Something Immortal
David fiercely glared at his brother and Alan knew their "talk" might take up his entire night, despite his inner protest to refuse David, he could only yield to the latter sensing the subject they're about to partake is of utmost important, they made their way to the veranda.
Jasmine, who was about to drank her third punch was then approached by Meredith, "Jasmine,"
"Yes?"
"I'd like to know some more about your family background."
Jasmine tightly grips the glass, "My background?"
"I'd like to know about it," Meredith who doesn't know how to read the atmosphere pressed on, "Why is that?" Jasmine retorted back, not backing down.
"Alan and his family are people who became successful in their chosen field. And an irrefutable truth is that your employer is a renown celebrity all over the world, not to mention his accomplishments on and off the camera. It came into a shock to us when he decided to be a professor in a university so that he can become a hands-on dad to Julie."
"Julia, "Jasmine corrected through clenched fists, "what are you trying to say?" she looked steadily at Meredith.
"Julia," she began rolling her eyes at the mentioned of her niece's name, "has told me that her father is quite fond of you. Of course, he doesn't really love you. You understand, don't you?"
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know what it means to you, but to society, family background is the most important thing. For example, just having you together with Alan at this party would... spread nasty rumors about their family."
"What rumors?"
"For instance, a rumor that you're seducing your employer because of his wealth."
"WHAT?!"
Alan saw Meredith and Jasmine talking.
"What are you looking at brother?" David demanded Alan's full-attention, expressing Alan's particular fondness for his maid and it's becoming more and more heated the longer they talked, as well as Jasmine and Meredith's conversation.
"I've had your background investigated," Meredith looked at our heroine with pity, "it's a very pitiful background that its too horrible to speak of here."
Jasmine looked mortified; she took a step back.
"Don't misunderstand me girl. I haven't told anyone about it yet." Meredith triumphantly smiled, "this is your party after all."
Unfallen tears reflected on Jassy's eyes, as she tries to contain the emotions she's barely holding in.
"What do you think? I think we would both benefit from an arrangement."
"What should I do?" Jasmine asked, her voice shaking.
"I won't tell anyone about your family background, you'll graduate in a year. In exchange, I would like you to – "
"Rest assured... I – I don't think Mr. Rickman has any feelings for me."
Meredith laughs, "Of course not. Do you honestly think Alan will fall for someone like you?"
Jasmine bolted out of the door. In the end, we both live in different worlds. What did I think was going to happen to Alan and me? It was doomed from the start. An orphan like me doesn't belong with the elite.
"Jassy!"
Meredith blocks Alan's way, "she said she has something urgent to attend to."
"Bull – what did you tell her?"
"Would you like to know?"
Alan turned away from Meredith with disgust. "Jassy!" Alan called out to her in the snowy street but Jasmine hailed a taxi and off she goes to a place she knows not where. A place where Alan Rickman doesn't exist.
The cold snow running down the back of Jasmine's neck, fit nicely with her mood. The cab driver was kind enough to drive her all the way to central London seeing she doesn't have any money with her. Shifting her dress to cover as much skin as it can, she walked over the cold pathway to the nearest bus station, determine not to cry. But it wasn't easy. She'd given herself to Alan, sure he loved her as much as she loved him, but she'd been mistaken.
And it hurt.
Like nothing had ever hurt her in her life. She sat on the ice-cold bench and silently cry.
Alan paced across his office, never allowing his eyes to stray from the mobile phone lying on the table. Jasmine ran away thinly dressed in this kind of weather with no money on hand. Taylor and Lindt were now looking for her. Benedict Cumberbatch helped him in ushering the guests outside, the earlier commotion resulted for an abrupt ending of the party.
Alan made sure to hail a taxi for Meredith, wanting her out of his house which cause another set of drama, she was calmed down by my sister Sheila and David. Benedict came in, looking exhausted but still exudes an air of freshness, handing him a glass of wine the latter asks, "Any news?"
Alan shakes his head, looking glum. The younger actor lightly pats his shoulder in a comforting manner.
"I was about to ask her hand in marriage if we were given a chance to be alone for tonight. But I guess things didn't go according to plan." Alan Rickman frustratedly combs his fingers to his hair, "why does life makes love look hard?"
"Well... what you and Jassy have will surely spark a wave of entertainment gossip. Not to mention your age gap."
Alan scoofs, "David lectured me of being a cradle-robber. He also called Jassy a gold-digger."
"Bullocks!"
Alan smiled, knowing Benedict is on their side.
"You can handle the media well-enough but how about Jassy?"
"I'll protect her. I swear on the remaining years of my life."
Benedict gave him a toothy grin, "you do love her."
"With all my heart and soul."
Jasmine forgot how long she wept and was genuinely surprised when her tears didn't turned into tiny icicles dangling on her eyes. And when she heard the clock chimes twelve, she never felt so alone at this very moment. She began feeling cold and dizzy but an unexpected warmth engulfed her entire being. Looking up she saw a man dressed up as Santa Claus. As Santa finished wrapping her to warm clothes, he greeted her with his signature phrase.
"Ho ho ho. Merry Christmas!"
If you think that it's impossible for a person to laugh and cry at the same time, we are all proven wrong as Jasmine exactly did those. Santa then sat by her side and began patting her quivering shoulders, eventually rewarding her with a hug, calming her nerves.
Jasmine didn't care if snot comes out of her nose. But she was grateful to know that she made it to Santas's nice list.
Santa later on, even gave her his hat. Her nose became reddish in color from crying and her tear-stained face wasn't looking attractive at all.
"Care for a cup of hot chocolate at my factory?" Santa began removing his wig and fake-beard, the man behind the Santa get-up has a really great masculine tone with a strong gentleness about. It also has impish notes sprinkled in, that keeps you guessing. When his disguise was removed, Jasmine looked at the man in awe. He had the most expressive blue green eyes she had ever seen.
"I'm not Santa but you can call me Tom."
Thomas William Hiddleston offered his hand to her for a handshake but all Jasmine could ever respond was an unlady like sneeze that droplets of fluid from her sneeze made its way to Tom's hand. He laughs as he said, "Bless you." A charming smile adorning his handsome face.
And with that, another embarrassment was added to Jasmine's vault of shame.
What is up with her and the British actors?!
