BONUS CHAPTER 3
'MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING'
⁃⁃⁃⁃♠︎⁃⁃⁃⁃⁃⁃⁃⁃♠︎⁃⁃⁃⁃
♠︎ NIA
"No, you absolute cretin!" Nia hollered down the phone. "What part of no seafood don't you understand?!"
She could barely register the droning from the catering company on the other end of the line before she was yelling again.
"Yes, I am aware that we initially ordered lobster cocktail," she seethed, "but that order was changed two weeks ago to pastry pinwheels, which if you checked your records you'd see- what? No, I will not hold! Get me your manager this instant you incompetent slug!"
"Ni," came your calming voice from across the room. The hair stylist was currently twisting your hair into a bun while you sipped orange juice happily. "Calm down. Lobster is fine, if that's all they have. I changed my mind way too last minute anyway."
"Bitch, it's your wedding day, and I will get you these fucking pastry pinwheels if it's the last thing I do," Nia seethed, feeling like she might break the phone if she squeezed it any harder.
You just grinned up at her, oblivious to the potential hulking out she was about to do, the look of wedded bliss on your face already too sickening for Nia to bear.
It was ridiculous. You weren't even married yet.
Nia genuinely believed that she was put on this Earth to organise things. All her life she had been a leader, and so planning and running events came naturally to her. In another life, if she didn't love to dance so much, she would have been an events planner.
But she was beginning to rethink that now. Because organising your wedding had been the most stressful experience of her entire life.
Finally, after months of showers and fittings and rehearsals and planning and re-planning, the big day had arrived. Nia had to keep reminding herself that this time tomorrow, it would all be over. She could go back to Daegu, back to her own life, having thrown the most epic wedding in all of existence for her best friend and the Coochie Whisperer.
Right now, though, she had to see a man about a pastry, and she was afraid it was about to get violent. Pastries were at serious risk of going places they definitely shouldn't be going.
"Ni," you reached for her across the room, making Nia go to you automatically and take hold of your hand. You squeezed it gently, a serene look on your face as you blinked up at her. "Please, don't worry. Everything is going to be perfect."
"You're damn right it is," Nia huffed, hanging up the phone, though she allowed you to stroke her hand with your thumb. Admittedly, it felt nice.
God damn emotions and best friends, making her feel things.
"And hey, if it isn't perfect, that's fine too," you grinned up at her again in that mooning, lovedrunk way Nia could have vommed over. "Because I'm getting married today, that's the most important thing. So will you please promise me that you'll at least relax and enjoy yourself for some of it?"
"If I relax, who is going to stress about everything getting done?" Nia asked you, already thinking about twenty other things she needed to do before you got into your dress. It was ten in the morning, the ceremony was at two, and even four hours felt like not nearly enough time.
Not in the least, because she was dreading having to walk down that aisle at two o'clock herself.
"Ni," you said, more sternly now, forcing her to sit on the bed of your hotel suite and face you. You could be quite formidable when you wanted, Nia thought - not as formidable as her, but scary enough. "Talk to me. You're freaking out."
"I am not freaking out," she hissed, rolling her eyes. She was mainly trying to mask her own embarrassment. It was supposed to be her comforting you today, not the other way around.
But you were so ready to get married, you didn't even seem nervous. Even after such a short time - it had been two and a half years since the vacation where you fell in love, and only a year of an engagement - you were more than ready.
Nia noticed that something happened to you whenever you talked about - or to - Jungkook. You still had that acerbic wit, and make no mistake, you kept him on his toes even after all this time; but anyone could see that you were head over heels for him, as he was for you.
It made Nia unendingly happy for you, but at the same time, deeply uncertain of if this would ever happen to her. Would anyone ever look at her the way Jungkook looked at you? The more time she spent around the two of you, watching you grow ever closer, the more she doubted it. You and Jungkook were inseparable; you were so comfortable with each others' imperfections, in a way Nia could never be.
She would never have the courage to be that vulnerable.
"Look, all you have to do today to succeed as my maid of honour," you were saying now, "is two things."
Nia rolled her eyes, but let you carry on anyway.
You held up one finger in front of her face.
"Number one, have fun," you said predictably, making Nia sigh and nod in agreement. "And number two-"
You pulled Nia in by the wrist.
"Do not tell Jungkook the Big Secret," you finished, the blissful look in your eyes replaced with seriousness.
Ah, yes.
That was the other thing that was likely to give Nia a heart attack before the day was out. The Big Secret.
Before Nia could even go into the finer details of said secret with you, her phone was ringing once more. She sighed, ready to deliver another onslaught of insults to the poor catering company as she answered.
"Well? Are there fresh, delicious pastries on the way or am I going to have to come down there and castrate someone?" she demanded.
"Uh, no," came a horrifyingly familiar voice, who was certainly not from the catering company. "But that sounds painful."
"Oh," Nia said awkwardly, as anxiety shot through her, twisting her stomach uncomfortably. "Hello, Namjoon."
"Hello, Nia," he responded in that infuriatingly gorgeous way he always had. Nia hated him for it.
Well, okay, no she didn't. But she hated him for very little, so she was going to have to make do with this for now.
He, on the other hand, had much more reason to hate her.
