*four years later*

Shenae- *grabs Diggy’s hand* C’mon daddy! Let’s go!!

Diggy- *laughs* Alright, I’m coming.. *runs to the sea with her*

Y/N- *smiles* Be careful!

Kumi- *looks at you* You’re gonna have to tell him Y/N.

Y/N- *sighs* *watches Diggy and Shenae play in the sea* Kums, it’s not easy.

Kumi- I know.. but who are you gonna be easy on? Him or yourself? He’s gonna find out one way or another

Y/N- *puts hand over her face* I don’t wanna worry about it

Kumi- *holds you tight* I’m here for you.. remember, we’re friends. I’ll always be here for you

Y/N- *shakes head and closes her eyes* I’m just scared of what would happen

Kumi- *hugs you tighter*

Y/N- *lets go of her and breathes* I can’t imagine telling him

Kumi- It’s gonna kill him to know

Y/N- *looks at her* I don’t wanna lose him

Kumi- *holds your hand* You won’t. Trust me.

Diggy- *runs back to you with Shenae* This one got all scared that the sea would bite her

Y/N- Aww baby *hugs her*

Shenae- I’m sure I saw a jellyfish mommy..

Y/N- Did you?

Shenae- *nods*

Diggy- I’m sure she didn’t… you okay?

Y/N- *smiles a little* I’m good..

Diggy- Should we head back?

Y/N- Yeah we should *gets off the sand*

We gathered our things, threw them in the back of my truck and drove down to Kendall’s beach house. It was beautiful and something she’d always dreamed of owning.. and it was summery, breezy and perfect to bring loads of family and friends around

Kendall- Finally, you’re back! This food was getting cold..

Diggy- *to Shenae* I told you she’d make you something to eat.

Kendall- I’ll get you a plate Shay, go and watch cartoons

Shenae- *runs to the couch*

Diggy- *leans on the counter*

Y/N- *stands between his legs* *kisses his head*

Diggy- *smiles* What was that for?

Y/N- For being a great dad and husband, what else?

Diggy- *kisses you back* I love you

Y/N- *rolls eyes at her*

Kendall- How was the beach?

Y/N- It was good actually. The weather is so perfect in Malibu

Kendall- Told you *serves food on plates*

Diggy- It was good till Shenae was being a little scaredy cat

Shenae- *looks over* Was not!!

Diggy- *laughs*

Kendall- *takes food to Shenae*

Diggy- *looks at you and holds your waist* I really wanna go to Vegas tonight before we leave

Y/N- *raises eyebrow* Tonight?

Diggy- *nods* I just feel like it

Y/N- We can’t just pack up and leave just like that..

Diggy- We have the money and can buy tickets in seconds.

Y/N- And what about Shay?

Kendall- *walks back over* Whatever you guys are doing, I’ll take care of Shay and Kums too if she’s not busy

Kumi- *shrugs* Of course

Y/N- *looks at Diggy*

Diggy- *pouts* Pretty please?

Y/N- *sits at the blackjack table*

Diggy- *laughs* Oh you think you’re good at this huh?

Y/N- I know I am.

Diggy- You obviously haven’t seen me play.. *sits beside you*

I made all my bets, placed my chips down and so did Y/N and we played. Just the two of us. I made these glances over at her and she was smirking from the corner of her mouth, so mischieviously.

She’d hit, stand, split and double and I just watched as she gathered so much confidence… I was slyly nervous cause my hand was shit.

Y/N- *glances at him* You sweatin over there chief?

Diggy- *looks over at you* *shakes his head* Nah, not at all

Y/N- Your ego is getting in the way of telling the truth… I’m boutta thrash you at this game

Diggy- Pshh, you’re bluffing.

*dealer takes another hit*

Y/N- *looks at Diggy* You in or not?

Diggy- *stares at his cards*

Y/N- *smirks* Diggy?

Y/N- *laughs* *looks at the dealer*

Y/N- Yes!! All these chips are mine bitches!

Y/N- I am so gonna cash these… *picks them all up*

Diggy- *walks in the hotel room with you* I swear to God, you cheated

Y/N- I didn’t! It was a fair and honest game, I won rightfully and you’re just jealous I won $4’000 and you lost $1000.

Diggy- Yeah, sure *feels your waist and hips*

Y/N- *looks up at him*

Diggy- Babe?

Y/N- *looks at him* Yeah?

Diggy- You’ve been extra-affectionate lately.. you okay? You got somethin to tell me?

Y/N- It’s in the study.

Diggy- *walks to the study* *sorts through the papers* *sees an appointment letter*

Y/N- *plays with Shenae’s fingers*

Diggy- Yeah, yeah.. and I found this. *holds up the letter* Why do you have an appointment with the hospital next week?

Y/N- It’s nothing.

Diggy- You serious?

Y/N- Yeah.. *takes the letter* Just leave it, okay?

*a few days later*

Diggy- *comes home* Y/N?

Y/N- I’m upstairs!

Diggy- Okay.. *walks to the stairs*

*phone rings*

Diggy- *sighs* *walks to the phone and answers it* Hello?

Nurse- Hi, I’m calling on behalf of the New York State Department of Health, is Y/N Simmons present?

Diggy- *scratches head* No, but this is her husband..

Nurse- Okay, well can you inform her that this is a reminder of her Oncology appointment on the 26th..

Diggy- Okay… Sorry but, oncology? What is that?

Nurse- It’s the study of cancer. She’ll be seeing an Oncologist, doctor Davis.

Diggy- *pauses* Wow, um, okay… *holds his hand over his face*

Nurse- Thank you for your cooperation, is there anything else I can help with?

Diggy- No, no thank you, bye… *hangs up and wipes his face*

Y/N- *walks downstairs* Babe, who was that?

Diggy- *turns around* I think you have something to tell me.

Y/N- *confused* What?

Diggy- *takes a long pause*

Y/N- Diggy talk to me, please, what is it?

Diggy- Guess who that was on the phone

Y/N- *shrugs* Kendall? My mom?

Diggy- *tear falls* It was the hospital.

Y/N- *face drops* What did they say?

Diggy- You tell me.

Y/N- Daniel..

Diggy- How could you not tell me!? I have to hear from a stranger on the phone that you have cancer, not even from you!

Y/N- I’m sorry!

Diggy- It’s fuckin selfish Y/N. So damn selfish. I shoulda been the first person you told!

Y/N- How the fuck am I meant to break that to you? Do you know how long I’ve spent trying to live normally and not think about it and Kumiko and my mom have been on my case, begging me to tell you.. I didn’t want to!

Diggy- Why not?!

Y/N- *cries* Because I didn’t want things to change!! Everything that’s happened in the last two months was so fucking amazing and if I told you, I didn’t wanna be treated differently. I wanted you me, Shenae, us. To be normal, for everything to be perfect, I just wanted that.. how the fuck else am I meant to say “hey Diggy, my perfect husband, guess what… I have cancer!”

Diggy- *wipes his eyes*

Y/N- Okay, there I said it! I have cancer and I’m scared! I was scared of telling you, scared of thinking about it and the future and if we’d have a future, if I’d even make it to tomorrow and seeing you.. or Shenae, Kumi, Kendall, my brother and sister, my parents and everyone else. What my last words would be like and all these memories. What everything would be like.. I was just scared Diggy and I’m sorry! *cries*

Diggy- *hugs you tight* *tears fall fast*

Y/N- *sobs* I was just so scared…
