Chapter 27- Prove my Innocence
22:46, 26 October 2020(Another long chapter because I cannot be satisfied with short ones)
I exchanged a quick glance with Byakuya as he looked rather curious and serious about all this and I was just overall nervous. I gripped hold of my necklace around my neck before we quickly followed Sakura.
Me and Byakuya followed Sakura quickly you the stairs to the third floor as she led us down the hallway.
I found myself building up with fear for what I was about to see. I saw Taka's body already but to think that Hifumi was dead as well and his body was laying somewhere in the school, it sickened me even more.
Not only that but Celeste suspected me the most then everyone else to have committed this murder. And in order to prove my innocence I would have no choice but to look down at their dead bodies and go to another class trial. The one thing I didn't want to go to. But I didn't have any choice, did I?
Because we can't just forgive death!
I quickened my pace to follow Sakura as she walked into the art room on the third floor and I looked confused as she led me and Byakuya into the storage room near the back of the room.
And as the door opened, I stopped walking completely and stood at the doorframe as I peered inside at the sight before me.
My face turned pale and a sudden feeling of dread and anxiety rushed through me as I looked down at the ground in the room and saw none other than not only Taka's body, but Hifumi's as well.
Taka looked exactly like the way I last saw him as he laid on his stomach with his hair stained in the pink color of his blood. And then Hifumi's large body laid on the ground as well laying on his back instead of his stomach with blood dripping down his face.
I covered my mouth with my hands from the sight and felt a little uneasy from it. I thought I would be used to seeing dead bodies from all the people I already saw dead but it just made me so sick to see my classmates suddenly die.
Everyone else was already inside the room as me, Byakuya, and Sakura entered to join the group. Sho joined us a few moments after as she came running in and looked down at the bodies on the floor.
"It's so awful! Who would do this?" Aoi asked as she started sobbing dramatically and her tears fell onto the floor below her.
I felt myself feel bad for Aoi as she started sobbing rather loudly from the sight before us. It wasn't like the other times when Aoi didn't sob as loudly as she did now and awfully large tears kept rolling down her face.
Aoi seemed to be even more emotional over their deaths then I was. Well, I didn't really take the time to get to know those two so I couldn't feel as guilty as when Chihiro and Sayaka died, but I still felt bad.
After all, they were innocent and they still died because of someone's selfish thoughts here. I just couldn't believe yet another one of us stooped to the levels of homicide.
Aoi then kept sobbing loudly as she then moved over to Hifumi's body laying on the ground. I looked at her confused, wondering what she was going to do as she then went down on her knees near Hifumi's head.
She then took Hifumi's round head and laid it on her lap. Aoi looked down at Hifumi's body with tears falling down her face and soaking it while her eyes were rather puffy as well from the amount of tears that kept falling down her face.
"They were... They were innocent!" Aoi sobbed as she looked down at Hifumi's head.
It's true. They were innocent and now someone killed both of them and not only that it was someone in our group. I couldn't believe it. But I had to face the hard truth for a third time that one of us wanted to get out of here and decided to kill our classmates to accomplish that.
Aoi continued to sob as she looked down at Hifumi's head and the rest of us just stayed silent because I didn't know what to say. I wanted to go to her side and try calming her down but I didn't want to go near Hifumi's body then I had to. So I just stood next to Byakuya as he seemed to stay silent as well and looked annoyed at Aoi laying on the ground.
As her tears fell, you would probably expect something magical to happen like in all those movies and books. Like Hifumi would open his eyes again and actually be alive but this was a harsh reality. Not some fictional story. The despair that filled the air and found its way into every single one of us was real and we couldn't turn our back away from it.
But... I guess the unbelievable does happen because I watched as a tear traveled down Aoi's cheek and off her face and leaving behind a wet trail of salty water to stain her cheek. It fell off Aoi's cheek and then fell onto Hifumi's face.
The tear laid on Hifumi's cheek as I saw the unimaginable happen. I heard a sudden moaning sound come from Hifumi's body and I looked shocked to see Hifumi weakly open his eyes and looked blankly up at the ceiling.
I gasped softly and put a hand over my mouth to try and hide my shock from the sight before me. I couldn't believe it. My eyes widened in shock as Hifumi kept moaning softly and his eyes were barely open.
He was alive?! He was actually still alive?!
