Chapter 38

05:29, 8 April 2015

The next week, we were headed to Kendall's place since we were leaving the next morning for Colorado and his place was closer to the airport. We picked some stuff for the night. We made pizza and ended up getting ingredients everywhere on the floor. After we cleaned up, we went to bed. I barely slept from thinking so much about the next day. I laid in his bed as he slightly snored. I couldn't take it anymore, so I got out of the bed and went onto the balcony of his bedroom. I sat with a blanket in one of the chairs as the horizon glowed from the soon rising sun. I was going crazy from this all. I emailed my mom the day we bought plane tickets, and she said it wasn't the 'best timing' but she'd 'fit me' in she supposed. I laid back in the chair and watched the lights below of the city and the early risers who got to work early every morning to beat traffic. I wrapped the blanket around my body as the chill of the morning darkness was chilling me to the bone.

"Can't sleep?" Kendall's voice asked as a camera snap sounded. I looked up at him in his pants only and shirtless with his phone in hand taking a picture of me. He nodded and gestured to move over. "If you can't, then I won't." He said pulling me onto his lap, I'm assuming so he could be under the blanket as well.

"I'm nervous." I told him as the sunrise was a little more orange rather than blue. Kendall held me to him as he tucked my head under his chin.

"I know. Me too. But we'll be going into this together." He said kissing my head. "This is beautiful." He said after a few moments of silence.

"It is, the colors are so vibrant." I agreed with him. He shook his head.

"That is too, but I meant this. You, me, together and in love this early in the morning. It's gorgeous." He told me as his chest vibrated to match his voice.

"You're beautiful." I told him. "Body like a God, a smile that steals my heart every time I see it, eyes that feel my every mood and can make my soul dance, and a heart that beats in sync with mine." I said feeling our hearts beat in unison. He sighed and put his hand over my heart. He closed his eyes.

"Wanna know what I see when I'm with you?" He asked, I stayed quiet as he continued shortly. "I see a girl who can stop my heart all together with a single tear in her eyes where her old soul lives. I feel a heart that loves me more than I deserve. I can feel someone who loves me for my soul, and I feel a love like this doesn't ever die, it lives on for eternity." Kendall whispered all while his eyes were closed and ice he opened them I felt shivers run down my spine.

"Whoa, you should, like, write songs." I teased him, making him laugh. We laughed for a good moment and then settled back in comfortable silence again. "I feel we were destined to meet each other." I told him.

"I feel we were." He said confidently. "I feel we were meant for each other." He said. I leaned back and soon fell asleep in his arms. Somehow I was at complete ease now being in his arms.

We soon woke up to the alarm inside. We both stretched and kissed each other. We showered and changed. It was winter, but in California that means something a lot different than Colorado winter. I put on a long sleeved dark grey sweater dress that has slits up to the thigh but grazed the floor. I wore light grey sweater leggings under it however, with black flat boots. I straightened my blonde hair and put on bright red lipstick. My makeup was neutral with a bold cat eye liner. I put on my glasses, and we were good. Kendall had on a black long sleeved shirt with an olive colored cardigan, black skinny jeans, and black boots. We were then out the door. Kendall had our suitcase which he was carrying on and I had our passports, tickets, and whatever else for my carry on which was my purse. We were set for a day or two away. I started to feel sick in the taxi. I wanted to seriously turn back but I knew Kendall would think I was faking it so I wouldn't have to go. We got to the airport and checked in. I then sat down in one of the chairs and felt as if I was sweating up a storm.

"Babe, you okay? You're more pale than usual." He said. We were early to the airport so we'd be sitting here for a good two hours and longer if it's delayed, since Colorado is so temperamental when it comes to it's weather.

"I'm just going to use the restroom, okay?" I said handing him my bag as he nodded and watched concerned as I walked away. I got to the bathroom just in time before I lost my whole stomach contents. I didn't even care that the stall door was open for any woman to see in on me bent over the toilet. I recovered enough to get up and go to the mirror. God, I was awful looking. Just then a woman walked in with a young baby on her hip and a little pregnant belly.

