Reuniting

01:57, 2 January 2015

Over hill and under treeThrough lands where never light has shoneBy silver streams that run down to the seaTo these memories I will holdWith your blessing I will-

My song was cut short as I neared the courtyard and saw many people walking about. I never liked singing around people, so I stopped.

I had heard Gimli singing that song months ago, and I asked him about it. He told me it was a song the dwarves sung to remember their fallen King Under the Mountain. He had taught it to me, and I found it pretty, but sad.

The courtyard in front of me was full of Elves, young and old. Children ran around, laughing and playing. Many stopped what they were doing to wave and smile at me. I waved back, and they screamed with delight and darted to their parents. Three months ago, when the Fellowship went their own ways and our quest had been completed, the Elves of Rivendell had come to know who I was. The children often waved at me, and I always waved back.

I carefully made my way through the courtyard, feeling my bow and quiver on my back. Once I got further away from the people, I pulled an arrow from my quiver and nocked it to my bow. Carefully, I crept silently through the trees that lined the kingdom of Rivendell. Before I had come here today, I had told Lord Elrond that I might be leaving. Not forever, of course. Well, maybe one day. But not now.

Looking up into the treetops, I saw a small sparrow resting on a branch, twenty or so feet above me. Smiling slightly, I remembered the time I hit a bird with one if my throwing knives and cooked it for breakfast. I didn't shoot this bird, however, I kept moving towards my targets that were nearby.

The day that the council was held in Rivendell, I spent the morning here, training, practicing. Many people told me that I would never need my skills with a bow or knives. They had been wrong, very wrong.

I saw the targets and was slightly surprise to see Roanne there. Lowering my aimed bow, I walked silently over to her. "Ro?" I questioned quietly. "Roanne, why are you here?"She turned to face me, and I was even more shocked to see her crying.

Instantly, I put my arrow and bow on my back and hurried over to her. I pulled her into my arms and she hugged me back, sniffling softly. "What is wrong? Is it Saydra?" She shook her head, then tapped my chest. "It's me?"She nodded.

I pulled away from her, frowning. "Why are crying over me?" I asked. It had been years since I saw Roanne cry, was she just worried?She took a moment to get herself together before she spoke. "Lord Elrond said that you might leave, I know not like last time, but don't go again!"She wiped her tears on her arm.

I sighed. "Roanne, I'm sorry." I didn't know what to say. "This time I promise that I will be in no danger. Absolutely none."She nodded a little. "That helps. I just though nobody would be here, especially you."I smiled. "Come on, let's go find Saydra. She's probably already in trouble."Roanne smiled. "You are not wrong."

We walked together out of the woods and back into the courtyard. Roanne apologized for crying like that, she was just worried and upset. I don't think she had gotten over me leaving the first time. After a few minutes of searching the grounds outside, we went to Saydra's room and knocked on the door.

I had to knock four times before she opened the door, looking annoyed. "What in Middle Earth do you want so early in the morning?" She hissed at us. "Saydra, it's almost noon." Roanne said. "Come on, let us in.''She did, reluctantly.

We talked while she brushed her hair and dressed, taking a long time deciding what dress to wear. "Just choose, it's not like you are seeing someone." I said impatiently. She turned and smirked. "Like how you are seeing that Elf of yours?"I blushed. "Stop it, he might not even be coming today!"

She shrugged and went back to her dresses. Five minutes later, another knock sounded at her door. Saydra looked even more annoyed. "Would someone get that please?" She huffed. "I am trying to start my day!"I smiled at her as crossed the room to her door. I opened it to find Lindir.Saydra gasped quietly and ducked into her washroom to change.

I smiled at him. "Hello Lindir, good morning!" I said. He nodded to me. "Good morning Ryanne. I have been asked to find you.""Find me? For whom?" I asked. "He didn't give his name, but he came from Mirkwood to visit you."

I gasped. "He's here? Right now?" Lindir nodded. "He arrived only a few moments ago."I turned to Roanne, still sitting on the bed, and Saydra who had just finished changing. "I've got to go." I said. "But I will see you in no time at all!"

The smiled and came to hug me, both looking sad. "We will miss you, and will be thinking of you." Roanne said. I nodded and hugged them one last time. Then, I slipped out of Saydra's room and out into the day that had just gotten better. Behind me, I heard Saydra asking Lindir to spend the day with her, and I smiled as he said that he would love to.

Wasting no time, I ran from Saydra's room, and to the courtyard. I got there quickly, and saw Legolas instantly. He saw me too and ran to hug me.

"I've missed you!" I said into his chest. He kissed me on the forehead. "I've missed you more than you could imagine."I smiled and kissed him, not caring if other people saw.

"Come on." He said. "Let's go see Aragorn." I smiled more. I was nothing if not ready to go back to Gondor.

~~~<<<~~~>>>~~~<<<~~~>>>~~
We traveled together for only a few days before we got to Aragorn's kingdom.We quickly rode up on Arod to the front gates of Gondor."Do you think he's waiting for us?"I asked Legolas. "I'm not sure, but he shouldn't be surprised that we came."I laughed a little. "No, he shouldn't."
Legolas halted Arod in front of the gates and dismounted, handing me the reins. He walked up and met a guard, and starting talking. "We are here to see King Aragorn, we are friends of him."The guard seemed to recognize us, and he motioned for us to follow. I dismounted Arod as well, handing him to a stable boy.
We followed the guard through halls and rooms, some that I had seen before, some that I hadn't. Finally, I saw the entryway to a room that made me smile. The throne room.
The doors were slightly open, and guards were positioned by the doors. Before we were allowed entrance, one guard went in, to talk to the King. We heard the guard say "My King, you have two Elves here to visit you. They claim they are friends."I heard Aragorn laugh slightly, as if he was waiting for us to come. "Yes, send them in.""Yes My King."
The guard reappeared and told us that we could go in. We did, half running to go see Aragorn. As soon as he saw us, he stood from his throne. "Ryanne, Legolas! My friends!" He came down and hugged us each. "It has been too long since we saw each other last!" I laughed. "We have missed you!"
Legolas and I decided to stay in Gondor for four days before leaving to our homes. When we visited, we talked with Aragorn about leading a kingdom and an army. I knew he would be one of the best kings Gondor has ever seen. Stories would be told about King Aragorn of Gondor.
He also talked with us about each other, and what we would do. Legolas and I both knew that soon, we would get married and live together. I knew Legolas wanted to live in Mirkwood, and I would be fine with that. Aragorn smiled when we told him that we might even have children. "Your children will be ones for enemies to fear when they get older." He told us. "You will train them well, I know."
Our visit was over to quickly, and soon we found ourselves saddling up to depart again. Aragorn saw us out of Gondor, and we promised to visit again soon. Arod carried Legolas and I swiftly to Rivendell. But before we got there, Legolas stopped Arod and dismounted. I followed suit, but I didn't know why we had stopped.
"Legolas, what is the matter?" I asked, slightly worried. "Do you wish to return to Rivendell?" He asked me. "Or will you come with me to Mirkwood?" I smiled. "I will come to Mirkwood with you, but soon I will have to I back to my home. I cannot leave unannounced."He smiled back at me. "But when the time is here, yes Legolas my love, I will marry you."
He smiled even wider and pulled me into his arms, kissing me.
"I love you Ryanne."
