Wilmer's POV

The bell ring rang and all of our students started to get back into our classes.

—Talk to you then —Demi said pecking my lips fast before someone could see us.

—Hi Mr. Wilmer! —Violet smiled at me—. What lesson do we have now? —she asked, taking her seat.

I was looking at her, but not really listening. I was over thinking about everything.

—Mr. Wilmer —Cooper called me—. Miss Demi left her jacket here. —he raised and showed it to me.

—Can I go give it back to her? —Aaron asked excitedly.

—No, Aaron —I told him seriously—. It's time to start our literature lesson and she will be doing the same. I'll give it to her later.

I handed them some books and they read and wrote a summary about them. With that, time to leave school arrived. The children left the room and I started to relocate their desks correctly, putting some dictionaries we used in their corresponding bookcases and preparing my lessons for the next day.

When I finished, I took my shoulder bag, Demi's jacket and I closed the room with the keys. Then I headed to her classroom so I could give the jacket back to her, but I realized she had already left school. I took my phone and I had a text message from her.

Baby❤: I left school earlier 2day bc I have 2go 2 my parents' to help Mad with a school project! Ttyl, love youuuuuu!

I texted her back:

Me: Ok! Good luck! Btw, u left ur jacket at my class! I got it!

I went downstairs to the parking ready to go back home, while I said goodbye to the teachers I met on the way. I drove thinking about what I had to do. I needed to find those ultrasound scans to confirm myself if I was that baby's father.

I parked my car in front of my apartment's door and I got out. I took my keys and my phone which had buzzed some seconds ago.

Baby❤: shit! Have my head in the clouds 2day! Thx! I'll come around later 2 take it!

I typed:

Me: Great!

I got inside home and I looked around to know if I was alone or if Lucía was home. I came into the kitchen, left my bag on the table and I took a sip of a bottle of water from the fridge. That's when I saw the note Lucía had left me stuck there: "I'll go shopping for our little one!! I'll be back around 7pm!"

Perfect! I ran to Lucía's bedroom and started to search through all her drawers: make-up, pajamas, shirts, books... were some of the stuff I found. I was about to give up when I remembered I still had a drawer to look at: her underwear one. I was quite embarrassed to look there, but I had to.

I started to take out her lingerie and I threw them to the floor nervously, when I suddenly found a white envelope in the bottom of the drawer. I took it out and examined it for some seconds until I read her full name "María Lucía González Díaz" next to the hospital's logo. That was it.

I pressed the envelope to my chest while I took a deep breath. I opened it and some pictures of her last ultrasound scans fell to the floor. Fast, I took the last one and looked at the top of it which said: May 6th, 23 weeks pregnant. I started to count the months back, realizing Demi was right. 23 weeks were six months, and six months ago counting down from May 6th, it was the first week of December.

Some teardrops started to fall down my cheeks. It was true. I had been deceived for months. I was sad and angry at the same time. I was angry because it was hurtful to assume that my friend could have done something like that to me, but to be honest, I think the hardest was to assume that I was not going to be a father anymore. At first, I was scared and I wasn't even excited to have a child, but after so many months... I was really in love with that idea that had just flown away.

I was collecting all the pictures when I heard the door opening downstairs.

—¿Hola? (Hello?) —Lucía shouted happily getting home—. I'm home already!

I placed the little pictures in my jeans' pocket and I started to walk downstairs too.

—Hi Willy! —Lucía said when she saw me—. You should be really enthusiastic about all the little clothes I've bought for our angel —she added leaping on me about to hug me.

I pushed myself aside, turning her hug down.

—Hey! Why are you so serious? —she asked, smiling—. Did you have a shitty day at school?

—Not really at school, actually —I replied to her taking the pictures out and showing them to her—. What does this shit mean, Lucía?

She got totally pale and stared at the pictures for some seconds.

—Where the hell did you find that? —Lucía shouted while ripping them out of my hands.

—That's not what matters most! I think you should explain me why do these shitty pictures say I'm not your son's father!? —I yelled at her.

—Wilmer! Who did tell you, you weren't the father? —she replied.

—Well, actually this says you are 7 months pregnant next week in June! I'm not retarded Lucía! —I kept yelling.

—Wilmer, I can explain this all to you.... —she said, trying to comfort me—. The thing is I didn't know I was pregnant until February... I kept having my period like every month and I didn't have any pregnancy symptom.... When I found out I was expecting, you can understand I thought about you, because you were the last person I made love with... —she excused herself.

