Chapter 10

07:43, 25 June 2022

"I don't know about this, Sarah." I heard Zak softly say from behind me, hesitant to go down with me.

"I have to, it's calling me down here." I replied to him as I turned around, looking into his worry filled eyes.

He sighed as he started down the stairs after me. My heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest because of how hard it was beating, causing Zak to worry even more about me. As my foot touched the cement ground in the basement, I heard a deep growl come from just a couple feet in front of me.

"Sarah, that didn't sound good." He softly said, a slight tone of fear in his voice.

"You heard it too?" I asked, snapping my head around in disbelief, looking him in the eyes.

"Yes. Anyone would have heard that. Look, I think it is best if we get out of here and come back with a priest tomorrow to cleanse it just in case."

I turned my head around, looking around the basement, agreeing with Zak that we needed to leave and wait for the priest when I noticed what looked to be the start of a black line on the ground. I walked a little closer to it, moving a table that was covering it out of the way when I let out an audible gasp.

"I think you're probably right." I said softly, fear gripping my voice.

"Sarah, come on lets go." Zak said, reaching his hand out for me to grasp.

As I grabbed his hand and started towards the stairs, I felt a severe burning radiating throughout my back. I winced in pain, slowing down my walk up the stairs causing Zak to turn around and check on me.

"What happened? Are you okay?" He asked me, pulling me close to him.

"My back. It's burning really bad. I feel like I can't breathe." I responded breathlessly.

Zak hurried me up the stairs, slamming the secret door behind him, spinning me around and lifting the back of my shirt. I heard him gasp and run his fingers down my spine. I knew it couldn't be good if it was scaring him.

"What is it?" I asked him, kind of irritated that he hasn't already told me at this point.

"You have three scratches going from your neck all the way down to the bottom of your spine. Baby, we need to get you to a priest." He responded to me, rushing me out the door.

"It hurts so bad."

Tears were streaming down my face as the pain got more intense as he got me out of the house and into his truck. He put the car in drive, screeching the tires as he took off down the road towards the cathedral. I was scared, beyond belief, and I could tell that Zak was too based on how he was driving. As he pulled into the church parking lot, my body had pain shoot through it from my head all the way down to my knees. I screamed out in pain as Zak gently got me out of the truck, carrying me to the front doors of the church. It felt like every bone in my body was beginning to crack and break as he opened the door, yelling for the priest to come to us. I remember seeing a man dressed in all black come running out from a back room, a cross in hand.

'What happened to her?" The man asked as Zak set me down in a chair, keeping his hands on my shoulders.

"We bought a new house because we are turning it into the museum, and she said she felt and heard someone calling her to some secret door. When she opened the door, there was a staircase leading down and I even felt that something was not right and tried to talk her out of it but she wouldn't listen and kept going. When she turned around to face me, her eyes had a red hue to them and a devilish grin was on her face. She moved a table in the basement after we heard a growl, revealing a pentagram painted on the floor. She felt a burning sensation on her back and I saw three scratch marks going from her neck all the way down her spine. She has been screaming out in pain since we left that house." Zak blurted out, trying to keep me calm and comfort me. I swear I saw tears welling in his eyes due to the worry I was causing him.

"Zak, I believe something is attempting to take over her body. She's fighting it you can clearly tell that by her behavior. I can save her, but you may not want to be in here while I perform the exorcism."

"I am not leaving her."