Aoi seemed shocked by the sight as well as her eyes widened and she looked down at Hifumi's head laying down in her lap. Everyone else seemed shocked as well as almost everyone gasped and widened their eyes in shock from the sight.
How could Hifumi still be alive?! He had to be dead, right? That's what everyone's been saying! How was it that he could be alive so suddenly!?
"He's alive?!" I blurted out in shock.
"Hang in there! We'll get some help!" Aoi said in a soothing voice to Hifumi as he moved his weak gaze to Aoi's body above him.
"Who... are you...?" Hifumi asked weakly. "Oh, yeah... Right... We all... go way back, don't we...? Been friends forever..."
I looked at Hifumi confused as he finished his sentence weakly. Friends... forever?! Go way back...? We barely even met each other two weeks ago, what the hell was he saying?! It wasn't anything useful he was saying as blood kept dripping from his head and I realized he wasn't going to live for much longer. Not from a head wound like that...
"His poor brain's been scrambled by the head trauma," Byakuya said and I had to agree with him on that.
Hifumi had to be just going through a bunch of blood loss and his brain is probably scrambled up because we were barely even here for long. He was probably just talking nonsense while he was dying.
"The light... It's beautiful... The light's spreading everywhere..." Hifumi said weakly as he stared blankly up into space again. Yep, he was definitely dying.
"Who did this to you? Tell us, please! We'll bring them to justice. Help us do that, buddy," Aoi said calmly to Hifumi below her as she still didn't stop tears from falling down her face.
I stood up straighter as I kept all my attention on Hifumi as he seemed to drifting into sleep and consciousness as he looked at Aoi. I needed to know who murdered him so I could clear my name in this crime. Just spit it out, please Hifumi...
"So... cold... I'll try to remember... It... was... Yasu... hi—ro..." Hifumi finished the sentence with his last breath as I watched him close his eyes to never open again.
He closed his eyes and I realized in that quick second that he really was now truly dead and not coming back again. Even though how many tears from Aoi that fell onto Hifumi's face, he didn't wake up anymore. He really dead now but now we knew something very important.
Hifumi said Yasuhiro with his last breath just now. So, Yasuhiro was the culprit after all then? But... It just seemed so simple that he was able to say it so easily, it was hard to believe that he actually did something like this and would be able to get away with it.
Aoi kept sobbing and holding onto Hifumi's head, as if too scared to leave him there on the ground but she had to face the fact that he was now truly dead along with the people that now had to face death in this killing game.
"Ba-ba-ba-buuuum!" Monokuma's voice then interrupted the dead silence of the art room closet as his familiar face showed up on the monitor overhead. "Double corpse alert, chickadees! Stop me if you've heard of this one: investigation, then, trial!"
Monokuma's face then disappeared and I felt myself shaking softly from those words. So, another class trial. Just what I need. Not one but two dead classmates killed because of someone here and I couldn't believe it. Who would do something like this?! I just couldn't believe it.
And to think it was Yasuhiro is unbelievable. It clears my name but still I can't face the truth anymore! That despair that started to fill me up until it started to overflow was awful. I had to face everyone again and have to turn against my classmates because of one of their acts. I couldn't trust anyone. I couldn't even trust myself anymore.
I didn't know what I could do to myself now. What I could possibly do. I couldn't trust what my mind thought because my thoughts could turn against my trust and I could end up being the next blackened if I wasn't careful. What could I possibly believe now?!
"Oh. Great. The damn bear. As if he weren't taxing enough, he has to suck all the fun out of this round," Byakuya said harshly and I didn't even want to glare at him for saying something like that.
I was tired of telling Byakuya that this wasn't a game because it wasn't like that at all because people actually were dying here and he needed to realize that death wasn't some form of entertainment. It was actual living people dying.
"Thanks for the buzz kill!" Sho said.
"I believe we'd all appreciate it if the pair of you could rein in your callousness just a smidge," Celeste said to Sho and Byakuya.
"Please," I said softly to Byakuya next to me.
"I'm in no mood to be delicate. I've wasted enough mental energy on this farce as it is," Byakuya said harshly and I rolled my eyes softly.
Jeez, sometimes Byakuya could be more dramatic then I was about everything. Such a mood killer I didn't understand how I could stand him so much that I'd fall in love with him.
"Yasuhiro... Odd final words," Sakura said as she walked towards Aoi and helped her off from off the ground as Aoi was still sobbing rather dramatically.
