Part 59

15:46, 23 June 2021

Clarke POV:

"Why are you so smiley?" I said as I looked at the happy brunette next to me. She didn't smile often but right now, the whole vibe around her was warm and happy and I could not figure out why.

"I'm just excited for our soccer game today. We are going against Azgeda, they were the champions last year and we have to beat them this year," she said as she looked up to me with so much passion in her eyes. I felt a little bad because I was about to stomp all over it.

"You can't play Lex, you're still hurt," I said and I expected her smile to drop but it didn't. "I don't care Clarke, it's the last game of the season, I'm going to play regardless," she said firmly, leaving no room for a rebuttal. I wanted to, but I knew she wouldn't let me.

"Fine," I said, giving up. Once she had her heart set on this, there is no way she would give it up. It's one of the many things I love about her.

"What you guys talking about?" Raven said as she walked in. "And why is Lexa smiling? Again?" Luna questioned as she followed after her girlfriend. Lexa rolled her eyes at Luna's comment.

"Lex has a soccer game today," I said because it was clear Lexa wasn't going to say anything.

"Wait really? Can we come?" Raven said as she begged while bouncing on her toes excitedly. "You guys can come to my next one," Lexa answered confidently.

Raven and Luna looked satisfied with the answer they received from her. Me, I was a little bit more confused.

"I thought you said it was the last game of the season?" I asked quickly right after. Lexa whipped her head around and glared at me. I now realize that was the point.

"Seriously?" Luna said with her hands on her hips. "Clarke!" Lexa said as she looked at me with more of a glare. "Sorry," I said quietly but not very apologetically.

"Ok that's it, we are going to the game, and we are going to bring everyone you know and we are going to be super loud and embarrassing just because of that," Raven said sternly and Luna laughed victoriously beside her. Lexa rolled her eyes again and shook her head in the negative, thinking back to how she needed up hear.

"Can we just go?" Lexa whined as Raven was talking to Luna about all the things she could do at the game. We all nodded our heads and left for school.

"Hey guys, Lexa has a soccer game today and we are all going," Raven said immediately as we walked up to our friends. Lexa rolled her eyes and sighed as everyone agreed to go and watch her play.

"And we are going to make really big and embarrassing signs and cheer super loud," Raven added. "Hell yeah," Octavia said and everyone laughed with her. Except Lexa.

"This is your fault," Lexa said as she turned and pointed to me. "Clam down, it will be fun," I said as I put my hand on her shoulder. "You say that now but you're not the one who is going to have Raven scream your name while you are trying to focus," she said. "Fair enough," I said back as I took my arm off her shoulder.

"I got to go," she said quickly as she ran off. "Bye I guess," I said after her but she was already to far away.

Lexa POV:

It was finally time for the game and as we walked out to the field we saw all the people on the bleachers cheering us on. "Oh great," I muttered to myself as I saw all my friends cheering way too loudly, louder than anyone else.

We took our positions on the field, awaiting kickoff. "YEAH LEXA! WOO!" I heard Raven scream from the bleachers. "Oh my god," I mumbled under my breath and chuckled while placing my hand over my mouth.

"Do you know them?" One of my teammates asked me as she pointed in the direction to Raven who was still cheering extremely loud. "No," I said quickly with a laugh as I refocused on the game that just kicked off.

It was a tough battle. We were tied for the entire first half of the game and all I have to say is that Azgeda likes to play dirty.

They were getting fouls left and right, pulling on jerseys, kicking, tripping and being unsportsmanlike towards us. The ref finally blew the whistle to end the first half of the game and I was completely exhausted.

"Alright team, I know it's rough out there but we have to stay strong. Hold your ground girls because that ref isn't calling those fouls anymore. Dig deep, it's the last game of the season," the coach said, clapping his hands at the end to get everyone's spirits up.

"Alright, let's get back out there," he said as we took the field for the second half. I caught a few glances from Azgeda and I swear to god one of them growled at me.

Strange.

