Now Playing; Now's Your Chance by Together We Fall

Zero stared down at the city of Rome from one of the church's third story balconies, thoughts running wild. Soojin had left earlier that day to handle something, dragging Namjoon with him. But the hybrid didn't care to know what it was about. That left him with the presence of Hyunwoo and his annoying younger brother; Geonwoo. Luckily he was able to avoid them. He didn't care about either of their purpose, just that they were both useless humans kissing Soojin's ass. His peace was interrupted when Hyunwoo stepped into the room. "Ah, there you are." Zero ignored him even though he walked over to stand beside him and gaze down at the city. "What do you want?" "Do I have to want something? Can't I just have a normal conversation with you?" Hyunwoo gave him a laugh, leaning forward against the balcony railing. Zero let out a frustrated huff. "Just because I'm letting you be in my presence doesn't mean I want to converse with you." The human looked away from the city and stared at the hybrid. "Oh, come on. I'm not a bad guy. Just misunderstood." "You shot Eunha. I don't care what you have to say. You're lucky I don't throw you over this railing." Hyunwoo hummed at his reply. His body language read that he still had no fear of the immortal. "Then why haven't you?" Zero finally looked at him. He was still staring back with a smug look on his face. His question brought no reply, the hybrid looking away again. "What about what I did to Wooyoung? Seonghwa?" Zero snickered. "You think I care about them?" "Hongjoong was hell bent on going back for them. But he was smart about it. He didn't go rushing in blind. But I guess he also had a heads up from Mingi and Jongho..." Hyunwoo trailed off, eyes narrowing at Zero. "How do I know you aren't following along with a plan to do the same?" The suspicion seemed to hit a nerve because he flinched, eyes back on the human. "They never cared about me. I was just the monster under Hongjoong's skin, quite literally. I was the blame for any and every thing that went wrong." Hyunwoo was no longer smiling, at least on the outside. "They'd do anything for Hongjoong. But me? I'm sure it was a relief once they knew I was gone." "How do you spend lifetimes with them and this is how you treat each other?" Zero wasn't sure if the question was genuine, especially when Hyunwoo was so hard to read in the moment. "They spent lifetimes together. I had no choice but to be there. A shadow trapped behind Hongjoong." Zero let out a dry laugh, shaking his head. "I never got a say in any of the decisions. When I chose to go with Soojin that night he ripped us apart... That's the first decision I've made in three-hundred and fifty years." "That's a long time." Hyunwoo rebutted. "But how do I know you aren't lying?"        "For a moment I thought you were being genuine. I guess that's my mistake." Zero stepped backwards and began to walk away.        "Wait-" The hybrid stopped in his tracks, only because Hyunwoo used a tone he'd never thought he would hear from him. "I don't have any friends. I thought maybe-"       "You thought what? That we would become friends?" Zero laughed. "Just because we're on the same side, wanting the same thing, doesn't mean I like you. And that damn well means I don't want to be friends."        "That's fair. We don't have to be friends." Hyunwoo seemed to drop the tough guy act and Zero wasn't able to read if it truly was an act or not. He sighed and went back to the balcony, now leaning on it the same as the human.        "So why are you helping Soojin? What do you get out of this?"        "A hybrid killed my father. They were hunting one that was seen in northern Korea. It made him beg not to kill his comrades, give his life for theirs. But he killed them too." Hyunwoo looked away from Zero.        "How do you know it was me and Hongjoong?"        "You were the last one alive. I was fifteen when it happened. The only other hybrid we knew of was killed years earlier, Soojin was there for that." "If you want me dead, why do you want us to be friends?" Zero turned slightly to completely face the human. "I didn't know about your situation until you came here. I knew werewolves have two personalities but not the conditions. I guess... I can understand the feeling of being trapped." Hyunwoo continued to stare over the railing, his mind drifting elsewhere. "Avenging my father is all I care about anymore."       "I think I remember him." Hyunwoo shot his head in the hybrids direction, stunned by his words. "Happened twenty-some years ago. It was on the night of a full moon."        "My brother was barely born. Not even a full month old." He cleared his throat and changed the subject. "How are you going to everything explain to her?" Zero had tried not to think about her. Their bond had been severed in the spell, and it's taken a toll on his heart. "I just hope she understands. If I help Soojin that ensures her survival. After they're dealt with I'm taking her and leaving the country." "What about your kid?" "There is no fighting Soojin. He can't be killed. He'll always get what he wants and there's no stopping him. My pack never stood a chance against them. Neither will Hongjoong and the others. It may be my kid just as much as Hongjoong's, but she is more important to me." Before he made his deal with Soojin, her fate was sealed to be ended. Now he had a chance to save her, as long as Soojin kept his word. But he didn't plan on staying around long enough to find out. After the child is born they are disappearing. The chances of Eunha forgiving him were slim but in his eyes, her survival was all he cared about. And truth be told he didn't hate Hongjoong, no matter how much he tried. If the sides were reversed he probably would have done the same thing. And he didn't hate the others. He hated the circumstances, their ignorance towards his feelings, his side of the coin. Zero was just angry. Angry at the world. Angry at his pack. Angry that he and Hongjoong were born different. Angry at himself for what he was doing. The only thing he wasn't angry at was Eunha. He wanted to be, but only because she didn't want to be a vampire. He couldn't physically bring himself to it. She was his everything. He couldn't lose her, even if it meant losing everyone else.