"No. It's quite telling; that's Hagakure's first name," Celeste said as she put her finger to her chin in a thinking position.
"B-But what if we're going about this all-" I started to say to Celeste.
"Very well, I'll sum it up. Hagakure's dons a ridiculous costume, attacks you, then kills these two, attacks Henka next before playing hide-and-seek with the dead corpses for reasons best known to himself," Byakuya interrupted me as he explained this to everyone... But something about that explanation seemed wrong. "Case closed. Let's get him."
"What about the other one? Kirigiri is still missing, right?" Sakura asked.
"No, just... don't go there!" Makoto said with a worried look on his face from that.
I wanted to trust Kyoko as much as Makoto did because she was my friend and I wanted to trust her. But there was evidence stacking against her because of her disappearance. I haven't seen her since last night so I don't know what she's been up to recently.
"I'm sorry, Naegi. But we must at least consider the possibility she was his accomplice," Sakura said in a calm voice and I couldn't believe Kyoko would ever do something like that.
She always kept herself distant from the group so it was hard to believe she actually teamed up with someone to commit a murder but I did the same thing last time but not exactly to murder so sometimes shocking things can happen.
"But, there is also someone else who could willingly be his accomplice. Look down at what is left on the crime scene floor," Celeste said as she then pointed down at something laying on the ground.
I looked at where she was pointing as I then widened my eyes from what lay against its surface. It was a book that was splattered in blood, but it wasn't just some ordinary book, but it was...
"A Shakespeare novel," Celeste said as she bent down and picked up the bloodstained book, looking down at it as her lips curved up slightly when looking down at it.
I felt myself turn pale white from the sight as I saw Makoto and Byakuya look at me and I tried to stay calm from this but I couldn't help show how worried I was. How did something like that get in here when it was in the library like where I put it last night?
"Henka, would you care to explain?" Celeste said as she looked towards me with a calm smile.
"H-Hold on a sec...!" Aoi said. "Anyone could have put that book there! Don't go pointing fingers at Haiyū!"
"I-I didn't have anything to do with that book!" I said nervously as I felt myself shaking slightly from being accused of this. "D-Do you really believe I would do something like this?!"
"Cut the innocent act! You moved the bodies, didn't you?!" Sho practically yelled at me and I turned even more paler from this.
I felt everyone's gaze meet my body as I tried to stay calm but I found myself unable to. Everyone was looking at me in looks of disbelief and suspicion and I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't do it. Even Byakuya seemed to be a little suspicious of me and I didn't know who to turn for trust anymore.
"Hold on! I won't let you accuse Henka like that without some solid evidence!" Makoto said to Celeste with a rather pissed off look.
"How much more evidence do you need, Naegi? She was absent for the disappearing bodies, we just so happened to find her inside the girl's restroom, and now there is a novel here only she reads. Is that enough evidence for you?" Celeste said as she placed the book back down onto the floor.
"I-I didn't..." I said as I couldn't find any words to say.
I couldn't really bring up what I wanted to say because I felt myself become suspected by everyone including myself. I was glad at least Makoto believed in me but everything was turned against me along with Yasuhiro, and I believed that Yasuhiro may be innocent. It just seemed too obvious it was him.
"You can point the fingers during the trial. For now, it's time we look around for clues," Byakuya said calmly as he looked away from me for a moment.
"Alright," Celeste said in a sigh as I looked back towards Taka and Hifumi's body.
Someone killed those two and I couldn't believe it was one of us. Not only that, mostly everyone believed I did it. I needed to find all the evidence I could to save my skin and avenge Taka and Hifumi because they were innocent, just like Aoi said. They didn't deserve to die and I needed to make sure the killer was brought to justice. Just like the other two times. This was no different. It was just a third time for everyone.
I had to face the truth now. Someone did this and it was time for me to investigate all the areas and find Kyoko along with Yasuhiro to see where they ran off to. The places I needed to check were here in the art's storage room, the physic lab storage room where Taka was found dead, the nurse's office where Hifumi was found dead, and the girl's bathroom to see if the killer left any clues behind.
And so I started. Everyone went their separate ways as I was left inside the arts storage room with Makoto as it was an awkward silence between us.
I didn't know what to say as I moved my gaze to the two dead bodies laying on the ground and I started to look at each of them. They both died from a head wound according to the Monokuma File, most likely from those Justice Hammers. Hifumi and then it was Taka. Since Justice Hammer Four was at Taka's crime scene. So Hifumi and then Taka... At least that's what I could conclude.
