Colby POV

The next morning when I open my eyes, I immediately see Sam laying on his bed. I smile widely. He's so cute when he's sleeping!

The real question was: what were we? Was Sam and I just friends? Best friends? Best friends with feelings for each other? Boyfriends? I wish we were, but we weren't officially dating. We said we loved each other, but that isn't enough. I need to show him that I love him, you know?

Something then popped in my head: what if we went on a date? Is it too early for that? I have no idea! Well, we can at least try.

I get out of bed and quietly dig through my drawers for clothes, careful not to wake up Sam. I ran out of the room to the bathroom and quickly changed and freshened up before grabbing my keys, wallet, and heading out into the cool Autumn morning.

I drove to Target and ran inside to the cards. After minutes of trying to find a good card for Sam, an employee with a name tag "Brianna" came up to me.

"Do you need any help, sir?" I looked up at her and smiled and shook my head.

"Nah, I'm good. Thank you though." I turned back to the cards, thinking that she left. But a few moments later, I heard her speak up again.

"Are you trying to find something specific?" She asked.

"Well, I'm just trying to find a card for someone I really care about." I spoke up, not making eye contact with her. I saw her kneel next to me and look at the section I was looking at.

"Umm.. y-you do know that you're looking at the 'boyfriend' section... right?" She said slowly.

"Uh, yeah. I.. I am aware, thank you." God, I'm starting to get tired of her. I looked at her, who had a disgusted face. "I-I think I'm fine. You can leave now."

She rolled her eyes and stood up. As she started walking away, I heard her whisper "disgusting fag". That made me angry. How can people these days still think and act like that?! It's fucking 2015, for Christ's sake!

I found a card and some chocolate, paid for them, and quickly ran out of the store to my car.

The second I got into the car, I screamed. I just couldn't hold it in anymore. People made me so angry. The fact that people have the guts to say something like that to their faces just because they loved someone is insane.

I sighed and started the car, heading back to the apartment.

————————-

I opened the door and saw Sam laying on the couch, editing a video. He looked up and smiled brightly at me. I smiled back, trying to hide the bag.

"Morning, Colby!" He exclaimed happily. I couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "Where were you?"

"I just went to Target to grab something. Actually, can I talk to you about something?" He nodded as he put down his computer. I made my way to the couch and sat next to him.

I handed him the card and chocolate, nervous about what he'll say. He read through the card and a small smile and blush crept along his face.

He looked at me. "What is all of this?" He asked.

"W-Well... I don't know how do to this really but, uh... do you want to maybe... go on a date- or something... t-today?" I asked. His eyes widened. Well, here comes the rejection that I've sadly gotten to know through out the past few years of high school.

He leans in a hugs me. I sit there, scared of what he was going to say.

"Of coarse, I'll go on a date with you!" I smiled widely, hugging him back tightly. We stayed like that for a few minutes before pulling back. "What are we going to do?"

"Well, That depends on what you want to do." I said.

"As long as if it's with you, I'm fine with anything." He said.

———————-

I sat on the couch, nervously playing with my hands. I changed into a long sleeve black shirt, red pants, and a black beanie with some hair sticking out.

Soon, Sam came out in a grey sweater and black jeans. I smiled as I got up and met him at the door. We looked at each other with our smiles growing wider and left.

The first few minutes of the date went by slowly and really awkward. We didn't talk that much, made eye contact, or really anything for a while.

We made it to a long street with a bunch of shops and restaurants, where we walked around. Other couples walked around together, kids played together, and some people walked their dogs.

It was a cold Autumn morning, but it was worth it since I had Sam with me. "Do you want to eat something?" I asked. He nodded, tucking his hands into his pockets.

We found a bakery and walked in it. Sam ordered a hot chocolate and a chocolate filled croissant and I ordered a coffee with a chocolate chip muffin. After ordering, we found a table and sat in it. We still didn't talk that much, but did make eye contact once in a while.

That's when a man about our age sat at a table next to us with a computer and earbuds. He wore a black sweatshirt and had dark hair. He looked really familiar like I've seen him from somewhere, but I couldn't tell where or who he was.

