The Endgame

01:24, 3 September 2024

"Do we know if she had family?" Tony asks. Tony, Steve, Clint, Bruce, Thor and I are on the dock of the compound. Most of us standing or pacing. The rest of the avengers are somewhere else- I don't really care. They shouldn't be here anyway. They aren't real Avengers, they don't know Natasha like we do. They're just here until we get the rest of the real Avengers back. Steve nods in response to Tony's question, "yeah. Us." Thor steps closer to Tony, "what? What are you doing?" Tony looks confused at Thors angry tone. "I just asked him a question." "Yeah, no. You're acting like she's dead. Why are we acting like she's dead? We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones, we can bring her back. Isn't that right?" He sounds angry as he glares at Tony, "so stop this shit. We're the Avengers. Get it together." "We can't get her back." Clint states, staring at the water. "It can't be undone. It can't." Thor laughs. "Look, I'm sorry, no offense but you're a very earthly being, okay? And we're talking about space magic. 'Can't' seems very definitive, don't you think?" "I know I'm way outside my pay grade here, but she still isn't here, is she? It can't be undone." Collings voice cracks. "Or that's at least what the red, floating guy had to say. Maybe you wanna go talk to him okay? Go grab your hammer and you go fly and you talk to him!" It's silent for a moment. Thor is in denial, like I was at the beginning of Peter's death. Like there has to be a way to get her back. But most of the time- especially in our case- there isn't. We're lucky there's a small chance to get Peter and the rest of the snapped back. "It was supposed to be me." Clint continues, "she sacrificed her life for that goddamn stone, she bet her life on it." Bruce suddenly yells and throws a bench across the lake where it splashes loudly. "She's not coming back." "We have to make it worth it. She died for the stone right? So we have to put it to use, bring everyone back. That's what she wanted. We have to make it matter." I say shakily. "We will." Steve responds.