I found myself growing a little uneasy as I checked the bodies for anything unusual or strange.
I looked at the Monokuma File one last time to check to see if I missed anything and I looked down at it confused as it didn't give me the time of death. That was weird. It gave the time of death for Sayaka and Chihiro's case. Why didn't it tell me for this one? I should probably remember that.
I looked up at Makoto as he was investigating Taka's body while I was looking at Hifumi's and I found myself continuing to look at him in an awkward feeling. I felt like I needed to say something to end this silence between us as I finally found the courage to say something to him.
"Thanks."
Makoto turned towards me with a confused look on his face. "What?"
"Thanks for believing in me when Celestia accused me of being the culprit. You didn't have to but I'm glad you did," I explained to Makoto with a small smile.
"Of course. After all, I believe you're innocent," Makoto explained as he gave a small smile to me as well. "It makes no sense for you to go killing them. They are trying to put the blame on you like they did with me when it was Maizono who died."
"That seems to make the most sense," I said in a sigh as I stood up along with Makoto.
"Hey, wasn't this the book that you put back inside the library last night?" Makoto asked as he moved his gaze down to the book laying on the ground.
"Yeah, it was. I don't know how it got here though," I said as I looked down at the book as well.
Putting a book like this down would obviously point the blame towards me because no one here really read Shakespeare like I did. But how did they know to put this book down was the question.
"Fukawa was the only one who witnessed me put the book back other then you, Naegi. How did they know this book was the one to take was the question," I said as I thought about it as so many possibilities came to mind at once.
"Maybe someone else was there and we didn't know it," Makoto said. "Maybe we should talk to Fukawa about it."
"We could ask her about it later. Maybe she knows something," I said as the thought of what Toko may say was on my mind because I knew she most likely wouldn't cooperate with me. "But what's bothering me at the moment was how did the killer move the bodies all the way up here from the first floor and second floor."
"That's true. We were barely even gone for ten minutes when finding Yamada's body disappear and it seems almost impossible to move someone of Yamada's size all the way up here," Makoto said as he started to think about it. "Maybe they used something to transport the bodies?"
"It's not a bad idea," I said as I tried to think of something that would be able to move both Hifumi and Taka.
Makoto did have a point when saying Hifumi was rather large and it did seem almost impossible to move someone of his size without using something. But still, wouldn't it be a struggle to move Hifumi's body from the first floor to the third floor in only a matter of minutes? It made no sense to me but I guess I had to think about it.
"Also, you may want to clean your face off," Makoto said as he handed me a rag from off the counter holding numerous wooden hammers.
"Yeah..." I said as I took the rag and soaked it in water from a nearby sink that they probably used to clean off paint or other messes and I started to clean off my face.
Blood started to come off my face as my head started hurting so badly from cleaning it off and it was still throbbing a little. What could have hit me to have it hurt that badly?
"Did I get it all?" I asked Makoto as soon as I finished cleaning up the last of the blood on my face.
"There still a spot... Let me help you," Makoto said as he then took the rag out of my hand.
He then raised the rag and put it onto my forehead and started to wipe off a little spot of blood and I felt my head hurt again with the sudden pressure put on it.
"S-Sorry. Did that hurt?" Makoto said as he lowered the rag and looked at me with a concerned expression.
"N-No it's fine," I said as Makoto gave me a nervous smile before going back to cleaning off the rest of the blood on my head. I guess I missed a large spot then.
I then felt my eyes meet Makoto's and I smiled softly as he smiled nervously back at me as well. I felt so lucky to have a friend like Makoto who trusted me so much and we always seemed to make a good team...
"Ahem," I heard a loud cough break the silence between the two of us inside the room and I looked away from Makoto and towards the doorway to see Byakuya looking in at the two of us.
I immediately reacted by moving away from Makoto and trying to hide a rising blush showing on my face. It would've been easier if a friend walked in on the two of us but for my boyfriend to it just became awkward. But it wasn't Makoto's fault, he didn't know that me and Byakuya were dating in the first place.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Was I interrupting something?" Byakuya asked and I didn't know if he meant to sound harsh or not.
"Wh-What is it?" I asked Byakuya to try and change the topic from me and Makoto.
"I came to get you two," Byakuya answered as he crossed his arms and walked into the room. "We found Kirigiri."
