Part 60

18:38, 11 July 2021

Lexa POV:"Do you know where the Ibuprofen is?" Clarke shouted from the bathroom.

I heard her searching through all the drawers, opening them and then closing them when they came up empty.

"Uh, it's right here," I said, walking in behind her and handing her the bottle.

"You ok?" I asked as I watched her fill up a cup of water. "Yeah, just have a headache," she said before swallowing the pills and drinking down the rest of the water in the cup. "Ok," I said with a kiss on her cheek as I left the room to go down into the kitchen.

"Hey Lexi," Luna said in an overly cheery voice as I got to the bottom of the stairs.

I immediately froze in my spot and cringed at her words and the nickname she used. "Don't EVER call me that," I said, glaring directly at her. That name just, I can't. It makes my whole body cringe at the sound.

"What are you going to do about it?" Luna said back with a taunting smirk. God I hate how stubborn she is.

"You will regret it," I said back, keeping my face stoic and calm. "Mmm sure I will. Because if you do something to me, I have photos that I think our friends would really like to see. You know Raven, that picture on Instagram of Lexa really doesn't do justice to some of the other ones I happen to still have," she said, nudging her girlfriends arm playfully and I just about lost it.

"OH MY GOD YOU HAVE TO SHOW ME!!!" Raven said jumping up and down and pulling on her arm desperately.

"Luna," I threatened in a low voice but she just sat there, smiling peacefully as she drank a cup of coffee. She looked so innocent for someone who just threatened me.

"Be careful with your threats Lexi," she said, waving her phone around in the air, taunting me.

I'm going to kill her.

I was actually just about to before Clarke walked down the stairs.

"Hey Clarkie," Raven said, still full of energy and excitement from Lunas relentless teasing.

"Hey, you look hot," I said, looking at Clarke who sat down in a chair next to me.

"Save it for the bedroom Woods," Raven shot back immediately. I swear it's like she was just waiting for me to say that or something. I glared at her because it's not quite what I meant.

"That's not what I meant. I mean you actually look hot Clarke," I said, walking over to her and placing the back of my hand on her forehead to feel her temperature.

"We get it Lex, I'm fucking beautiful," Clarke joked and this time, although I did agree, I wasn't quite as amused as Raven or Luna who was laughing hysterically behind me.

"You're burning up," I said, removing my hand from her forehead. She didn't look great. Her face was paler and sweaty and the bags under her eyes were a little more noticeable than usual.

Something wasn't right.

"I feel fine," Clarke said, putting her own hand up to her forehead.

"Really?" I said, crossing my arms and looking at her skeptically. She looked back the same way like she was challenging me to see who was right.

Me of course. Though, she was really cute when she gave me that look.

"Really? So do you want something to eat?" I asked with a smug shrug, holding back the smile on my face to challenge her. From experience being sick, I know what happens in relation to food. Her face fell as she thought about an answer to the question.

"Probably not right, because it most likely feels like your going to-" I said but couldn't finish because Clarke jumped out of her seat and ran out of the kitchen and into the bathroom.

"Nice job Woods," Raven said sarcastically and I flipped her off before rushing after Clarke into the bathroom.

She was kneeling over the toilet seat. I grabbed her hair and held it back as she threw up again.

"It's ok," I said softly as I rubbed her back soothingly.

After a little while of her calming down, she didn't throw up again. Thank god. I thought I was going to be sick just by watching her.

"I think you're sick Clarke," I said as I looked over at her.

She had her knees up to her chest as she sat on the floor of the bathroom with her back up against the wall. She lifted her head out of her hands to glare at me who was sitting against the opposite wall from her.

"You think?" She said sarcastically. I smiled at the way that even in so much pain, she was able to still bring a smile to my face.

I stood up off the bathroom floor, extending my arm to Clarke. She grabbed it and I pulled her up. She stumbled a little but regained her balance as we walked out of the bathroom.

"You look terrible Griffin," Raven said immediately after we entered. Luna smacked her arm which made her rub the spot she was hit and say "hey," defensively at her girlfriend.

"Thanks Rae, means a lot," Clarke said sarcastically, looking back at her friend.

I sat Clarke down on the couch and I could tell she was feeling uncomfortable and queasy. Like she might fall over or vomit again.

"You ok, do you need anything?" I asked her and all I got was a small shake of her very beautiful head. I kissed her on the side of the head before walking away because I know it sucks to feel that shitty right now.

"I'm going to call Abby," I said as I pulled my phone out of my pocket. "Do you really think that's necessary?" Raven asked as she crossed her arms and looked over at Clarke who was seated on the couch.