And that made him at least fifty percent of the reason she was so nervous to walk down that aisle later, as your maid of honour.
On the arm of her ex... well. Not ex-boyfriend. Ex-fuck buddy? Ex-lover?
Either way, it didn't matter today. Today, he was simply Jungkook's best man.
"Can I help you with something?" she asked him now, trying to keep her tone as casual as possible.
"Not me specifically, no," Namjoon continued, in that sure, steady voice that always made Nia feel like she was drowning in whiskey in the best way possible. "But I do have a very nervous groom here who wants to talk to his fiance."
Nia rolled her eyes. "Nervous? He's only been apart from her for one night."
But it was too late. You had clearly caught on to what Namjoon was saying, and your face had lit up, waving your hand enthusiastically at Nia for her to pass you the phone.
"Ugh, fine," she conceded, adding to Namjoon before she handed it over - "but tell him to keep it brief or I'll personally shove this phone into a very difficult place."
"I'll tell him. It's been a pleasure as always, Nia," Namjoon replied, and Nia could imagine the amused smile playing on his lips as he voiced it.
Not that she ever thought about his voice. Or his smile. Or his gorgeous dimples that punctured both cheeks.
Nope, never thought about that at all.
As you spoke soothingly to your husband-to-be, holding the phone away from your face so you didn't ruin your make up, Nia tried not to think about him now, either.
Or how likely it would be that she would be sitting in that seat, preparing for her own wedding right now, if she hadn't been such a goddamn coward.
⁃⁃♠︎⁃⁃
The rest of the day went off without a hitch.
Largely due to Nia hovering above you the whole time, you didn't spend too long on the phone to Jungkook, simply reassuring him that you weren't going to make a run for it before you made it down the aisle. Why Jungkook was even worried, Nia had no idea - she'd never seen two people more in love in her entire life - but in the last few years she'd learned that Jungkook was far more introverted and unsure of himself than he came across.
Nia sort of liked it about him. Not that she'd ever tell him that. She needed him to remain absolutely terrified of her, so that he would never hurt her best friend.
Her terror-inducing reputation had been momentarily put on hold as she wept her way through the ceremony. In fact, there were a number of crying eyes in the room; firstly, Jungkook, the moment he saw you appear at the door. And then everyone else turned on the waterworks, especially at the vows, which the pair of you had written yourselves. Even Yoongi, who had initially insisted on remaining stoic for the entire ceremony, had broken down during Jungkook's beautifully written vows, having to rely on a bemused Jimin to wipe his face with his sleeves.
Nia peeked around at the wet-eyed congregation, and gave herself an internal fist bump.
So good it made 'em cry, she thought, triumphant. Good job, Ni.
The reception drinks and dinner went off entirely smoothly, and as you and Jungkook took your place on the floor for your first dance, Nia felt a tiny unknotting in her stomach. So far, everything had gone right. All that was left now was making sure nobody got too drunk and started a fight, or ruined your dress, or cut the cake before you did.
She stood triumphant at the edge of the dancefloor, watching you and Jungkook swaying slowly, your head tucked into his shoulder as he murmed to you happily. You both looked so content, and Nia felt a huge sense of relief already. Her job was so nearly complete, the light visible at the end of this nightmarish wedding tunnel -
Until a certain extremely tall someone blocked it with his frame.
"Uh... hi," Namjoon greeted, gazing down at her.
Nia fixed him with a fierce stare. She really had no reason to be mad at him, but still, having to be constantly reminded that he was there was driving her a little insane. It was bad enough that she'd had to walk down the aisle with him, and then listen to his (admittedly wonderful) best man speech at the reception. Now, she just wanted to enjoy her evening until they could go their separate ways.
"Do you need something?" she asked, trying to keep her voice even.
Namjoon just blinked at her. "Can I help with anything?" he asked, his expression entirely serious, and god damn he looked so fricking fine when he was being serious. "Do you need me to... do anything? I can go check on the cake if you want."
Nia was about to scoff at him - it was all well and good him asking if he can help now, when the wedding was nearly over - but she stopped herself. Begrudgingly, she had to admit that Namjoon had been a great wedding planning partner. He had organised everything to do with the groom's side of things - outfits, bachelor parties, invitations for Jungkook's side of guests.
Curse that mature-ass handsome giant of a man, she muttered under her breath, before she realised he was still awaiting an answer.
"No," she told him curtly, making to move past him. "All under control, thanks. Now if you'll excuse me-"
"Wait," Namjoon threw an arm out, stopping her from passing.
Nia raised an eyebrow. People did not order her around. "Is there something else?" she asked sharply.
"Yes," he nodded, eyes still trained on hers. "Will you dance with me?"
Nia nearly laughed aloud. Namjoon wanted to dance? With her? She could barely believe it. She was sure it must all be some sort of elaborate prank. Or could he seriously be asking her to dance, simply because he wanted to?
"It's customary," he informed her in that deep whiskey voice when she didn't reply, "for us to dance together, after the first dance. The maid of honour, and the best man."
"Well..." Nia trailed off, having never heard this rule before, but realising it was probably true. Her heart sank a little at this; if he was correct, then he was only asking out of some kind of traditional duty, and though she fully deserved that, she couldn't pretend it didn't hurt.