"Really?!" Makoto asked as he raised his eyebrows. "Where is she?"
"She said she wanted us to all meet her at the pool, saying it was urgent," Byakuya answered calmly.
I furrowed a brow from this. Kyoko wanted to show us something...? But what could that be? Could it be something to prove her innocence because I didn't want to think that Kyoko would team up with Yasuhiro and commit this crime.
"Let's go then," Makoto said and I nodded softly from this and followed the two boys out of the arts storage room.
There was an awkward silence between the three of us as we walked down the stairs to the second floor and went our way to the pool down there.
Inside I spotted everyone else already there. Celeste, Sakura, Aoi, and Sho seemed to already be there and I moved my gaze to see the calm Kyoko there as well. She seemed completely calm and collective despite the position she been put into as a possible accomplice. But when I looked at her, I didn't see one spot of guilt in her eyes. Either she was really good at hiding it or she didn't have any part in this crime at all.
But where did she go off to suddenly if not to move the bodies around?
We three walked over to meet with the others to see what Kyoko wanted as I was curious myself. What could be important inside here?
"Well? Do you have an explanation for why you asked for us?" Byakuya asked as he crossed his arms and glared at Kyoko.
Kyoko stayed silent as she walked towards a group of lockers at the end of the long room and started to open one but stopped halfway. I found myself curious of what could be inside it.
"Out with it! This is no time to play coy! Why are we here?!" Byakuya asked Kyoko harshly again.
"Togami, you're in one of your moods. Calm down," I said to Byakuya as he turned away from me. Geez, he was acting like a little kid right now. I then turned towards Kyoko. "But why are we here?"
"This," Kyoko said as she then opened the locker fully and I looked shocked inside.
"It's Hagakure, right?" I asked shocked as I couldn't fully tell if it was Yasuhiro or not.
The reason I couldn't tell was because something was covering the guy's face so I couldn't tell if it was him or not. But it was just like the picture Celeste showed us. He was dressed in the Justice Robo costume that seemed so large and I couldn't believe he was able to even fit inside the locker in the first place.
"He is the only one who seems to be absent so it must be," Sakura said and I agreed with her on that.
"We need to help him!" Makoto said as he rushed over to the locker holding Yasuhiro.
He and Kyoko then pulled out Yasuhiro's large figure from out of the locker and onto the ground as the two seemed to be struggling to get the job done so Sakura rushed to help them out as well and they put Yasuhiro safely on the ground with the suit still on his body.
Kyoko then removed the mask hiding Yasuhiro's face and sure enough it really was him under there. His hair immediately fell out of the mask and back into its original crazy afro as he seemed to be asleep. I found that rather odd to me.
They then woke him up and Yasuhiro looked at us confused as he looked down at the suit he was wearing while looking confused as well. I had a talent of telling how people were thinking just by the look on their faces and I would call it having good intuition. He must have been confused about what was happening as Kyoko and Makoto helped him stand up straight.
"It is officially not my day," Yasuhiro moaned as he looked at all of us.
"Yamada's dying words were in reference to this one's giving name," Celeste said while glaring at Yasuhiro.
It didn't make sense to me though. It seemed too easy to assume Yasuhiro was actually the guilty person. There had to be more to it then just that. And when I looked over at Yasuhiro, I saw him struggling to get out of the suit he was in by himself as he tried shoving the pieces off and none of it was working. If he put the costume on himself, wouldn't it be easy for him to take it off as well?
"So why'd he shut himself in a locker?" Makoto asked with a confused look as I was confused about that as well. If he was the culprit, I don't think Yasuhiro's first thought would be to hide inside a locker.
Then, Yasuhiro fell to the ground from struggling to get the suit off and he tried to get up but found himself unable to as the costume's waist didn't seem to cooperate.
"Little help, please?" He asked with a pleading look in his eyes.
I sighed and rolled my eyes as I walked over to Yasuhiro's fallen body and looked at the costume to see how the hell to get this thing off. I then spotted a small hatch on the back of his costume and out of Yasuhiro's reach so I unclipped it for him.
That was weird. Yasuhiro wouldn't be able to put the costume on himself because the hatch on the back couldn't be reached by himself so he would've needed help putting it on.
"Next time choose a costume that bends at the waist. Word to wise: form equals function," Byakuya said and those words caught my attention.
