Ch.26

Sam POV

After we had been in the car for what seemed like hours, Brennen, or should I say Satan, took the duct tape off my mouth.

Right away I said, "Why the hell do you have to make my life a living hell?" I looked at Brennen through the rear view mirror with daggers in my eyes.

"It's quite simple actually, Colby is mine and only mine. I warned you both to keep your distance from each other but you didn't listen and now you have to pay the price."

My heart started beating really fast. How far was he willing to go?

"If you really loved him, you'd be happy that he's happy. What you're doing is being a selfish bastard. No one wants to be with someone like that."

He pulled the car over and got out of his seat. He then opened the back seat where I was sitting.

I was scared shitless but I tried not to show it. "Fucking hit me, I dare you."

He was taken aback for a minute but it didn't take him long to punch me square in the jaw.

"That should shut you up shouldn't it." He said to me.

My jaw was stinging by the time he got back in the drivers seat. I couldn't defend myself since my hands were tied together.

"Where the hell are we going?" I asked him, starting to gain a little more confidence.

"You'll find out soon enough." He simply said leaving me there to wonder.

I had to get out.

I had to get back to Colby.

Colby POV

I was starting to have another panic attack.

It had been 2 hours since Sam was ripped away from me.

I couldn't sleep, eat, or drink anything. I was frozen in my spot on the couch.

It's not like I could do anything but wait for the police.

Speaking of police, I still hadn't got any news. How the hell could Brennen be that good?

Everyone was in the living room sitting around me. No one was talking or moving.

We were all in shock.

I knew him going out there was a bad idea. I could feel it in my gut. I should have went out there with him.

His abduction was all my fault.

I got up and went to grab my phone.

"Colby what are you doing?" Jake asked sitting up.

"I'm calling Brennen." Is all I said.

Before I dialed his number I looked at them and told them to call the police and have them track the phone call.

After they started talking to the police I called him.

It rang.

And rang.

And-

"Heyyy Colby." I heard him say on the other line.

"Listen here asshole I'm not fucking around this time. Give me back Sam or else you won't see the light of day ever again."

I look over at them and they whisper to me to keep him on the phone a little longer.

"You'll have to find me first." He said.

Before I could say anything more he hung up and the line went dead.

I hit the end button and turned to them.

"Were they able to track it?"

The look on everyone's faces gave it away.

"God damnit!" I said before punching the wall.

I was never going to get Sam back. That was the only chance.

Sam could be hundreds of miles away from here for all I knew.

Everyone sat in silence once again. No one knew what to say.

Finally Corey spoke up. "If anyone can get out of a sticky situation, it's Sam."

What he was saying was true.

Any time we saw a cop when going to abandoned places he always had some idea. Now matter the situation he always found a way out.

"He'll find his way back. I'm sure of it." I finally said.

I laid back down in my spot and started to cry again.

He had to make it back home.

He had to.

Sam POV

The car stopped suddenly and all I could see was an old rusty house.

About 30 minutes before we got here, Brennen's phone rang.

I knew it was Colby.

It only lasted for a few seconds but I knew there was hope.

I couldn't give up now.

Brennen opened the back door and duct taped my mouth again before leading me inside.

I took a look at my surroundings, seeing if there was any way to escape on the outside.

When he lead me up the steps they creaked and I knew this place had to be old just from the look and sound of it.

He lead me inside and sat me down on a chair and tied me tight to it.

He ripped the the duct tape off my face enough to make me wince in pain.

He smiled sadistically. "That's what I like to see."

His words made me cringe. I opened my mouth to say something but he brought out a knife from behind him.

I froze.

He put the cold metal against my neck.

"Please you don't have to take it this far." I said pleading to him.

"You don't know how far I'm willing to go to get what I want Sam."

It was true. I truly didn't know.

He pulled the knife away from my neck and backed away.

I took in my surroundings once more.

I knew damn well that if I didn't fight my way out, I wasn't making it out alive.

Luckily, he left the room and went out to his car to get something I assumed.

I felt for the back pocket on my pants.

Sure enough, he had taken my phone.

There goes my first plan, to turn on my location.

The room was dark.

Luckily, I saw a nail sticking up from the floor boards.

Trying not to make much sound, I slid the chair towards the nail. I slid it enough to where I could get my feet on either side of it to try and get it loose.

Before I could get it loose, Brennen walked back in holding a backpack.

Through gritted teeth I said, "Let me go."

He started laughing. It was a sickly sound. "Like hell I will."