"But you know that already," Namjoon said, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Right? You're the wedding planner, after all."
Nia sensed from his gaze that he was mocking her now. Challenging her. And as reckless as it might be, Nia did not back down from a challenge.
"Fine," she took his hand, but she glared at him still. "One dance."
Namjoon looked triumphant despite her deathly stare, leading her out onto the dancefloor. His hand settled at her waist, the other taking her palm, and Nia huffed; though this was largely at herself, for the way her pulse raced when he touched her.
Still, Namjoon looked disconcerted by her frown. "Is there some reason why you're so unhappy to dance with me right now?" he asked.
Nia huffed. She hated it when he did this - addressed things out in the open that she would find inordinately difficult to talk about, in that calm, gorgeous voice of his.
It was so damn mature of him.
"No," she replied honestly, as they swayed in slow circles. "But I'd have thought you'd at least be unhappy to dance with me."
Namjoon's gaze didn't falter, but Nia thought she saw hurt flash temporarily through his eyes. It made her heart clench, remembering that day.
The day she had walked away from him permanently.
"I won't pretend you didn't hurt me," he said now, still turning Nia in perfect rhythm, as if they weren't discussing the difficult breakdown of whatever they had been, all those years prior. "But I'm not one to hold a grudge, Ni. I forgave you a long time ago."
I struggle to believe that, she thought to herself.
After all, she had treated him like shit. For months after they all returned from the island, she and Namjoon had continued to see each other, visiting each other in either Daegu or Seoul. Nia loved those trips; loved spending endless hours with Namjoon, doing anything and everything together. He showed her his art collection, and she showed him the sculptures she worked on in her free time.
It was the best three months of Nia's life.
But they had never labelled it. And the longer they left it, the more afraid Nia became. After all, she had just spent years in love with her best friend, who turned out to not be interested in women at all. And besides Yoongi, men were only interested in Nia for sex, and nothing more. Nia was too brash, too loud, too confident to be a good partner. She was one-night stand material, not girlfriend material.
So when Namjoon wanted a girlfriend, and not a fling any more, she panicked. Namjoon deserved the best, and she was damaged goods. She wasn't the girl for the job, Nia told herself.
And then she ran.
Now, though, Namjoon was confusing her. Because instead of hating her for that, here he was, telling her that he forgave her.
It threw everything she thought she knew into question.
"Well... that's good," she said now, tentative and uncertain. She was becoming more and more aware of the way Namjoon's hand fit perfectly into the curve at her waist, the strip of smooth olive skin peeking out above his shirt collar. "I'm glad we can move on."
"I didn't say I'd moved on," Namjoon corrected. His gaze was dark and steady between dark strands of hair that fell in front of his eyes. "I said I'd forgiven you. Not that I'd moved on."
Nia's pulse jumped at the insinuation. What the hell was he playing at?
"Right," she half-scoffed, unwilling to believe him. "It's been nearly two years since we... since then. You're seriously telling me that-"
"I'm telling you," Namjoon cut her off, his tone low and intense. "That there hasn't been anyone since you, Ni."
Nia stopped in her tracks. The pair of them stood still on the dancefloor, as she gazed up at him.
She could barely weigh up the enormity of this revelation. If Namjoon hadn't been with anyone since her, it might mean that he didn't hate her. More than that, it might mean that he still... he still...
No, the vicious voice inside her head told her. No, he stopped feeling that way about you the minute you walked away.
But the voice in her head and the way Namjoon looked at her right now, his mouth hovering just above hers, were at odds. Nia couldn't reckon with either of them; couldn't reconcile them in her mind.
So she had to get out of there.
"I'm sorry," she detangled herself from his grip, stepping backwards as her heart raced. "I can't... I need to-"
Instead of articulating it, Nia showed him what she needed, turning on her heel and leaving the dancefloor abruptly.
Fresh air, she told herself, feeling the room spin as she headed for the doors that led to the hotel's gardens. Get some fresh air, you need to get away from him.
Nia felt the breeze hit her face like a sobering punch, gulping it down as she pushed through the door and into the gardens. For several second she stayed there, one hand pressed to her heart, willing it to calm down and for the emotion that choked her throat to recede.
Because being there, in his arms, had brought back far too many feelings that Nia had been trying to keep under wraps for a long time now.
"Ni," came a quiet voice from behind her, making her jolt. She recognised it immediately.
"Go back inside," she choked out, the emotion unhideable in her voice now. But if anything, this drew him in closer, footsteps clicking behind her until she gasped a little at the press of his hand against her shoulder.
"Nia," he said, the sound of her full name rich and delicious from his mouth, feeling like it was reverberating in her soul. "I have to tell you the truth. You know that."
"Don't," she asked him quietly, eyes closing, but it was no use. He was telling her anyway.
"I miss you, angel," he murmured, making her heart shatter. "I miss you so much."
With that old nickname, Nia couldn't take it any more. She turned around.
Namjoon looked like he would crumble if she so much as touched him. It made her feel powerful and tremble with fear all at once, but she knew what she wanted now. It was the same as what she had wanted all this time. It had never changed.
"Kiss me," she demanded in a low, desperate whisper.
Namjoon took only a second to do just that.