While Sakura and Makoto helped Yasuhiro our of the costume, I thought about what it could all mean. A costume that didn't bend at the waist, couldn't get it on by himself... I tried to put the pieces together but I still needed to investigate the other places before reaching a conclusion.
"Someone prefers their cosplay rather form-fitting. How did you get into this?" Sakura asked as she tried lifting the cardboard chest plate over Yasuhiro's head and saw it barely even fit over his head before coming off.
"Cardinal rule of cosplay: make sure you can still go to the con!" Sho shouted.
"Hold on, you don't think I made this piece of crap?! I swear on my life it wasn't me! Some joker slipped a note under my door, told me to meet them after hours in the game room. I showed up like a moron... And bam! Lights out! Easy!" Yasuhiro said and I found myself believing what he was saying. "When I woke up, I'd been crammed into this thing."
"Could you show us the note, please?" I asked politely as Sakura and Makoto we're finally able to get the costume off of Yasuhiro.
"Yeah, no problem. Think I stuck it in my pocket..." Yasuhiro said as he then dug his hands into his pockets and then raised his eyebrows softly. "Um...?!"
"Don't tell me you lost it," I said as I felt that hope of getting closer to finding the culprit drifting away from me.
"I don't know where it went!" Yasuhiro said.
"If you want us to take your story seriously, I suggest you find it," Byakuya said.
"Oh, whatever! Stop playing with us! Just admit you're the culprit already!" Aoi said with an angered expression as she looked at Yasuhiro out of pure anger.
I sighed to myself after Aoi said that. I know that Aoi was covered with anger towards this murder and she wants to know who done this as badly as I did. But she was being blinded with avenging the two dead classmates so she goes to the most obvious suspect, which is Yasuhiro. Then me and Kyoko came next. But if she didn't get her act together, we would never find out who the killer actually was.
"Excuse me? The hell are you talking about?!" Yasuhiro said with an angered and confused look. Oh yeah, he had no clue that both Hifumi and Taka were now dead...
"This is a waste of time," Byakuya said in a sigh before moving towards the doorway. "Henka, come on."
I raised my eyebrows as I was overall confused by this and why Byakuya wanted me to come with him but I didn't really want to question it.
"Okay..."
I followed Byakuya out of the room and into the hallway as Byakuya kept his gaze ahead and I found myself even more curious now that Byakuya wouldn't say anything.
"So... where are we going?" I asked in the awkward silence as we started walking upstairs to the third floor.
"There's still places we need to check to prove how you're innocent. First, I would like to check the girl's bathroom," Byakuya explained as he started walking down the hallway and towards the bathroom where I was found knocked out inside.
"Hold on. Maybe I should check alone..." I said as Byakuya started to reach for the doorknob.
"Why?"
"W-Well... because you're a guy and it's a girl's restroom..."
"That doesn't matter right now," Byakuya said in a sigh as he opened the bathroom door and walked inside the restroom with me shortly following in.
"What's with the attitude. You seem more like an asshole then usual," I said as I started to look in the stall where I puked and found it clean.
"Well, the events that just occurred are making me apprehensive. Especially since everyone is turning against you," Byakuya said as he looked down at a spot of blood on the floor I was guessing was where I passed out at. "Hagakure committed this and we need evidence to prove it."
"Are we sure he did it though?" I asked as Byakuya looked over at me.
"Yamada said it clear as day. Hagakure is our culprit. He was found wearing the odd suit as well. Do you need more evidence?" Byakuya asked.
"A likely suspect but sometimes it turns out what you least expect," I explained to Byakuya as I remembered the two other blackened. "I think he's innocent and I'm going to believe what he says."
"Then shall we check his room?" Byakuya asked and I looked at him as I raised my eyebrows. "To prove if he's innocent or not, all we have to do is look inside his room."
"But isn't that a breach of privacy?" I asked as I thought of how uncomfortable it would be to check someone's room without their permission.
"It's an investigation. Anything goes," Byakuya said in a sigh. "Come on, I'm more focused on proving you innocent then Hagakure at the moment."
I sighed deeply and just followed Byakuya out of the bathroom and down to the first floor and straight into Yasuhiro's bedroom. I stepped into the unlocked room with Byakuya and immediately noticed something at the center.
I walked towards the center of the room and saw a cardboard box standing out in the room and I looked inside to find blueprints of some sorts. I took them out and looked to see very bad handwriting on the paper and also showing a outline of a suit. The very suit Yasuhiro was wearing.
