Trying to Let Go
03:29, 5 August 2024Aphmau's POV:
It's been a day or two since that whole 'incident' played out. I'm so glad that everyone accepted me, especially Katelyn. I got so nervous about telling her, I didn't think she would. Today has been as decent as it could get. Alina went crazy again, and she jumped on me, leading to the inevitable of my falling over and hurting my back. I sat down for the rest of the day, which wasn't that long. And finally to end off the day, I got in bed and slowly drifted off into dreamland.
I thought I would be talking to Blaze today, but I guess not. He wasn't there, and neither was I. I wasn't in a black void. I was in a place I didn't recognize. It was completely white, but my surroundings slowly changed into a background. I was in front of a ginormous house made of logs. Feeling chills go up my spine, I chose to enter the house. I opened the door, and the door automatically locked behind me, and I wanted out.
I was completely surrounded by a bright green. There was nothing but this color. Not even the door was there anymore. I could only see green, and I felt as if I could only see black. I felt pain overflowing my body all over again, in more ways than one. My eyes flooded with tears, and my legs became weak. I collapsed to the green floor and curled myself up on the floor. I leaned on the wall I couldn't see and lightly rocked myself. Memories broke my brain, and I felt I began to hallucinate. I saw Ein, beating me to the ground. I saw Aaron colliding with the soft snow that turned blood red. I saw my friends, hurting one another, only trying to please Ein. And lastly, I saw a beam go through my chest, and my eyes closed shut.
I was gone. Or at least that's what I felt. Now I was cursed to see that retched color for the rest of eternity. It brought back so much. It overwhelmed me. I couldn't take this fear that was imprinted in my brain. A fear that I fear would never go away. That I would never be able to let go. Suddenly, an image flashed in my face, and I woke up sweat pouring all over my face, In bed, safe at last. I tried to picture the image I saw in my dream, but I was lost. It came by so fast, and it was so blurry. I gave up and wiped the water off my forehead. I didn't realize I had screamed when I woke up, but apparently I did, because Aaron burst into the room, with Melissa on his tail and Alina in the back.
"What happened? Are you okay?" Aaron rushed over to me. I nodded and relaxed in my bed.
"Did you have a bad dream again?" He asked. I nodded again, for some reason unable to speak. Aaron smiled at me and sat on the bed. He held my hand closest to him, and squeezed it gently.
"You're gonna get through this. You know that, right?" Aaron asked. I feel like this is the most serious he's talked to me so far. I reluctantly nodded my head quickly and he smiled.
"Good. I'm gonna help you get through this. We're gonna help you get through this. Okay?" He asked me one last time. I returned his smile back to him and nodded my head.
"Okay." I said. My voice was a little raspy, and I sounded tired than I was. I wonder how much sleep I got. I look at the clock and saw it was twelve. I guess Aaron let me sleep in again. This is the third time this week. I should really tell him to get me waking up at nine. I don't want to get used to waking up late. When I got out of bed, I noticed Aaron's hoodie wasn't where it was supposed to be. I looked all over my room, turning the place upside down looking for it.
"Whatcha looking for- WOAH!! HEY! DON'T THROW ME ACROSS THE ROOM!!" Woof said. I didn't even realize I threw her.
"Oh, whoops. Sorry Woof." I said, continuing to scramble up my things in search of that hoodie.
"Could you answer my question, please?" Woof asked irritatedly.
"I'm looking for Aaron's hoodie. It isn't on its hook." I said.
"Oh, that old thing? I saw Aaron take it." Woof said. I ran out of the room and slammed the door behind me to run to Aaron. I slowed down as I went down the stairs, and then went back to running when I reached the ground floor. I found Aaron doing something with Alina in the living room, and I saw he was wearing his hoodie. I went over to him and tapped his shoulder.
"Hey Aph! Look at what Alina learned." He pointed to Alina and she did a Rollie polly. She got back up, smiled at me. ran up to me and hugged my leg. I gave her back a hug and she grin grew wide.
"Good job Alina! I'm so proud of you!" I said. I looked back to Aaron to see him blushing a little. We made eye contact, and he was locked in my eyes, and mine in his. His coal black eyes were so shiny I could've mistaken them for diamonds, and the way they glimmered in the shadows gave me a sense of hope. I lost my thoughts when I looked at them, but regained the, when I heard a sound of plates clashing with one another in the kitchen, which broke my focus with Aaron. My question came back to me, so I looked back to Aaron, and almost got lost in his eyes once more.
"Hey, Aaron? If you're gonna wear that jacket all day, do you mind if you put it back in my room when you're done?" I asked.
"How come? I thought Melissa said that this was my jacket." He said, looking down on it.
"Well, It is, but you guys left it at the hospital, and I suppose I just got used to having it on most of the time, and now-" I would've babbled on if Aaron hadn't stopped me.
"Aphmau? I wanted to ask you, if I could try to help you, y'know, let things go, like how I said we'd help you earlier. I was thinking about this for a while, which is why I haven't touched this jacket after Melissa told me it was mine. You don't have to agree to this if you don't want to, but I was wondering if I could keep this jacket for the night. I want to see how you'll do without it." Aaron said. It was a great idea, but I had no idea what would become of it. I was nervous, but knew this would have to happen eventually if I wanted to be normal again. I agreed, and he kept the jacket for the day.
