Chapter 4

Packing was harder than you remembered. You had to remind yourself that the temperature was different in New York than Chicago during fall, so you mainly packed sweaters. You were almost done when you heard your phone buzz on your dresser.

You walked across your bedroom and picked up your phone.

On my way! Be ready in 10! Maggie texted you.

You smiled in excitement. You finished packing, making sure you had everything, and skipped to your door when you heard a faint knock.

"Hey pretty lady! Let's get going!" Maggie said once the door was opened.

"Let me gather my things." you laughed and got your suitcase and a backpack.

"What's that for?" Maggie asked, gesturing to your backpack.

"I thought that I should bring some art supplies just in case I got bored." you answered, shrugging your shoulders.

"Of course you would do that. Always making a masterpiece." Maggie teased.

"Whatever." you said as you entered the elevator.

Arriving at the airport

Maggie opened the door for you as you entered the airport.

"Thank you." you said, holding Maggie's and your luggage.

"Here. I got it now." she said with a chuckle.

"Thank goodness because I was about to drop everything." you laughed.

You and Maggie made it through security smoothly, with the exception of your backpack full of art supplies and walked over to a screen that read all of the flights. You found New York right away and you couldn't help but jump excitedly.

"It looks like we have 30 minutes to spare! Want a snack before we leave?" Maggie asks.

"That'll be great. Thanks." you say.

"Anything in particular?" she asks before she leaves you in the lounge area.

"Something light. Thanks again!" you answer and she leaves to get food.

You watch as Maggie leaves and then you find a chair to sit and relax. You pull out a book and start reading, getting lost in the story. You enjoy reading. Other than art, it was one of your favorite things to do.

Not noticing that Maggie was coming up behind you, she grabs your shoulders and says "Get your nose out of the book!" You jumped like five feet in the air.

"Jesus Christ Maggie! You know that you can't do that while I'm reading!" you yell at her between laughs.

"Sorry. I just couldn't help it and I needed to tell you that there is a really attractive guy checking you out." she said, her laughter calming down.

"What? You're joking." you said, looking around.

"He is right over there with another good-looking guy. How could you not notice him?" Maggie said, stealthy pointing to where he was sitting.

You followed the direction her finger was pointing to and as you look up, a pair of beautiful green eyes meet yours, but they quickly look another direction. You blushed and you didn't notice that you held your breath until Maggie interrupts.

"What did I tell you and now he's totally embarrassed that you caught him." she giggled.

"Shut up." you rolled your eyes and asked, "Did you get me something?"

"Here's some water and a granola bar." she says and hands you the items.

"Thanks. How much time do we have left?" you asked, opening your book.

"About five. I'm going to be over here if you need me." she answers and takes a seat at another table, letting you have the five minutes to finish a chapter.
