I was bent over the hood of Emmett's jeep, my toes barely touching the ground.
Emmett had one hand nearly denting the hood of the truck beside my head while the other was beneath me, his fingers circling my clit while he thrust into me from behind.
Emmett's loud groans were the only sound reaching my ears while his movements were sending me further and further toward the cliff. Like every time we were together, it was almost too much. My senses were over worked, my skin hyper sensitive to every little touch.
I was letting out cries of pleasure as I felt myself careening toward the edge. I just needed....
As if he read my mind, Emmett folded over me, his teeth finding that spot between my neck and shoulder as he bit down. I instantly came with a scream, Emmett's free hand quickly clamping over my mouth and silencing my loud cries of pleasure.
He quickly found his own release, pulling away from me with a satisfied groan. "Fuck, that was..."
"Amazing," I finished, his hand pulling away from my lips.
Emmett chuckled in agreement as he slowly slipped out of me, leaving me feeling hollow and empty in an instant. I pouted in disappointment, wishing we could do it again already. But my recovery wasn't that quick.
Em slowly helped me to the ground, steadying me when my legs threatened to give out on me. I giggled, holding onto his big arms to steady myself. Blood still coated his lips and I gave a small smile at the sight.
Okay, so it was weird.
But Carlisle had said it was probably not weird. Last month after Emmett and I first had sex and he bit me for the first time-- something that has become a habit now-- we went to Carlisle to have a very awkward conversation about it.
Carlisle hadn't heard anything about that sort of thing but said that since it wasn't hurting either one of us--- meaning hurting me physically or hurting Emmett's ability to not eat people-- then it was probably something totally normal.
Since most vampires had mates that were also vampires, there wasn't a lot of information on human-vampire mate pairings. So it could be normal and we just don't know. Either way both Emmett and I really enjoyed it for some reason, so we kept doing it after Emmett was thoroughly reassured that it in no way caused me pain. Which, weirdly, it didn't.
You'd think it would hurt, I mean it was a bite for heaven's sake. But in all reality, it felt good. Almost too good. I was also extremely careful to keep the bite marks covered up and hidden, though that wasn't hard since they healed at an exceptional rate.
After quickly fixing my clothing, I turned toward my boyfriend who was running a hand through his dark curls. They were slightly longer than they had been when we first met, thought Emmett insisted that it was impossible since vampires hair didn't grow. I wasn't fully convinced, though.
Emmett gave me a sweet, dimpled grin, noticing my staring. "Are you ready? Everyone else is probably waiting on us."
My smile widened as I nodded excitedly, "yup. Do you think Esme made pasta? I'd kill for some carbs right now."
I started rounding the jeep with Emmett by my side, he opened the door for me and helped me in. "I'm sure she made you a five course meal," he joked, "it is your birthday after all."
Emmett closed my door and I waited to respond until he was in the drivers seat, "technically my birthday isn't until tomorrow."
"Yeah, well, we get to celebrate you early because someone's dad still doesn't know about us," Emmett teased lightly, sending me a wink to reassure me that he didn't mean anything by it.
I rolled my lip between my teeth anyways, a wave of guilt flooding me. I hated lying to Billy and Jake but, it was necessary. They would kill me if they found out I was dating a Cullen. Even the fact that he was my mate would do nothing to dissuade their disapproval.
And since I wasn't about to cut ties with the only family I had left, having a secret relationship with Emmett Cullen was going to have to do. Thankfully Bella and Paul were being the perfect covers for me. Paul was hesitant to aid in my deception but after I practically begged him, he caved.
The drive to the Cullen's house was a quick one. Before I knew it Emmett and I's car karaoke session was coming to an end as the gorgeous house came into view. No matter how many times I'd been over now, the sight of their home made me breathless with its beauty.
We quickly got out of the car, Emmett linking our hands together as he led me through the garage into the kitchen. Instantly food and spices invaded my senses and I nearly moaned at how good it all smelled.
"Olivia!" Esme called and my attention jumped to where her and Carlisle were standing in the kitchen. She was stirring something in a pot on the stove while Carlisle tossed a green salad. "You made it. Happy birthday, dear."
