26 - Tom
19:38, 7 December 2021I'd watched the video clip six times now and my level on anger increased each time until I wanted to scream. Zawe had officially lost her bloody mind this time! Had I not already been at the studio when the video had hit the internet I'd have hopped on the first flight to Los Angeles to confront her...or try and see Eliza just to make sure she was okay.
Flying to LA was still an option once the interview was over. Even if she wouldn't see me it'd be enough to see her with my own eyes from a distance. I'd finished my letter late last night and the quickest way to make sure she got it was to take it to her. Before the video I'd been afraid of seeing her look at me like she had the night of the party, but now I didn't care.
"Mr. Hiddleston, you're on in five." A perky brunette says, sticking her head into the room.
"Thank you."
I'd been on Jimmy's show before and on normal circumstances I'd have been excited about it. Interviews didn't bother me really, I got to be my goofy self but I knew this one would be different. This is the first interview I've done since before Zawe and I split. I'd kept up on what Eliza was saying about us and honestly it'd surprised me that she was still acting like we were a couple, or hadn't broken up; she side stepped most of the questions about us or gave very brief answers if she did answer. It gave me a little hope that I hadn't lost her completely.
The woman comes back in and I follow her to the side of the stage.
"Our next guest needs no introduction. Everyone's favorite mischief maker as well as Broadway's darling; the one and only Tom Hiddleston." Jimmy says and the audience claps.
Ducking through the curtain I smile and wave as I cross the stage, climbing the step to shake Jimmy's hand before I take my seat.
"Welcome back Tom! It's been a minute since you were here."
"It has, thank you for having me. How have you been?"
"I've been well, thank you for asking. You've been busy since you were here. Finished up your run on Broadway and finished filming for the next Thor movie not too long ago."
"Yes, that had been such an experience, felt good to put my Loki suit on again."
"I'm sure it was, after we all saw Loki die at hand of Thanos. I know you're not allowed to tell me anything about the new movie but there was something you left out the last time you were here. You were dating your Betrayal co-star Zawe Ashton? Were things serious?"
"I thought so but we apparently weren't on the same page."
"You proposed and she said no? That had to have hurt. I'm so sorry Tom. Her loss though because you seem to have met someone else rather suddenly right after that."
"Thank you, yes it did hurt at the time but as it turns out it was the best thing that could've happened to me. I met the most amazing woman the next day."
"So you really didn't know Ms. Grimm before the split? There has been a lot of speculation since you two seemed to hit it off so well so quickly."
"I really didn't. We just chanced to meet and really hit it off. She's an amazing woman."
Pictures of Eliza and I scroll on the screen behind us and as much as it hurts to look at them they were happy memories. The ones from the night of the event hurt the most but she'd done a good job keeping up appearances that night.
"Now did you know she was famous in her own right when you met?"
"I did not. I'm sad to say I'd never read any of her books at that point either. It was a complete surprise when she told me who she really is."
"You hadn't read any of them?" Jimmy laughs, "Please tell me you've fixed that now? Her books are amazing!"
"Yes I've read some of them now that I have some time off. You're right, her books are amazing. She based Jaime around me you know."
"I heard that but wasn't sure it was true. That's so cool! So she was a fan of yours before you met?"
"Apparently. She and her best friend Katy came to set one day and that's when we actually met. The first time I laid eyes on her I thought she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen."
"Love at first sight?" Jimmy asks excitedly.
"I'd say so. There was just something about her. It felt like we'd always known each other once we started talking. I truly love her in a way I've never loved anyone else.""
"That has got to be the sweetest thing I've ever heard. I'm so happy for you both."
"Thank you."
"When she went to LA without you I wasn't sure."
"To be honest I wasn't either. When her identify was leaked and the rather intimate photos of me were taken we had a fight, purely my fault, and I'm sad to say we didn't part of the best of terms."
"Oh no! But you've fixed it now?"
"No, she hasn't spoken to me since she left and I can't really blame her."
"But you still love her?"
"More than anything."
"Well maybe she will see this and call you. Upset with you or not she seems to be acting as if you're still together."
"She doesn't usually watch these unfortunately but maybe."
"Well she certainly is a feisty woman. I don't know if you've seen the clip yet? We only got it a short time ago."
"The one with Zawe? Yes I've seen it."
"Did you know she could do that?"
"That move specifically? No, but I did know she could defend herself. I'm very proud of her and how she handled the whole thing. I'm grateful Mr. Cavill was ready to help had she needed it as well."
"It doesn't bother you that she's spending so much time with Superman? Especially since you aren't on the best of terms and he's single?"
"Am I jealous? Of course I am a bit, I love her and really have you seen that man? But no it doesn't bother me, even if she ends up with him in the end. I trust her, and had I trusted her more before now we wouldn't be at odds now. I love her enough to want her to be happy, even if it's not with me; something I wish Zawe understood."
