Chapter 1
23:26, 9 April 2020"Jotaro? What on earth are you doing here?" Kakyoin asked, eyes wide in bewilderment. He was about to head home for the day, but the sight of his old friend made him stop dead in his tracks. Jotaro chuckled dryly at this.
"I could ask you the same, Kakyoin" Jotaro replied with the slightest hint of amusement in his tone. After a second of collecting himself, Kakyoin responded ever so calmly.
"I just so happen to work here. Let's take this to my office" he said and motioned for Jotaro to follow him. Once in his office, Kakyoin sat down at his desk while Jotaro opted to stand in front of the heavy piece of furniture. Kakyoin let out a small sigh and looked at his friend.
"Jotaro, what brings you here?"
"It's a long story. Anyway, since you're here, I suppose she is too. I guess congratulations are in order" Jotaro said, his words laced with bitterness. Kakyoin could only cock his head in confusion.
"Congratulations? On what exactly?" but before Jotaro could answer, footsteps were heard outside the door, and it flung open, revealing none other than Molly.
"Kakyoin, you weren't in the-" she began, but stopped when she saw the tall, white coated figure in front of the desk. Slowly he turned his head, and their gazes met. Molly's heart was caught in her throat, her eyes were wide, like a deer caught in headlights. Why is he here? Was the only thought that echoed in her head, until the instinct to run made itself present, much like all those years ago on the school rooftop.
"I'll-I'll just wait outside" she said while hastily backing out the room, and closing the door. She just stood there for a while, collecting herself. Why is he here? Five years, and now he decides to show up? She shook her head, it didn't matter. Honestly, she had never expected to see him again, but knowing that he at least was alive made her let out a sigh of relief.
Her and Kakyoin were supposed to walk home together, but she couldn't put herself through seeing, much less talking to Jotaro, so she opted to just get out of there. Kakyoin was a big boy, he could manage by himself. She started walking away, but didn't make it far before she ran into Josuke.
"Oh, Amane-sensei, I was looking for you actually" he started all chipper, but when he noticed the solemn look on her face he grew concerned.
"Sensei, is everything alright?" he asked worriedly, looking right into her powder blue eyes. At 180 cm he had to lower his head quite a bit to be on eye level with Molly's 160 cm. She mustered a half-hearted smile.
"Oh, Higashikata-kun... Please don't worry about me, I'm just a little bit... overwhelmed"
"Sensei, please call me Josuke! And I can't help but worry when a pretty girl is upset!" he said dramatically, causing Molly to giggle. Josuke had a way of cheering people up. He grinned goofily, a little bit of red tinting his cheeks. Uwaah, Amane-sensei is so cute~ he thought to himself. He then caught sight of something behind Molly, squinting his eyes to see a familiar figure at the end of the hallway.
"Oi, Jotaro-san!" he shouted and waved his arm to catch his attention. Molly flinched, how does Josuke know Jotaro? Wait, that's not important, I need to go she thought as slight panic crept into her features.
"Josuke-kun, I'm actually in a hurry so I'll be leaving now. See you tomorrow" she said with a nervous smile and slight wave of her hand. With that she hurried down the stairs and out of the old building.
Josuke had shouted an eager see ya after her, and was now left in a daze as he realised that she had called him Josuke-kun. Red tinted his cheeks as Jotaro slowly approached him, his trademark scowl plastered on his face. For some reason he looked extra sour today, Josuke wondered why. He was now standing right in front of Josuke, eyes boring into his.
"How do you know Molly?" Jotaro asked with what Josuke interpreted as annoyance in his voice. He blinked a few times, still confused with the sudden hostility.
"Amane-sensei? She's my homeroom teacher. How do you know her, Jotaro-san?" he shot back at him with a quirked eyebrow. Jotaro sighed an pinched the bridge of his nose.
"That's none of your business" Jotaro grumbled, Josuke was about to retort when he saw Kakyoin walk up to them. Jotaro looked at the redhead and spoke.
"Kakyoin, Josuke. Josuke, Kakyoin. Although I'm guessing you already knew that much about each other" Jotaro murmured. Kakyoin glanced at Josuke.
"You're Higashikata from Molly's class. But how are you two related?" Kakyoin looked back and forth between the two Joestars. Josuke grinned in response.
"I'm his uncle" came Josuke's answer, and Jotaro "tched" in annoyance. Kakyoin just stared at them dumbfounded. Jotaro then went on to explain the reason he was there to Kakyoin, who nodded occasionally and listened. Kakyoin was quick to offer his help in stand related matters, but when he suggested they let Molly know, Jotaro was quick to comment.
"No, she won't be involved in this" came his stern reply. Kakyoin sighed.
"She's bound to find out, Jotaro. It'd be better to tell her now" he tried reasoning with the marine biologist, but to no avail.
"She will not be dragged into this" he repeated, this time more like a warning. Josuke decided to voice his confusion at this point.
"Noriaki-sensei, why would Amane Sensei need to know in the first place?" Oh. Right. Josuke didn't know that she, too, had a stand.
"She's got a stand too" Kakyoin muttered while looking out one of the many windows that decorated the wall.
"Eh!? She's got a stand too!? That's amazing!" Josuke exclaimed excitedly, which caused Jotaro's frustration to rise.
"Yes, she has a stand, and she will play absolutely no part in this" Jotaro once again reminded sourly. Josuke was still a little confused, why was he so reluctant with letting her on board? Kakyoin had a hunch, and while he didn't want to see her get hurt either, he thought she at least deserved to know. But he had no plans to fight Kujo Jotaro, his temper might have improved the slightest with the years, but Kakyoin took no chances.
"Fine, but when she finds out, I'm going to blame you" Kakyoin muttered.
"Good fucking grief"