I sighed deeply and turned towards Byakuya as he smirked softly back at me. These blueprints were evidence that could easily prove Yasuhiro was guilty. With this suit design and finding it in his room.
"Didn't I tell you that Hagakure is in fact guilty," He said.
"But it just doesn't make any sense," I said softly as I remembered the hatch on the back of his costume and how he couldn't take it off by himself and also that it didn't bend to the waist.
"You can explain your reasoning at the class trial. We need to check the physics lab storage room and the nurse's office quickly before the trial," Byakuya said as he started walking towards the door. "We shouldn't waste our time in here."
I nodded quickly and followed Byakuya out of the room and into the hallway.
We walked down the hall to the nurse's office and inside to look around. Me and Byakuya gazed around the place in silence as I looked down at the spot of blood laying on the ground.
If I'm correct, that was where Hifumi's body was before moved by the killer. But the thing was, how did the killer get Hifumi's large body up two flights of stairs in only a matter of five minutes? It seemed almost like an impossible task but they still were able to do it.
I then looked across the tile ground and then saw something stand out against it and next to the foot of the nearest trash can. I walked over to it and bent down to pick it up.
It was an empty plastic bag. It was a roundish shape and it looked like it was made to fit something inside it. The plastic was rather smooth and I couldn't exactly guess what could be inside before emptied.
"What is it?" Byakuya asked as he walked over to me. "Why are you wasting time looking at a plastic bag?"
"It interested me because what if this has something to do with the case," I said as I showed it to Byakuya and he looked down at it.
"You have a shape eye," He said in a sigh as he then walked towards a cabinet on the nearby counter and opened it up.
I walked over to his side to see what he was looking at and I noticed that it held various packs of blood stacked on each other. I knew it was for very serious accidents I didn't think would happen any time soon so I thought they would be useless for stuff like that... but for something else it may be useful...
"That's interesting. The plastic bag matches up with these blood packets," Byakuya said as he took the plastic bag from my hand and held it to one of the blood packets. The resemblance between the two was uncanny. "And there are less blood packets in here then the last time I checked."
"You checked?!" I asked, a little shocked as Byakuya closed the cabinet.
"I thought it was essential to check every possible thing that could be used for future events. Such as these blood packets. And it's interesting for there to be an empty packet when no one had any means to use it," Byakuya explained.
"Maybe there's more in the trash can," I said as I walked over to the trash can and peered inside to find it only filled with paper, tissues, and normal trash but something else that laid on top of it all.
I stuck my hand into the bin and took it back out with something sitting on the palm of my hand. It was a napkin that was a bright pink and had some sort of anime girl printed onto it. It sparked my attention because I could only think of one possible person who would use something like this.
"Was this Yamada's?" I said my thoughts out loud as Byakuya seemed to notice my sudden outburst and walked towards me with a furrowed brow.
"Of course, someone like him would use such a... unique design for cleaning his glasses," Byakuya said and I guess I was right when saying it was Hifumi's. Well, it sort of made sense to say it was Hifumi's with the design.
"And I suppose you never would use something like this?" I asked Byakuya.
"I would never use something as pathetic as that," Byakuya said with a disgusted look on his face.
"And you, Sho?" I asked loudly to carry my voice into the hallway because I knew who was there.
"Like I would use something like that, blondie!" Sho answered from out in the hallway and I turned back towards the napkin in my hand.
So, Hifumi's napkin for cleaning his glasses were in here, but why was that? The only time I ever thought he was in here was when he was attacked by Robo Justice. Why would his napkin be in here when it would be useless to get rid of by the killer? Maybe I could try working it out one way or the other.
I laid the napkin back down where I found it inside the bin and turned back towards Byakuya.
"I think that's all there is in here. We should check the physics lab next and I needed to ask someone a question," I said as I tried not to say outright who I needed to ask because I knew the certain someone was listening into our conversation.
I needed to ask Toko about yesterday in the library. It may be essential to know if anyone else was in there around the same time me and Makoto were in there as well in case someone saw me carrying that book around and putting it back into the library. And the only person who would know something like that was Toko. But she was Sho right now. She wouldn't listen to me if I asked her to turn back to Toko... but she may listen to someone else...
"I need you to do me a little favor," I said in a soft voice so Sho wouldn't overhear. "I need you to ask Sho to transform back into Fukawa."
