahem...umm my brother Munin seems to like you." Hugnin declared, in a teasing tone. Munin, embarrassed, turned away his head.

"Aww! Really!" Rose chuckled and kissed the shy bird's head softly. Thor and Loki laughed at the adorable scene. "Now dear Ravens, I ask you to leave us and approach the team. They have your food ready." Thor said. The birds nodded and after nudging Rose's cheeks, flew away.

"They are so sweet!" Rose smiled. And so are you. Loki bit back the words before they could slip out from his mouth.

"You wanted to say something?" Rose asked once they sat on the bed. Thor looked at Loki and then back at Rose before nodding. "We're leaving for Asgard. " "Oh! Ok! You're coming back tonight, right?" Rose asked eagerly but met with silence. "Tomorrow?" Silence." Day after tomorrow?" Loki shook his head.

"After two days... three...one week?""I may come back sister but I'm afraid Loki won't." Rose's heart dropped to her stomach.

She felt the urge to spill tears again but no, she won't. But the person, whom she calls upon the most when in need of comfort is leave her. With no surety of coming back to her. What could she do at the moment?

Loki looked sadly at Rose, his own throat tightening to see how she is fighting back the tears. After a few minutes of silence, Thor hugged her tightly and kissed her head. "I'm sorry dear sister." He whispered, wiping a tear that has rolled down her cheek. "I should go for I've to pack up my belongings." And after kissing her forehead once more, he left. Loki got up and sat beside her.

"Pud?" He curled a finger under her chin and tilted up her face. "Look at me, dear. Please." Her glistening aqua ones met his twinkling emerald eyes. "Why are you leaving?" She asked softly, her voice full of tears.Loki sighed deeply. "Maybe my time for punishment has come. Maybe Allfather wants to see if I am changed or not. It could be anything, dear."

"I don't like your Allfather, Loki." Rose sniffed, scratching her nose. "Neither me. But I promise I would come to meet you somehow, if I'll be alive with my head-"

"Loki!!" Rose gasped, and covered his lips with her palm, tears spilling. "Don't say like that. Never. Ever. Say. That." She shivered. "I can never imagine that even in my wildest dreams. Your -" She shuddered, hugging Loki as tightly as she could, afraid of letting him go.

Loki kissed her head and inhaled deeply into her hair, breathing in the berries scent. " I'm sorry my dearest pudding. I promised you just the last night that I would never leave you but...but I failed to keep my promise. Please forgive me." He mumbled, nuzzling his nose in her soft hair.

"Don't say... sorry..." Rose broke down. "I don't need your sorries. I-I need you. Don't go please." She clutched his shirt tightly, burying her face into his hard chest. "Please don't go. I need you to stay with me. I need you to comfort me, to tease me, to steal my candies and chocolates. Please please please don't go." She sobbed so hard that it brought tears in Loki's eyes.

It surprised him that how a fragile mortal has made him this soft. She has changed him. He continued to rub circles on her back and she continued to bawl.

"Pudding?" Loki entered her room after lunch. The Ravens have already left and the brothers will be leaving within ten minutes."Hmm?""What are you doing?" He asked seeing Rose standing in the balcony, her back facing him. "Nothing. When are you... leaving?" She asked, her voice low. She still didn't face him. Sighing, walked and stood beside her.

"Within ten minutes as per Thor." He answered, looking at the setting sun in the horizon. The sun looked like an round orange candy to him.

"Isn't it looking delicious?" She asked suddenly.

"What?" "The sun. I know what you are thinking." She grinned and Loki felt his own lips turning up and the next moment they burst out laughing.

"Odin's beard! It seems like you know me too well!" He grinned."I know right. I'm proud." She chuckled.

After a minute of pleasant silence, Loki spoke up. "I have something for you."Rose turned her head towards him. "For me? What and why?"

Loki flicked his hand and closed it into a fist and brought it near her. "Open it." He smiled. Rose cocked her brows and pried open his fingers to reveal something that made her gasp softly.

It was a simple beautiful silver necklace with a aqua crystal as a pendant. The crystal was wrapped in a delicate filigree wrap.

"You liked it?" Loki asked nervously. "Dammit Loki! It's beautiful! I loved it! Thank you buddy!"

"May I?" He asked softly.

Rose nodded and lifted up her hair and turned her back towards Loki. He wrapped the thin silver chain around her neck and clasped the hook lock.