Another man sat next to him, an older man. He looked familiar as well. He turned around and looked at the younger boy, and then I knew who he was.

"Elton!" Sam called, making him turn around and face us. His face lit up as Sam and I smiled and waved.

"Hey, guys! What's up?" He said as he stood up. We stood up and hugged him. "It's been so long since I've seen you two."

     "I know, we've missed you! How's life?" I asked.

"Well, it's been alright. You know, just the usual YouTube and Vine stuff. Nothing really new. Actually..." he turned around and gestured towards the younger man who now had his earbuds out. "This is a new friend of mine: Corey Scherer. Corey, these are my old friends Sam and Colby.

Corey Scherer! I knew he seemed familiar! "Oh my God. I'm sorry, but I just have to say that I love your vines!" I say to him. He smiles.

"I was going to say the same about your vines! They're absolutely hilarious." He says. I couldn't help but smile. One of my favorite Viners just said that he loved our vines!

We continued to talk. Once Sam and I's food got here, they pushed their table against ours and we continued to talk.

We talked about YouTube, Vine, our personal lives, and more. And I just have to say: I've never felt more happy. I was around three of my favorite people in the world, just talking together and making new friendships.

"Ok, ok. I'm sorry but I just have to ask: are you and Sam...?" He pointed his fingers at us, asking if we were dating. I looked at Sam and he was blushing just as much as me.

"U-Uh, no. We're- we're just friends." Sam said. Corey and Elton both smirked and looked at each other. I looked back at Sam with scared eyes.

"Uh Huh. You sure about that? 'Just friends'?" Elton said, making air quotes.

"I don't believe that." Corey said. Sam looked down to his lap and blushed. I folded my arms and stared at my coffee cup with a blush.

"Corey, look at them. Do you see how they're sitting? Fidgeting, sweating, blushing." Elton said.

"Oh, yeah I do see that. Why do you think they're sitting like that?" Corey asked. Elton shrugged and whispered something in his ear, causing Corey to laugh loudly and gently hit the older man's arm.

They continued to laugh. By now, the whole bakery was staring at us. When they finally stopped laughing and calmed down, they apologized and we continued our conversation.

Later, I saw that it was almost 2:00. We spent 4 hours just talking with Elton and Corey. And I don't regret it.

——————-

All 4 of us walked out of the bakery, laughing and joking about a story Sam said about high school. We talked about doing a collab soon with Corey, exchanged numbers, and walked in separate ways.

"That was amazing!" Sam said, smiling.

"I know! I freaking love Corey's vines. I'm so happy we got to meet him and hang out with Elton again!" I said.

"Same! I missed Elton. He's like an uncle to me." He said. I laughed a bit.

"I can see him as an uncle. Huh... Uncle Elton. That has a nice ring to it." I said.

Sam and I continued to talk a bit as we walked down the street. Soon, we found ourselves at an alley that led to the beach. We walked down it. We both took off our shoes and walked down the beach.

We talked about how we felt about living in LA and our experiences here. It felt so right, that I almost forgot that we were on a date and not just hanging out.

     "Hey, Colby?" He spoke up.

     "Yeah?" I responded.

"What are we?" He asked. This is the question. The question that needs a good answer. An answer that can either make or destroy a relationship.

"What do you think we are? What do you want to be?" I asked slowly. He stayed silent for a bit, thinking about it.

We stopped walking and stared at each other. "Well, I don't know. I love you, and you love me. I want to be a couple, but what would everyone say?" He said.

"Who cares about what the fans, our families, friends, or anyone thinks? If we love each other, then we're allowed to love each other." I said, thinking back to this morning with that Target worker.

He gave a small smile. I stared into his baby blue eyes, admiring them. I bit my lip a bit, wanting to kiss him. But it felt weird.

Screw that. Screw everyone else's opinions. Screw anything that's holding me back.

I gently grab his chin and lean forward, placing my lips on his. His lips were so soft, it felt so right. I placed my other hand on his hips and felt his hands grab both of my arms. He forced himself off the kiss, walking back a bit.

We stared at each other. Did I really just do that? Goddammit, he probably hates me now.

