Chapter 3: For me?

The summer days in school are action-filled for sure, it's action-packed.

People are competing in sports, eating ice creams, going to festivals and just having fun in life...

For me, it seems I've been doing all of that except the festivals and fun part. I looked to over my right and saw Kono-san paying her full attention to the teacher as she....wait what lecture is this again?

"Tanji stop gawking at the wall and pay attention to the board" spoke the teacher.

"Oh, I'm sorry" I replied getting a bit embarrassed.

I felt like she's looking at me...I looked towards Kono-san again and my doubt was confirmed.

As our eyes met she chuckled and faced the board again.

"Hey Tanji" I heard Sengoku's voice.

"Yeah?" I looked over to my left as the school council president was looking at me.

"Meet me at terrace in lunch" he said.

"What are you gonna confess to me!?" I replied.

"You Baka....just do as I say" he sighed.

"Ok...ok" I chuckled.

[Time skip]

"T-Tanji-kun" I heard Kono-san's voice as I just stood up my desk and was about to head for the terrace.

"Yeah?" I asked turning towards her.

"Are you going somewhere?" she incquired.

It feels as if she's nervous about something...what's this strange tension I feel?

"Oh, nothing just to the terrace. Do you need some help?" I asked.

"I...I-uh...come with me" she said as she started walking out of the class.

I followed her as soon enough we found ourselves near the council room again.

"Is everything alright?" I asked again.

"I...I don't know h-how to hand him th-this cookies" she finally let it out with anxiously.

"What's the issue in that?" I said as I swayed my head a bit.

"It's just....I don't know how to initiate a conversation like this.....I, I haven't given anyone cookies before..." she added.

"Ok take a deep breath" I said in attempt to calm her down.

"Bu-" she replied before I cut her off.

"No no, Kono-san. Listen to me, take a deep breath" I said.

"Okay..." she agreed as she took a deep breath.

"Now, Imagine I'm Ishikawa and try to hand me the cookies and the uniform" I replied.

"Eh?!" she got embarrassed a bit

"Yeah, imagine I'm Ishikawa, and try to hand me the stuff" I added.

"It's...kinda embarrassing...." she replied.

"It'll only help you with him you know...." I replied smiling.

"I...I'll try" she replied.

"Okay, Oh hey! Kono-san!" I mimiced Ishikawa, at least tried to do so.

"I-Is....Ishikawa-san. HERE!!!!" she slammed the jacket and the cookies on my face.

As I took the hit I was pushed back a bit by the impact on my face but luckily I maintained my balance and didn't fall.

"Oh my god, Tanji-kun I'm so sorry!!!" she exclaimed.

"It's fine...let's try it again okay?" I reassured her.

"Okay..." she nodded.

"Oh hello! Kono-san!" I said.

"I-Ishikawa kun" she started.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"I...I-I made too many cookies, so, uh..."

*Heartbeat Increases*

"Oh, cookies! for me? thanks a lot, Kono-san!!" I said taking the cookies from her.

"Also...he-here's the Uniform that you lent me... yesterday!" she tried her best to continue.

"Oh, thank you! and again I'm sorry for that accident...." I replied.

"No-no...It was my fault aswell" she replied.

"There, you can do it!" I said coming back in my own character.

"T-Thank you...I guess, I'm ready" she mustered up some confidence.

"You can do it" I said calmly reassuring her as I handed her the uniform and Cookies back.

"Thank you...again Tanji-kun" she replied.

"No problem...see ya later" I said as I started walking towards the terrace.

What am I doing.....god? are you even there? are you witnessing this? is this just some entertainment to you? 

I'm just...helping someone I love get away from me....

Guess I really am a retard.....

With that one final thought, I opened up the door of the terrace as I saw Sengoku standing here at the fence looking over to the ground.

"Before you confess to me, I am already gonna say that I'm in love with someone and I can't accept your feelings" I joked as I walked towards him.

"Sometimes I wish I was strong enough" he started.

"Uhm, why?" he replied.

"So I can beat the shit out of you" she replied.

"Oh you can try buddy, Haha" I chuckled as the atmosphere went silence.

"So, anyway. Why did you call me here?" I asked.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked curiously.

"Why are you helping Kono-san?" he added.

There was suddenly this accumulation of saliva in my mouth that I gulped down....

"What do you mean?" I smiled.

"There you go, smiling again like everything's fine" he replied.

"Well It is" I replied.

He put a hand on my shoulder like dominance as he coldly said, "Aren't you the one in love with her?" 

The question sent chills down my spine and a bit of panic in my mind.

"Me-uh lo-love?! No-what talking about are you?" I said whatever my mind could articulate.

"And you're fumbling again, We four, have been in student council for so long. I know each and every member inside out, do you think I can't read you out?" he replied taking his hand off me.

"I...I don't love her seriously, Sengoku you're mistaken" I said letting out a quiet smile.

"Keep lying to yourself and you're gonna loose her" he replied.

"Bu-" I wanted to reply.

