Chapter 1- Enough Of This

Wildflower woke up to her mother and her aunt arguing, again. Smelt and Luridae did that a lot. Wildflower yawned and crawled out of bed. She stretched her back and shook her head.

Another day, another punishment.

She thought as she walked into the kitchen. Smelt and Luridae looked up from their bickering and glared at her.

"Where is our breakfast?" Luridae spat, gesturing to the bare, stone table.

"You had me work very late last night at the get-together and I needed sleep. I'm very sorry I slept in." Wildflower got out some camel meat and a few scorpions and started to roast them over a fire. Luridae grunted at her and turned to mutter something to Smelt. Wildflower used to wonder why her guardians never just roast their own food with their own fire or why they didn't just let he use her own fire. But she now understood that they were just really lazy and they didn't want her germs on their food. It didn't take long for the food to finish. Once it was done, Wildflower put the food in front of her aunt and mother. Smelt snatched up a scorpion and dropped it into her mouth, nodding her head.

"Very good." She said without looking at Wildflower. "Much better than last night's Gila and Horned Lizards."

"Thank you." Wildflower said with a small bow. "May I go to my room to get ready for the day's duties?" Luridae nodded and Wildflower walked back to he room, down the halls. Once she got to her room she sighed. Was she ever going to get out of this Sinkhole? Wildflower shook off the thought she had every day and got ready for the work ahead.

"What is this?! You call this clean floors?!" Smelt yelled at the dirty and tired Rainwing. Smelt glared daggers at her while Luridae spilled all the soapy water on Wildflower. "No dinner tonight and you're sleeping outside!"

"I wasn't quit fin-"

But Luridae wouldn't let her finish. She arched her venomous tail over her head, threatening the poor Rainwing. Wildflower got the point and ran out of the door with her head down. She headed to the garden shed as the yells of Luridae and Smelt were carried out to her. Wildflower sighed as she lay her head down on her talons. She had top escape. The idea crossed in mind many times but she knew nobody even loved her or wanted her. She was basically Smelt and Luridae's servant and they found her egg abandoned.

So what if that's what they say?

She thought.

Their probably lying anyway.

Wildflower went to sleep with dreams filled with running away from that dump. In the morning she started to plan. I didn't take long for it to fall into action... sort of.