"Why?" Byakuya asked confused.
"I need to ask her something. It may be the key to solving whoever is behind this," I answered as Byakuya didn't seem very convinced. "If you really want to help me prove my innocence, you would do this."
I watched as Byakuya moaned softly and rolled his eyes. He clearly wasn't liking the idea of talking to Sho but I needed this information more then anything else at the moment.
But then, my thoughts were interrupted by something suddenly coming towards me and I looked shocked to see a blur of something silver come pass only a few inches away from my face and stick itself into the wall behind me. I yelped softly from this as I jumped back in shock and looked to see what nearly launched itself into my face and saw a pair of metal scissors stuck on the wall behind me and my mouth hung open in a small gap.
My heart skipped a beat for a second there. I really thought I was going to get impaled by those scissors and I felt myself unable to get out of my frightened state.
"Fukawa!" Byakuya said harshly to Sho in the hallway as he noticed the scissors in the wall.
"Oops, my hand slipped," Sho said and I was unconvinced by those words.
She tried to kill me. Right there and then. Was it because I was too close to Byakuya or did she just want to kill someone for fun? If anything she would probably kill Makoto then since he was technically a cute boy... but still! I could've died right there...! That seemed to be stuck in my mind as I looked at the scissors stuck in the wall.
"C-Could you just ask her about i-it?" I asked nervously as I tried not to get too shocked from what just happened.
Byakuya gave me one quick look of concern before turning towards the hall in a sigh. He crossed his arms and looked down at the ground and said, "We need to speak to Fukawa now!"
"Fine Prince Charming because you asked SO politely," Sho said and I didn't know if she was being sarcastic.
Sho then sneezed loudly and then turned into Toko as she became a psycho to a nervous bookworm in less then a second. She gazed around confused for a second and her eyed then landed on Byakuya, who seemed to be avoiding eye contact with her. Toko just started blushing like crazy and stood in the doorframe in the hall with a dreamy look on her face.
"Um, Fukawa... I needed to ask you something," I said to try and disrupt the now awkward silence.
Toko seemed startled by this and turned towards me with a now disgusted look plastered on her face. She clearly didn't like that I disrupted whatever was going on through her head.
"Wh-What do you want?" She asked harshly.
"When you were in the library yesterday, was anyone else besides me there?" I asked her.
"Wh-Why would you want to know th-that?! Y-You don't need to know what happens in m-my life!" Toko said with a disgusted look on her face and I sighed deeply in annoyance.
I just needed Toko to cooperate just this once because it would really help me out. This could be the one lead I could get to find out who else saw me with the Shakespeare novel besides Makoto and her.
"Answer the question," Byakuya said.
"Ah! W-Well the pig Yamada c-came in after you left..." Toko answered as she looked down at the ground.
"Did anyone else come in?" I asked.
"H-How should I-I know?! I-I left right after that pig came in," Toko answered with an angered glare.
Well, that didn't seem much help after all. Hifumi came in after me and Makoto left and now he was dead so he couldn't have committed the murder. It was technically pointless to ask Toko about this because nothing interesting came out of it. Now we were back to square one with no leads.
I then looked to see Toko sneeze yet again and the nervous stutter bookworm was gone and was replaced by the daily psychotic killer as her tongue stuck out of her mouth and she looked at the two of us.
"The cuter one is back!" She said happily.
"Well, why did you want to ask Fukawa that?" Byakuya asked as he turned towards me.
"Because I saw Fukawa in the library yesterday when I was putting that exact book away that we found in the art's storage room. I was wondering if someone else saw me put the book back and found out it would be the perfect thing to pin the blame on me," I explained to Byakuya.
"But I suspect that didn't help," Byakuya said in a sigh. "Only Yamada may have noticed you in there and we know he is deceased now. It couldn't have been him. That was a rather pointless question to ask."
"Yeah, I know that now. But I just wanted to check," I explained as I found myself become sad that I barely had any evidence to prove my innocence.
Ding dong, bing bong.
I turned my attention to the monitor on the wall as the chime broke out and I saw Monokuma's familiar face appear.
"You make me bored and I start the trial! That's how it works! So you know the deal ladies and gentlemen. Please make your way to the trial grounds this instant and I'll see you there!"
The screen then turned off and I turned to Byakuya with a nervous glance.
This was it. The third class trial was about to start and the moment I have to prove my innocence in this crime.
Now, let the debating commence.
