Part 55

06:27, 7 June 2021

Clarke POV:

"I'm going to kill her," I muttered under my breath.

I may have forgotten exactly where I am right now. "What was that?" Raven asked as her and I turned to see all my friends looked at me confused at what I said and why exactly I said it.

"Uh," I said blankly as I looked at them, trying to find any words to explain what I said but I didn't have time for that.

School was about to start and any minute the bell would ring. "Nothing," I answered quickly to them. They all made eye contact with each other at how weird I was acting but I didn't care.

"I'm gonna-uh-" I said, not bothering to finish my sentence before turning my back and walking away from the group.

"What?" Raven called after me in confusion but I didn't answer and just continued to walk away.

Lexa POV:

I walked into the school with my head down and quickly went to get my books from my locker for the classes I'm still not sure why I'm still taking.

"What the hell is wrong with you," someone said. Hmm, there is a lot of room for answers in that question.

I couldn't see their face because of my locker door but I recognized the voice. It was all to familiar to me.

"What did I do this time Clarke?" I asked without looking at her as I fumbled around my locker. "This," she said before I felt sharp pain in my arm.

"Ow," I complained as I used my good hand to grip the part where it hurt by my elbow. I finally faced her as she was the reason for the sudden pain in my arm.

"Why did you do that?" I asked as I took in the sight of her. Beautiful as always. "Because you are not wearing you brace," she said as she crossed her arms. And there it is.

"Hey, hold on. You said I only had to wear it for a short time," I said as I pointed at her.

"Yeah, that means longer than 24 hours," she said, raising her eyebrows with her arms still crossed. "Fair enough," I laughed. I had no intention of wearing the sling though, especially around the school were everyone could see.

"So you are ok then?" She questioned as her arms fell out of there crossed position as she took a more caring posture and tone with me.

"Yeah I'm ok," I told her truthfully. I know she needed to hear that right now. She needed the reassurance.

"Good because I thought you were dead," she said and I chuckled. I looked over at her and she actually looked a little serious.

"You're not kidding?" I asked her and she shook her head. "Why?" I said to her, trying to suppress another laugh.

"I texted you after we left the hospital just to make sure you were okay and you didn't respond back so I got worried," she said shyly, shrugging her shoulders and looking at the ground. I scanned her face and she was actually completely genuine.

I felt bad but I couldn't stop laughing at what she said. "What?" She asked as she crossed her arms again. I didn't answer her at first and just laughed again.

I shut my locker door which had been hanging open for the past couple of minutes and turned to look at her.

"Clarke," I said, controlling my laughter and settling down. "What?" She said and her tone was much more aggravated by my laughter especially because she didn't know why.

"Uh, I don't have a phone Clarke," I said, holding back more laughs. She looked like she was about to say something and then she stopped herself in thought.

"You threw it away," she finally said and I nodded with her as it clicked in her head. "Mhm," I hummed.

"So you haven't gotten any of my texts," she said as she put her hand on her head and shook it softly. "You've done this multiple times?" I questioned, ready to burst into laughter again.

It also felt good that she tried to text me. Even if it was pointless, she tried. It meant she cared enough to do it.

"Yeah and when you didn't answer at first, I thought you were just ignoring me," She shrugged. I could tell she was a little embarrassed.

"I wouldn't ignore you Clarke," I said, no longer laughing and falling serious. "Well I thought you just wanted space," she said and shrugged again. "Even when I need space, I wouldn't ignore you," I said as I stepped closer to her.

No matter what, I wouldn't cut Clarke out, I couldn't. I would do anything for her and if she wanted to reach out to me, I would answer and be there for her, no questions asked. Even if I did leave.

She didn't say anything and our eyes interlocked as we got closer together. I was looking down to her and our faces were inches apart. My eyes jumped back and forth between her stunning blue eyes. I missed them.

Then the bell rang. Fuck. It startled Clarke a little because I saw her jump back. I moved my head back and took a breath in. We both walked to class, not speaking again after that moment.

I went to the back of the classroom where my seat was while Clarke took her seat towards the front.

I didn't pay much attention to the teacher as she was talking. I laid back in my seat and fiddled with my pencil in my hands, spinning it around. I watched as the pencil spun over and over again in my fingers.

The door to the classroom opened and caught the pencil in my hands, stopping the spinning motion. The teacher stopped talking about whatever it was she was talking about and looked at the door.

Principal Jaha and a police officer stood in the doorway and I could see everyone whispering in confusion. This probably wasn't good.

"Is there something I can do for you?" The teacher asked, like it was her obligation to do so because you could hear the annoyance in her voice. Jaha looked around the classroom for a minute before his eyes found me. Crap.

"I need Ms. Woods please," he said and everyone turned in their seats to look at me. Great, not awkward at all. They all looked back at me confused but as I stood up. I caught the eye of the blonde and she had a worried expression on her face.

"It's ok," I mouthed to her as I picked up my stuff and left the classroom.

I could hear even more whispers about me as I left but I didn't focus too much on it.

I closed the door and could faintly hear the teacher continue talking again, just like she hadn't been interrupted at all.

"Ms. Woods," principal Jaha said with a nod before walking away, leaving me in the hallway with the police officer.

I recognized him. He was the one I spoke to outside the house a couple days ago.

"It is nice to see you again Ms. Woods," he said with a slight smile.

"What happened?" I said blatantly. I didn't really feel like all the pleasantries or small talk. "Right to it then. I have good news," he said.

I sighed and my face held a slightly annoyed, and irritated look.

"I said good news," he said again like I didn't hear him. "I know," I responded as I crossed my arms.

