Chapter 16

19:48, 24 May 2019

I opened the door to my room and skipped to the kitchen, but stopped to see a bouquet of flowers on the dining table. A card was attached to it and I anxiously opened it.

Jane,

I know that this was super cheesy, but I just wanted you to know that I can’t wait for tonight. Wear something nice. I might of changed a few of our plans. See you soon!

-Jensen

I smiled, but that quickly faded because I only had the black dress packed. I quickly texted Maggie and told her that I needed help finding a nice outfit.

Jane: Jensen sent me flowers and told me to wear something nice. I DIDN’T PACK ANYTHING NICE! I need help ASAP!Maggie: Awwww! Meet me in the lobby in 5 minutes. Found a boutique with Viv earlier and I know we will find something VERY nice!Jane: You’re a lifesaver! See you soon!

I grabbed my purse and skipped to the elevator. They opened and I hopped out to the lobby.

“Hey girlie! Ready to shop?” Maggie asked.“Yeah, but we’re on a time crunch. Jensen is picking me up at 8.” I say.“Then let’s go! The boutique is only a few blocks away!” she said, grabbing your hand and dragging you out of the hotel.

Maggie opened the door to the cute boutique. Maggie was right! There was plenty of dresses for me to choose from.

“Good afternoon! How may I help you ladies?” one of the employees asked.“Hi!” My friend is going on a date tonight and we need to find the perfect dress!” Maggie says enthusiastically.“Well, you’ve come to the right place. Follow me.” the employee said.

After 30 minutes of shopping and trying on a million dresses, I successfully found the perfect outfit.

I came out of the dressing room wearing an off the shoulder burgundy dress with simple black heels. Maggie looked up from her magazine and squealed.

“Oh my gosh that’s perfect! Give me a spin!” she says.

I laugh and dramatically spin, which makes us erupt in laughter.“Well, it seems that you girls found the dress.” the employee said, entering the room.“Yes we did. We’ll be by the register in a few.” Maggie says and shoves you back to change.

You both walk out of the boutique and quickly return back to the hotel to get ready.

“Okay, you get dressed, put makeup on, and I’ll quickly do your hair. We have 30 minutes before Jensen comes.” Maggie says, sounding like a general in the army.“I’ll holler when I’m done. You can hang out in the living room.” you say, going into the bathroom.

Finishing up with 5 minutes to spare, Maggie and I sat anxiously in the living room.“What do you think he planned?” Maggie asked, breaking the awkward silence.“I don’t know. I hope I didn’t overdress.” I say, my hands getting sweaty.

Before Maggie could reassure you, knocking was heard at the door.

“Well, here goes nothing!” I say to Maggie as we both sit up.“Good luck, but I don’t think you need any.” Maggie said with a wink and chuckled.“Thank you Mag for helping me. What would I do without you?” you ask, giving her a hug.“Not go out with Jensen Ackles.” she says and you both laugh.

You both pull away and Maggie says, “Well, what are you waiting for?!”I hug Maggie one last time before I hesitantly walk to the door.

I feel my hands shake as I turn the handle and when I open the door, I freeze in place.

Jensen turns around wearing a nice simple suit. He smiles, which makes you smile back.

“Wow. Jane, you look amazing!” he says.

All I could do was blush. He smiled and we both gaze into each other’s eyes.“Are you ready, my lady?” he says with a bow, breaking off the gaze.I giggle and curtsy back. “Yes I am, good sir.”

He holds out his arm and I gladly take it. “Thank you for the flowers by the way. It was really sweet.” I say before the doors to the elevator open.“You are welcome.” he says and they open.

We walk out of the hotel and Jensen calls a cab. Once a cab arrived, he opened the door for me and got in.“Where are we going?” I ask.“It’s a surprise.” he answers, shutting the door.

I look out the window, seeing the many skyscrapers that cover New York. It was unbelievable! I still couldn’t believe that Maggie gave me this opportunity. I look back into the car to see Jensen staring at me. He quickly turned to look out the window, but it was too late.

“Caught you.” I teased. He chuckled and gave you his award winning smile.

I look back outside.“How do you feel about diners?” Jensen asked, drawing your attention back to him.“I love them! There’s one a block away from my new art building. They make the best milkshakes!” you say, making Jensen chuckle.“Well, good because that’s where we’re headed.” he says and I smile.

The cab driver parks in front of this 60s themed diner about 30 minutes away from the hotel. Jensen gets out, pays the driver, and then comes around my door to open it.

“What a gentleman.” I say as he grabs my hand to help me out.“Thank you. Call me old fashioned, but I like this kind of stuff.” he says.

I smile and he leads me into the diner.
