I look at my phone. "Jace it's 9 o'clock and I'm tired so you better get going." I say yawing.
His phone dings. He looks at his phone then he looks at me.
"Sam come on let's go." Jace says
I tilt my head. "Go where?"
He grabs my wrist and pulls me with him as he opens my window and climbs out.
"Sam I can't believe you didn't tell me you had a huge tree outside your window. This is awesome!" Jace whisper yells.
I give him a confused look. "How is having a tree outside my window awesome?"
Jace winks at me then leaps out the window and lands perfectly on the tree.
I gasp with amazement. "Jace how'd you do that?"
Jace laughs. "Do what? All I did was jump?"
I laugh. "Whatever. Stop playing around and get off that tree before you hurt yourself."
Jace grins."I'm not leaving without you."
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"Jump."
I laugh. "Jace is this one of your jokes?"
"No. I'm serious Sam. Come on, jump." Jace says bluntly.
I cross my arms. "There is no way I'm jumping."
Jace grunts. "Why not?"
"What do you mean why not? It's like a 3 feet jump Jace." I shrug.
Jace runs his fingers threw his hair. "Just do it. I'll catch you. I promise."
I shake my head no. "I'm not Jumping."
Jace rolls up his sleeves. "Sam, don't you wanna be able to look back on this moment when you're old and be able to say you had the guts to jump?"
I hesitate for a moment blown away by what he just said.
I take a deep breath. "Are you sure you'll catch me?"
Jace grins. "If I don't catch you I promise to take you to the hospital."
I smile. "Jace!"
He laughs. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding."
I take another deep breath "I don't know about this Jace. I'm scared."
"Don't you trust me?"
I hesitate a for a moment and then I nod my head yes.
Wow I trust Jace.
"On the count of three I want you too jump." Jace says.
I nod my head then I climb out of the window and prop myself up on the window seal. I slowly turn around and close the window. Then I turn and look at Jace.
"Okay Sam just don't look down." Jace says.
I look down. "Too late for that." I shudder.
Jace laughs. " I told you not to look down."
"I'm kind of scared Jace."
"Sam it's okay just don't look down again. Umm, uh, focus on me! Just look into my eyes and jump when I tell you too."
I nod my head and then I stare into his eyes. I never noticed how pretty they were. Wow.
"Okay so one..two...three!"
As soon as I hear three I jump and for the few seconds I'm in the air I feel like a bird flying threw the sky. Before I know it I'm wrapped in Jace's arms. I feel safe in his arms. Wow he actually caught me.
I keep my arms locked around his waist until I hear his voice.
"Sam you know you can let go right?" Jace says laughing a little bit.
I snap out of what I was in and let go of Jace.
I awkwardly laugh "oh right, sorry"
"It's cool."
"Now Jace how are we gonna get down from here? Please don't tell me we have to jump again" I ask nervously
"The tree has steps" Jace says
"What? Trees don't have steps." I say.
"Well this one does. The people that lived in your house before you probably were planning on making a tree house, so they made the steps and then probably forgot about the tree house..." Jace says pointing to the "steps" on the tree.
"You got all that from seeing steps on a tree?"
He laughs. "Pretty much."
I laugh.
"Well come on let's go Sam." Jace says
"Go where?" I ask
"You'll see. Just follow me." Jace says while dragging me down the steps on the tree.
Steps on a tree? What a coincidence.
Once we're on the ground I follow Jace and we quietly get into his car. Jace starts the car and we pull away.
***
Soon we pull up to this huge house with a whole bunch of cars parked in front of it. There's loads of teenagers running around the front yard and there's music playing at full volume. There's beer bottles scattered in the front yard and people making out on top of cars.
Oh my gosh...his is a party.
Jace stops the car and looks at me. He grins. "Well Sam welcome to your first party."
"Whose party is this?"
"My football friend Danny's. The whole high school is here. This party is lit." Jace says.
My heart drops. "So does that mean Billy is here?"
Jace grins. "Let's get in there and find out."
I gulp. "I'm nervous."
"Just be cool." Jace says.
I nod my head.
