...Twelve

13:46, 3 January 2016

"Get up you lazy-" Cara bursted into the room. "Wow, didn't know you guys were all.. wolfy like that." She said, laughing at her own comment.

"Good morning, what time is it?" I heard Taylor ask but Cara just smiled at her and said: "I don't understand this wolf language okay? Get your furry asses out of my bed and come hunt with me."

The door closed with a loud bang. The blonde girl next to me stretched out her limbs and yawned loudly.

"Morning." She said, nudging my cheek with hers.

"Morning." I said with a faint growl, jumping off the bed and stretching myself out.

"Ready to hunt?" Taylor asked, jumping onto the ground herself too now and stretching her legs one by one.

"Still vegetarian." I said stubbornly.

Taylor laughed loudly. "You wont be after this." And with that she somehow opened the bedroom door and ran out of the room.

"Hey wait!" I shouted while running after the beautiful, white creature.

"Cara! Hey Cara guess what?!" Taylor growled. "Karlie here, is a vegetarian." Then she laughed again.

"Okay you, I don't know what you just said, but it did sound funny with those weird sounds you made." Cara said, smiling at the both of us.

"Shut up." Taylor growled, nudging Cara out of the doorway with her head and walking out of the den. I stepped outside too and immediately felt the cold winter air hitting me. I didn't know what time it was but it was already completely light outside and a thin layer of ice was covering the ground. No snow had fallen yet, but thick grey clouds were floating in our direction from the distance.

"Looks like its going to snow later. Lets make this a quick hunt." Cara said to us and a second later she took off and was floating high in the air. I looked up at her in surprise, not knowing she could fly at all. When I looked down again to were Taylor was standing, I noticed that the white wolf had already taken off and was running into the woods, fast.

"Wait for me!" I shouted, not wanting to get left behind in this unknown surrounding. I hadn't seen this forrest in daylight yet and I had to say; It looked beautiful. The sunlight made its way through icy branches from trees that reached higher than I could even look. The thin layer of ice on the ground made it a bit slippy but because of my sharp nails, I could easily make all the left's and right's Taylor was making far ahead of me.

"I spotted something guys! One mile to the south!" I heard Cara shout from above. Taylor let out a sound I hadn't heard before yet; a howl. She looked over her shoulder then, presumibly to check if I was still there. Her blue, shiny eyes looked happy and before I could study her face more, she turned her head away again and sped off into the forest.

"Half a mile!" Cara shouted from above. "Its a big one!"

"Tay?!" I shouted.

She looked over her shoulder again.

"What exactly are we hunting for?!" I asked, already disgusted by killing an innocent, living creature.

"I think Cara saw a deer!" She shouted back at me.

"A few meters still!" I heard Cara shout. I looked up at her once again while still keeping a quick pace on the slippy ground. Suddenly Cara dived down towards the ground and I heard a loud thud.

"Oh my god, is she okay!?" I asked, my mind already in panic mode.

All I heard was a laugh from Taylor and a shriek from presumably the now dead animal. Taylor came to a full stop out of nowhere and I had to brake quickly too. There was indeed a big deer laying on the icy ground in a pool of its own blood. Dead.

"Enjoy the meal fella's." Cara said, a few drips of blood making their way down her lips and then her chin. I felt my body shake in disgust and looked away from her.

"You don't have to eat it if you don't want to." Taylor said, probably reading my thoughts.

"Thanks." I said, turning away from the dead animal on the ground.

"Not hungry?" Cara asked. I decided to just shake my head 'no' and walked away from the both of them.

How am I ever going to be a wolf if I cant even eat meat?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A while later we were back at Cara's den. It was around 12pm and we were sitting at the table in the living room. Well, Cara and I were. I was my human self again but Taylor told me she 'needed to do something' and went outside again.

"What do you think Taylor is doing?" I ask Cara, who is drinking yet another bottle of the disgusting red substance.

"Don't know." She replied, shrugging her shoulders. "Why didn't you eat?"

"Oh, I'm.." I started, already regretting having this conversation with a god damn vampire. "I.. uhmm I'm a vegetarian."

Cara's mouth hung open in surprise and her dark eyebrows were raised so high that they almost reached her hairline.

"Yup." I said awkwardly. "Vegetarian wolf. Ha ha ha."

"You are joking right?" Cara asked, a small smile now appearing on her surprised face. The door opened then, revealing a white wolf carrying something you wouldn't expect a wolf to carry. In her mouth, she had some carrots, a bunch of mushrooms and one tomato. Don't ask me how, but she did.