His lips were as soft as she remembered, so familiar that it made her more emotional, coiling her arms around his neck and melting into him. He was warm and inviting and he let her in, his hands going around her waist as he clutched her to him. It was slow, and passionate, and it felt as if he were trying to re-learn her, as if every press of his mouth or stroke of his hands would bring her back to him.
And Nia felt the same. Felt like she was awaking from a deep, deep sleep, one she had entered the day she walked away.
"Ni," he murmured between kisses.
"Namjoon," she replied, knowing that rather than each others' names, they were saying, I'm here. I'm awake now.
Namjoon walked her back against the door, pressing her into it, and Nia felt a flare of lust in her stomach at the warmth of his muscular frame against hers. But before she could explore it further, Namjoon was pulling back for air, letting their breath form clouds in the cold air, as he held her close.
Nia felt like her head was spinning. She was drunk on him, on the lust she felt for him in this moment, her vision focusing in on nothing except Namjoon.
"I still want you, Ni," he told her now, honesty blazing in his eyes. A finger traced down her face, brushing away a stray strand of hair, while the other stroked her spine, keeping her in his hold.
It was everything Nia had wanted to hear, and everything she didn't want to hear at the same time. It was too much, too soon, too intense, and she was panicking.
"I'm not good for you," she told him, a tear escaping her eye and sliding down her cheek as she told him. She felt vulnerable, an emotion she virtually never experienced, and it almost annoyed her that she couldn't be strong in this moment.
Namjoon tutted, looking almost amused. "Silly woman," he told her, wiping the tear with his thumb. "You're perfect for me."
But Nia was already shaking her head. Already remembering that she could never be as open about her vulnerabilities and insecurities as you were with Jungkook. Remembering that Namjoon deserved far more than a woman who couldn't open up about her feelings.
And so, just like she always did, she was running from them.
"I'm sorry," she whispered pathetically, before she slipped from between him and the door. "I'm sorry, Namjoon."
She didn't look back as she stumbled back inside, trying to calm down her jagged breathing as she returned to her table. Nia was too afraid to see the crestfallen look on his face if she turned around, to see the hurt painted across it.
She knew this was for the best. Had been telling herself that for nearly two years now.
But if this was the best outcome... why did it feel so wrong?
⁃⁃♠︎⁃⁃
The remainder of the night was a blur.
Nia tried to focus. She tried to make sure everything was as it should be - that the cutting of the cake was filmed, that everyone was happy and dancing and having a good time. But honestly, she was distracted. Her mind was elsewhere.
It was still pressed against that door, Namjoon's lips hot and insistent against hers.
Why the fuck had she done that? She was not this kind of woman - the kind that couldn't control herself, that let herself go weak for a man, of all things.
But Namjoon was a weakness. One of only a few that she had, but a fucking big one, at that.
Because even now, as horrified as she was with her own actions, she was thinking about what it would be like to drag him into a dark corner of a private room, and do it all over again.
Eventually, Nia was sick of pretending she was mentally present for the rest of the night. She gave you a huge hug, making you cry as you thanked her over and over again for her planning, for changing the lobster cocktail, and for a million other things. Nia hugged you back, before excusing herself and heading for the elevators. It was still early, by wedding standards - still before midnight, at least - but she couldn't take another second of being in the same room as Namjoon, his dark eyes seemingly locked on her as she moved around the room.
It made her feel hot and tense and uneasy. She needed a break.
Back in her own room, she pressed her forehead into the cool wood of the door. She was warm all over, but she didn't change out of her bridesmaid's dress yet. She wouldn't be able to sleep anyway. She felt too awake, like an electric current was pulsing through her veins.
I still want you, Ni.
Fuck, the words he had said. Nia couldn't get rid of them. They circulated her brain, becoming a swirl of lust and emotion and nostalgia for something she couldn't quite place.
There hasn't been anyone since you.
It couldn't be true. Surely not. But Nia realised it was true for her, too. She hadn't wanted anyone else since she'd run away from Namjoon.
It was only now that she was beginning to wonder why that was.
I miss you, angel. I miss you so much.
It was these words that stuck with her the most, because all she had done for the last few years was beat herself up for running away from the one man who had ever treated her right, and all this time he had been missing her.
And god, did she miss him too. She missed him so much it made her heart feel like it was wrenching out of her chest.
So why are you here? a voice in her head asked, and it wasn't Namjoon's any more - it was yours. Nia often heard her best friend's voice in her head in times like these, urging her to do the right thing, and tonight was no different. Why are you sulking in your room when you could be down the hall, telling him all of this in person? It's time to woman up, Ni.
Nia would have argued with the imaginary you, if you hadn't been so completely correct.
Before she could stop herself, she was out of her room and moving down the corridor. She hated herself for remembering his room number from the guest list, but was silently thanking herself at the same time.
Because what she was about to do was either incredibly stupid, or something she had been putting off for far too long.
No one answered at the first knock. Nia's pounding heart began to slow as she realised it was still only around eleven thirty; he was probably still downstairs with the rest of the wedding party.
Cursing herself for such a stupid, reckless move, she turned to head back to her own room, when a noise at the end of the corridor made her glance towards it.
Namjoon was standing at the end of the hallway, the elevator doors closing behind him.