"I-I'm So sorry, Sam. I wasn't thinking straight. I-" I started before he interrupted me.

"No, it's fine. It's j-just... that was my first kiss ever." He said softly, but loud enough for me to hear.

Did I honestly just steal his lips virginity? God, I'm so stupid!

"Oh, my God. I'm so sorry." I tried saying, hoping he wouldn't be upset.

"Hey, it's ok Colby. That's completely fine." He said with a small blush and smile. I couldn't help but give him another small, quick peck on the lips

—————-

Later that night when we got home after a dinner, Sam went back to the couch to continue his editing. I grabbed a water bottle and headed to the room after talking with him for a bit more.

I took off my shirt and changed into sweats and jumped into bed, FaceTiming Jake. He answered almost immediately.

"How did it go?" He asked with a smirk.

"What do you mean?" I asked. He raised an eyebrow with his smirk growing a bit.

"Your date with Sam!" He exclaimed loudly. I shushed him to make sure Sam didn't hear Jake over his headphones.

"How did you know about that?!" I whisper-yelled.

"My buddy, Corey Scherer, texted me about you two." Goddammit Corey. Of coarse he told Jake.

"How do you two know each other?" I asked, trying to change the subject.

"We met each other a few weeks ago at a party. He's a really cool dude that told me that you and Sam were on a date." He said. Great. Just great. But how would Corey know that we were on a date when we said we were only friends? "Now, stop trying to change the subject Cole. How did your date go?" I sighed, knowing that he won't stop asking. Such a Jake Webber thing.

"Well, we left the apartment around 9:30. Went to a bakery, met Corey and Elton and talked with them until 2:00, went to the beach and... kissed him, and then went out for dinner and came home." I whispered the part about the kiss.

"What was that part about the beach? What happened?" He asked with a smirk. Dang it, he heard it.

"I... kissed him." I said a bit louder with a smile and lowered my head to the ground. I heard him screech and I laugh, looking back up at his grinning face.

"Bro! You know that was his first kiss, right? You stole his first kiss!!" He screamed like a fan girl.

"Yeah, I know.." I said. I didn't know what else to say. I was so happy!

"That virginity isn't the only thing you'll take from him tonight, you know-" He said. I didn't say anything, only hung up. A few seconds later, Jake sent me a text with laugh-crying emojis, water emojis, and eggplant emojis. I laughed and put my phone down.

///September, 2016///

It's been almost a year since Sam and I went on our first date. Earlier this year on Valentines Day, I asked him to be my boyfriend and he luckily said yes! It's been a few months since then, and we've never been happier.

We moved into a new apartment in LA in May too. It was a better apartment, in my opinion.

We didn't tell anyone about us dating either. It was our secret. Only Jake knew, which knowing him could be a bad idea of telling him.  Our families or any of our other friends knew about us dating. So whenever we went out in public, we had to hide our love and I hated it.

I looked up from my phone when I felt someone curl up next to me: Sam. I smiled and wrapped an arm around him.

"Heeeey, Colby." He said, tired from waking up early.

"Well, you're tired." I said, laughing a bit as he yawned.

"Yeah... I tried taking a nap, but I couldn't." He said. I felt him watch as I opened my phone and looked through social media.

Together, we watched some edits and looked at some pictures of us. Since last year, the Solby ship has gotten more popular in the fandom. There was been more pictures and edits, which we said we felt uncomfortable with. That was somewhat true.

To us, it felt weird to know that our fans shipped us but we couldn't tell them about it. I wish we could tell them.

"Hey, Sam? How would you feel if we told our fans about us... dating?" I said slowly. I turned off my phone and he looked up at me. He played with my shirt a bit as he thought.

"Well, I want to. But how would everyone else react though?" He asked.

"We have the best fans in the world. They would definitely be fine with us dating. Not to mention, probably more than half of them ship us. I'm just mainly worried about our families." I said.

We sat there in silence for a bit, thinking about it until he spoke up.

"Let's do it. Let's tell them." He said.

A/N- So, a lot happened in this chapter. But the next chapter is gonna be insane! ~Kaitlyn