"Really? Because from the look on your face, you would think I said something else," he said with a small chuckle and I could see him scan over my face.

"I don't trust good news. It usually ends up in bad news, masked by a good meaning," I said, unfolding my crossed arms and putting them on my hips. I just wanted him to tell me and stop chattering.

"Ok then, well, they finally closed your fathers case and with you being his only remaining family..." he said and I scoffed at his last words. I wouldn't call that family.

"...you have been appointed all of his assets," he said and I sighed and rubbed my hand over my head. That's just great.

"And there it is," I said as I shook my head. "What?" He asked as he crossed his arms.

"I have his assets which you would assume is a good thing except I don't want his things and I have to deal with it now," I responded with a scowl on my face. Even from the grave my father seems to still piss me off.

"I have a feeling you're a glass half empty kind of girl," he said and I could see the corner of his face move up. Smile lines crossing over his face.

"You could say that," I said back. I just see what is really there, I don't have time for hope because you can't rely on it. Only facts.

"Come by the station after school, we need you to fill out some paperwork but other than that, you are good to go," he said with a friendly smile. He was actually a very kind man.

"Thank you," I responded before I went back into the classroom. I opened the door and everyone stopped what they were doing to look at me. Fucking perfect.

The teacher scowled at the interruption and I went quietly to my seat, not wanting to cause anymore trouble. I saw Clarke's head turn in my direction as I sat down.

"You ok?" She mouthed and I nodded my head.

After class ended, Clarke came up to me. "Is everything alright?" She asked, worry lacing her words.

"Yeah," I said quickly. I didn't want to tell her, not yet. Not until I had everything handled.

"I just, need to go," I said as I placed my hand on her shoulder before walking past her, out the door.

"Where are you going?" She called after me but I couldn't answer her so I just kept walking.

Clarke POV:

"Have any of you guys seen Lexa?" I asked my group of friends as I practically ran up to them, panting and out of breath.

"No, I don't think so," Octavia responded as she looked around. "Why? What's going on?" Luna asked and I could tell she was worried.

"She was here this morning so she must be around here," Lincoln said as he also began to move his head around, in search of her through all the students passing by.

"I'm worried something happened," I said and I completely forgot I was around people who didn't know Lexa's past or what was going on because Jasper looked at me and said "why would something be wrong?" I froze, not knowing what to say.

"Nothing, she just got called out of class," I eventually said as I looked from Jasper to Luna and Raven.

I motioned them subtly with my eyes over to the side so we could talk. They looked at the rest of the group who seemed to have already moved on to another subject of conversation.

"Lexa was called out of class by a police officer and after she just ran off, I'm afraid something might have happened," I said quietly after I got a safe distance away so nobody could hear us.

"No, no, no, that's not good," Luna said as she put her hand through her hair.

"And she didn't tell you anything?" Luna asked a as she looked up at me. "No, she said she was ok but then just left," I said and it didn't seem to help ease her worry.

"Have you tried calling her?" Raven asked and I laughed. They didn't seem to get why exactly I was laughing though and passed confused glances at each other. "Uh, she didn't answer," I said, clearing my throat and not bothering to tell them.

"Then there is nothing we can do," Luna said, putting her arms out and shrugging her shoulders.

"Yeah I know, that's what sucks," I said, mentally kicking the dirt. I hate that I don't know what happened or if she is ok. I just want to know.

"I'm just, gonna, uh..." I said, pointing behind me before turning and walking away. "Really? Again Griffin?" Raven called out after me. I just smirked as I walked further away.

After my last class of the day was over, I was packing up my stuff. Everyone else rushed out of class to leave so I was the only one left.

"Hey," Someone said and I jumped as the voice started me. I looked up and there she was, standing in the doorway, leaning against the wall.

"God Lexa," I said with my hand over my heart as I ran over and hugged her.

"Did I scare you?" She laughed as I pulled away. "No," I muttered to myself, obviously lying because right could still hear the loud heartbeat in my chest.

"Liar," she said as she nudged me a little. "Ok whatever," I said as I walked back over to my stuff and picked it up, throwing the bag over my shoulder to leave.

"Is everything ok?" I asked as I stopped in front of her again, hoping she would tell me. "Yeah," she said and I crossed my arms at her answer. Not exactly what I wanted.

"What?" She said as she tilted her head to the side. And I smiled. I have to admit, that was really cute.

"That's what you said earlier before you ran off," I said back to her, controlling my urge to kiss her at her cute face.

"I didn't run... ok maybe I did run off," she said, nodding her head and finally agreeing with me.

"Mhm, want to tell me where you went?" I asked as I put my hands in my pockets because I didn't know what to do with them. "I went to go get this," she said as she moved her hand from behind her back.

"You got a phone?" I said as I looked at it in her hand. "I did," she said with a smile as she nodded. "It's almost like you are an average teenager now," I said sarcastically while smirking at her.

She flipped it around in her hands before putting the phone in her back pocket. "Oh, and Clarke..." she said as she leaned off the wall so she was standing taller than me now and looking down at me.

She brushed her thumb over my cheek and leaned down so her face was level with mine. "I was never average," she whispered in my ear.

She stayed there for a moment and I looked into her eyes and against all my willpower, my gaze trailed down to her lips as they were so close to mine.

She smirked before standing up again and walking out of the room.

Damn.

I stood there frozen for what felt like forever. I couldn't speak or move. The only thing on my mind were her emerald eyes and soft, pink lips. Focus Clarke.

I shook my head to get myself out of my Lexa induced trance and finally left the room after her.
