01:15, 25 July 2016Demi's POV
I tried to avoid Wilmer at all costs that morning at school, praying for the hangover not let him remember a lot about last night, specifically, about me being damn drank and kissing his neck.
The first strategy I used to prevent our meet up, was not going upstairs to pick up my students, because I certainly knew he would be there picking up his. So I arrived at the school and I went upstairs to my classroom straight away.
—Morning, Miss Lovato! —Jake, Evans and his friends shouted when they entered the classroom.
—Good morning guys! —I replied while all my students were getting in.
—Hi, Miss Demi. —Alexa one of the most gossiping little girls I have ever met waved at me—. Did you come late today? You didn't go upstairs to pick us up.
—No, but I had something to prepare for our first class. —I lied—. Come on guys, sit down properly! —I shouted clapping and walking around the classroom—. School has already started, okay? Take your writing notebooks you're going to write some Haiku poems in pairs.
An hour and a half later, they had already written their poems so I decided to select some of them to go up to the blackboard. Some of them happily and some of them nervous, they read their writing and I have to say I was quite surprised of the great work they had done.
—I'm amazed guys! You've done a pretty cool work! —I encouraged my little 7 years old— Give them to me so I can correct them, please.
At that moment, the ring bell that notified us about the break time rang, and all the children stood up crazy and ran to the door.
—Guys! Don't forget to let your poems on my desk! —I tried to remember them before the classroom went empty.
Wilmer's POV
The morning had gone and I hadn't seen Demi yet. It wasn't that I was too excited to see her, but even though I didn't remember much about the night, I really had fun and thanks to her I didn't spend another depressing night alone. It was cool and I wanted to thank her.
I was starting to worry about the kiss she gave me. It was strange we hadn't met up in the whole morning, because our classes were opposite one another and it was strange she didn't come to pick her students... And the only reason I thought she could be avoiding me it was because she was probably feeling embarrassed of kissing me... But I didn't mind, I knew we both were drunk, so it was forgotten. I wasn't going to let a kiss ruin the friendship I thought it was starting to happen.
The hunger I felt got me out of my negative thoughts, it was lunch time. I took my bag and I left my classroom to go downstairs to the teachers' dining room, wishing not to have my meal alone, and maybe finding Demi there.
—Hello —I said, getting it the room, quite shyly.
—Oh, hello! —some teacher's of other grades waved at me.
I heated up my macaroni in the microwave and I sit down next to them to eat.
—My name is Kelsey, four grader's teacher! —One of them introduced herself when I stabbed some macaroni and took them into my mouth.
—Nice to meet you, Kelsey! —I replied nervously and swallowing them as fast as I could.
—We're Dave, Sarah and Jane —the teachers sat next to Kelsey added.
—Hello! Nice to meet you too!
—How are your first days going? —Kelsey asked me nicely.
—They... they are going okay. Children are being very nice to me, it's insane.
—Oh! Wish they were like that all the time! —She patted my back— wait until your class becomes a friendly environment and your students go through the roof! —she winked at me.
I laughed at her comment because it was my first year being a teacher in Texas, but I had already been a teacher in Venezuela before, and I knew what teaching to children was.
—Do you have any co-workers? —Jane asked while eating.
—Yes, Demetria Lovato. She's the teacher of the other class of second graders —I reply.
—Oh! She's very nice! I was going to tell you to count on us anytime you needed anything, but she's great! She will help you! —Dave told me happily.
—Anyway, we are here if you need us! —Sarah added, smiling.
I thanked them for being nice to me when I finished my meal. Then I washed my Tupper and I stood up ready to go back to my classroom.
Demi's POV
After lunch time we had the last lesson of the day, reading lesson. Children were very restless, already smelling the time to leave school. I had prepared some texts to read, but seeing how they wouldn't calm down, I decided to change my idea.
—Guys, listen up! —I shouted— I see you're tired, but we need to read anyway. What if we decide a book to read among all?
—Can we read a book from the "100 Enchanted Stories" book, Miss Demi? —Shayleen one of my cute students asked me.
—of course, my dear! —I replied to her— choose one and we'll read!
—22nd chapter Miss Lovato!!!!
—22nd everybody?? —I asked and they all nodded— Okay, give me three minutes to take photocopies! —I added leaving the classroom.
I left the room and I went to the photocopier which was between me and Wilmer's classroom. I put the book into it and I prepared the machine to get the number of copies I needed for my students.
—Good afternoon, Miss Lovato! —I heard Wilmer say— you're a sight for sore eyes! —he joked.
I couldn't believe I had gotten to avoid him the whole day and I had to see him when it was only an hour left to leave school.
—Hello, Mr. Valderrama, what are you doing here? —I replied to him, trying for him not to notify my lack of comfort.
—The same thing you do. —he smiled, showing to me a book he had on his hands.
—Great! I'm finishing soon!
—I wanted to thank you for yesterday —he suddenly said softly—. I had so much fun and dinner was delicious... It was the best day since I moved from Venezuela.
I was with my back towards him so I smiled to myself when I heard that.
—I had fun too... Well, that's what I think because the hangover doesn't let me remember a lot about yesterday —I laughed and tried to convince him about my memory loss of our kiss.
—I hope we can do it again soon! —he kept talking— Of course, as FRIENDS. —he emphasized the "FRIENDS" word.
I took my photocopies and I turned around to see his face. Why wouldn't we hang out again, as friends? That'd be cool.
—I'm in! Just, please, no alcohol next time? —I suggested making Wilmer laugh and putting my hand into my sore head.
Suddenly Evans my stirrer student put his head out of the door and saw us, talking.
—So... see you maybe this weekend? —Wilmer suggested.
—Maybe... —I winked at him.
—MR. VALDERRAMA AND MISS LOVATO HAVE AN AFFAIR!!!!!!!!!! MR. VALDERRAMA AND MISS LOVATO HAVE AN AFFAIR!!!!!!!!!! MR. VALDERRAMA AND MISS LOVATO HAVE AN AFFAIR!!!!!!!!!! —he screamed through the hallways.
—Oh no, not again! —I whispered— Evans! Shut up!! Come here right now!!—I yelled while approaching him.
