XI: A Distant Memory

After the Calamity

Link walked nervously to the last terminal that he knew would release another ganon if he rose his Sheikah slate to it. He realized that fear wouldn't help him at this point, so he took a deep breath and swallowed his terror. Link unleashed the beast.

After fatal fighting, it was evident that Windblight Ganon was no match for Link. His guns and tornadoes were easily evaded by Link's flawless speed. With every exchange of a weapon, the creature was brutally beaten down and terminated by Link. The Chosen Hero defeated the evil being with little struggle. 

Link retrieved a memory of Revali. He could tell that Revali never liked him much, but Link knew that he could now count on him. He took Revali's gale with wonder and gratitude.

After taking in the massive feat he had overcome, Link returned to Rito Village to talk to the elder. He walked up the winding stairs that eventually led to the last house in the village. 

"Oh-ho!" the elder exclaimed. "Champion's descendant, you have done it! Many Rito have attempted to defeat Vah Mehdoh, yet only you have proven victorious. We cannot thank you enough." The Rito bowed his head and offered Link treasures he had kept hidden in the village.

"It was said," began the elder, "That long ago, the hero and the princess traveled here many times. The last time the princess had come to warn Revali. 'The calamity could happen at anytime now,' she had said. I, of course, was not the elder at the time, but the princess seemed very dedicated to protecting Hyrule. She made sure that Revali was too. She told him to be prepared, for the calamity was on the rise and could happen at any second."

Link listened intently to the elder, taking in everything he said. He may have never talked, but he was a good listener. He couldn't remember much, but he had a distant memory of traveling there with her. However, he wasn't sure if it was real or if he was making it up, because the idea was far too vague.

Link remembered the message Zelda had sent him at Goron City. There wasn't much time left, so he knew he had to continue onward to Gerudo Town. Traveling brought him peace- it felt like he was closer to Zelda when he did. He didn't know why he felt that way, but it felt... right.