Rose sucked in a sharp breath as she felt his cool breath and cool fingers on her neck. It was oddly pleasing and she loved the sensation that flowed through her at his touch.

"Let me guess. It's not just a piece of jewelry, right?" She asked.

Loki chuckled. "Ooh! It seems that you do have something in there!" He teased, poking her head.

"Oi! I'm smart! Say sorry!" She protested, hitting his arm.

"Ehehehe! I'm not... sorry ehehe but...but..." He raised his hands in surrender as Rose got ready to hit him again. "There is really a cause behind this necklace." Rose raised her brows and he continued.

"Whenever you will remember me and say something, I'll be able to hear you. I'll be alerted if you're in any kind of danger. No matter how many realms apart we are, it will keep us connected." Loki stepped forward, the distance between them decreasing as they stared into each other's eyes.

The time seemed to slow down as he placed his hand on her cheek, caressing it. "It will keep us together till my last breath..." He breathed out, his voice husky and low.

The way he looked at her made her knees weak and heart drum like anything. She wanted him to hold her tight in his arms and kiss- Wait! What!? WHAT THE HELL AM I THINKING!?? Rose kicked herself mentally as she controlled her now blushing cheeks.

"Do you doubt my abilities to keep myself safe?" Rose asked, breaking the awkward silence and taking a step back.

Loki grinned. "Well maybe you have brawn but you lack-"

"Don't complete it else you will get a smack again." Rose threatened him playfully.

"Oooh! I'm scared!" Loki mimicked her, his voice oddly funny and high pitched. Rose laughed. "You better be."

"Sir Laufeyson and Rose, you are called down. It's time for the departure." Jarvis announced and within a second the jolly mood vanished and was replaced by gloominess. Their hearts grew heavy inside them. They both feared that this might be the last meeting.

"Let's go, Pudding." Loki said softly, giving her his hand which she took without a second thought, and squeezed it. "Let's go..."

"Don't do anything that will land you in trouble." Steve advised, breaking the hug. "I'll try." Loki answered, grinning mischievously.

"And don't worry. I think you have completed your punishment." Bruce said.

"Yes. And don't trust your father. Ol' men become kind of crazy in their old-age." Tony said smiling and hugged him. "Take care boy. I know we will meet again." He said patting his back.

"And convey my best farewells and loves to Clint." Loki said and Nat nodded, hugging him tightly.

Rose hugged Thor. "Come soon brother and... please take care of him. I don't want anything happen to him. Keep him out of troubles."

Thor smiled warmly at her. "I promise little sister. I'll keep him safe." He kissed her forehead.

And at last, she hugged Loki, as tight as she could at the moment. Loki felt his heart speed up as she buried her face into his chest.

"You know what, I'll get your share of cookies now." She mumbled.

"I am jealous of you dear." Loki chuckled, wrapping his hands around her curved waist.

"Will you miss me?" She asked, pulling back her head.

"Not a bit." Loki replied, smirking, earning a well deserved hit from her.

"I hate you."

"Try saying I love you once." Loki smiled, eyes glittering.

Rose bit back her tears. "Of course I love you! That's... that's what BFFs do."

Natasha and Bruce glanced at each other. "Are you guessing the same as me?" She asked, smiling.

Bruce nodded. "Yeah, a chemistry is brewing."

Loki gave her a bag. "I've shared the toffees and chocolates. It has more sour gummies." Rose stepped on her toes and kissed his cheeks.

Second time... He thought, dreamily.

"I know we will meet again Loki. I know that. T-take care." She stammered, tears trailing down her rosy cheeks. Loki's heart sank. She is making the departure more and more difficult for him.

"Thor, don't waste any more time. I can't see her crying like this anymore." He said in Thor's head.

Thor nodded sadly.

Loki wiped her tears. "Don't cry Pudding. You look like a frog when you cry... You're making difficult for me to leave." He said, cupping her cheeks. "Take care darling. Don't cry anymore." He kissed her forehead, his lips lingering on her head for a bit more time than normal.

Next, he addressed the rest. "Farewell my friends. Hope we can meet again."

Thor raised Mjolnir towards the sky. "Heimdall, open the bifrost." He yelled.

Loki and Rose kept their eyes locked with each other till he was engulfed in bright white lights and then... He was gone.

This is the pendant... I didn't know if it's good or not...