He was only in his shirt with his jacket in his hand, his tie hung open around his neck, a few shirt buttons undone to reveal the gorgeous olive skin that Nia desperately wanted to lick. He still looked unbelievably handsome, but it was altered somehow; instead of looking sleek and mature as he did earlier, now he looked a little dishevelled, his hair mussed so it fell in front of dark eyes, trained on her and her alone.
It was so fucking hot.
She knew at once this had been the right choice.
"Ni," he murmured. It was almost a groan - a pleading, tortured sound, as if to say, Ni, don't do this to me.
But Nia had always been selfish, and tonight was no exception. Before she could second-guess herself, she was striding down the corridor towards him.
Her heart raced and her legs shook but they got her there in seconds. Namjoon let his jacket thump to the floor. And then she was there, his shoulders were under her palms, his hands at her waist, and her mouth found his again in a desperate meeting.
They were a flurry of gasps and hands and mouths, as needy for one another as they had been out in the gardens, except this time there was no stopping. Namjoon held her in a fierce grip, pulling her body flush against his, feeling the hard planes of his chest as he devoured her with his lips. He was an unbelievable kisser, controlled and passionate, but Nia could sense something wild in him tonight; something he proved when he began to move her down the corridor towards his room.
She looked questioningly down at his jacket on the floor beside them.
"Leave it," he shook his head, walking her backwards. "Not important."
Nia wasn't one to argue with that.
It only took Namjoon a few long strides to reach his door, virtually carrying Nia with him, their mouths not leaving each others' once. He fumbled for his room card, pushing it clumsily into the reader until it went green, and then they were tumbling into his room and he was tugging at her dress and holy shit, this was really fucking happening.
"Namjoon," she managed in a shaking whisper, sounding uncertain even as her hands moved deftly over his shirt buttons. She needed him naked, immediately, or she might explode.
"Nia," he returned, waiting for her to tell him to stop. But his eyes were brown and honest and she was in safe hands, she knew that. She was always in safe hands with Namjoon.
She didn't want to stop.
"I want you so bad," she told him instead, giving him the consent he was looking for.
"Fuck," he let out, his breath warm against her lips. "Me too, Ni."
Then he was kissing her again, and Nia lost herself in him.
There was no time for foreplay. It had been years, and they were desperate for one another; exploration was going to have to wait. Instead, Nia pushed Namjoon back onto the bed, letting him handle his own trousers and briefs while she tugged down her dress and pulled off her underwear. She was naked in front of a man for the first time in a long time; but she wasn't nervous.
This was largely due to Namjoon, reclined against the pillows like some kind of olive-skinned god, and yet gazing at her naked figure like she was carved by angels.
Nia felt the blush paint her cheeks, the confident sexiness she had always experienced around Namjoon returning to her like the warmth of the sun after a long, cold night. No one had ever made her feel as sexy as Namjoon did.
"Get over here," he half-demanded, half-pleaded her.
Nia obeyed, crawling to him across the sheets and straddling his hips, noting that he was already fully hard, his cock thick and slapping up against his stomach. She was wet for him too, and Namjoon groaned at the realisation, as her slick folds met the underside of his length.
"You still on the pill?" he asked her, voice breathy and strung out, and she nodded.
"Yeah," she told him, raising up a little and gripping him in her hand, aligning her opening with the tip of his cock.
"Nia," he said, making her pause at the use of her full name. "Wait. Don't."
She froze above him, stomach sinking. "Don't?"
Namjoon's eyes were like pools of ink, but there was reservation in them. "Don't do this unless you're sure," he replied, uncertainty in his tone. "I can't... I won't survive losing you again."
The implication of his words, so honest and direct, were like a punch to the gut.
Nia should have known that Namjoon was not one to do this without considering the consequences. He didn't want to hurt her, or himself. He wanted to know that she wasn't going to run this time. That she was all in.
The last time they'd had this conversation, she had fled without looking back. And yet, as she considered it now, she felt no fear, or hesitancy.
That wasn't for some lame romantic reason, like having Namjoon naked beneath her had suddenly cured her of every insecurity she'd ever had. Life simply didn't work like that, and even a man as kind and patient as him would never be responsible for her sense of identity and self-esteem.
She would always have insecurities, like everyone else did. What had changed was her realisation that Namjoon liked her anyway. Not despite those insecurities, but because of them.
It was like he'd said earlier. She was perfect for him, even though she herself was not perfect.
And that realisation was so strong, it nearly made tears prick in her eyes.
But she swallowed them down, knowing now was not the time. Instead, she gazed down at him with certainty, and made her decision.
"Fuck," Namjoon gasped, as she sat slowly onto his cock. His eyes were wide with surprise and pleasure. "Ni..."
"I left because I was scared," she told him, as she sunk down, loving the stretch of it. "That if you knew me, you wouldn't want me."
"Impossible," he managed, though his lip was drawn up between his teeth.
"I can be annoying, Namjoon," she continued, spurred on by how much he seemed to want her regardless of what she felt were her weaknesses. "And bossy. And really fucking loud."
Namjoon grinned at her, gripping her waist in his large hands. "Good. Be loud. I like it when you're loud."
