Chapter 13 – I won’t, I promise
Katie’s POVI snapped my head back to the TV and watched the film, just to let Harry think that he had ‘won’.
“Love that film.” I announced as the credits rolled up on the screen. “It’s so sad how they die but then so cute with the baby and everything…aww it’s just too cute.” I babbled, getting a little bit lost in my love for Life as We Know It.
“You’re such a girl Katie.” Harry chuckled.
“Well, yeah I am a girl. It would be weird if you said I was such a boy.” I commented, quickly swiping the smug look off Harry’s face. I unfolded myself from the sofa and went off in the direction of the kitchen to get food. I swear, I eat so much sometimes.
“Where are you going?” Louis asked, tipping his head back so he could see me, but upside down.
“Food.” I replied, like it was the most obvious thing ever.
“That sounds like an excellent plan.” Niall agreed, jumping up and racing me to the fridge. He swung the door open, the bright light illuminating the food packed on the glass shelves. I reached for the last can of coke and chocolate bar but Niall soon snatched them away, swinging the door closed.
“Louis!” I yelled, chucking my head back like a small child. “Niall took the last coke and chocolate!” Niall poked his tongue out at me.
“It’s fine Katie.” Louis said, smiling slightly before opening the fridge and throwing me a carrot. “You eat too much crap anyways.”
“WHAT?!” I exclaimed, throwing the carrot to the ground. “I eat too much crap. Have you seen what I eat? It’s like a bloody vegetable patch compared to what you eat.”
“Katie.” Louis scolded my language, I assume. I rolled my eyes.
“Sorry for swearing.” I mumbled.
“I’m more bothered by that fact that you threw a perfectly good carrot on the floor!”
“Sorry for throwing a carrot on the floor…?” I said, well kind of asked because it sounded weird, apologising for throwing vegetables.
“Good girl.” He smiled, reaching into the highest cupboard and handing me a can of coke.
“Secret stash?! You’ve got a secret stash of coke and you didn’t tell me?” I asked, snapping open the can and taking a sip of the fizzy brown liquid.
“It’s not secret. Harry knows it’s there. And you do now, it just so happens that some people are a little too short.” He smirked, emphasising ‘some people’ and nodding his head towards me.
“Meh.” I said shrugging. “What are we doing tonight?” I asked, glancing at the clock which read 6:15pm.
“Err, dunno. I think we’ll just stay in though, I’m kinda tried after I stayed up most of last night waiting for you to come home.” He replied, leaning back on the worktop.
“Boring.” I muttered, wandering off to my room.
I picked up my phone and unlocked it, dialling Luke’s number, he’ll have something interesting planned for tonight while he’s in London I’m sure.
“Hey Luke.” I spoke into the phone, placing my half empty can of coke on my desk.
“Hi Katie. How’s life with the brother?”
“Err, well not the best. I was wondering if you were free to do something tonight?”
“Sorry for you babe. Yeah of course. There’s a party at the house next door which you can come along to if you like. Zara told me about the argument and I sent her home, so don’t worry about that.”
“Sweet. Shall we meet at your’s?” I asked, feeling rather pleased that I was finally going to be able to get out for a bit.
“Sounds like a plan. See you in about an hour?”
“Yeah okay. See you soon. Bye.” I said into my phone.
“Yep, bye sweetie.” I hung up and placed my phone next to my coke. I redid my make-up, adding some eye shadow to my lids for a smoky look. I slipped into a tight, short hot pink dress that ended three quarters of the way down my thigh and was strapless. I put on my favourite black heels and some silver jewellery. I spritzed on some perfume, left my hair as it was and grabbed my phone before heading out to leave.
“Where are you going?” Harry asked.
“Out. I’ll be back later.” I told him.
“Louis! Katie’s going out.” He yelled.
“Gee, thanks Harry.” I commented sarcastically, rolling my eyes dramatically.
“Katie where are you going?” Louis asked, folding his arms over his chest.
“Out with Luke.” I said in a monotone.
“I thought we agreed no more parties.”
“It’s not even a big party and I won’t drink or smoke.” I pleaded. “Please? Can I just go out for just one night with my best friend?” He looked doubtful, like he didn’t trust me. Like he didn’t believe that I wouldn’t touch any drink.
“Fine,” He sighed.
“Yes! Thank you.” I grinned hugging him tightly.
“But,” Louis began, stepping out of the family hug. “Your dress is way too short. Go and change into something else.”
“Louis, she looks amazing.” Zayn decided, standing slightly behind Lou. “Let her go out and have a good time. But, Katie, if you get drunk or even think about smoking we’ll come down on you like a ton for bricks.” He added, directing the last bit at me.
“Be back by 11.” Louis smiled at me after some considerable amount of consideration.
“Thanks Lou!” I kissed him on the check before leaving.
“Have a nice time.”
I won’t drink. I won’t smoke. I will have a good time, stay sober and get home for 11pm on the dot. I can’t let him down or he will never trust me ever again.
*
The party was going great so far. I was having an amazing time and not once had I consumed a drop of alcohol.
“Hey cutie.” Some random guy smiled seductively at me. Now he was hot. His tanned skin and rippling muscles visible through his t-shirt. His chocolaty brown eyes and dirty blonde hair that clearly had taken quite a while to get looking dishevelled but it looked like he had just rolled out of bed.
“Hey hottie.” I grinned back. Where did all of that confidence suddenly come from? Normally I would never do that unless I was drunk, but then I would make a fool out of myself. “I’m Katie.”
“Ethan.” He winked. “Wanna dance?” he held his hand out to me which I took gratefully. He led me to the ‘dance floor’, which was just someone’s front room with all of the furniture pushed back and out of the way. Ethan held me close to him as our bodies moved in time with the music blaring out of the giant speakers. “You look amazing Katie.” He complimented me as we made our way to the drinks. “Vodka?” He offered.
“Just a coke thanks.” I smiled; reaching out for the cold metallic can instead.
“Staying sober are we?” Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow. “Luke said you’re the girl for getting drunk.
“Yeah well, I just want my brother to trust me again and the only way that’s ever going to happen is if I stop with the getting drunk so I promised that I wouldn’t” I blushed slightly when I realised how goody goody two shoes that sounds.
“I’m pleased.” Ethan smiled sincerely. “I get to know the real you, not the drunk girl.”
“Thanks. I’m pleased that I’m sober enough to talk to you.” I flashed a toothy grin back. “Ethan, I have to go. Promised that I would be back at 11.” I added apologetically, glancing at the clock on my phone.
“No problem, I’ll walk you home.”
We chatted about little bits of everything as we sat on the tube and then walked back to the front door to the boys’ complex.
“Well, this is my brother.” I said, pointing to the door.
“Your brother lives here?” Eth asked, his mouth dropping at the size of the place.
“Yeah, him and his band mates.” I nodded.
“Band mates?”
“Yeah, my brother is Louis Tomlinson from One Direction.” I smiled.
“Wow.” He chuckled.
“Ethan, I’ve had a great night but two minutes to, I’d better dash.”
“Sure, can I get your number?” I smiled widely and gave it to him, kissing him on the cheek. “I’ll text you later.” He promised, kissing my cheek back.
I took my heels off and ran up the stairs reaching Louis’ flat at exactly 11pm.
“Hey, I’m back.” I said, walking in to a very surprised Louis and Harry.
“Wow, I didn’t think you would stick to it.” Lou admitted.
“I promised didn’t I?” I replied, leaning against him as I yawned.
“Well, no you didn’t actually.” I poked my tongue out at him.
“Minor detail Louis, minor detail.” I laughed as he side hugged me.
So what do you think? Hope you like it.