A loud growl and a white flash filled the air and then there she was, Taylor in her pajama shorts and a white oversized shirt carrying vegetables in her hands and a single carrot in her mouth.

I smiled widely at her. "You did not.." I said, my mouth hanging open.

"Ew." Cara said. "So fucking cheesy."

"Figured you were hungry." Taylor said, ignoring the vampire's comment and smiling at me. "I know its kind of a weird combination but its all I could find, its winter after all." Her cheeks were turning pink as she laid the vegetables on the wooden table.

"Thats so sweet of you!" I said, getting up from my seat and running over to her to hug her. "Youre so cute sometimes."

"I have my moments." Taylor giggled.

"Ew." I heard Cara say again.

"You're just jealous." I heard Taylor say to her while enveloping me in a tight hug. I let go of her, my belly rambling with hunger. I took the vegetables to the sink and washed them all off.

"Well enjoy.. that." I heard Cara say when I sat down at the table again, the food in front of me on a plate.

"Thanks." I said, happily taking a bite from one of the three carrots. I hummed in contentment and shot Taylor a smile.

"A vegetarian one Taylor? Really?" Cara said to the blonde as she also sat down at the table.

"But isn't she freaking cute?" Taylor said, smiling at me. I was hungrily eating the other carrots now. Cara shrugged her shoulders but smiled at us.

"Where did you find all this?" I asked Taylor, who was still observing me.

"There's this old farmer living close by. Cara and I used to scare him when I would sleep here back in the days." She explained.

"Oh my god, you went to Mr Rubsy's farm?" Cara laughed. "I thought the old man had already died like ages ago. Okay not really ages but.. you know what I mean."

"Well he just shouted at me and I heard him scream 'that goddamned white dog!' when he got his riffle out his shed." Taylor said with a big, proud smile on her face. "He almost hit me, that old man."

Cara and Taylor both laughed and I just looked at them with a weird look on my face.

"What?" Taylor asked, smiling at me.

"Nothing, you.. mythical creatures are just.. special." I said, making the both of them laugh again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So when are we leaving?" Cara asked, getting up from her chair and crossing her hands over her chest.

"What time is it?" I asked the vampire girl, she looked at her watch then.

"1.30pm." She replied, getting something out of a closet close to the fireplace.

"I suggest we go now, then we don't have to spend the night in the forrest." Taylor said, also getting up from the chair.

"Okay." I said, the last one to get up from the table. Taylor got our coats and put the hoods on our heads. Her curly, blonde hair was sticking out from underneath the hood. I loved her hair. Cara was still digging trough the closet in the meantime.

"This is going to be dangerous." Taylor said, taking my hands and looking deeply into my eyes. "Are you sure you don't wanna stay here?"

I took a deep breath.

"Yes I'm sure." I said. She kissed my lips shortly then.

"I know it sounds fucking cheesy but.. you're all I have and I love you with all my heart. I just don't want to loose you." She said, a single tear making its way down her cheek. I shivered at her words and looked into her eyes. Her blue orbs looked scared. Scared and sad.

"We can do this. We will be okay." I said, stroking her cheek. "And I love you too." I smiled. A small smile crept onto her face too now and some of the happiness that was hidden deep inside her body, shined trough in that moment. These were the kind of moments that are so special to me.

A sound of slow clapping filled the silent room then. It was (of course) Cara who was watching our exchange. "Can the two love birds hurry up a bit now." She said with a grin on her face. She had put a black cloak on.

"Whats the mysterious cloak for?" I asked, cocking an eyebrow at her.

"Shut up. Its an anti scent cloak okay, I let the wizard make it after.. last time." Cara replied, her eyebrows furrowed.

"Oh.. Sorry.." I mumbled.

"Its okay Cara. Ive never blamed you. It wasn't your fault." Taylor said, stepping closer to the vampire. Cara looked away however, seemingly not able to look at Taylor.

"Come here." Taylor cooed, pulling the girl closer to her and hugging her. Cara let out a sob then, something I didn't expect to happen at all.

"Im so sorry Taylor. I.." Cara sobs. Taylor took the vampire's face in her hands then, looking her deeply in the eyes.

"Hey, hey listen, shhh its okay. Its not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong you hear me. You did everything you could." She said softly. "Its okay." Cara angrily wipes her tears away and steps away from Taylor.

"She is dead Taylor. She is dead because of me!" Cara shouted angrily, mostly at herself. Her long, sharp fangs were showing and her eyes turned pitch black. It was one of the most sad and terrifying things I had ever seen, all at the same time.

"Its not your fault!" Taylor shouted back at the girl, quite upset herself. "We didn't know that my father could smell you. Who the fuck even thinks of that?!"