She nearly rolled her eyes at his meaning. "I don't mean like that-"
"I know how you meant it," he urged her on, as she raised her hips and dropped them again, making him groan a little. "I know you, Ni. I know you're loud. I know you're bossy. I love that about you."
Nia felt the love surge through her, mixing with the lust in her veins. For the first time, she felt seen, fully seen, by him. And he wasn't going anywhere.
"I was wrong to leave," she admitted, the final layer of herself finally stripping itself away. "I'm still scared. But I don't want to be scared any more. I want to be with you."
"Shit," Namjoon replied, shocked and elated at once, trying to marry her emotional confession to the lustful movements of her hips. "Ni - oh, god, you're making me so happy right now."
Nia's heart nearly exploded. She kept lowering herself onto him, so she was seated on his cock, loving the familiar stretch of taking him that she remembered from before.
"You're so fucking tight," he groaned, his face a picture of exquisite agony.
"Take it," Nia told him, feeling a surge of dominance as she squeezed his hips with her thighs, grinding her core onto his cock deliciously in slow circles, remembering that he liked how bossy she was.
Namjoon smirked. "You take it," he threw back, fighting her for control. And with that, Nia fell into a steady rhythm, making both of them descend into a chorus of gasps and moans.
It was heaven. Nia had almost forgotten how good he was at this, how much experience Namjoon actually had; and yet she knew at the same time that sex would only ever be this good with him. The way he was so broad and steady beneath her; and the way he looked at her, as if he'd never seen anything so good in his entire life.
"You're a fucking goddess, Ni," he told her now, biting his lip as his eyes raked over her thick figure, the soft roundness of her stomach, her breasts bouncing as she rode his cock. "Can't believe you're even real sometimes."
"We've done this before, y'know," Nia retorted cynically, though she beamed down at him as he spoke.
"It's been too long," he told her, returning her smile. "Nearly forgot this is how gorgeous you are in real life."
Nia felt like she was radiating with the praise, though the same could be said for him. He looked unbelievable right now, strong arms keeping her steady as she sped up a little, his hair painted against his face with perspiration in a way that made Nia feel wild.
But she couldn't quite get to the edge. Even as she threw a hand out to grip the headboard, using it for leverage to fuck him harder, she was missing the steady, powerful way that Namjoon used to fuck her.
Luckily, he knew her far too well, seeing the disappointment cross her features.
"Here, angel-" he paused her, before raising his feet to rest flat on the bed behind her, his knees bent. The angle was new as she raised up a little, but best of all, he was able to match her thrust for thrust now. His hands dug into her hips as he thrust up into her, making her gasp in delight, her whole body on fire as his cock hit exactly the right place inside her.
"There you go," he grinned, loving the way her face lit up with pleasure as his cock began to pound into her. "That's it, Ni, that's how fucking hard you like it, huh?"
"Yes," she nodded frantically, moving her hands to cover his own, letting Namjoon control the pace. "Fuck, Namjoon, you always fuck me so good."
"That's right," he replied, pleased with himself and with her reaction, the way her thighs began to tremble above him and her mouth dropped open with soft moans. "I'll fuck you like this forever if that's what you want. Keep this pussy wet and shaking for me daily."
Holy fucking shitballs, Nia thought. She wasn't capable of any coherent thought when Namjoon spoke like that.
"You never used to... talk this dirty," she gasped, feeling the pulse of her orgasm begin to throb in her core, spurred on by his dirty words. Namjoon had always been one to act, rather than talk - and yet here he was, proving once again that he could do both.
Namjoon grinned. "Never used to have to work for it, did I? You used to moan for me with just one finger inside you."
He was tipping ever so slightly into arrogance, which on anyone else would drive Nia mad. But on Namjoon? God, it just made her more desperate.
Still, she managed to control herself enough to roll her eyes, feeling him fuck up into her, his pace increasing. "Fuck you," she hissed, though it escaped as more of a whispered moan.
"So stubborn," Namjoon tutted, the dimple in his cheek showing as he smirked even wider, making Nia go wild. Her release was so close she could almost taste it. "But look at you right now, Ni. Almost as desperate for it as I am for you."
Nia opened her mouth to respond but found she could no longer form words, not when Namjoon could form them so much better than her. And besides, his cock was hitting that place inside her with every thrust now, and she realised that her ability to do anything except moan his name were rapidly decreasing.
She realised she was, as she had said to you countless times before, dickmatized.
And it felt really fucking good.
"C'mon, Ni," he urged her, hammering into her so hard that she knew she was going to come harder than she ever had before. "Come all over me. Let me have it."
Nia couldn't hold back any longer. Her back arched, and then curved forward, the orgasm ripping through her with terrific force. Her whole body shook with pleasure, sensing too that Namjoon was coming in a tortured groan, his head raising ever so slightly to meet hers as he spilled his load inside her. Their mouths hovered, moans filtering into each others' mouths as they both trembled together.
Her whole body buzzed, bathing in the afterglow of what they had just done as they came down from their highs, breathing beginning to slow. She barely felt able to keep her eyes open, let alone speak - but she gave it a go anyway, spurred on by the stardust in her veins.
"Fuck, that was amazing," she panted, gazing down at Namjoon. He was still buried inside her, softening slowly, and he looked up at her like she contained galaxies in her eyes.