I smiled widely at the woman who had been so welcoming since the moment I met her. "Thank you," Emmett and I moved closer to the island, standing near the older couple. "Whatever you're making smells amazing," I complimented, trying to eye what was in the pot.
Esme's smile brightened, "I know you said you like Italian food, so I made some spaghetti with meatballs, salad, and I have the tiramisu setting in the fridge."
My stomach growled in response and we all laughed, "that sounds amazing, I'm starving." Unlike Bella who was embarrassed with eating at the Cullen's--something about them watching her eat and it being rude-- I had no issues with letting them feed me. Especially since Esme was an incredible cook.
"Liv!" I turned just in time to have Alice enveloping me into a tight hug. I laughed, letting go of Emmett's hand in order to fully embrace the pixie vampire. "I got you the best gift, you're going to love it."
Her eyes twinkled as she pulled back from our hug and I rose a brow, "are you saying that because you already saw it or are you guessing?"
Alice smiled sweetly as she fell back in step with Jasper, who was grinning in amusement at his mate. "I saw it, of course."
I laughed fondly. Alice was right when we first met, we did become great friends. Her and I had gone shopping more than once, her insisting on buying me an entire new wardrobe. Most of my clothes had to stay here, since I didn't want Billy getting suspicious of where all the new clothing came from.
"Is Is here yet?" I asked, looking around Alice and Jasper to hopefully spot my best friend. Unfortunately my eyes caught onto a blonde instead and my hand tightened it's grip on Emmett's.
Things with Rosalie were... tense, to say the least. Ever since I'd found out about her and Emmett's complicated past, I was more territorial over my mate. I didn't necessarily want to be the jealous type, but Rosalie still looked at Emmett with a sort of longing I didn't quite understand. It made me insecure and it left things between us uncomfortable.
Still, I tried to be polite whenever she was around. I pulled a tight smile, "Rosalie, hi."
Rosalie opted to shoot me a disgusted look before clicking her tongue in distaste, "hi."
I ground my teeth, biting back any snide remarks or choice words I had for the blonde bitch. Thankfully Bella and Edward walked in just in time to save the day. "Is," I tried to hide the sigh of relief that left my lungs, "you made it." I sent her a subtle look before crossing the room and bringing her into a tight hug.
The scent of her floral perfume surrounded me and I instantly took a deep inhale, the notes of lavender quickly working to sooth me. Bella laughed as we pulled away, "of course I made it, I wouldn't miss your birthday."
I smiled appreciatively, she really was a good friend. "I hope you came hungry, Bella," Esme called from the kitchen. I looked over my shoulder to see that she was putting the food into gorgeous serving dishes.
Bella shifted awkwardly from beside me, "uh, I could eat."
"You ate before coming here," Edward mumbled lowly from behind her.
I choked on a laugh and Emmett openly chuckled. I watched in amusement as Bella sent Edward a look. "Way to call out your girl, bro." My boyfriend teased his brother.
To ease Bella's embarrassment I turned to Esme with a smile, "I guess that means more for me!" The Cullen's sans Rosalie all chuckled at my words and Bella sent me an appreciative smile as I sat down to eat with the entire Cullen family and Bella surrounding me.
After an incredible meal where I ate more than I probably should have, we all sat in the living room talking and sharing stories.
"So then, I ended up in this small diner in Philly, where I saw him sitting alone in a booth," Alice smiled fondly at her mate, "of course I already knew he'd be there, but it was even more exciting seeing him for real."
I smiled at the couple, my heart swooning for them and their sweet story. "That's so cute! Meeting in a diner is so romantic."
Emmett chuckled from beside me, his laugh vibrating through my entire body as I was leaning against him with his arm wrapped around me. "I think our meeting was cute, too."
I rose a brow, turning to my boyfriend with a laugh edging on my lips, "the drugstore? I mean, it worked out, but it isn't that romantic."
"I dunno," Bella countered, shaking her head, "it happening in an odd place kinda makes it even cuter."
