Ch. 38 Plane ride

= INSIDE THE PRIVATE JET, Grant re-settles, trying to get comfortable. Billy is across from him, finishing cleaning his camera lenses before putting them back in the ragged case.
"Even with what I pay you, you could get a better bag." Alan scoffs. And Billy boisterously laughs, having been grateful that he was invited by Alan. "No way. This is lucky. Couple years ago some buddies and I went hang gliding off these cliffs in New Zealand. Updraft sent me right into the side. BOOM!"
"That does sound lucky." Alan murmurs.
"It was this strap alone that saved my life. Got caught on a rock as I was falling." Billy finishes and Alan moves around in the seat. Not exactly excited about all of this.
"Reverse-Darwinism. Survival of the most idiotic."
Billy shifts in his seat awkwardly. "Listen Alan, I really appreciate you bringing me along."
"The bones will be there when we get back. That's the nice thing about them. They never run away." Alan leans forward with a small beat. "And besides, you got me into this. I don't intend to be alone with these people."
"I thought you would've invited someone else's that's all." Billy says.
"I would've but they aren't here anymore." Hearing those words two people sitting near the front of the plane. Paul draws a long, nervous breath and looks at Amanda. She seems just as tense.
Finally finding a comfortable position, Grant puts his hat over his eyes, ready to take a nap.
"So how do you know the Kirby's?" Billy curiously asks the man and he's wearing sunglasses so dark you can't tell whether he's staring at you or fast asleep.
"Through our church." He responds and Billy decides to ask another question.
"What Religion?"
"Uh...the one that worships God and believes in being Good." This confuses Billy, wouldn't someone know what religion they are? Wouldn't they know it for the church?
Deciding not to ask more, Billy turns away and began shuffling through his bag comfortably. Pulling out a few snacks.
Startled, Alan Grant soon wakes up from his slumber, disoriented. He also finds that Billy is leaning over him. "Alan. We're almost there."
The adrenaline still surging through him, Grant turns and looks through the window, clouds mainly obscure the view, than parts are slowly revealed to show an island rising out of the water like it was a god of some sort.
In various combinations, Grant and Billy, Paul and Amanda look out the windows at the amazingly green island. The man at the back, Cooper looks out through a window of his own.
Alan and Billy both hears a voice comes over their radio headsets but it was quickly turned off so the pair didn't think much of it
The plane now descends to a mere hundred feet above the treetops and Paul puts his hand atop Amanda's as they stare intently out the window.
Billy looks to Grant. "Admit it. You're excited." Billy grins at the older male who shrugs. He was only looking out quickly to see the beautiful creatures.
"Cooper! Yell up if you see anything!" One of the pilots shouts back to the male who smiles at his words.
"No, I thought I'd keep it to myself!" Cooper shouts back and Alan suddenly spots something.
"There. There! An Apatosaur. Look at the coloration." He almost practically screams, gazing down where he seemingly freezes.
Down at the Apatosaurus, the small stature of a figure holds hands up. Holding a lock for grass that it feeds on, turning when they hear the sound of something rustling in the air.
"Madison?" Alan whispers, accidentally saying the girls name loudly as heads turn his way.
"The girl you talk about?" Billy looks over his companions shoulder, only to the Apatosaurus roaring and acting as if no one was actually there.
"Sorry, my heads just playing tricks that's all." Sighing, Billy goes and sits back into his seat. Continuing to sight see with awe.
"I'm so use to seeing bones. It's weird to see skin." Billy tells Alan, the older male shakes his head and leans into the middle. Beginning to take his job as the tour guide.
"Mr. and Mrs. Kirby! If you look out the right you can see..." however, he stops when Paul just simply waves him away with a hand, staring intently out his window. Confusing the male
Looking out the window, Alan takes notices how they're now flying awfully low. Just then, he hears a mechanical hum and a low rush plus shudder from outside. Now not wanting to believe.
"That's not the landing gear right?" Alan asks the pair but Paul, Amanda and Cooper don't respond.
"What you're..." he awkwardly laughs in disbelief, finally realising what it was for. "You can't land."