I started to struggle around in my seat trying to break free.

He got up and ran to me. He grabbed my neck and said, "Keep on struggling and I'll lodge this into your leg." He gestured towards the knife in his other hand I had not seen until now.

As he leaned in I lifted up my feet and kicked him really hard in the balls.

I hope he felt that in the morning.

I wiggled my way to the knife he dropped when he fell. Just as I got right over it he grabbed it and sliced the side of my stomach.

"AHHHHH" I shouted in pain. This was worse than anything I've ever felt before.

He got up panting saying, "Next time I won't be so nice."

My side was on fire and I could feel the blood dripping down. On top of that my face was pounding from the hard hit to the jaw I took.

God I hope there was someone out there that could help.

I knew there was no way I could escape on my own anymore.

Colby POV

I was contemplating on how to find where the love of my life was.

Another two hours had passed and I could only imagine what kind of pain he was going through.

I wish it was me instead of him.

Everyone had been trying all they could.

Elton, Corey, and Jake even went out to search for him.

I knew it was no use though. Brennen was smarter than most people thought. He wouldn't keep Sam close to home where people could easily find them.

He'd take him to a remote area far away where no one thought to look.

Oh my fucking god.

I got an idea and immediately yelled at everyone to come downstairs.

Everyone rushed down in a panic thinking something had happened.

"I think I might know where Brennen took Sam.." I trailed off.

"Say it then!" They all shouted at me.

"One time Brennen took me to his grandparents cabin out in the woods about an hour and a half away from here. It was remote and in the middle of nowhere. A perfect place where no one would find you. He had to have taken him there!"

They all got up and headed towards the door. "We're going to the police and then we're going there ourselves," Elton said before heading to his car.

I got in a car with Jake and we darted to the police station.

Once everyone got there we all went in and asked for the nearest person on Sam's case.

"We think we might know where Brennen is keeping Sam." Elton said to a policeman.

"How do you know? What's your proof?" He asked us in return.

"Look sir, Brennen is smart enough to not keep Sam nearby where anyone could find him. He would take him to a remote area far enough away where no one would think to look. He took me to his grandparents cabin about an hour and a half away from here. It's the perfect place. No one around to arouse suspicion." I said getting straight to the point.

The policeman stood there and pondered for a second before saying, "Alright kid I'll follow you in my car. This better not be a bust."

I hoped it wasn't going to be either.

Sam POV

One hit.

After another.

All this pain was becoming too much.

Brennen was angry. Very angry.

He wouldn't stop hitting me.

All I felt was my face being pounded on. I was numb to all the pain though.

I knew my demise was near. There was nothing I could do about it now.

"How does it feel to be helpless?" He shouted at me with a smile on his face.

I used my remaining strength to spit the blood in my mouth at him.

He responded with his fist straight to my cheek.

Everything started to turn black.

The last thing I heard was a car pull up and a knock on the door.

Colby POV

"How does it feel to be helpless?" I heard Brennen shout.

I got out of the car right away and stormed to the door.

No answer.

The policeman was right behind me and he broke down the door.

I saw Brennen's body disappear into the kitchen area.

I stormed after him wanting to pound him to the ground myself.

The policeman grabbed my arm and said to me, "I got this. Go find Sam."

I shook my head and he darted off into Brennen's direction.

Everyone came into the house and I looked over to see Sam strapped to a chair in the living room.

I ran to him shouting his name.

No response.

His hands and feet were tied together and his body was limp.

I went to rip off all the duct tape with shaky hands yelling, "NO NO NO THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!"

"SOMEONE HELP ME!!" I shout at everyone who are frozen in place at the sight of Sam.

It didn't even look like him. There was blood all over him and some on the floor.

What kind of monster could do something like this?

Elton checked for a pulse. "It's weak but it's there."

I called for the policeman.

Minutes later he came in with Brennen cuffed.

I charged Brennen. "You son of a bitch! How could you!" I punched him right in the face three times before being pulled back by Jake and Corey.

"Let me go!!!!"

"Sam needs help right now! That's the top priority!! Not this sick son of a bitch!" Corey yelled in response.

They let go of me and I grabbed Sam and carried him bridal style out into our car.

"Where's the nearest hospital at?" I asked panicking.

Elton pulled up the nearest one on his phone. "10 minutes away." He said.

I slammed on the gas pedal and backed out of the driveway.

I didn't care if there was a cop. Sam's life was in danger and I needed him.

Without him I wouldn't be able to live.

He's my everything.

He had to survive.