"No, but Clarke is her daughter so she needs to know," I said as I dialed her number which I did in fact memorize.

"Hey Lexa is everything alright?" She said and I could hear the worry already in her voice. I guess it track record isn't very squeaky clean.

"Yes but Clarke is sick. I think she just has a cold. It's not severe but I just wanted to let you know," I said back and I could hear her take a breath.

"Thank you for telling me. I will be home after my shift is up but that won't be for a few hours," she said and I nodded my head but quickly realized she couldn't actually see me.

"Um, we might have some cold medicine she can take in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. If not, they should have some at the store around the corner," she said.

"Thank you Abby," I responded. "I will be back as soon as I can," she said but I could still hear the strain in her voice. Something that only comes when your child is sick.

I walked into her bathroom and searched through all the shelves. "Damnit," I mumbled at the realization that nothing useful was actually there that could help Clarke.

I walked back out to see Clarke sleeping soundly, for now, on the couch.

"I will be back in a little while," I whispered to her as I kissed her on the head. I heard her groan a little and fidget from her spot but she eventually fell back asleep.

"I'm going to the store to get her some medicine, will you look after her until I'm back? It shouldn't be more that 15 minutes," I said as I put my shoes on.

"No," Raven shot back almost immediately, earning a hit to the arm from her girlfriend. I looked up at her, glaring intensely before turning to Luna.

"Yes we will," Luna said and I laughed at the small interaction she had with her girlfriend as Luna also glared at her.

"She better not be dead when I get back or I will kill you," I said sternly before I walked out.

-37 minutes later-

"Hey, what took you so long?" Luna asked as I walked back through the door. She was sitting in a chair over by Clarke, keeping an eye on the sick blonde.

"I swear to god I absolutely hate people. There was this jackass going 30 in a 40 and I was stuck behind him ages. I finally got out when I turned onto our street but it took FOREVER," I said dramatically as I walked over to them. I was still pissed off about that.

Clarke was still asleep on the couch but she looked much worse. She was shivering and wrapped in 2 blankets but also sweating and hot to the touch. Her face looked somehow even paler and her body looked so much weaker. She had a runny nose and there were tissues scattered all around and according to Luna, she had thrown up again.

God I hate seeing her like this.

"Where's Raven?" I asked as I looked around the house and realizing how quiet it is. I thought being Clarke's best friend, Raven would be out here taking care of her.

"Oh, she won't touch Clarke with a 10 foot pole," Luna laughed as she pointed to their bedroom door, I'm guessing where Raven was.

"I heard that!" Raven shouted from behind the door, deep in their room. I was right. "Why?" I asked with a chuckle.

Raven opened the door a little, sticking her head out but didn't come any further.

"I'm a mechanics girl, Woods. Being around Clarke is just like taking a hard drive to the beach. One grain of sand could shut down the whole damn system and you're completely surrounded by it." She said, motioning around to us while still standing in the doorway, keeping her much needed distance.

"Oooor, Raven just doesn't like being sick," Luna said, stretching out her words, turning to me after seeing the confusion written all over my face.

"Nobody likes being sick Luna," Raven grumbled.

"Ok then," I said with a short nod and Raven shut the door quickly, wanted to keep the time with us short.

"Hey Clarke," I said, putting my hand on the side of her head. Her hair was sweaty and gross but I needed her to wake up.

"Hey sweetie, I have some medicine here that will make you feel better," I said as I saw her start to move. She fluttered her eyes open a little lazily to look at me.

"Lexa?" She asked with a groggy, scratchy voice. "Hey Clarke," I said softly as I delicately helped her sit up on the couch.

"Here, take this," I said as I handed her the cold medicine. She drank it but started coughing as it went down her throat so she stopped.

"I'm sorry you have to take care of me," Clarke mumbling and coughing still. She looked weak, very weak. Like the sup was about to fall out of her hand because she couldn't even Cary that much weight.

"Hey don't be sorry," I said, holding her hand gently. "I kind of like it. It's a change from you taking care of me," I admitted and Clarke gave me a weak smile.

"Thank you Lex," she muttered before closing her eyes once again, leaning into the depths of the couch that were calling her and clutching to the blanket with all her strength.

After I heard her breathing even out, I stood up, making my way to the kitchen.

"God I just hate seeing her this way," I whispered to Luna who also got up and followed after me. "Yeah I know," she said, rubbing my back.

"Hey Raven, open the door," Luna said, walking over to her room. But when she went to open the bedroom door, she expected it to open but it wasn't. Instead, she slammed her body into the locked door by accident, causing her to fall to the ground.

I started laughing hysterically as I watched her rub her head and bang on the door violently again from the floor.