"Well we should have thought of that!" Cara said, ripping the cloak off her shoulders and throwing it on the ground. "Whatever, go without me. Im only trouble anyway." She said, walking out of the living room and into the bedroom that we used the night earlier.

"Shit." I heard Taylor mumble to herself. She sat down on the chair angrily and put her head in her hands.

"Taylor?" I asked, my voice uncertain. But I had to know what had happened.

"One and a half years ago." Taylor started, already knowing what I was going to ask. She took a deep breath. "One and a half years ago, we took this same trip together with Selena, Diana, Cara and me." She looked up at me then, her eyes watering. I sat down too took her hand in mine.

"We reached the cave with the same 'plan' as now, to take my father's crown. But my father was alarmed by Cara's smell and captured her and Diana." She looked down at her own hands, tears dripping down on the floor. "She was able to escape with our help, and Dianna.. I.."

"Its okay if you don't want to tell m-"

"I swear she was right behind us.. I was running next to Sel, both in our wolf forms. We had just freed both Cara and Diana and our plan was to make our way back to Cara's den, since that is in vampire territory and wolfs usually don't cross those lines. And we were almost there, we were already at the valley.." She wiped a few tears away and looked at me. "Selena and I were running fast, a bit faster than the others and when we looked back, Cara had fallen onto the ground. Diana was trying to help her but Adam was right behind her.."

"Oh no.." I whispered in utter shock.

"Adam.. it was Adam who.. who killed her." She whispered taking a deep breath after and sitting up straight. "We were able to drag Cara away from the whole attack.. for Diana it was already.. too late.."

I got up, walked over to Taylor and enveloped her in the tightest hug ever.

She must have been so sad. So alone.

"I was yeah." She said, reading my thoughts. "I had Sel and Cara though. Even though I couldn't see them that much. Still cant. Its too dangerous."

"Why me?" I asked.

"Why what?" She asked me, her face confused.

"Why did you decide to talk to me at my work?" I asked, totally random but somehow important for me.

"Don't know." She said, shrugging her shoulders. I looked into her sad yet shining eyes. "I just felt this.. connection between us.. I don't know.. its weird." She explained softly.

"Well, same here." I smiled at her. "From the second I saw you walking into the restaurant I knew you were somehow going to play some kinda role in my boring life." A small smile appeared of both of our faces.

"You're so special." She said, smiling at me and stroking my cheek with her thumb. "I just hope we will be okay." Her smile changed back into a frown.

"Im sure we will. I love you too much to let you go." I said, smiling at her. "Gosh, I know you for like a month or something but.. I'm so in love with you. Its amazing." The frown turned into a smile again, a big one. "Now go talk to Cara, she seemed pretty upset."

Taylor nodded again and walked out of the living room and into the bedroom.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both Cara and Taylor walked out of the bedroom with small smiles on their faces.

"Sorry for my explosion there." Cara said while walking towards me. "Ive never seen someone look as terrified at me as you did." She smiled. To my surprise she hugged me then, I just stood there like an idiot terrified that the girl would bite me.

"Chill, she wont bite." Taylor laughed, watching us.

"Only if you're naughty." Cara whispered then, loud enough for Taylor to hear it too however who almost choked from laughing so loud. Cara let go of me and smirked at me then.

"Stop flirting with her Delevingne. She's mine." Taylor said, playfully smacking Cara's arm and laughing together with her. I laughed along with them, feeling my face turn bright red too at the same time.

Cara put her cloak on again and opened the front door. "Now lets go. We have wasted enough time with all that emotional stuff. Lets go." She said, pulling the cloak's hood over her head and walking into the cold winter air.

Taylor took my hand in hers and gave it a little squeeze. It was 'our thing'. She led me out of the front door and outside we were greeted by a thick layer of snow laying on the ground. Taylor and I were wearing our black coats which were warm, but not warm enough for this winter storm.

"Come on love birds. We've got a crown to steal." Cara said, taking the lead as she started to walk ahead of us.

"Isn't she cold?" I asked Taylor who smiled at me then.

"Shes never really cold. Vampire's love snow and ice." She replied easily, our hands still linked.

"Why the hell do werewolfs feel cold then? Ive chosen the wrong mythical creature to fall in love with." I said jokingly. Taylor giggled and started running after Cara then, who was already far ahead of us. She didn't let go of my hand however so I was forced to run together with her.

"Well, you better stick with me." She smiled as I felt my legs already becoming tired.

This is going to be a long trip..

I heard Taylor giggle ahead of me.

"Oh shut up." I laughed, our troubles still a while ahead of us.
