Chapter 5

20:12, 1 July 2018

An announcement was made, telling the New York flight was boarding now. It took a couple of nudges, but Maggie finally got your attention.

"Come on girl!" she said as you put your book in your backpack.

You both walked into the plane and tried to find your seats.

"Excuse me miss, could you help us find our seats?" you ask a flight attendant.

"Of course. Let me see your ticket." she says and takes your ticket, leading to your seats.

"Right by the window. The other two are for someone else." the attendant says.

"Thank you." you smile and let Maggie sit by the window.

"Are you sure?" "This is your first time on an airplane and the view is breathtaking." Maggie says.

"I'm positive. I'll either read or fall asleep, so you can have the breathtaking view." you answer.

"At least look out when we are taking off." she reassured you.

"Sure. Now let me finish this book." you said and smiled.

Before you were taking off, an announcement came from the pilot to tell you the basic rules on the plane like fastening your seatbelt and how to use the oxygen masks.

Maggie looked over at you and rolled her eyes. You couldn't help but laugh and everyone around you stared. You blushed and pushed Maggie on the shoulder.

"Great! Now everyone hates me." you teased Maggie.

"Ouch!" she said, pretending that the push hurt. "They'll get over it."

You looked back down at your book, getting entranced again. It wasn't until the pilot made another announcement, saying to "fasten your seatbelts" and "we are about to take off." An old couple took the other two seats next to you.

You looked up for a second and smiled at them.

"Are you Jane Edwards? The famous artist?" the old lady asked in excitement.

"Yes and thank you for that comment, but I'm not famous." you looked back up, feeling the red all over your cheeks.

"Oh sure you are. Can I have your autograph?" she asked and she held out a small notepad.

You smiled and said, "Of course. What is your name?"

"Oliva. Thanks so much!" she replied and gave you the biggest smile. "I'll leave you to your book now. Sorry for being too distracting."

"It's no problem. Thank you for making my day!" you said and returned to your book.

2 hours later

You finish your book just in time when the pilot announces that we are landing.

"Good timing." Maggie said as she stretched her back. "How was your book?" she asked.

"It was okay. Not my favorite. I'm glad I packed another." you answered after rubbing your eyes.

Maggie was about to tease you, but she was distracted by something, or should I say someone.

"Jane! Look! It's the hottie from the lounge at the airport!" she whispered yelled.

"Shh! There are people still sleeping!" you say and gesture to the couple sitting next to you.

"Sorry, but he's right there!" she pointed in excitement.

"Calm down. We need to get ready to go to the hotel." you say and grab your backpack.

"Fine." she sighed. "I'll call a cab." she says, taking her phone out.

You both walk out of the airport and wait for your cab.

"I hope it doesn't take too long." Maggie says, as she drops her luggage.

"Me too." you were about to say how eager you were, but you were stopped when a deep voice was heard.

"Excuse me, but I think you dropped your paintbrush!"

You turned around to see those green eyes again. He runs up to you and holds out the paintbrush. You gently take it, feeling his rough hand grace yours.

"Thank you." was all you said, as you took your backpack, noticing that the zipper was loose. You made sure that your backpack was closed and looked up at him.

"No problem." he smiled and your heart melted when you saw his dimples appear.

"Jane! Our cab is here!" Maggie yells and you start walking towards her, your gaze leaving the green eyes.

"Thank you again!" you say and turn around to see his eyes one last time, but before he could answer you, Maggie took your hand and lead you to the cab.
