Staying Up Late
03:29, 5 August 2024Aphmau's POV:
Me, Ein, and Zack returned with delicious ice creams. I hadn't touched mine, while the boys were just finishing the cones. We opened the door with my keys and walked into the house. Melissa was just putting the food on the table.
"Oh, guys, you're back! I was setting up early today. Aaron helped me cook!" Melissa bragged, nudging Aaron who was sitting next to the table. I rolled over next to him and while Melissa wasn't looking, I whispered to Aaron.
"Here, this is for you." I handed him my ice cream. I know strawberry is his favorite. He looked over to my general direction and smiled. He then started eating the ice cream. Melissa handed me a dish of steak with a side of rice and baked potatoes. I gobbled up the potatoes first, a then ate the steak. I only ate half of the rice, because I got full. Ein was eating like a pig. I started laughing a little.
"Mwha?" Ein asked with his mouth full.
"Ein, manners." Zack said embarrassed. Ein swallowed his food before answering back.
"But I always eat like this!" Zack smacked the back of Ein's head and Ein pouted. I was still laughing, and Ein looked at me.
"What're you looking at?" Ein said grumpy. I would've kept laughing at him, but I could've swear I saw the old Ein. He was grinning evilly, and his eyes sparkled emerald green. I snapped out of it when Melissa snapped in front of my face.
"Hey, you okay? You weren't responding." Melissa asked.
"Oh, y-yeah, I'm fine." I tried distracting myself by eating more rice, even if I was extremely full. I didn't want Ein to see me nervous. I don't want him getting upset. But then again, I guess he really does understand how much I went through, seeing everything for himself. I was considering asking if I could have some space, but it's better if I stay with him longer so I get used to him faster. I don't want to slow the process down just because of some bad memories with a familiar face.
"So...you still don't mind us sleeping over for tonight, right?" Zack asked.
"It shouldn't be a problem, as long as you guys don't make a mess." Melissa said.
"Yay! Sleepovers!!" Ein exclaimed. Zack smacked the back of Ein's head again. I chuckled to myself and pushed away my plate from myself. I heard my phone ring tone buzz on the coffee table, so I rolled away from the table and went to get it. It was just a text from mom. She hopes I enjoy my time with Aaron, regardless of how she feels about it. That's really nice of her. I hope to see her soon. I take my phone back to the dinner table just in case it rings again, but just as I was rolling back I got another text message from someone else. It was from Dottie, Rylan, and Daniel!
"Hey Alpha! Just wanted to ask if you wanted to hang out this weekend! Maybe we could go to the beach!" Daniel texted.
"Of course! I'll see if Melissa can let me and Aaron go. We do have to leave for starlight on Sunday, so any day before that should be fine." I responded. I'll ask Melissa tomorrow. Besides, it's Thursday, so when Ein and Zack leave I can ask her about it. I roll back to the table and we all just talk for a few hours. After we finish, Melissa said we had to get ready for bed.
"But I'm not tired!" Ein complained. He yawned after finishing his sentence.
"Sure you aren't. But regardless, everyone has to head into their rooms now. Aph, you sure you don't mind Ein and Zack sleeping in your room? They did say they could sleep on the couches if necessary." Melissa asked.
"I think I'll be okay." I replied. Melissa rolled me up the stairs and Ein and Zack slowly followed behind. Melissa rolled me into my room and Ein and Zack entered as well. Melissa told Aaron two stay downstairs and wait for her to help him up, so Melissa left to go get him.
"Nice room, Aph. How long have you been living here?" Ein asked.
"Depends. How long I've been living here from the beginning, or since I came home from the hospital?" I made him answer my question first.
"From the beginning." He answered.
"I've been here with Aaron for about a little over a year, but that's because the mayor thought it would be a bright idea to blow up everyones houses because he thought they looked crappy." I explained. Zack looked surprised while Ein just laughed.
"Why would he think that?!" He said, unable to contain his laugher while talking.
"I dunno, but he did, and now we have the biggest house on the street." I said, a little down. Thankfully, none of the two noticed. I rolled over to my bed and hopped in. Ein and Zack came prepared and brought sleeping bags. We talked for quite a bit. It was two in the morning before me and Ein stopped reminiscing about high school, and Zack talked about habits I carried from when I was a baby. We all started getting tired, so we agreed it should be time to hit the hay. I managed to get my blankets on all by myself, and snuggled my warm blanket.
"Alright, see you guys tomorrow." Ein yawned. We all turned over and slept. I felt like I couldn't, but my eyes grew heavy and my body went limp. I had never fallen asleep so quickly, but it wasn't me that made myself fall asleep so quickly. I woke up back in the dark void. The only off thing was I was still in a wheelchair. Once again, I saw a familiar face coming towards me in a dark void, but it wasn't the same face it normally was. I saw a girl, a little girl, coming up to me. She had to be around five years old.
"Aww, who are you little one?" I asked playfully.
"It's me mommy! Don't you remember me?" She cooed. I looked at her questionably.
"I'm not your mommy, sweetheart. I can help you find her if you want-"
"Mommy, it's me! Alina!" She whined. She seemed really desperate. The name didn't ring any bells, nor did her face.
"I don't have any children, sweetie. Maybe I just look like your mommy." I insisted.
"Don't forget me again! Here, let me show you!" She jumped on my lap and she placed her small hand on my forehead. It was almost like a dream within a dream.
I saw everything.