The second half started and it was even more grueling than the first. One of the players from Azgeda was dribbling down the sideline, she had already pushed past the defender on that side.

And I mean literally. She actually pushed her away with her hands which should have been a fouls but I think the ref was just as tired as us, calling all these fouls.

We were tied, 0-0 and she was so close to scoring. I couldn't let them win. Over my dead body.

I ran down the line to catch her. I was faster than her, but she had a head start. She was still a little bit in front of me though. I saw her leg go back as she was about to shoot and I slid my body across in front of her. Blocking her shot and sending both of us to the ground.

I heard her yell in pain as I looked around. The ball went out of bounds. I got to my feet quickly but I looked down and the girl was rolling in pain as she grabbed her leg.

The ref blew the whistle to stop the play and motioned the coach over. He picked up the girl and took her off of the field.

"Come on ref that has to be a foul!" One of her teammates yelled at the ref who didn't say anything. "It was a clean tackle," I muttered to myself, a little louder than I needed to because she heard me loud and clear. That may have been my intention.

"You hurt her leg!" She said angrily as she got closer to me. I could feel her anger flying off of her.

"That's not my problem because when I slid in, I hit the ball, and only the ball. It was her that fell and hurt herself afterwards," I said back, my face blank as I spoke. Azgeda seems to feed off of emotion and I wasn't going to give them the satisfaction.

She just looked at me angrily after I spoke but didn't say anything and walked away. She knew I was right.

We resumed the play after a sub came in and replaced the girl that was injured.

I was dribbling down the sideline when someone came over and tried to push me off the ball. I was stronger than her and faster so I pushed the ball ahead and ran onto it, running right past her.

I was still dribbling down the line as I got closer to the goal. A few defenders came to try and tackle me but I made moves to get around them. I was almost there and I went to shoot the when someone knocked me from my back. Hard. It hurt like a bitch,

All the air in my lungs was completely and utterly gone. The wind knocked out of me. I sat with my back down on the ground as I struggled to breath. The referee blew his whistle to stop the play and jogged over to me.

I quickly stood up, still barely being able to catch my breath but if I didn't, he would take me off the field. I hunched over and put my hands on my knees, my head hanging down as I focused solely on my breathing and nothing else while I calmed down.

I finally got it back and stood up straight again. The ref was talking intently to the girl who hit me. He held up a yellow card in the air and I could hear arguing from the azgeda teammates and booing from their part of the bleachers but I knew this was our opportunity to win.

The ball was set up for a penalty kick and I lined up behind it. I looked at the goalkeeper who was giving me a menacing look but I wasn't thrown off by it. I inhaled sharply, feeling the pain on my stomach that was still throbbing but I focused on anything else.

I was ready to take the kick as my eyes drifted over to the stanze. I saw everyone waiting eagerly for me to kick the ball.

Then my eyes found her. Her blue ones glistened at the sight of mine and she smiled. I slightly smiled back and I was finally ready to make the shot.

I took one last breath.

Inhale then exhale.

I looked the keeper in the eye as I ran up to the ball, shooting it, placing it in the top left corner of the net.

I scored.

The stanze erupted with cheer as I felt pats on my back and arms thrown across me. I sat there and smiled as I looked at the ball in the back of the net, not moving.

I got pulled out of my stare when someone ran in front of me and hugged me. I cheered with them at the fact that we are now winning in the game.

Finally.

But it's not over yet.

A few minutes went by and we were battling for the ball again. Like nothing had changed. But it did.

Azgeda was hungry, violent. They wanted to win and we were stopping them.

The ref finally blew the whistle, signifying the end of the game and I let out a sigh of relief. We did it.

The whole team wrapped me in a giant hug as I just stood there. I couldn't move even if I wanted to and the smile on my face didn't want to go anywhere either.

"Oh my god, Lexa that was amazing, Clarke said to me as she wrapped her arms tightly around my neck.

I had already changed out of my uniform and gotten off of the field by the time I saw them.

