It's been a few more days, and the anticipation in the air is palpable as Lauren and Maeve make their way to the wedding venue. Lauren's hand rests gently on her baby bump, feeling the gentle flutters of life growing inside her. The car ride is filled with excitement and laughter, a welcome reprieve from the recent tension of their jobs. The wedding invitation is a reminder of the happiness that exists outside their precinct walls.Lauren is wearing a long soft pink dress that hugs her body in all the right places, the material whispering against her skin as she moves. Her bump is there but it's not as pronounced as it was when she had Maeve. She feels a twinge of nostalgia mixed with excitement for what's to come. The dress is a symbol of the softness she's found in her life amidst the chaos of her job.Maeve, on the other hand, is dressed in a short light purple dress that accentuates her youthful beauty. Her hair is styled half up, with loose curls framing her face. She looks up at her mom with a mix of admiration and love, her eyes sparkling with the joy of the moment. Lauren's heart swells with pride as she looks at the young woman she's helped raise, now blossoming into adulthood."Are you and Tim going to get married?" Maeve asks as they walk into the venue, her voice filled with hope and excitement. Lauren's cheeks heat up, and she glances over at Tim, who is busy talking to Angela, his back to them. She turns back to Maeve and smiles, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. "I hope so," she says, trying to keep her voice casual. "I mean, we are having a kid together."Maeve nods, her eyes shining. "He's good for you, Mom," she says, looking around at the beautiful floral arrangements adorning the venue. "I've never seen you this happy." Lauren's gaze follows hers, taking in the delicate blend of colors and scents. The flowers are a riot of all colors, with hints of greenery weaving through them, creating a vibrant and romantic backdrop for the wedding. As they walk up to Angela and Tim, Lauren feels a swell of happiness for her friends. "Oh, I'm so happy for you," Lauren says, wrapping her arms around Angela and giving her a warm hug. Angela laughs and hugs her back, her eyes sparkling. "Thank you," she whispers, her voice filled with gratitude. Lauren pulls back and looks at her friend, noticing the way Tim's eyes light up when he looks at her. She knows that look all too well. Before Tim can say anything, Tamara comes rushing over, her eyes wide and frantic. "I need super glue, hair pins, Maeve and your badge!" She looks at Lauren expectantly, her voice urgent. Lauren's eyebrows furrow in confusion, but she can see the determination in Tamara's eyes."Why my badge?" Tim asks, looking at Tamara with a mix of confusion and concern.
Tamara gives Tim a look that Lauren can't quite decipher, but the urgency is clear. Without a second thought, Tim nods, turning to Angela. "I'll handle this. You stay here." Angela's eyes dart between Lauren and Tim, her smile faltering slightly, but she nods in understanding. Lauren feels a flicker of concern, but Tim's confidence is reassuring.Tim then turns to Lauren, his expression a mix of determination and reassurance. "And I will come find you right after I'm done," he promises, giving her a quick peck on the forehead. She nods, trying to keep the worry from her eyes as she watches Tim and Maeve follow Tamara, the badge glinting in the soft light. As Lauren walks over to the open bar to get a water, she spots Nolan, his smile wide and familiar. "Lauren, hey!" he calls out, waving her over. Standing next to him is a woman with a beautiful dress that hugs her curves and falls down just above her ankles, her brown hair is wavy and up in a ponytail. Lauren's heart skips a beat as she approaches, unsure of the situation she's walking into."Nolan!" Lauren says as she gives him a hug, feeling the warmth of his embrace. It's been a whirlwind few days, and seeing a familiar face at the wedding brings a sense of comfort amidst the swirl of unanswered questions and new beginnings. She pulls back, her gaze lingering on the woman beside him. "And who's this lovely lady?""Hi, I'm Bailey!" the woman says, her smile as bright as the sun peeking through the windows of the elegant venue. She extends her hand, and Lauren takes it, feeling the warmth and strength in her grip."It's very nice to meet you," Lauren says genuinely, taking in the way Nolan's eyes light up when he looks at Bailey. It's clear they share a deep connection, one that Lauren can relate to with Tim."So, how do you know Nolan?" Lauren asks, sipping her water and hoping to ease any tension.Bailey laughs, a sound that's infectious and warm. "Well, long story short, I showed up to his house in a towel looking for a dog," she says, her cheeks turning a delightful shade of pink. Lauren's eyes widen in surprise, and Nolan laughs, his face turning red.Tim then comes over and puts a hand on Lauren's lower back, "Hey, I've been looking for you." He says with a smile that reaches his eyes, and she feels a comforting warmth spread through her at his touch. She turns to him, her own smile mirroring his.Lauren turns her gaze back to Bailey, taking in the warmth of her smile. "It was really nice meeting you, Bailey," she says sincerely, her voice a soft caress in the bustling room."You too," Bailey says with a smile, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "And let me just say, I'm so happy for the two of you." She nods towards Tim, who's watching them with a mix of curiosity and affection. Lauren feels her cheeks heat up, and she looks down at her stomach, a gesture that's become second nature to her.Tim takes Lauren's hand, lacing their fingers together, and they walk away from the bar and the growing crowd. Her heart races as she looks into Tim's eyes, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. "You look beautiful." Tim whispers, his voice low and sincere. Laura blushes, her eyes searching his. She's not used to this kind of public affection, but with Tim, it feels right.Lucy's gentle greeting pulls Lauren from her thoughts, and she looks up to see her friend approaching, her long green dress flowing like a soft river of silk. She can't help but smile at the sight of Lucy, her hair cascading down her back like a waterfall of chestnut curls. "You look stunning," Lauren says, her voice filled with genuine admiration. Lucy's cheeks tint pink, and she laughs lightly, her eyes sparkling."Thank you," Lucy says, her eyes flicking to Laura's baby bump. "How are you holding up?" Lauren's hand moves protectively to her belly, feeling the baby kick in response. "Better than expected," she admits, a small smile playing on her lips. "I've got a little one who's full of energy.""But enough about me, I heard you did your first solo op, and you took down two major drug traffickers!" Lauren says to Lucy, her voice filled with pride and excitement. She had always known Lucy had the potential to be an excellent cop, and now that she's seeing it play out in reality, it's like watching a friend's dream come true."It was... intense," Lucy says with a small laugh, her eyes distant for a moment as she recounts the nail-biting experience. Lauren nods, understanding the gravity of what she went through. "But I couldn't have done it without your guy's guidance," Lucy adds, her gaze softening. Lauren feels a warmth in her chest, knowing that her friendship and mentorship have made a difference in Lucy's life. But as Lucy's eyes scan the room, searching for the familiar face of Jackson West, Lauren can see the excitement bubbling beneath the surface. "I should go find Jackson," Lucy says, her voice a little too bright, her eyes not quite meeting Lauren's. She nods, giving her a knowing smile. "You go," she says gently. "We've got all night."With a nod, Lucy turns and makes her way through the crowd, her dress swirling around her like a leaf in the wind. Lauren watches her go, feeling a strange mix of pride and a hint of excitement. Her friend had come so far, and it was a bittersweet reminder of how their roles had shifted in the short time they'd known each other.Turning her attention back to Tim, Laura feels his hand squeeze hers gently. His eyes are warm, filled with a love she still finds surprising but no less intoxicating. They stand together, watching the wedding party mingle, their hearts beating in sync with the rhythm of the room.