The next day Tony has a glove constructed to hold the stones. It's more like an Iron Man glove than what Thanos had. I'm grateful for that, maybe it'll bring us luck. "The question is, who's going to snap their fingers?" Rocket asks. Thor stand up immediately, "I'll do it." He starts walking to the glove, dead set on being the one. "Excuse me?" Tony asks. When Thor doesn't stop he puts out a hand to stop him. "Hey hey, slow down." "Just wait, we haven't decided who's going to put that one yet." Steve adds. "I'm sorry, what, we're just sitting around waiting for the right opportunity? Sitting here staring at that thing is not going to bring everybody back. I'm the strongest Avenger, okay? So this responsibility falls upon me. It's my duty-" Thor gets cut off. Tony cuts Thor off and they bicker for a second until Thor grabs Tony's hand. "J-just let me. Just let me do something good, something right." Thor breaths heavily. "It's not just the fact that the glove has enough energy to light up a continent, I'm telling you, you're in no confusion." Tony states. When Thor tries to argue again, Bruce interrupts him. "It's gotta be me. You saw what those stones did to Thanos, they almost killed him. None of you could survive." "Wait- how do we know you will? I'm done with us going of a 50/50 chance. I get it, all of you want to risk your fucking lives, but haven't we done enough of that? What's the point of bringing everyone back if there's no one left to greet them?" I ask. "The radiation's mostly gamma. It's like... I was made for this. It's more than a 50/50 chance. I'd say it's 75%." I open my mouth to argue then shut it. He's right, this is as good as it's going to get. Bruce grabs the glove, holding it gently while looking it over. "Let's do it." "Okay, remember, everyone Thanos snapped five years ago, you're just bringing them back to now. Today. Don't change anything from the last five years." Tony informs. Everyone's suits up in their regular suits, not those white ones form the time travel. It feels good to be in the Spider-Woman suit again. The suits are for protection when he snaps. Hopefully, this way, none of us die in the process. God, I hate hope. Tony holds an electric shield in front of Clint, I'm standing behind Clint since out of all of us, my suits the thinnest. Thor is covering Rocket. Tony shuts down the compound so none of the radiation gets outside. Bruce looks at us, "everybody comes home." The glove expands and he puts his hand inside. Immediatly, they glow and colored lighting courses through his body. I flinch a little and take a step back. Bruce falls to the ground, groaning. "Take it off! Take it off!" Thor shouts. "No- wait, Bruce are you okay?" Steve asks. "Talk to me Banner!" Tony shouts. Bruce continues to horns for a moment before nodding, "I'm okay. I'm okay." Bruce is panting heavily and his whole right arm looks charred as lighting continues to course through him. He yells and forces his hand to snap. Light fills the room and when it fades we see Bruce on the floor, his left arm charred. The glove looks like it was on fire, it's discarded to the side. We run forward to surround Bruce, his eyes are closed. Tony sprays ice stuff on his arm and his eyes open. "Did it work?" Bruce asks. The doors to the compound open again and we hear a cell phone vibrate on the table. Ant man walks to look out of the window, swing birds fly. Clint walks to his phone, looking wary. He picks it up and answer. "Guys... I think it worked.." Scott says. I feel tears immediately come to my eyes. it worked. IT FUCKING WORKED! Peter's coming back. I don't have time to celebrate because immediately large beams shoot through the windows, exploding the whole compound. The floor beneath us gives away and we fall down a huge whole. I try to shoot a web to stop falling but I'm out. i hit the ground hard and all the breath gets knocked out of me. I feel something hard fall on me and I scream. I immediately feel warm liquid- blood seep around me. I cant breathe. Igasp for air. "Tony! Help someone! I cant breathe- i cant-" I stop talking to focus on breathing. i try to push the rubbleof me but its too heavy. I hear people talk but I cant make out what they're saying. Then I see Steve run over to me, "you okay- oh no." He sees the rubble and starts quickly picking pieces off one by one. Pretty soon Tony runs over and helps. Finally there's just one piece left that is partially in me. "This is going to hurt okay? I'll immediately ice it so you don't bleed out." Tony states. i nod and grit my teeth. Steve grabs the chuck of rock and pauses before slowly pulling it out. i scream until finally it's gone. Tony sprays the ice onto my wound to stop the bleeding. i breathe heavily. We all pause for a moment, catching our breaths, before Tony helps me up. We walk around before finding a hole that leads out. We climb out and see Thor already there. Thor's looking at Thanos sitting down. I really don't want to see this guy again but if I get another chance to kill him, I'll have at it. "What's he been doing?" I ask. "Absolutely nothing." Thor states. "Where are the stones?" "Somewhere under all this." Tony responds. "He doesn't have them. Let's keep it that way." Steve responds. "This is a trap... right?" I ask. "Yeah.... I don't really care." Tony answers. "Me neither." Thunder cracks and lighting flows into Thor. His hammer flies into his hand and his suit appears. "Let's kill him properly this time." "Agreed." Steve and I say in unison. We climb down the small hill and approach Thanos. "You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me." Thanos states. "I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive. But you've shown me... that's impossible." "Oh, give us a break. Believe me, the third best part of the job is hearing the villains stupid long monologues, but I'm really not in the mood right now." I interrupt. Thanos glares at me and continues. "Now, I know what I must do. I will shred this universe down to its last atom. And then, with the stones you've collected for me, create a new one. Teeming with life. That knows not what it has lost, but only what it has been given." He stands up, gracing his sword. We all get in a fighting stance, Thor is the first to run forward, all of us soon following. Thor tries to use his hammer but Thanos hits him to the side. Tony continuously shot bullets at him but Thanos knocks each one away before it hits him. I try to web Thanos' legs together to make him fall but he breaks the webs easily. Steve and I back up while Thor powers Tony with lighting. Then Tony beams it at Thanos who uses his sword as a shield. Thanos pushes the lighting back towards Tony and both Tony and Thor fly to the side. Steve runs forward to land kick after kick of Thanos but he just knocks Steve done. When I try, I land only one punch before getting pushed away as well. No one has enough strength to get up except Thor, who immediately runs forward. Thanos shoves him into a rock and punches his bloody face several times. Then Thanos grabs one of Thor's hammers and try's to kill Thor. Thor grabs the hammer and try's his hardest to keep it away but slowly the hammer gets closer to Thor's chest, the sharp point touching his suit. Suddenly Mjölnir flies and knocks the hammer out of Thanos' hand. Then it flies back into Steve's hand. My eyes widen. "I knew it.." Thor says. Steve starts fighting Thanos with Mjölnir while I stand up and go over to Thor, helping him up. I look over and see Steve on the ground, his shield cracked badly and his face bloody. But he still tries to stand up again. "In all my years of conquest, violence, slaughter, it was never personal. But I'll tell you now, what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet. I'm going to enjoy it." Thanos says, not a scratch on him. "Very very much."
