Kisvar Character Analysis
06:21, 13 May 2016I forgot I did this xD I was feeling nostalgic and looking through old book ideas, and I found this character analysis that I did forever ago for Kisvar. It was somewhat out-of-date, so I added some things and fixed some things, but this was my basis for writing Kisvar. Most of it you all probably know, but I know that Kisvar's climb to fortune and fame wasn't really ever mentioned except in passing. Most of it is pretty aligned with the actual quests in the game, and I'm leaving out some details that I plan to make clear in the crossover. Also, someone asked what Kisvar looked like and I forgot to reply, so hopefully this will somewhat answer that question, although I've never been good at describing the images I see in my head. Also also, Kisvar doesn't have a last name. I never thought of one xD

Other
Character History: Kisvar was born to a farming family outside Windhelm. He had no siblings, and his parents died when he was 14. He left Windhelm and spent most of his teenage years in Whiterun doing odd jobs and stealing when he couldn't find work. He quickly discovered that mercenary work was more lucrative than running delivery jobs, so he acquired a sword from Eorlund Gray-Mane and used the experience he had gotten from sparring with his father's friend in the Windhelm Guard and managed to successfully retrieve a lost item from a cave near Whiterun.
Kisvar had a natural talent for dual swords and soon became somewhat known, at least around Whiterun, by age 23. The Companions even offered him a place amongst them at one point, but Kisvar refused, uninterested in their obsession with honor and preferring to continue going it alone as a mercenary. Sometime during his years adventuring, Kisvar picked up Destruction magic to use as a ranged weapon. On a job that was supposed to take him near the border of Skyrim, Kisvar was captured by Imperials and sentenced to death, but Alduin intervened before the execution in Helgen could be carried out. Incensed by the Imperials unjust treatment of him, Kisvar escaped the city with Ralof, someone who would become a fast friend and ally during the Civil War.
Kisvar took Ralof's advice and picked up on his revolutionary attitude, ditching his mercenary work and travelling to Windhelm to join the Stormcloaks. There, he met Ulfric Stormcloak, a man who would continue to be an inspiration to Kisvar for years to come. Travelling through Whiterun on the way to rendezvous with a group of soldiers preparing to take an Imperial fort, Whiterun's watch tower was attacked by a dragon. Kisvar helped the soldiers to defeat it and discovered, quite by accident, that he was Dragonborn.
Kisvar spent the next three years juggling his responsibilities as both the Dragonborn and a Stormcloak captain. By the end of those two years, the Civil War had finally been won for the Stormcloaks, so Kisvar could focus on defeating Alduin. Through a complicated series of events he managed the nearly impossible task and stopped the World Eater once and for all.
Cleaning up the remaining Imperial camps wasn't enough, so Kisvar picked mercenary work back up. On a break between jobs in Riften, a man named Brynjolf approached him with a proposition. Kisvar accepted, and thus his indoctrination into the Thieves' Guild began. Shortly after he joined the Guild, it was revealed that Mercer was betraying them all and had been for years. Brynjolf, Karliah, and Kisvar returned the Nightingales to the trio they were meant to be, hunted down Mercer, and returned the Skeleton Key to Nocturnal, ending the Theives' Guild's run of bad luck. The Guild operated for nearly a year and a half without a Guildmaster, then the Guild offered the position to Kisvar. He accepted and became the Guildmaster at age 27.
Kisvar spent the next four years solidifying his title as Guildmaster, hunting Imperials, and continuing mercenary work in his spare time. A month after his 32nd birthday, Kisvar was approached by two strange men that seemed to think he was a "False Dragonborn". After killing them, he discovered they had come from Solstheim, a little island off the coast of Skyrim, so he went to investigate. As it turned out, Miraak, an ancient Dragonborn from the First Era who had survived by remaining Hermaeus Mora's servant in Apocrypha, was trying to return to the world. He managed it, and Kisvar spent the next several months trying to rectify his mistake and hunt Miraak down. He succeeded in slaying the First Dragonborn, but at the cost of his own freedom and was trapped in Apocrypha by Hermaeus Mora during the Third Battle for Whiterun.
Family: Kisvar's parents dies when he was 14, and he had no other siblings. Significant Other(s): None Personality: A true Nord, Kisvar loves a good fight. Even so, he can be compassionate and hates letting people down. Loyalty is very important to him, and Mercer's betrayal of the Thieves' Guild left a lasting impression on him. Kisvar has a deep hatred of repetition, especially of words, making couriers one of his least favorite things in the world of Skyrim. Kisvar enjoys fame and likes hearing songs of the Dragonborn sung in inns across Skyrim, but hates when people use a title when speaking to his face. Kisvar is an unorthodox but natural leader, although he often doubts his decisions and ability to lead effectively. He hates to lose and blames himself for anything catastrophic that happens around him, whether it's actually his fault or not. Likes: Fighting, travelling Dislikes: Couriers, lollygagging