—We didn't make love Lucía, we fucked! —I replied angrily—. I don't even remember it! —I rolled my eyes.

I was probably being meaner than I should, but I felt so disappointed and betrayed that I couldn't help it.

Lucia's eyes got watered as she kept talking to me.

—I discovered that I had been pregnant since December when I went to my first ultrasound scan in April and by that time; I had already told you that you were his dad!! —she complained.

—But Lucia! You should have told me! That'd have been the correct thing, you know!? I've been tricked all these months! —I shouted, putting my hands on my head, hysterically.

—But my baby deserves to have a father and you would be a perfect one! —she yelled back—. I thought you were happy about it!

—I was Lucía! But I was because that was my baby and it was my obligation to take care of him!

—Wilmer, but not being his birth father doesn't mean you can't be an amazing father for him! You can be a great daddy and we can form a beautiful family together! —she added, placing my hand into his baby bump.

I felt the baby move inside of her and it made me feel weak. I wanted to hug him. I had believed he was mine and it was hard to say goodbye to him now. Suddenly, he gave her a kick and it made me move my hand away from her tummy.

—I can't do that —I told her, broken—. I want a family... But if I have the option to chose with whom I'll form it... I will always choose Demi... Please, pack your things and leave my home... —I said looking at the floor.

—Bu-bu-but Wilmer! You can do this to me! I'm your friend!

At that moment the door got open again and Demi got in.

—Hello —she said, closing the door—. I come to rescue my jacket, thank you for taking it Wil! It's been a crazy day; I could have forgotten my head anywhere! —she joked, until she realized we were talking about something serious.

Lucía's face turned angry when she saw her at home.

—Um... I'm sorry if I interrupt you... I'll leave now —Demi told us.

—No! Stay! I guess you have something to do with all this —Lucía smiled evilly.

—Sorry? —Demi replied, confused.

—Didn't you brainwash him to leave me? —she added with annoyance.

—Excuse me? I remember you that I have always encouraged him to accept your pregnancy and to be responsible with your child... —Demi defended herself—. You are the one who didn't play fair!

—Oh! So you really know about what we are talking! —Lucía insisted.

—Stop it Lucía! She is not guilty of anything! She just heard you talking with the phone! —I shouted crazily when she started to involve Demi.

—Oh my God! This is even better! —Lucía laughed—. So you heard me and you were the one who told him! Incredible! Miss Lovato the detective! —she teased.

—Lucía, don't be a smart-ass and take your things to leave! —I pointed to the door.

—I'm the one leaving, I don't need to stand this —Demi said, taking her jacket and slamming the door.

Normal POV

Lucía went upstairs and packed her things quietly. Some minutes later, she went back at the entrance with all her belongings. She stopped at the door when she remembered something. She needed to think about a revenge plan. She turned over and opened the entrance's closet. It didn't take her long to find what she wanted: The pictures Wilmer and Demi had together from the camp. She took the envelope and kept it in her bag.

—Well, good luck! I hope everything goes well —Wilmer told her when she saw her leaving.

—Yeah... same goes to you! You will truly need it, because this is not the end! —she said before slamming the door too.

Demi's POV

I had come back home like an hour ago from Wilmer's. I couldn't stand that girl any second more. I had put some leggings and a short sleeve T-shirt on ready to leave jogging, because I needed to relieve my stress. When I was about to leave home, someone knocked on the door and I headed to open. Wilmer was standing outside, crying and sobbing. He jumped on me and hugged me.

—It's okay, love —I whispered, hugging him back tightly.

I closed the door without releasing him and we spend some minutes like that until he got to talk.

—Are you busy? Were you leaving?

—I was, but I will stay for you —I replied to him—. Let's go wipe those tears —I said, taking him to the bathroom.

I opened the sink and Wilmer washed his face.

—I feel so weak Demi... I'm sorry —he muttered.

—Wilmer, it's normal... you are so hurt —I said almost crying too.

—Are you crying? —he asked, laughing between weeps.

—I don't know! My hormones are crazy lately! —I said, laughing and wiping my tears—. My period must be close!

Wilmer burst out laughing.

—Thank you for supporting me all this time... —he told me looking me in my eyes.

—shh... —I placed my index finger into his lips making him get silent—. Don't need to thank —I added, kissing him.