It made her pulse with affection for him. She had never, ever felt this way for someone - and it terrified her, ever so slightly. But looking down at him now, at his steadying arms, his blissful grin, she knew there was really nothing to be frightened of.
Namjoon had her. Namjoon would not let her run away again.
She smiled at him, opening her mouth to speak again - when the door clicked on the other side of the room.
Nia barely had time to fling her arms backwards for the covers, pulling them up over her naked frame before she turned to the two figures in the doorway, who had frozen in shock.
"Woah," Jungkook said, his cheeks flushed from alcohol as he gazed at Nia and Namjoon. His bow tie was hanging untied around his neck, his shirt undone a few buttons and rolled at the sleeves. He looked drunk as hell.
"Fuck yeah!" you announced from next to Jungkook with a huge smile on your face, grinning at Nia and Namjoon, who were still frozen in bed. Nia hadn't even had time to dismount him - she sat still atop him, the covers pulled tightly over her shoulders, his cock still inside her.
"Do you guys mind?!" Nia hollered, taking in both of your dishevelled appearances - your smudged lipstick, and Jungkook's blown-out eyes. Clearly, you'd just been making out.
Nia huffed internally. The two of you were like rabbits.
Literally, in Jungkook's case.
"Sorry," you said, looking not sorry at all as you pointed between Namjoon and Nia above him. "Wrong room. We'll leave you two to it."
Jungkook looked upset by this, pouting at you. "Huh? What about finding a room to - you know..."
"Bone in?" Nia offered, highly amused by this turn of events.
"Yup," Jungkook nodded drunkenly while you rolled your eyes. "Bone in."
"Don't you guys have your own room?" Namjoon wondered from beneath Nia, and Nia sensed he was entirely embarrassed by this whole thing.
"If you think we're doing any boning whatsoever when you're this drunk, you're mistaken," you told Jungkook firmly, ignoring Namjoon. Jungkook just hiccuped in reply, and then looked at Nia and Namjoon with amusement on his lazy features.
Nia nearly giggled. He was clearly wasted.
"Oh, and you're not drunk too, hm?" Jungkook accused you now, wrapping an arm around your waist. "You're a lightweight, baby."
"She's not even drinking," Nia chimed in without thinking, before realising her mistake with a racing heart.
Shit shit shit.
She prayed he was too wasted to notice, but no such luck. Jungkook, though drunk, took only a moment to realise what she'd said.
"Huh?" he said, brow furrowing at Nia, and then at you beside him in the doorway. "Not drinking? Why not? And how did I not notice that?"
"Uh," you said nonchalantly, though there was tension in your features. "I just wanted to... enjoy our big day. Remember it all, y'know?"
Jungkook scoffed, which for a very drunk person meant stumbling back a little until he hit the doorframe.
"Well, that's a lie," he announced, much like a petulant toddler.
You narrowed your eyes at him, hands on the hips of your perfect cream satin dress you'd changed into for the reception. "I'm sorry?"
Jungkook nodded. "Mm. Y'got that little crease in your brow, baby. S'always there when you lie."
Your mouth opened, and then shut again. You glanced at Nia in panic, and she knew this was a cry for help.
Don't tell Jungkook the Big Secret.
The Big Secret that had meant Nia had to verbally abuse a chef because you had suddenly formed an 'intolerance' to lobster. The Big Secret that had caused Nia to order in a few bottles of alcohol-free champagne, so no one would notice you weren't drinking. She'd had to fly it in especially for the ceremony.
Yeah, safe to say, Nia was sort of sick of keeping the Big Secret a secret any longer.
So she took a risk - one she hoped (and deep down, knew) you wouldn't kill her for.
"Juan," she said, making Jungkook look at her in bewilderment. "Isn't it obvious? She's pregnant."
Everyone in the room went quiet. Clearly, Namjoon hadn't know this, and he gasped a little below Nia, who had entirely forgotten that she was still naked and astride him beneath the covers.
Jungkook went completely still, the colour draining a little from his face.
"Shit," he marvelled, stunned in his tracks as he gazed down at you. "F'real?"
You shot him a timid, hopeful smile, reaching for the loose bow tie around his neck and playing with it for a second. "Mhm."
Jungkook blinked. "Huh. M'gonna be a dad," he said, almost in a daze. He turned to Namjoon, who was still frozen beneath Nia. "Hyung, wassit like being a dad?"
"Wouldn't know, Jungkookie," Namjoon admitted with a slight shrug, still looking entirely uncomfortable at the fact that two people had just walked in on him after sex when he'd had no chance to recover. "I've never been one."
"You're basically my dad," Jungkook reasoned ridiculously.
Namjoon grimaced, making Nia laugh. "That's weird, dude."
"M'gonna be a dad," Jungkook repeated, ignoring Namjoon's words. He returned his gaze to you, beaming at you as he took your waist again. "We're gonna be parents!"
"Kookie, you are being far too casual about this," you said sternly, but Nia could see your delight at his reaction in your rosy cheeks as you propped up your new husband, squeezing his shoulders. "Are you not freaking out?"
Jungkook blinked once before he shrugged, grinning at you. "No. We already have Snoop."
