Chapter Eleven- Waffles

00:50, 1 October 2012

Niall's POV

I watch her peacefully sleep with her light, golden brown hair all sprawled out across my lap. Looking up at the clock I see it's 7:19 in the morning. I don't have to be at the recording studio until 10am so I have a while left where I can just stare at her sleeping before I have to wake her up. Unless she wakes up on her own before I have to go, but I don't know how well she's adjusted with the time zone difference. I know I have trouble with all the time zone changes when we go on tour in America and Australia.

I observe her breathing patterns just taking in all her beauty. Even though she's sleeping she still looks fucking gorgeous. I smile like a idiot just watching her sleep. Hopefully she doesn't wake up to me just smiling at her. I don't want her thinking I'm a creeper.

The minutes fly by as I just watch Kayla. How peaceful she looks just laying here. I run my hand through her hair a few times unable to resist from playing with it. I brush the fly aways away from her eyes and her eyelashes begin to flutter open. Her lids slowly slide open exposing her amber brown eyes.

"Good morning," she says rubbing her eyes before smiling up at me.

"Morning, we both must have fallen asleep during the end of the movie," I respond back smiling at how cute she looks in the morning.

"Yeah, you playing with my hair put me right asleep," she sleepily replies.

"I hope the couch was comfortable enough for you," I say wondering if she had a rough nights sleep for it.

"Actually I slept the best I have ever since being here in London. You make a really good pillow," she says smirking.

"Well you look really cute while sleeping," I say running my fingers through my hair which I've noticed whenever I do that she instantly smiles.

"I bet your even more adorable while sleeping," she says smiling back readjusting the blanket that's almost fallen off her and onto the floor.

"You hungry babe?" I ask wondering if I should make her breakfast.

"I'll eat if your wanting to eat something," she says after a long early morning yawn.

"Do you like waffles?" I ask thinking of all the different breakfast foods I'm capable of making hoping she likes one of them.

"Love them," she smirks, her eyes still looking like she could fall right back asleep.

"Waffles it is!" I say as she sits up pulling her head off my lap. I feel the mourning air of my apartment having to take my blanket off of me as I stand up. She stands up too following me to the kitchen to help me make the waffles.

I can tell she's trying to fix her hair and straighten out her pants and I say, "You look beautiful," reassuring her that she doesn't need to fix anything.

She looks up from her sweatpants and smiles, "Thanks, you are just so freaking sweet."

I go through my cabinets pulling out the batter mix. Then I go on a search for my waffle maker that is buried in my lower cabinets. I find it and pull it out setting it on top of the island in the middle of my kitchen. "I have never used this before. I got it as a Christmas gift and have never gotten a chance to figure it out. So if I fail at this do not blame me," I say explaining why I will have difficulties with this machine. I already know i'm not going to know what I'm doing so I'm not even going to try and act like I do.

"Well i've made waffles with the hotel waffle makers before. I almost burnt down the hotel but I figured it out, so it can't be that hard," she say and I laugh before plugging the waffle maker into one of the outlets on the side of the island.

"We can figure it out together. We are both smart people, we should be able to work this machine, right?" I ask opening the waffle maker up examining it.

"Right!" Kayla declare sliding the box of batter over by me opening up the fresh box.

I go into the cabinet reaching for a bowl to make the waffle mix in. I set the bowl in front of her so she can start making the mix. I get out a few other things I'm going to need before helping Kayla make the mix. It's a pretty simple mix to make since it's a 'just add water' kind of thing but we still work together to stir up the batter.

I pour a cup of the batter in to the white waffle maker while Kayla puts the box of left ofter batter mix back from where I grabbed it from. After a few minutes of brain power we figure out how to get the waffle maker working properly and start making the first of our waffles. Once the waffles are done we pull them out of the tray and onto a huge plate we have set out to put our fresh waffles on to. We soon become pros at it popping the waffles out of the trays and filling the machine up again with more batter like we were born to do this.

We just talk while we wait the 2 minutes between each 2 waffles the maker makes, "If you can make any color waffle what color would it be?" I ask scooping the last of the batter into the waffle making trays and closing the lid on them.

"Hot pink! I've made light pink waffle and light blue waffles with my dad using food coloring before. But I have never had a hot pink waffle," she says and smiles at me as she leans into the counter while sitting on the stool on the other side of the island.

"I'd probably have to say i'd make some green waffles," I respond waiting for the red light on the waffle maker to turn green signaling they are ready. I open up the waffle maker and use a fork to pull out the steaming waffles. I plop the last waffle down onto the huge plate with the stack of waffles for us to share. Kayla finds the drawer where the silverware is hiding in and takes out two forks.

She hands me a fork as she props herself back up onto the stool and says, "So now we can both say we've made waffles. Hopefully they are actually good and not like the worst waffles ever," she says poking a flimsy waffle with her fork.

"First time for everything. If they suck we can just blame it on the waffle maker," I joke stabbing a waffle with my fork lifting it up off the plate.

She does the same holding the waffle up on her fork like it's a torch in front of her mouth, "Okay, let's take a bite at the same time." I nod my head agreeing with her holding my fork up close to my mouth as she starts to countdown, "3,…2,…1, go!". We both lean in taking a bite off the side of the waffle. "Mmm," she says while finishing chewing, "not bad for our first ever waffle making experience."

"We don't suck after all!" I jokingly exclaim making her smile. I love making her smile.

We both finish our waffles and she sets down her fork. "Hope you don't mind but I'm more of a 'eat with your hands' kind of eater. Some food just taste better eating it with your hands, waffles being one of those foods," she says holding her hands up doing jazz hands.

I smile thinking that I just might have found my perfect girl. "Exactly! I couldn't agree more," I say setting down my fork and picking up a second waffle with her.

I lean against the kitchen island as she sits up in the stool on the other side. We tear apart our waffles with our hands putting chunks in her mouth. Occasionally she'll throw a piece of her waffle at me and I'll dodge it and throw one back aiming at her. We talk about random things that have no importance and laugh about some of the weirdest things making us almost choke on our waffles. All I have to do is look at her and a smile appears on my face.

I look over at the clock and see it's 8:47am. I have to leave in about an hour if I want to get to the studio on time. Kayla practically reads my mind an says, "Anabelle is meeting me at my hotel room at 9:30 to do some sight seeing so I should probably get going soon."

"If you want you can wait about 20 minutes for me to get ready and I can call a cab to drop you off at your hotel. It's on the way to the studio so it wouldn't be a trouble at all," I say coming up with a plan on how to spend as much time as possible with her before I have to go.

"Are you sure? I don't want to make you do anything unnecessary and make you late," she says before finishing the last piece of her waffle.

"Yeah, it's fine! It's on the way so I won't be late at all, and you won't have to pay for a cab. Just give me some time to get ready and I'll call the cab so they can meet us out front," I say convincing her to take up my offer.

"Okay, if it's fine with you," she says smiling at me.

"I'll be right back then," I say walking towards the hallway that leads to my bedroom. Before being turning the corner I look back and smile at her. She smiles back and I just know I don't want to loose her.