"Oh, excuse me honey." She said cheerily. Too cheery for being this early and also a mother of a baby that young. She then looked around the stalls. "Uhm, sweetie, may I ask you something?" She asked me. I nodded not wanting to speak at that moment. "Has someone gotten sick in here recently? Do you know?" She asked me. I nodded.

"Yeah." I said barely since my throat burned from act I had just taken part in.

"You?" She asked, moving her baby up higher on her side. I nodded with a weak smile. "Oh, honey. How far along are you?" She asked me. I furrowed my brow.

"Far along? I'm not pregnant." I said thinking this was the most ridiculous idea she could've ever had about me. She sucked in her lip and smiled.

"Oh, you don't know yet. Well, honey. Let me tell you, after four kids and a fifth on the way, I can tell you that you don't have food poisoning." She smiled and then pulled down the baby changing table while starting to change the baby. I looked in the mirror. I'm, what? I looked at my face, normal looking but a tad sweaty from vomiting. I looked at my torso, normal. I looked at my stomach, not normal now that I thought about it.

"Excuse me, miss." I said pulling my dress around my abdomen. She nodded while wrapping up the dirty diaper she took off her daughter.

"Yes hon?" She asked smiling then at me. I closed my eyes.

"Do I really look pregnant?" I asked her. She snorted.

"Okay, what's your name sweetie?" She asked me while powdering her daughter before putting a new diaper on her.

"Sophia." I told her.

"Okay, Sophia. I'm Grace. This here is Maggie. Now, Maggie is my fourth baby. Little Matthew is going to be my fifth. I've been through many pregnancies and all different from the others. The other three are out with their father. I've been through what you just went through. You had magical sex a few weeks ago, your body felt a little weird since then, you think your period is just late and don't keep track of your menstrual cycle carefully. You are now entering the morning sickness time of the pregnancy. I have a test if you'd like to take it, I always carried one around when we were trying for little Matthew, but obviously that worked." She said digging in her diaper bag and handing me a box. I swallowed hard. I sighed.

"Thanks." I told her. She nodded.

"Is the daddy out there?" She asked ask walked towards the stalls. I looked back at her numbly. I nodded. "I'll stay here with you." She assured me as Maggie was now back on her hip and looking sleepy. Maggie was such a cutie.

I went into the same stall I had been in earlier and did my business. I walked back out with the test in the box again. I sat it on the counter and then leaned my elbows on the sink. Could I really be? That's, it's just, no. It can't be. Didn't we use protection? No, not the night Kevin caught us in the hallway. That night we didn't. But that was one night. I couldn't get pregnant that one night? Yes, yes I could. I put my face in my hands.

"Sophia, it's okay. The daddy is still in your life, you just have to tell him. How long have you been married?" She asked. I cleared my throat and looked up at her in the mirror.

"We aren't married. We have been dating for several months, I think ten maybe." I swallowed and started to nervous sweat. She was quiet a moment.

"Honey, I think you'll be fine. He is a nice guy to be with for ten months so I think you'll be fine." She assured me. I nodded. He said he wanted kids when we were at his parents. But maybe he meant later. When it was planned.

"Sophia, it's been five minutes I think you're okay to look now." She told me. I looked at her and then at the box. My mouth was dry and I couldn't breathe. "Or would you like me to look and then tell you the results?" She asked. I nodded. She smiled kindly and then looked at Maggie.

"Could you sweetie?" She asked telling me to take the sleeping baby from her arms. I nodded and took the baby and held her like her mom had just been holding her. Grace opened the box again and took out the test with a paper towel she grabbed. She looked at it and then started to open her mouth when a knock on the door startled us.

"Soph? Babe? You okay?" Kendall's voice asked. I almost jumped out of my skin. Grace looked at the door and then showed me the test.

"I'm fine, just finishing up in here." I hollered from the counter. Grace put the test back in the box and threw it away. I handed Maggie back to her and then looked at her expression. She was silently congratulating me.