You rolled your eyes at him. "Snoop Frog isn't a baby, Kookie-"
"And m'actually not that surprised," Jungkook continued factually, swaying a little in your arms. "Cause of how many times I've cum inside-"
"Okay, yep, you're cool with it," you interrupted him abruptly, as Nia and Namjoon snorted in response, descending into giggles. Your cheeks began to go red as you tried to usher Jungkook out of the room.
"What?" Jungkook whined, pouting like an adorable bunny even though you were right this second struggling under his sheer muscular weight. "S'just a breeding kink, baby! No need t'be embrass- bembass- membarrassed about it."
"I'm not membarrassed," you rolled your eyes at Jungkook, glancing back at Nia and Namjoon with a wince. "Sorry about him. Doesn't know what he's saying when he's wasted."
"Oh, I think he knows exactly what he's saying," Nia laughed, watching as you hauled Jungkook towards the door.
"Yes. Well. Right. We'll be off, then," you announced, cheeks like tomatoes now, shoving Jungkook out of the room unceremoniously. "You two just go back to... whatever it was you were, um, doing. Okay. Goodnight!"
Jungkook hollered from behind you, peeking over your shoulder. "Use protection, hyung! Unless you want a baby like meeeeeeee-"
The door shut with a decisive click.
Nia glanced at Namjoon, who gazed back at her for a moment of total silence - before they both burst out laughing.
"They're gonna be chaotic parents," Namjoon grinned up at her, and she nodded in agreement. His broad hands squeezed her hips between them.
The sensation sent a thrill through Nia. She was feeling blissfully satisfied, but this was Namjoon she was dealing with. She had never been able to get enough of him.
"Where were we?" she murmured, tracing her fingers down Namjoon's chest as she settled back on top of him, dropping the covers around her shoulders so that she was bare once more.
He grinned broadly at her, dimples showing for what felt like the first time in an age. He knew what she was saying, implicitly. That she wanted to stay. That she wasn't running away any more.
"Making up for lost time," Namjoon replied, before flipping her, Nia's back hitting the pillows with a thump. His cock slipped from her as he did, and she had barely a second to gasp at the loss before his lips were at her neck, hot and insistent.
"Wanna taste you, Ni," he told her. Nia felt like she might explode, the ferocity of lust returning to her incredibly fast after yours and Jungkook's interruption. Her hips gripped Namjoon's, making him groan. "That cool with you?"
"Yes," Nia gasped - as if she could ever say no, when he was already beginning to trail his kisses down over her bare chest towards her navel. "Fuck - yeah."
Namjoon chuckled, taking her thighs in both hands and easing them apart gently as he rested on his knees between them. His gaze dropped to the space between her legs, and then met her eye, hungry and intense.
"You want this?" he said seriously. "You're sure?"
Nia knew he was asking about so much more than just right now.
Namjoon wanted her back. He still wanted her. Had never stopped. And the knowledge of that made her feel immensely happy, as if she had known it all along but needed him to confirm it.
He still wanted her, despite how flawed and imperfect she was.
And fuck, did she want him back.
"I'm certain. I want you," she said now, meeting his eye steadily. She surprised herself with the fact that it was entirely honest.
She was certain. It was Namjoon or no one.
His crooked smile gave away how happy he was with this answer, and Nia briefly let her heart race at his beautiful dimples before he was dipping his head to meet her core.
"Good," his breath fanned over her clit, making her whine. "Cause I don't plan on letting you go again, Ni. Not making the same mistake twice."
Nia grinned up at the ceiling, threading a hand into Namjoon's hair. "Neither do I," she admitted, feeling a newfound thrill at her ability to admit mistakes in front of him. To be together in recognising where they had gone wrong, and where things were going to go right.
So now felt like the right time to tell him something she'd been keeping a secret for a long time. Even longer than the Big Secret.
"I like you so much," she breathed, feeling Namjoon's mouth pause against her core at her honesty. She gathered enough courage to continue, realising something even as she said it. "No, wait - shit. I love you. How did I not realise that? Obviously I do."
Namjoon's lips curved into a smile against her core, making her body sing with pleasure and satisfaction. He turned, pressing a kiss into her inner thigh.
Nia sighed, melting into his touch, spurred on by his reaction as she gripped his hair. "Took me way too long to figure that one out, huh," she admitted.
"It's cool. I'm glad you realised it now," Namjoon murmured, raising his head a little. "I've loved you for a very long time, y'know."
Nia grinned, her heart fizzing with joy as Namjoon's kisses trailed up her thigh, back to the place she wanted his mouth the most.
"I know," she said cheekily. "I don't blame you, to be honest. I'm a delight."
Namjoon tutted, but he was still smiling. "Don't push it, angel," he warned.
But Nia was feeling bold, especially when he called her angel. He only did that when she was acting anything but angelic. "Or what? What will you do, pookie?"
The resurgence of her old nickname for him made him freeze. Lust and determination returned to Namjoon's eyes, and he grinned wickedly at her.
"How about I show you," he promised, lowering his mouth onto her once more.
And as he demonstrated exactly what he was going to do, Nia nearly burst out of her skin with happiness; at having the man she'd always wanted back in her arms.
Or in this case - back between her legs.
Either way, she was never letting him go again.