I pursed my lips in thought for a moment before nodding in agreement. "Okay, fine, it was totally romantic and I wouldn't change a thing." I smiled up at my boyfriend before quickly placing a kiss on his lips.
Emmett smiled in victory and we all fell into a comfortable silence that was quickly broken by Esme. "How about we do gifts, now."
My cheeks heated slightly, "you guys really didn't have to get my anything--"
Carlisle waved me off, "nonsense, it's your birthday."
I ducked my head, deciding to just accept my fate with a smile. I sat up from my position of leaning into Emmett's side, his arm falling to rest at my low back.
"Mine first!" Alice all but squealed in excitement as she jumped up from the couch in a blur to return a moment later directly in front of me with a small rectangle box in hand. "From Jasper and I."
I smiled at Alice, taking the box in hand. I lifted the lid of the box, revealing a paper certificate inside. Before I could properly read what the certificate was for, Alice burst out in excitement, "its to an all inclusive spa, we got you the most extensive package. I know things with your family and Emmett have been a bit stressful so, I thought..." She trailed off with a shrug.
"Oh, Alice," I whispered. Passing the box to Emmett, I got up from the couch and brought the shorter girl into a tight hug. "Thank you so much!" She returned the hug with enthusiasm. When we broke apart I sent a smile to Jasper, "thank you." I repeated and he just nodded in acknowledgement.
I sat back down beside Emmett as Esme got up, walking over with what looked to be a jewelry box. "From Carlisle and I," she smiled gently while waiting for me to open the box.
It didn't take long to open the lid and see what was inside. My mouth popped open into a gape as I took in the gorgeous earrings and matching bracelet. The earrings were gold studs with diamonds on the end and the necklace was a gorgeous gold chain with a diamond charm at the end.
My eyes jumped from the jewelry to Esme, "is this real?"
Esme nodded, a laugh spilling from her lips, "of course it's real. Only the best for you."
I shook my head, "no, I can't accept this." I went to hand it back but she put her hands over the box, pushing it back toward me.
"Olivia, you're keeping it," she insisted.
I swallowed any further protests, nodding slowly, "Okay. Thank you guys. It's really too much--"
"Just accept the gift, babe," Emmett chuckled in a teasing tone from behind me.
I let out a huff, giving Esme a tight hug before sitting back down, gently placing the jewelry box on Emmett's lap.
"I have your gift at home," Bella spoke next, "I figured I'd wait till tomorrow so Billy doesn't get suspicious."
I nodded in understanding. "That's fine."
The next gift was from Edward, it was a second edition Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. My mouth popped open in surprise and I could hardly speak words as I thanked Edward. Though, I suppose he could hear the thanks in my head.
"Well, I guess it's my turn," Emmett gave my hip a squeeze before standing up. "Your gift is upstairs."
I smiled in excitement, standing to follow him. "Lead the way." We made our way up the stairs and to the top floor where Em's room was. before he could open the door he moved to stand behind me, his hand moving over my eyes.
"What's this for?" I asked, giggling as my vision was suddenly black. I shuffled forward as Emmett led me into his room. The familiar scents of evergreen and fire wood entered my nose and I felt my body relax on instinct.
"So it's a surprise," Emmett answered as we came to a stop in the center of his room. I rolled my lip between my teeth, suddenly nervous for whatever his gift might be.
Before I could overthink it too hard, Emmett's hand was pulled away and light flooded my vision. I had to blink a few times to clear my vision before I fully was able to process what was in front of me.
Where Emmett's wall was once empty, there was now a king sized mattress with a soft looking comforter set. My smile widened in excitement as I turned toward my boyfriend. "Is this so we can finally have boring bed sex?" I teased.
Emmett barked out a laugh, his eyes crinkling at the corners, "trust me, bed sex with me won't be boring, babe." I rolled my lip between my teeth, trying to stop the mental images from entering my mind. Poor Edward. "I just figured if you wanted to stay over more often, you'd need a proper place to sleep."
"That's sweet, Em. Thank you," I smiled sweetly, stepping forward to wrap my arms around Emmett's waist. He pulled me into a hug, placing a kiss to the top of my head. Truthfully I was beyond grateful for the bed, Emmett's futon was getting a little uncomfortable and I dreaded sleeping on it each time I had to.