Raven finally opened the door, looking down at her girlfriend who was sitting on the floor with a distasteful and angry face.

"Did you just run into the door?" Raven said with a very amused face and humorous chuckle as she crossed her arms and just looked down at her.

"No," Luna said, lying through her teeth as she stood up, straightening herself out again. Raven turned her head to look at me and I was still laughing hysterically. I nodded my head to her which just made Raven break out and join me in a fit of laughter.

"Why is the door even locked?" Luna grumbled, steering the conversation away from her embarrassing fall and into something else.

"Because you are all infected now," Raven said, taking a step back from me and Luna who just looked at each other with weird faces.

Infected?

"You are contaminated by Clarke's..." she didn't finish the sentences but motioned with her hands to Clarke and made a gross face.  "....goo," Raven finished.

"Oh my god Raven," I mumbled under my breath with a chuckle while I put my hand over my head. What a dork.

"You guys are all bound to get sick by her, and I for one, don't want any part of it," Raven said, crossing her arms like she was somehow better than us.

"You don't have to worry about that one," Luna said and I looked over at her. She was pointing towards me.

"What?" Raven asked, confused by what she meant. I however, knew what she was talking about and where she was going with this and I rolled my eyes.

"Lexa doesn't get sick," Luna said with a shrug. "Of course she doesn't," Raven threw her hands up in the air.

"I just have a strong immune system I guess," I said and they gave me looks which were a mix of angry, envy and impressed.

Although it was true, I had an excellent immune system, thank you birth parents. I do still get sick. I just have the best ways of hiding them because being sick around my dad was basically a death sentence. If I was sick I couldn't go to school or basically do anything myself which would just make him angry so I got better at hiding it from him and everybody.

But, they didn't need to know that part.

I heard Clarke start to move on the couch so I turned my head around and saw her trying to sit herself up.

"Good luck with that," Raven said sarcastically, shutting the door as I walked over to her.

"Hey how are you feeling?" I asked as I put my hand up to her forehead to check her temperature. It was still warm but not as bad as this morning.

"Better, I think," She mumbled, coughing as she moved into a sitting position in front of me.

"You should go, I don't want you to get sick," Clarke said, putting her arms out as to try and keep our distance.

"Yeah, we already tried that, she's not leaving," Luna said as she rounded the couch and came into view.

"You too, please, you guys don't have to stay," Clarke protested even more. When is she going to learn that nothing can keep me away from her?

"We aren't leaving. Even Raven is around here somewhere," I said, looking around to figure out where she went. Probably to quarantine herself back in her room.

"Wait she's still here?" Clarke asked all surprised and I nodded my head.

"I'm surprised she hasn't run out the door by now," Clarke said and Luna and I both laughed. "So you knew about her whole-" Luna started but was interrupted.

"Her whole grain of sand in the hardware, yeah," Clarke said, finishing Luna's sentence which caused us all to laugh even harder.

"Speaking of which, I'm going to go to her crazy self now," Luna said as she got up and went to their room. Double checking to see if it was locked or not to avoid another you know, situation.

"So you're better huh?" I said, looking back at Clarke who did indeed, look a little better.

"Oh yeaaah," she said dramatically with a very wide smile. "I bet that cold medicine is really kicking in right about now?" I said with a laugh as I looked at her. She was all drowsy and definitely not herself. She over exaggerated nodding her head.

I saw her whole body shiver and tiny goosebumps filled her skin. "Here," I said, leaning over her to get a blanket to cover her.

She started laughing as she looked up at me. "What?" I asked, not being able to stop my own laughter as I looked down at her.

Her laughter is contagious.

Her smile is contagious.

"You're like, hot," she said through more giggles. "Well I'm glad you think so Griffin," I said with another chuckle before pulling a blanket even tighter over her.

"No but you're like, really, really, really hot," she said like she was clarifying what she said. She spoke like her repeating her words was actually helping. She was also all loopy and drowsy and it was really freaking cute.

"You're not too bad yourself," I said laughing with her. "Really?" She said, getting excited. "Mhm," I said nodding my head.

She moved over to me and sloppily kissed me. "Clarke?" I said, pulling back and laughing in between her messy kisses.

"You're sick," I said, moving her back into the couch so she couldn't kiss me.

"Really? Because I feel UNSTOPPABLE!" She basically shouted as she tried to grab my arms and pull me back down to her.

I pinned her arms back down so she couldn't wiggle under me and grab me anymore. Her body was very weak so it wasn't very difficult and stopped the onslaught and wet, messy kisses.