"It really was," Luna said as her and the rest of the group had walked over by now. "Thank you guys," I responded as Clarke backed away from the hug.

"WOODS!" someone said behind me and I swear my eyes could not physically roll any further back into my head with hatred for the person who just called out my name.

I slowly turned my head around to look at him over my shoulder.

"You injured my girlfriend Woods," he said angrily as he approached with his little group of friends tailing behind him.

"What?" I asked as I now turned my body to face him completely. "I said you injured my girlfriend," Bellamy said, anger still resting on his face.

"No I heard you, I just can't believe you actually got a girl to go out with you," I said back with a wide grin.

Raven burst out laughing behind me but tried to stop herself by slapping her hand over her mouth. I looked at her and saw a few of the others were holding back laughter as well.

"Don't worry about this one Bell. One hit to the gut and it's all over, she's down for good. It may even send her to the hospital as payback for when she did it to you," Finn said snarkily from behind Bellamy, shocking both of us.

Bellamy looked at him with a confused look and then he turned back to look at me, shifting his eyes to figure out Finn's meaning.

"What? Don't believe me? Why don't you try it and find out?" He said, addressing Bellamy. "It hurts doesn't it? The pain that had been sitting there, refusing to go away since that day, I know it does," Finn said, addressing me now, stepping out from behind Bellamy. I clenched my jaw at his words and I could feel the stares of everyone of my friends behind me.

"Why don't you let us see?" He said, stepping even closer to me. I was frozen in place, my mind racing, not moving.

Bellamy still looked confused by the whole situation. I looked over my shoulder at my friends who had a similar expression on their faces. I didn't have an answer for them.

"What is he talking about?" Octavia asked, looking back and forth between us with a confused face.

"Oh, they don't know?" Finn asked, pointing to my group of friends and looking back at me with a deadly smirk. He definitely knew they didn't know but he was just playing with me now.

"I'm surprised you don't tell them. With all the stuff you preach about safety and protection, I thought you would have told them because the biggest thing they have to protect themselves from.... is you," He said, redirecting his finger towards me. He stepped closer and I couldn't say anything back.

"They should know what kind of person they let hang around them, what kind of person they let into their lives. You are a danger to everyone you touch and they don't even know how much," he said and I could feel the tears building up in my eyes as I looked over at them.

They still looked confused and now they looked hurt by his words. Clarke, Raven and Luna looked absolutely terrified. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out.

"Lexa please tell us what he is talking about," Lincoln pleaded, putting himself in front of Octavia protectively. I didn't even blame him.

"Do it, show them, tell them," Finn said, taking another step closer to me so his face was right in front of mine.

"Show them what he did to you, show them what you did to yourself because of him. Why don't you tell them what he did to Raven and what he almost did to Clarke. Go ahead and tell them who you really are," he said in my face. He spoke quietly so I was the only one that could hear what he was saying. But if you were close enough around us you could hear what he said as well.

But how did he know? How did Finn know any of this?

I couldn't speak. I had tears in my eyes that were spilling out of my soul and seeping down my cheek at this point.

I looked at them.

All of their faces. All of them looked back at me and I couldn't take it anymore. I looked down at the ground, away from everyone. I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand before looking back up to Finn.

I was about to say something when I was cut off. Not by words though. Finn was knocked to the ground and someone was over top of him, hitting him mercilessly into the ground. What the hell is going on?

Bellamy was the one who hit him. I wasted no time once Finn was knocked over, I ran away. I couldn't face them right now.

Clarke POV:

I was in such shock when I saw Bellamy hit Finn that I barely saw Lexa take off.

"Lexa," I called after her but she didn't turn around. I looked back at the scene and Raven was looking at me, her eyes still in shock. "Go," she said as she motioned me away and I started running in the direction Lexa went in.

Damn she is fast. I lost her already. I was walking in the direction she went, hoping to find her.

I turned the corner of a building and Lexa was standing there, facing the wall. She had both her hands against the brick wall while her head hung low between them and she stared at the ground.