"Listen, my advice to you would just get her fall for you instead of that Ishikawa who doesn't even care about her" he added.

"She is gonna go away from you if you don't act up, This is the last year and once we graduate, you'll lose her permanently" he added.

"Are you okay with that you dumb cunt?" he added again.

"AND WHAT DO YOU THINK I CAN DO?!" I almost screamed in anger.

"WHAT CAN YOU DO!? YOU GET HER, THAT'S WHAT YOU DO" he replied.

"GET HER?! It's not that easy. I don't know how it went for Remi and you BUT IT'S NOT EASY SENGOKU. IT'S NOT" I replied.

"You won't know unless you don't try" he added as he started walking back.

"So you just called me here to tell me this?" I asked as I looked at him who was going back towards the shut door of the terrace.

"More or less, do what you want. Although, I'm gonna say this" he said opening the door

I paid all my attention to the words that were about to come off his mouth now, "There's no one who will treat her better than you. I've seen you two for a long time" he said going out and closing the door behind him.

What's wrong with this cunt....Why did he have to notice this, It doesn't matter what I feel....I value her more than my own desires and feelings.

[Time Skip]

I was walking back to the council room as I happened to see Kono-san giving Ishikawa his uniform back along with the cookies.

I was at a distance so I couldn't hear what she said but looking at her reaction from here...It probably went well. 

She looks so cute when she's flustered, haha.

There's probably a smile on my face right now...well, let's just head back to the council room.

I slid open the door as I felt Remi and Sengoku eyeing me.

"What's wrong now?" I asked in an unamused tone.

"Nothing really" both replied at the same time.

"Is there any work for me today? If not, can I...just head back home" I requested.

"Well, there's no work for us today, now that I look at it. So yeah, you can head back home but so early?" he asked.

"I just....don't feel that good" I replied.

"HUH?! Tanji-kun you don't have a fever do you!?" Remi almost teleporting in front of me with a thermometer.

"I'm fine, just a bit down" I smiled as I used my hands to reject the idea of the thermometer.

"Oh-okay" she replied.

"Alright, then. I'll go home" I said putting my shoulder bag on my right shoulder as I started making my way to the locker downstairs.

Why am I feeling so dull....

I took my shoes out as I removed my indoor ones and put them back in and started wearing my outdoor ones.

"Tanji-kun!" I heard a rather confident voice of...Kono-san?

I turned around and saw her standing there with a bit of concern on her face.

"Oh hey, what's up? how did it go with Ishikawa" I said putting my shoes on.

"It went fine....THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE BUT. HERE!" she offered me a packet of cookies too. This one was tied with a light ribbon instead of a red one...

"Uhm, did you not give him the cookies?" I asked.

"These are for you! I...made them as a to-token for your help...." she replied.

Please Kono-san....no more.

Why do I feel so....dead? in my mind. It feels like I...I might shed out a tear or two.

I gently took the packet from her, "Thank you, I'll text you on how they tasted...I'm in a bit of hurry" I replied.

"Mhm, sure. Also is everything alright?" she asked with concern on her face.

As I put the cookies in my bag, "Yeah Yeah! don't worry about it....See ya" I replied waving her goodbye.

"Bye" she replied with a warm smile and a sly hand wave as if she was embarrassed doing that...

She's just...too cute.

[Time Skip]

"What's that? A Valentine cookie?" My elder sister teased me.

"I wish it was...." I absent-mindedly replied.

"Ohhhhhhhhhhh" she teased me further.

"I mean...uh.....It's from a friend. She just baked too many cookies and passed us all some" I replied.

"Now that's sad...I thought they were only for you" she replied.

I wish it was......

"Also, you've been staring at them for half n hour now, are you gonna eat them or not?" she asked.

"I'll do...also why are you in my room?" I asked.

"Because mom told me to look up on you, you looked down" she replied.

"I'm fine, just tired from the council work" I managed to reply.

"I see...so you're in love with this certain someone who gave you these cookies" she replied.

"Exac- WAIT, did you even hear what i said?" I replied.

"You think you can fool your onee-san? Anyways, it seems you don't wanna talk about it...let me tell you something. Listen to what your heart says... brain is the devil. Heart is the god. In situation like these, you need to go with your real feelings, only then you'll feel at peace" she calmly replied standing near the door and going out after finishing this pep talk....

I just put the headphones back on queuing some songs as I opened up the packet of the cookie gently and carefully.

I took one evenly baked cookie out as I took a bite out of it...

It felt like it just melted as soon as I ate it. It was sweet, like her personality. Soft yet crunchy at times....

I took my phone out as I composed a message.

[To- Kono-san]The cookies were delicious, thanks for these!

[Save as draft]       [Send]

I just tapped send as I put my phone away turning the lights off and just drifted into sleep with light relaxing music going on in my headphones.

I've been busy with some stuff in life and hence the updates are a bit slow to my books now a days.

I have not abandoned none of my reader x characters. Ill work on them when i get time.

For now i really wanted to work on this one, and it seems people do wanna read for Sakura Kono aswell....let's see where this takes us.