I pulled out of the hug, turning to make my way over to the bed. I ran my hand along the soft bedding, turning to look at Emmett over my shoulder. "So, should we break in the new bed now or..."
Emmett answered with a wolfish grin and before I knew it we were tangled between the sheets.
It was late when I returned home, close to midnight and I knew Billy would be upset that I'd missed curfew by an hour. But I didn't care much, I was riding high from the amazing birthday I'd spent with the Cullen's. I was so grateful that the family of vampires had taken me in as their own. I loved Emmett with all my heart and knowing that his family approved and cared for me was a blessing.
I stepped into my home, the warmth wrapping around me in an instant. We didn't have air conditioning so the house got fairly warm in the summer months, but I didn't mind it.
I didn't expect anyone to be awake, but the light from the kitchen pulled my attention. Sitting at the kitchen table was Billy. His head was bowed and his hands held the house phone in their grip.
"Dad," I asked, breaking the silence. Concern laced my words as I spoke, "is something wrong?"
I watched as he let out a slow breath before finally lifting his head to look at me. Disappointment was radiating off of his face. "Where were you tonight?"
"With Bella--"
"Where were you," He interrupted, putting emphasis on his words, his voice growing stern.
I hesitated, my heart rate picking up. I hated lying to him. I hated lying to anyone, but him the most. "At Bella's house," I answered, biting the inside of my cheek nervously.
"Wrong," Billy shook his head.
Silence stretched between us and I felt my stomach tying itself in knots. I was uneasy. Billy knew I wasn't at Bella's but did he know where I actually was? My heart was racing in my chest now and I briefly considered if Paul had finally snapped and told Billy about Emmett and I. But, that was ridiculous and I knew it. Paul wouldn't betray me like that.
"I called Charlie, he said that he hadn't seen you," Billy explained, lifting the phone to show me, "He said Bella was at the Cullen's house. I suspect that's where you were?"
My mouth went dry. "I can explain--"
"I told you not to see them," Billy snapped, his voice raising, "I forbid you--"
It was my turn to cut him off now, "It's not fair of you to do that!"
Billy's face turned incredulous, like he couldn't believe I was disagreeing with him. I usually didn't, my adoptive father was always level-headed and always guided me in the right direction. But I had to fight him on this.
"He's my mate, dad," I pleaded with him to understand, "he's not just some boyfriend, he's literally my soulmate."
At my words Billy froze, unable to do anything else except look at me speechless. My heart was racing in my chest as I awaited his response. I hadn't told him about Emmett and I's bond in fear that he'd get upset, or worse... I didn't want to give Billy any reason to disown me. Was being fated to a vampire going to be that very reason?
"Please say something," I whispered, my voice breaking slightly.
Billy took a slow breath, his eyes tore away from mine and dropped to the table top. He looked pensive, deep in thought, but not angry. "I see," he hummed after awhile. Billy cleared his throat, taking another breath before meeting my gaze. When he spoke his voice was much softer than before, "go on up to bed, it's gettin' late."
"Are we not going to talk about it?" I asked, shocked at his dismissal of me.
He shook his head, "no. Not tonight."
"Are..." I took a nervous breath, "Are you going to kick me out?"
Billy's eyes went wide, his entire demeanor shifting into one of surprise. "Kick you out? Why on Earth would I do that?"
"Because my boyfriend is a vampire," I whispered the word, speaking into existence the truth we both knew, though we'd never said it outright. "He's literally everything you hate. Everything we're supposed to hate."
Billy nodded slowly, "yes, well, it can't be helped."
My eyes widened slightly, completely surprised at his lack of reaction. It seemed that as soon as he knew Emmett and I were bonded together, all anger about my involvement with the Cullen's vanished.
"We can talk more about this later, go on up to bed."
I nodded, slowly making my way over to Billy. I bent down and placed a kiss to his head before moving up the stairs and into my room.
I stayed up well past 2AM that night, trying to decide whether to be worried or relieved at Billy's reaction.