"I bet you do but unfortunately, I'm going to have to stop you," I said with another laugh as I wrapped the blanket tightly around her arms so she couldn't grab me anymore.

She just sat there like a cute little burrito and gave me an adorable pouty face.

"You are on a lot of cold medication Clarke so just relax and get better so you feel better tomorrow ok?" I said and she gave me a cute little nod.

"Ok," I said back and I watched her fall asleep, which took very little time, while I sat next to her and rubbed her back.

A few hours went by and Clarke was still completely passed out on the couch. Raven and Luna have gone in and out of their bedroom and I have gotten up a few times but now I was still sitting next to her.

Abby came through the door after a while and I sat up to see her.

"Hey, how is she?" Abby asked in a hushed voice as she put her things down and walked over to her daughter.

"Better but she's been out for hours," I said. Abby cupped her daughter's cheeks with her hands and she smiled down at her.

"Hey mama G," Raven said, coming out of her room with Luna.

"Wow Raven, I'm surprised you're still here," Abby said with a laugh. "Anything for Clarkie," Raven said cheerfully like she was actually taking care of her friend instead of keeping herself locked away in her room to keep her distance.

"Hey," Clarke said quietly as she moved to sit up. I guess all the noise woke her up.

"OH MY GOD SHE'S ALIVE!" Raven yelled very loudly and dramatically at the new movement of Clarke.

"I swear to god I thought you were dead for a moment. You laid in the same spot for about 5 hours," Raven said with a laugh as everyone in the room began laughing with her.

Even Clarke.

"I'm fine guys," Clarke said as she tried to stand up but started to wobble. She obviously wasn't fine but we just let her have this.

"Hey sweetie how are you feeling?" Abby asked as she went over to Clarke and put her hand on her head. "I told you I was fine," Clarke said with a grunt but Abby gave her a look like she knew better.

"Well your fever has gone down a bit so that's good," Abby said, moving her hands from her head to cup her daughter's cheeks. "Thanks mom," Clarke grudgingly replied, but thankful.

"What time is it?" Clarke asked as she looked at the windows. The sky was getting darker.

"Uh 6:52" Raven said, pulling out her phone to look at the time. "Jeez," Clarke said as she put her hand on her head.

"Yeah you have been out for a while," Luna said with a chuckle. "Yeah I guess," Clarke said but when she started laughing, she started to cough.

Like a lot.

And she wouldn't stop.

"Oh hell no," Raven said as she grabbed two pencils from the table next to her, holding them in the form of a cross and pointing it at Clarke.

"BE GONE SATAN!" Raven yelled in a completely serious voice as she pointed the makeshift cross of pencils at Clarke.

"Raven!" Luna said, dying of laughter as she could barely get enough energy to stand up.

I was in the same condition and I turned my head away and started dying slowly.

"You know what Rae, if I'm the devil, I'm dragging you down to hell with me," Clarke said after she was done coughing and laughing as she walked closer to Raven.

"Ahhh!!" Raven shrieked as she ran away to her room and locked the door. I went over to try and hold onto Luna to stabilize myself because I was a few laughs away from falling to the ground.

"Ok I wish I got that on camera," Abby said and I turned to look at her and she was laughing hysterically too.

"Yeah, she's not coming out of there for another week," Clarke said with a chuckle as she walked back over.

"It's good to have you back Griff," I said as I walked over and hugged her from behind. "Glad to be back," Clarke said but I could tell she wasn't quite as good as new.

But getting closer

"Now let's get some food," Abby suggested and we all nodded or heads eagerly.

About 10 minutes later, pizza came and we got ready to eat.

"Hey Rae, we have food," Luna said, knocking on the door delicately. Raven opened it immediately, poking her head out the door and looking back and forth in the room.

"Ok secret spy let's go," Luna said and she laughed at her ridiculous girlfriend.

Raven walked up to get her pizza and was met with Clarke waiting for her.

"Raven," Clarke said, eyeing her. "Clarke," Raven said in a serious tone.

They were in an intense staring battle before they couldn't hold it in anymore and broke out into a fit of laughter.

After dinner everyone pretty much went to their own rooms. It was a very slow day yet everyone was completely exhausted.

"Hey," Clarke said happily as she sat down on the bed. "Hi," I said back, a little confused at her perky tone.

"You know, I still feel unstoppable," she said and I choked on air before bursting out in laughter.

"Really? Is that so?" I said, holding back my grin as I sat next to her. "Yeah," she said as she kissed me.

"Yeah I would like this a lot more if the picture of you throwing up was t flashing in my head," I said as I pulled back from the kiss.

"Yeah, and we are done," Clarke said as she pulled back as well and laid out in the bed.