Paul turns back to him. "Dr. Grant if you'd just sit tight, we'll explain this all in a jiffy."
"This plane can not land!" Alan yells in protests while the others move to calm him down.
"It's going to be all right. Just..." Amanda drawls off just as Alan is out of his seat, heading for the cockpit. He'll wrestle the controls if he has to.
Although, Cooper grabs him, pulling him back. Grant starts to struggle, but he's certainly no match. A well-practiced fist hits him dead on.
Crouched on the ground, a female with tied up purple and pink hair, kind of drained out with specks of white being evident. It was tied up into a high ponytail and surprisingly it wasn't greasy, probably because she used the bathrooms in the old laboratories.
"What on earth...?" She whispers aloud in obvious confusion. A rifle was situated onto her back with two big heads of smilodon's peeping over from the sides. Twisting open a cap of a flask and drinking what ever was inside.
They watch from afar as a plane is silently kept on the runway, she knew they were here to probably find those two people that went missing a few weeks ago.
"Bumble, Ezra... don't attack the humans unless they attack you." Holding a hand up, the animals growls before stopping. "You too Zion, don't think I can't see you licking your lips."
A medium sized Giganotosaur pulls back and tilts his head at the girls presumption. Releasing a deflated roar. Almost whining.
Bumble roars back at the giant reptile, the other Smilodon moving over and hopping onto the back of the large creature with Madison following, sitting herself at the front as she places the flask attached to her belt. "Let's go find you some food then guys."
After a few helpless moments, Billy and a groggy Grant emerge from the airplane. Paul trots over.
"Dr Grant, are you alright? I'm sorry we had to be so..." Paul chortles as he apologises to the now distressed Paleontologist groans in agony. He watches as the other three men walk straight into the jungle with their guns.
"What the hell is going on? What are they doing?" Alan asks the man.
"Establishing a perimeter. Making it safe. These guys are really good. One of them was a Green..." Paul explains, trailing off as Alan interrupts him. "Mr. Kirby, trust me, on this island, there is no such thing as safe. We have to get back in this plane..."
"What if we find that Hammond woman? She's supposed be here." Paul curiously asks but Alan sighs heavily.
"She won't help you as we aren't even supposed to be here anyway." He responds, looking away with a softened gaze. Alan shakes his head and looks to Amanda, who shouts through a bull horn.
"ERRR-IIIC!"
"And tell your wife to stop making so much noise! We're food to these damn animals." Alan tells Paul who turns to his wife. Cupping his hands around his mouth
"Amanda, Honey! Dr. Grant says it's a bad idea!" Paul tells the woman loudly who spins, shouting once more into the bullhorn.
"What?"
Paul points a blaming finger to the Paleontologist in the group. "He says it's a bad idea!"
"What's a bad idea!?" As if the gods were hearing them, on cue there is a deafening roar from the jungle. Freezing those around.
"What was that?" Paul asks Alan who doesn't answer, still listening to the reverberations. Then a couple shots are heard.
Billy was next to ask a question. "Is it a rex?"
"I don't think so." Alan shakes his head and both Billy and Paul breathe a small sign of relief.
"Sounds bigger."
Nash and Udesky comes sprinting out of the daunting jungle, headed for the plane. "We gotta go, now!"
"What's the problem? Can't you guys...? As Udesky and Nash sprint past Paul in interrupted by a second, closer, deafening roar. He pales.
Udesky waits by the door, hustling everyone inside. Nash hurries into the cockpit. Everyone scrambles to a seat. Amanda climbs next to Paul.
"We can't just..."
"Don't worry, honey. We'll circle around and come back." Paul comfortably pats his wife's head and Udesky closes the door.
"What about the other guy?" Billy asks Udesky.
"Coop's a professional. He can handle himself." The man assures the boy and goes into the cockpits
A blood-curdling scream echoes through the jungle followed by machine gun, halting the steps of a few islanders.
"We're going!" Nash shouts as Udesky climbs into the copilot's seat, and Nash revs the engine.