"Lex?" I said as I walked over to her but she didn't move from her position. I put my back up against the wall next to her and just sat with her for a moment.

"How did he know?" She said quietly as her voice cracked while she spoke. It broke my heart to hear her voice like that, in so much pain.

She lifted up her head and I could see her puffy eyes and tear stained cheeks. Her eyes filled with fear and I could see the anger take over in her eyes.

She pulled away from the wall and put her hand on her head. "I don't know," I told her as I looked down at my hands. It was true. I had no clue how Finn could have known about all those things.

"How the hell did he know?" She repeated and she rubbed her hand through her hair before clenching her fists and hitting the brick wall. She looked at her fists in anger and I could see that she was hurt by it. Her gaze went back to the wall as she hit it again. Over and over again.

"Lexa stop," I said and I could see the blood dripping down her arm and the skin on her knuckles was being torn away.

"Please stop," I pleaded and she slowed down. The wall was covered in her blood and when she turned to look at me I could see the anger fade away and the tears coming back into her eyes.

She put her back against the wall and slowly slid down in until she got to the ground. She slumped her head over and put her hands over her face.

"He was right," she said mumbled. My head came up to look down at her. "What?" I said, bending down and sitting in front of her.

"I wanted to keep everyone safe but you were only in real danger from me," she said as she removed her hands from her face to look at me.

"You can't be serious?" I said as I scanned over her face. She looked back at me and I knew she actually believed what she was saying.

"They don't know Clarke. You, Raven and Luna all know what I am and what I have done and I am thankful that you still chose to be around me but them. They don't know what they got themselves into, what kind of danger they have been in because of me. It's not fair to them that I didn't tell them and it's my fault if anything happens to them," she said as tears flooded out of her eyes once again and she looked down at the ground, not being able to look me in the eyes anymore.

"Hey, don't say that," I said as I put my hands on her cheeks and lifted her head up so she could look at me. "But what if-" she started but I cut her off by placing my lips up against hers. I could tell she was shocked by the motion by the slow reaction time it took for her to kiss back.

"Nothing else, don't say anything else. That's how much we all care for you, that's how much I love you, and that's how much we want and need you in our lives," I said, pulling back from the kiss and rubbing my finger over her cheek.

She didn't say anything else, she just looked into my eyes. I looked into her green eyes and I could see she was scared. I could see the fear that rested so far behind the jade orbs that sat on her face.

She smiled slightly and I stood up, holding my hand out for her to grab. I saw her hesitate but she grabbed it.

The hand she placed in mine was the one she used to hit the wall. It was bleeding down her arm and the skin on it was torn up. "Come on, let's get that cleaned up," I said, leading her away.

I drove her back to the house and the whole car ride, she looked down at her bloody hand which was shaking. "Come on," I said softly as we pulled up to the house.

I took her inside. I set my keys down and we went to the bathroom. I turned on the sink water and held out my hand for her. She slowly put her bloody hand in mine and I guided it under the water. I could see her flinch when the water ran over it.

It took no time for the water in the sink to turn red. I gently rubbed the blood off her arm that trailed almost all the way up to her shoulder. After I was done I turned the tap off and used a towel to carefully dry her arm and hand.

"There," I said as I looked up at her. "All better," I said with a smile as I kissed her bruised hand softly. "Thank you," she smiled back.

"Hey," Raven said, as we walked out into the living room. "Are you ok?" Luna asked, looking at Lexa. "Yeah, I'm fine," She said, putting her hand over her head and rubbing it through her hair as she turned to look at her.

"Woah, that doesn't look fine, what happened?" Luna said worriedly as she walked up to Lexa and took her bruised hand in her own to look at.

"You should see the other guy," Lexa said with a smirk as Luna inspected her hand. I just chuckled at her comment.

"Yeah, I bet that brick wall is looking real nice right about now," I said sarcastically with a laugh and they all turned to look at me.

Luna looked worriedly at Lexa and her hand, Raven started breaking out in laughter, and Lexa just rolled her eyes.
