Chapter 9

07:39, 25 May 2019

The alarm on your phone goes off and you couldn't help but groan. You grabbed it, noticing the sun seeping through your curtains. You slowly got out of bed and trudged your way to the bathroom. Turning on the shower, you took your time getting ready.

It was 7:00 by the time you were done and you texted Maggie. Before you sent it, you remembered that she was very drunk last night and is more than likely hungover, so you went to her room to check up on her instead.

"Wake up sleepy head!" I yell when I shut her door.

"I don't wanna!" Maggie whines in the bathroom, possibly puking because of last night's decision.

"Come on. We have to get ready for the art show and I told you that mixing vodka with wine was a bad idea." I say, helping her up from the floor of the bathroom.

"Give me an hour." she whines again and lays on her bed.

"No, no, no." I say, pulling her up again. "We are supposed to be down in the conference room in 30 minutes, so move your ass!"

"Fine, but if I throw up you have to clean it!" Maggie says and slowly gets ready.

"I'll go get us some coffee." you say and leave her room to go down to the lobby.

You reach the lobby and you ask where the breakfast is being served to one of the secretaries at the front desk.

"It's down that hallway and once you see two french doors, you'll smell the coffee." she points down a wide hallway and at the end of it, there are two large doors.

"Thank you." you say and start heading towards the doors.

Just like the secretary said, the smell of coffee washed over you as you opened the door. You sigh and head towards the cute coffee area.

"What can I get for you miss?" the barista asked.

"I would like a caramel latte, a hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin please." you answer.

You weren't really much of a coffee person, but you knew that Maggie would appreciate her latte.

"That'll be $9.50. Would you like whipped cream with your hot chocolate?" he asks and you give him the money.

"Yes and could you put a little bit of cinnamon on it?" you ask, smiling at him.

"Of course. It'll just be a few minutes." he answers, smiling back.

You stand next to a high table, waiting for your order and you see Viv walk in. You smile and wave to her and she comes to you.

"Good morning Jane! You're up bright and early!" she says when she reaches you.

"Yeah. Maggie and I are going to set up the paintings in the conference room, so we needed to be up early."

"Well, I better get my cup of joe. I can't function without it." she chuckles and walks to the barista.

You follow her, grabbing your breakfast and as you reached the doors to leave, you hear Viv call your name.

"Jane! I need your help!"

You turn around and she almost ran into you.

"Woah, woah , woah." you say calmly. "What's the emergency?"

Viv catches her breath before she speaks. "We need help with the stage set up for Supernatural. The people who were supposed to do it are not here and we need this done in half an hour!"

"Okay. Let me deliver this to Maggie." you say, holding up her coffee and muffin.

"Thank you so much. You're a life-saver!" she hugs you.

Once you returned, Viv leads you to a large ballroom, right across from the conference room. She opens these gigantic doors and the first thing you see is the stage with Supernatural's logo hanging above it. She takes me backstage where I see a lot of decor, mostly horror themed.

"These attach to the backdrop, so that'll be easy." Viv says, holding up nets.

"Okay. Is there anything else?" you ask, taking the nets.

Viv face changes and you could tell she was holding something back.

"Well, there is one more thing you could do." she says hesitantly.

"What is it?" you ask, curious about what she is going to request.

"I know it takes time, but could you paint a backdrop for the stage?" she asks, silently praying that you'll say yes.

"You are right that it takes a lot of time, but I think I can manage. When do you want it?" you say and Viv jumps up and down.

"You are amazing! If you could have it done on the last day of the convention, that'll be great and it could just take up a little spot on the backdrop!" she says, joyfully and you couldn't help but laugh.

"You better hope I have as much free time as you scheduled for me." you chuckle and Viv comes up and hugs you.

You carefully wrap the nets around the backdrop, Viv helping with where to put them. You climbed down the ladder and you both sigh.

"Okay. Now go get ready for your art show!" Viv says once she let go.

"I will." you smile.

"Oh! I almost forgot!" Viv yells. "Take this." she hands you and extra piece of the backdrop.

"Thank you." you say and head across the hall.
