Dear Billy, Part 2

14:51, 27 July 2022

3rd Person's POV

On the car ride to Rick's, Dustin and Robin had fallen asleep on eachother. Valerie couldn't blame them, it had been a long day and it was getting quite late.

She smiled at the image before she got off the car, waving goodbye to the people who still managed to stay awake.

Steve drove away, and once again Valerie was left alone with Eddie Munson.

Eddie was about to head towards the shed when Valerie stopped him in his tracks, "You cannot pay me to sleep in that boat again, my back still hasn't healed."

"You wanna sleep in the house?"

"Mmhm."

"Fine with me." He shrugs, "But if Jason or any of his guys come for me, do you promise to protect me?"

"Don't worry, you're only mine to kill." Valerie, after some struggling, opened the door to Rick's house, "After you."

"You treat me so well, Henderson." Eddie puts a hand over his heart.

"Try not to cream your pants." Valerie enters after him and closes the door.

"No promises." Eddie shuffles through the shelves and cupboards.

Valerie flicks the light switch on and takes a look around the house, "Not bad for a drug dealer."

"Care for dinner?" Eddie asked, still checking out all the shit Rick had.

"Actually I'd rather just sleep, I'm pretty tired."

Valerie walked into Rick's pitch black bedroom. She turned on the lights, took one look at the bed and suddenly couldn't wait to bury herself under the covers. It had been too damn long.

She took her jacket off, the jacket she'd been wearing for two days now. She would definitely take a shower in the morning.

Her hands were itching to take her jeans off too, but as much as a nightmare it was sleeping with jeans on she wasn't about to sleep in her panties. Not with him in the room.

She could hear footsteps enter after her and so she turned around. Her breath however hitched in her throat because why the fuck was Eddie Munson shirtless?

Usually he had an annoying way with his words, a way to render her speechless. But he wasn't speaking right now so why couldn't she either?

Why were her lips parted and why was she staring at his pale skin. The skin that was littered with those sweet old tats he had shown her a peak of earlier.

"I'm surprised you're not making a fuss about sleeping in the same bed." Eddie chuckled.

"It's not like we haven't slept together before." She slipped into bed, averting her eyes away from him. Her cheeks were burning, she could feel it now that she wasn't distracted anymore.

But why.

She only prayed to God no one would ever read her thoughts because this was just embarrassing.

Eddie turned the light off and slid in next to her. She pulled the blanket on top of her and laid down with her back facing him.

It was completely dark again which was just great. Her eyes were open, but she could barely see shit which was freaking her out.

"Goodnight Valerie."

Valerie could tell he was smiling by the way he said her name, "Night, Munson."

After that it was silent. She closed her eyes, she was tired. She could fall asleep. No big deal.

How long had it been? Five minutes? Ten minutes?

She turned, now facing Eddie but didn't open her eyes. She turned again. Then again.

She stuck one of her legs out of the blanket, maybe that would work.

When it didn't she tried sleeping on her stomach.

She could hear him breathe, she could feel the warmth radiating off his body. The silence was getting on her nerves, why wasn't Eddie annoying her like he usually did?

She was just about to turn again when Eddie abruptly turned towards her, "Jesus woman, I thought you said you were tired?"

She usually slept in her room with a nightlight on. There wasn't one here, and she certainly wasn't going to ask him to sleep with the lights on.

"I, uh, was. I don't know why I can't fall asleep." She sat up, "I have this weird heavy feeling on my chest."

It wasn't weird. It was rather familiar. She felt it way too often for her liking.

She could faintly see Eddie sitting up as well, "I think I have a way of calming your nerves."

"How?"

"We're in a drug dealer's house Valerie." He got up and out of the room before she could say a word.

He returned only minutes after.

"I'm not doing drugs."

"I know you're not." Eddie walks over to the window and pulls the curtain away.

The moonlight cast a shadow over Eddie as he turned to look at Valerie. It illuminated the whole room in fact.

Eddie sat down in front of her, a joint and lighter in hand, "Just some weed, don't worry I won't give you more than you can handle."

"I've never smoked before." Valerie couldn't believe she was actually considering it.

"You nervous?"

"Anxious."

"Don't be." He gave her a small smile before lighting the joint up and taking a drag of it himself.

This time he took the joint and held it against Valerie's lips. Valerie was too focused on the way the cold metal of his rings felt on her lips, and in turn took in way too much way too fast.

She started coughing and he started cracking up, "Easy, Henderson."

He brought it to his own mouth and took another drag, as gracefully as ever.

Eddie holds it for Valerie to take another puff, this time she does it slower. The warm smoke hits the back of her throat, and it actually felt nice.

They went back and forth, sharing the joint between them. Valerie could feel herself get more relaxed by the second.

She leaned in to take another puff but Eddie actually pulled it away from her, a toothy grin made its way onto his face, "You called me Eddie."

"What? When?" Valerie frowned.

"At Hawkins High."

"What?"

"When Max was in a trance you got all scared and grabbed the sleeve of my t-shirt-"

"Okay but that doesn't count because I thought Max was dying, just give me the joint."

Valerie tried to steal it, but Eddie got off the bed with Valerie after him. Eddie stood with his right arm raised as high as it would go, the joint dangling in his fingers. She tried to reach it, standing on her tippy toes.

"Let's make it count then, you little midget." He stared down at her, "Say it, say my name."

"I'm not saying your name you freak."

"Then you can kiss your weed goodbye."

They stared at eachother for a good 10 seconds before Valerie felt her shoulders droop down in defeat, "Give me my damn weed, Eddie."

His smile deepened, "Say please?"

Valerie raised an eyebrow at him.

He shook his head and let out a laugh, "It was worth a try."

Valerie finally took it from his hand and plopped down on the bed, Eddie did too beside her.

"Okay that's enough now," Eddie pulled it away from a reluctant Valerie after a little while, "How will I ever face Dustin if I turn you into a drug addict?"

"I... am not." Her words came out slurred.

"Yeah not yet you aren't." Eddie pulled the blanket over her to tuck her in, and then did the same for himself.

Valerie was high for the first time in her life, she had the moonlight, and Eddie Munson slowly breathing next to her. It was oddly comforting. She could sleep now.

Eddie mumbled a quick goodnight, but could tell she was passed out already.

Now that the night had come to an end, and he didn't have to play it cool in front of Valerie anymore, he could acknowledge just how ridiculously his heart had been beating a couple minutes earlier.

In fact it picked up a similar pace again, if he thought about her. And how his fingers felt pressed against her lips

Her lips were warm, her lips were soft, but most importantly they were hers.

[A/N: Don't do drugs kids. Unless you're being terrorised by a monster from another dimension, in which case just go ahead.]
