~Chapter 19~
09:56, 19 December 2012A/N: Hellooooo
Just some news on my personal lifeee... I GOT A PUPPY! Her name is Penny and she's an Old English sheepdog... (Y'know like the one on the Dulux Paint Ad?)
Also, my wifi has been really stupid lately, dropped out for like 5 days last week and it's on and off all the time now, for no apparent reason. (Dad's been on the phone with technicians a lot but no one can pinpoint any reason why our wifi won't work.) So... just a warning in case I disappear off the face of the earth... IM NOT DEAD IM JUST LACKING WIFI.
Speaking of death, I'm pretty pumped for the world to end on Friday hahahaha, so let's all have a laugh about that next Tuesday, hey? I mean, the world can't end if this fanfic isn't finished! ;)
OK on with your favourite part of my update.. (Or so I hope it is...)

"Are you really okay though?"
I whispered to Luke, looking up at him in the faint light of the night.
Calum, Michael, Ashton, Hannah, Luke and I were all sprawled out on my living room floor. The others had quickly collapsed and fallen asleep but like Luke's, my mind was still buzzing. Luke sat against the lounge, his legs crossed, and I lay with my head on his legs, a blanket covering us both.
"Yes. God Lexi, the question should be are YOU okay? I feel so bad, I collapsed in my own house, I couldn't be heroic and save my own girlfriend when she was in danger. I feel so emasculated, honestly. But what you did for me, saving my life, well... I owe you my everything. It was my idea to stay in the house, I sang you to sleep, and then fell asleep myself. It's my fault this all even happened, but you're the reason I'm still alive right now.
The nurse, she told me what you did. You carried me? You carried me almost 100m from my house to the roadside. You JUMPED over a flaming tree with me on your back. You are a hero Lexi, I owe you my life."
He planted soft kisses on my lips when he'd finished.
I couldn't help it; I let a few stray tears escape my tired eyes, thankful that it was dark enough for them to be invisible to his eyes.
It wasn't that I was sad, that wasn't the reason I was crying. It was because I was thankful. Luke didn't lose his life; I saved it. I cried; because I knew that losing Luke would be unbearable, and I vowed to myself that I'd never let anything take him away from me.
"I know it's only been a little while since we became a couple, but I know this is for real. This isn't just an experimental relationship. Given time, I think it'll be love Alexis, I really do."
Luke whispered, wiping the tears from my eyes.
"How did you know I was crying?" I sniffled, cupping his face with my hands. I could faintly see those gorgeous blue eyes staring at me with care and appreciation. I smiled and forced myself to stop the tears.
"Darling, I wouldn't even have to look at you to know you were crying. I heard you sniffle, you cute crier. But hey, just because you're cute when you cry doesn't mean you should do it all the time!"
I laughed, as he lifted my torso off his legs, and pulled me into a hug.
"I was crying because I was happy Luke, because for once in my life, I wasn't too late. I saved you, you didn't die."
"You're amazing Lex, you know that?"
I didn't reply, because I was fast asleep in his arms.

"...Er should we wake her up or?"
A male voice. Definitely a male voice.
"Dude, its Monday... She has school."
Another Male...
"Yeah... But the fire! She could easily get the day off..."
Oh, a third male...
"SHH YOU GUYS, SHE'S GONNA WAKE UP."
Hey... That voice sounds familiar... Like a girl I know...
I opened my eyes to see one female and three male faces staring down at me. I blinked, yawning, and then sat up. Once my brain had woken up I registered the familiar faces in front of me as those of 5 seconds of summer -minus Luke- and Hannah.
"Seriously! I told you, you're all too loud..." Hannah sighed. The other boys left the room, probably going for breakfast, judging by the sweet smell of pancakes that filled my nostrils.
Hannah was dressed in her school uniform, looking like she was all ready to leave when Ashton was ready to take her.
"Hey Lex, sleep well?" She asked, helping me stand.
"Yeah, I did actually." I smiled.
Hannah and I joined the other boys in the dining room, who were just finishing their pancakes. Michael held a can of whipped cream. He tilted his head back, opened his mouth and filled it with the cream. Calum, who was next to him, placed a strawberry on top of the mountain of whipped cream that filled Michael's mouth. Within seconds, it was all gone and he was licking his lips.
Luke appeared at my side, wrapping his left hand around my waist protectively. I snuggled into his side. "School or no school?" he asked.
"Umm...No school today. But I wanna go for the rest of the week; it's the last week of school, Christmas Holidays come at me!"
Everyone laughed. Luke and I stood in the front doorway, watching as the others walked out to Ashton's car. We waved as they drove off, the car horn sounding as their final goodbye.
Luke shut the door, and Dad emerged from his office...
