Chapter Seven

00:22, 18 May 2015

*Austin's POV**next day*

"Shutup." Madison said, smiling and smacking my chest.

I smiled and shrugged. "I'm just sayin."

We walked down the hallway, going to lunch. She looked so pretty today. She wore light blue jeans and a white t-shirt with a yin yang symbol on it. Her hair was in a French braid and she wore vintage looking rings on every finger.

We stopped at her locker and she put her books away. "I'm just saying. You still owe me that five bucks."

I chuckled. "How about this. I'll take you out to lunch."

She laughed. "Fine." She closed her locker and went to walk away, but walked right into Colin. She smiled. "I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention."

He turned and looked at her, his eyes scanning her body. Then he smiled at her. "It's okay. You're the new girl, right?"

I put my hand on her back. "Come on Mads. Let's go."

"I'm Madison." She said, shaking his hand.

Colin got a cocky smirk on his face. "I'm Colin. I'm sure you've heard all about me."

I rolled my eyes.

Madison chuckled. "Um, actually, no. I've never heard about you until now."

He looked shocked. "Really?"

She nodded and stepped away. "See you later, Connor."

He grabbed her arm. "It's Colin."

She smiled. "Okay."

He looked over her body again. "Well. Today's your lucky day."

She looked at him. "Yeah?"

I sighed. I knew she would rather hang out with him. He was the cool guy.

He let go of her arm. "I'm gonna let you sit with me at lunch." He motioned to me. "Leave the losers for awhile and hang out with me."

I started to walk away. It was too good to be true. But, Madison grabbed my shirt and pulled me back to her. "Actually, Connor, I'm gonna sit with Austin."

He gritted his teeth. "It's not Connor. It's Colin."

She shrugged. "Sorry."

He looked at me and then at her. "What? Is this geek your boyfriend?"

She smiled and looked at me, then at Colin. "I'll see you around." She took my hand and walked towards the lunch room.

I smiled. She just turned down Colin. The coolest guy in school, for me.

Colin slammed his locker closed. "If you turn me down today, the invitation is gone!" He yelled at her.

She ignored him and kept walking. "What an asshole." She said, letting go of my hand and going to the lunch room.

I looked at her. "I seriously think you're the first girl to ever turn him down."

She shrugged and reached into her bag, pulling a few dollars out and going to the vending machine. "I probably won't be the last."

I looked at her. "You'd really rather hang out with me?"

She smiled. "Yeah." She looked at me. "Wanna split a coke?"

I nodded. "Sure."

She deposited her money and pressed the button, then grabbed her drink. We walked to our table where Mark and Alan sat.

"Where's Scotty?" I asked, sitting down.

"He stayed home today. His mom said he had a fever." Alan said. He shrugged. "He's so lucky he got to stay home."

Madison reached over and took a fry off Alan's lunch tray. "Remind me to stay away from Scotty then. I don't want to get sick."

Mark smiled. "What? You don't wanna stay home from school?"

"No way." She said.

I looked at Mark. "You know Mads just turned down Colin."

Mark frowned. "Really?"

She nodded and smiled. "That guy is a cocky douche bag. I don't wanna be around him." She looked at Mark. "Why is everyone so surprised?"

"Colin is the most popular guy in town. All the girls love him." He said. He pointed to the table Colin sat at. "See that blonde girl? Sitting next to him?"

Madison turned and looked at them, then back at Mark. "Yeah?"

Mark sighed. "She was my girlfriend for almost a year. One day Colin asked her to sit with him, I never spoke to her again."

Madison shook her head. "What a bitch."

Alan threw his arm around Madison and smiled. "Mads would never do that to us."

She smiled and rested her head on his shoulder. "No way. I like you guys too much."

I smiled and held my hand up to my mouth, acting like I was talking into a recorder. "Day two and we've already tricked her into thinking we're cool."

She chuckled and punched my arm. "Shutup."

Mark looked at me. "So are we still on for this weekend?"

I nodded. "Yeah. My parents are leaving tomorrow afternoon. And then the place is ours."

Alan smiled. "Hell yeah."

I looked at Madison. "Actually, Mads, I was wondering if you wanna come over and hang out with us? A little drinking and movies. It'll be kinda lame, but you're definitely invited."

She nodded. "I'll have to see what's going on at home."

"Okay." I said. I patted her back. "Just let me know."
