Ch.16

Colby POV

I couldn't believe they were prying into our private lives like that.

If they wanted to know they could have pulled us together and asked. Not saying we would have told the truth though.

After Jake and Corey left my room I went straight to Sam. He would know what to do in this situation.

I walked over to his room and opened the door. He was pacing with rage and wouldn't stop.

"Sam..." I trailed off.

"Colby we need to do something... NOW!" Sam shouts at me.

"Whoa whoa whoa calm down okay? Why can't they know about us?" I asked confused.

"You don't understand Colby, I have a girlfriend and it's going to take a while explaining just why I love you more than I love her."

Hey said he loves me. I thought he had moved on and all but I guess not.

"We need to tell them Sam." I said moving closer to him.

"Colby I'm scared to."

I moved closer and wrapped my arms around his body. "It's okay I'll be right by your side to back you up."

"Ok let's do this." He said pulling away.

We both put our angry faces on and crossed our arms when the door opened up.

We turned to see Elton opening up Sam's door probably on here to question him just like he questioned me.

We stared at Elton and everyone behind him with anger present in our eyes. Sam pointed downstairs and everyone made their descent down there.

We followed behind angrily and nervously afraid of what was about to happen.————————————————————Sam POV

I was beyond scared. I was afraid what they would think of us when we told them the whole story.

I gestured towards the couch and said, "Sit." They all sat down and Colby and I prepared ourselves for what was coming next. "Where should we begin?" Colby asked.

"From the beginning," Elton said.

"Ok guys please don't say anything until the end. We want to do our best at explaining this to you." I said nervously playing with my nails.

They all shook their heads yes and Colby began.

"We met in our Freshman year of high school. The only reason we became friends was because we liked the same girl, our drum major. I tried to hook them up because Sam was better for her than I ever could be. It didn't work out though and we both gave up. Our self esteem was at its lowest point so I decided we should do Vine."

I started where he left off with, " That's how our Vine career began. We became closer and eventually we caught feelings for each other before we moved to Cali. It was when we moved that we had admitted we loved each other. We went out on a date to a bakery when we met Elton and Corey."

Elton and Corey shook their heads in agreement.

I continued, "They knew their was something up between us but we never hinted at it until a few weeks ago. We tried to tell our fans and everyone wandering that we were dating but our manager wouldn't let us. He said it was too dangerous and he didn't want us to deal with all the backlash that would come with it."

Colby hopped in saying, "Sam and I were devastated. Our manager had come up with a plan for us though. He said that he had found a girl on the street that would be a perfect cover up for Sam. If we had ever done anything that could indicate there was something between us, Sam could always fall back on Kat saying he was straight. I got upset about it because I hated the idea of him being with another person. I loved him too much. We started getting in fights and I was caught up in my anger that I started to fake date Brennen to make him jealous."

Everyone was surprised even me. I thought they actually were dating up until this point.

He continued, "I didn't tell Sam because I was afraid he would get even more mad and we would start fighting again. We were in the middle of a fight when Elton texted about this house. We agreed to stop fighting and stay friends, nothing more. But when we went on the New Zealand trip it became too much for the both of us. The only reason why we asked to sleep in the same bed was so we could spend time with each other off camera. We felt that if we spent time with each other on camera we would slip up and wouldn't be able to explain it."

"I know you said to wait till the end but why didn't you guys date anyway? The only reason why we questioned you guys was because we saw your hug in our music video we just made. No one saw it happen so we thought it had to be real," Elton said.

I started with, "We were afraid of what people would think. We didn't want to be called names for loving who we wanted. We had talked about continuing our relationship but we knew it was going to be too hard. That hug your talking about wasn't supposed to be on camera, the camera crew happened to catch it. We talked about how much we appreciated each other and we admired how far we had come. Two Kansas boys living the dream. We started crying and we gave each other a tight hug that lasted for a while."

"Do you guys still love each other?" Corey asked.

I looked over to Colby knowing exactly what to say. He nodded knowing what I was going to say too.

"Of course we do."

The whole house was in tears. Colby and I tried to keep it together but we lost it. I hugged Colby and soon everyone joined in, creating a group hug.

They pulled away and I heard Jake say, "Operation Expose Solby was a success!"

Colby and I laughed and we finally sat down, intertwining our hands secretly. We still didn't feel safe expressing our feelings in front of them yet.

Aaron spoke up and said, "Don't think we would ever judge you for being who you are."

"Thank you guys. We really appreciate it." I said, tears rolling out of my eyes.————————————————————Elton POV

After everything Sam and Colby told us I couldn't believe they were keeping it to themselves. It must have been so damn hard.

I went up to Corey and asked him his opinion on this whole thing.

"Honestly it sucks that they can't be with each other. It's all because of that manager of theirs." He said looking disgusted.

I suddenly got an idea.

I pulled all the roommates together after Sam and Colby went back upstairs.

"Guys we need to do something." I said. Luckily, everyone shook their heads in agreement.

"I feel like we need to talk to their manager." ————————————————————A couple days later (still Elton POV)

It was time to put our plan into action.

Corey, Jake, and I arrived at Sam and Colby's manager's place.

We prepared what exactly we were going to say and we got out of the car and made our way to his front doorstep. We knocked on the door waiting for a response.

Finally, the door opened and he was surprised.

"H-hey guys what are you doing here?" He said.

"We're here to talk about Sam and Colby." I said. His expression changed instantly and he gestured ya to come inside.

We all sat down on his couch and stared him down.

"Look I don't know what exactly you guys want, but it won't change my decision. They can't let the public know they're dating."

"And why not! They should have a right to decide what they get to do with their own lives!" Jake shouted.

"Yeah! What Jake said!" Corey agreed.

"I-I..." their manager began with. I never game him the chance to finish though.

"Look whatever sick game you're playing here, we won't allow it." I said.

"You aren't listening! I'm not keeping them from being together! I'm only protecting them!" Their manager said.

"If by help you mean hurt them, then yeah your doing great." Jake stated.

"I'll make a deal with you."

"Oh yeah and what is that?" I said.

"This should be good," Corey said under his breath.

"Sam and Colby can show some kind of affection towards each other on camera as long as Kat is still in the picture. If she's gone, then the deals off." The manager said.

Corey, Jake, and I stared at each other and finally agreed to it. At least they wouldn't have to keep their distance on camera without having the worries of slipping- up. They had a free pass. It was better than nothing.

Their manager was still a douchebag though.

We got up and left saying, "Thank you."————————————————————Colby POV

I got a call from Sam and I's manager telling me to bring Sam into the same room as me and put him on speaker phone.

I called Sam and he darted in asking what was wrong.

I muted the phone and said, "It's our manager," worry evident in my eyes.

"Okay I'm here what's up?" Sam asked him impatiently.

"I made a compromise that will benefit the both of you."

Sam and I looked at each other confused. "Go on." I said.

"You guys don't have to worry about slipping-up on camera anymore. You can do whatever you want but Sam has to keep his girlfriend."

Sam looked happy and sad when I looked over at him.

"Ok thanks. Talk to you later," I said quickly and hung up.

Immediately I have Sam a hug. We sat there together with each other in our arms.

We both were crying for some reason. We were both overjoyed at the news since we could act the way we want on camera.

The downside was that we couldn't say we were dating since Sam was supposed to stay with Kat.

I didn't like that at all but if it meant we could be together again, in secret, I'd deal with it.

"I love you so much Colby."

"I love you too Sam."