Night time rolled around the corner quite quickly today, and it was time for bed. As I hopped onto my bed, I saw Aaron's hoodie wasn't on its hook. I was still a little worried about his idea, but I knew it was for the best. I got myself in a comfy position, and closed my eyes. I fell asleep, and my dream began. The first thing I saw when I reopened my eyes was a wooden bridge.
Under it, was a street, with nothing in sight. I could hear people in the distance, so I hid. I saw people I thought I'd never see again. I saw men dressed in GF uniforms, rushing to the bridge with a bunch of werewolves. They all stood there, and there was one werewolf that stood out among them all. I saw a werewolf with a gray streak in his hair, and he had green emerald eyes. It was extremely clear who that person was. They all stood there, like they were waiting for something. Suddenly, I saw someone walking on the other side of the bridge. His face was paralyzed, and his eyes were deep in thought. He walked slowly across the bridge, but came to a stop a quarter way through, being blocked by a familiar old friend.
Blaze blocked the mansion path, and the man's expression remained the same. Blaze said a few things, and the man then looked sad.
"Out of my way, Blaze." He said in a sad tone.
"No. This ends here. No more lies. No more excuses. You betrayed us. You're the monster, and your entire family paid for your mistakes." With every word Blaze spoke, the man grew angry. He held a mighty midnight Kona colored sword, and his grip on it grew stronger. With Blazes final words, he swung the sword and slashed at Blazes chest. And that was it. Blaze was dead. And at last, I could see the man who held his sword high. It was Aaron. His eyes turned blood red, and they were filled with expressionless rage. One by one, a werewolf sacrificed their life to face him, and every single one of them dropped dead. Finally, when the last werewolf collapsed, Ein and Aaron made eye contact. Ein's grin was wide, and it grew into an eerie laughter, louder than the nearby crowd that was screaming in terror.
And with that, Ein made him snap. His legs went weak, and he dropped his sword. His eyes went wide, he held his head and screamed agony. He fell to the ground, as each werewolf feature began to slip. I worried for him, while Ein just stood there and watched, with a ginormous smile stuck on his face. I couldn't bear to watch, so I closed my eyes. I thought I'd open my eyes and I'd wake up back in my bed, for this was already torture for me, but I opened my eyes once I heard an ominous growl. It was very loud, and it struck fear in me. I opened my eyes, and they grew wide when I was what was before me. I saw a gigantic pitch black wolf with bulging red eyes. Was that Aaron?! But it couldn't be. That wasn't then Aaron I knew then, or now. His deep growl created a shiver that crawled up my spine.
People continued to scream, as others were being turned by Aaron's eyes. Many collapsed and died. Aaron took his focus back onto Ein, and he howled loudly. I covered my ears as I watch Aaron charge at Ein. Ein barely dodged him, and jumped into the air. A beam and Ein made with his hands was shot at Aaron, and it hit. It looked almost exactly like the one he used on me. Ein landed back on the ground, and Aaron was bleeding out of his chest. Without a care, he ran to Ein and clawed at his face. He didn't miss this time, and it sent Ein tumbling and flying backwards. Somehow, he managed to get back on his feet to stick the landing, and he attempted to shoot another beam at Aaron as he was charging at him. The beam missed him and Aaron pounced on Ein, leaving his head dangling over the edge of the bridge. Ein shot yet another beam at Aaron and missed again. Aaron jumped out of the way, which gave Ein time to get up. Then Ein and Aaron began to joust, and they each charged at each other. They both missed. They did it once more, and Ein landed a hit on Aaron, which made Aaron fly back whimpering. Ein planned to charge once more, but Aaron jumped high in the air which stopped Ein in his tracks. Aaron pounced on Ein once more and struck him down with his final blow. He slashed into Ein's chest deeply, and Ein was definitely dead. I've never seen this before. Is this what really happened, or is my mind playing tricks on me? I don't want to believe that's what happened while I was gone.
Then something peculiar happened. Aaron began to sniff the cold air. I had no idea what he was doing. He continued, but suddenly stopped. His head turned in my direction, and he began walking. That walking pace turned into a trot, which turned into a canter, which turned into a full fledged sprint. He was getting too close to me. I was about to run out of my bush, but something jumped on me, making it unable to move. The pressure it was putting onto my chest was painful. I couldn't breathe. I twisted my head, and I saw Aaron's bloody paw was placed on my back. He stared me down, and he growled. His face inched closer and closed to mine, which made me scared. He got close enough to my face, and he sniffed the air again. He went back to his normal position. He lifted his paw off my back, and he stared at me for a while. I didn't move.
I was scared to move. I was paralyzed. He lifted his paw once more, and it went through me. All I saw was darkness.
I woke up sweating under my blankets. I looked out the window, and it was still quite dark outside. I looked at the clock. It was two in the morning. I was shaking out of my mind, and I looked back to where Aaron's jacket was supposed to be. Without it, I felt as if I was starting to get anxious. I needed to wear that sweater tonight. I got out of my bed and put my feet on the cold floor. I grabbed my cane next to me and quietly walked to Aaron's room. I entered, and noticed that Alina was also in his room. Aaron was sleeping in one corner of his bed, while Alina was sleeping on the other. I guess this is where she went to sleep for a couple days now. I brushed off my thoughts and saw Aaron's jacket hanging on a hanger next to his closet. I walked over, trying not to make too much noise, and grabbed the jacket. I put it on before I left, and I exited the room. I got out with what I wanted, and now I felt safe to close my eyes again.