Jace gets out of the car and walks straight into the sea of wild party people. I follow him and as I watch him greet everyone he passes by, I realize just how popular he actually is.
Once we get into the house my ear drums burst. The music is super loud. It's trashy everywhere and there's not one empty spot in the house because it's so crowded. The house is super big.
I follow Jace into the kitchen and watch him greet more people.
I turn around and look behind me this party is so wild. Danny's parents need to come back home.
I turn back around and look in the kitchen and Jace is no where to be found. Nice. I guess football player guys just take dorky girls to crazy parties and abandon them.
I can't believe I trusted him.
I'm basically a lost puppy without Jace. I need to find him. I walk out of the house and go straight to the back yard. I cover my mouth in shock of what I'm looking at.
There's naked girls swimming in the pool and there's guys cheering them to fight. Wow. I quickly walk back into the house. I need some peace and quiet. I walk up stairs and start searching for a bathroom, it's bound to be quiet in a bathroom right?
I finally find a bathroom and then I walk in. I immediately start screaming and shut the door. Woah, I will never un-see what I just saw.
I've got to find Jace right now.
I walk downstairs shoving my way through crowds of people. I should go look where he was when I lost him. I walk threw the living room and make my way to the kitchen. As soon as I walk in the kitchen my jaw drops.
There's some guy on top of the kitchen table dancing with a box on his head and there's a hole in the box where his mouth is.
I watch the guy dance until someone hands him a beer. He grabs it, opens it and starts pouring it into his mouth threw the hole in the box.
He chugs down that beer and someone hands him another and he chugs it down even faster than the last one. He goes one after other. Chugging and Chugging and Chugging. I can't imagine how drunk he's feeling right now.
I'm sure he's had about 10 beers by now. I watch him throw the last bottle on the ground and when someone tries to hand him another he refuses to drink it. I can tell he's done drinking by the way he's stumbling on top of the table.
Who is this kid? He's legendary. He's by far the life of the party.
He gets off the table and high fives everyone. He stumbles to the nearest couch and sits down. He takes the box off of his head and my jaw drops...
It's Jace.
I run over to him and sit down next to him on the couch.
"What the fuck Jace are you okay?" I say
He gives me a dazed look. "Hey girly I'm dandy as can be."
Wish this isn't normal Jace. This is drunk Jace.
"Jace your drunk." I say taking deep breath.
He grabs a piece of my hair and starts twirling it. "Who cares if I'm drunk we can still have a play date Sam."
I roll my eyes. "Jace come on I've got to get you home."
He grabs my shirt and pulls me closer and whispers in my ear "But baby I don't wanna go home."
I push him away. "Jace we need to get home it's midnight."
He drunkly laughs "So does midnight mean Middle of the night?"
I hold my nose as he talks, his breath reeks of alcohol. "Jace come on let's go."
I grab his wrist and pull him off the couch he stubbles all over the place. I realize he can't walk because he's so drunk. I grab his arm and swing it around my shoulder.
Once I have him propped up I start walking with him. As we leave the party he greets everyone with a goodbye and a dirty complement.
As soon as we get outside my heart drops because Jace is my ride home and he can't drive because he's drunk.
What I'm I supposed to do now? I can't drive I only have a learners permit.
I walk over to the steps on the front porch and sit down. I sit Jace next to me and try to make him sit up but it's no use. He lays his head on my lap and doesn't say anything.
I think about moving him but I decide not to because he looks so peaceful.
"So you and Jace are a thing now?"
I look to my left and I see Billy sitting right next to me.
Be yourself Samantha, it'll be alright just talk to him.
I laugh and look down at Jace sleeping on my lap. "Oh no we're just good friends that's it."
Billy laughs. "Well you seem like a really good friend. Jace always comes to these parties and gets drunk and always ends up in really big trouble. But tonight I think he's gonna be alright because he's got you."
I blush a little and then I touch Jace's hair. It's so soft I'm jealous. "Yeah he's a pretty good guy around me."
"That's because your a pretty good girl." Billy says.
I smile. "Thanks."
"No problem." He says.
I look at my phone it's 1AM. Time goes by so fast I'm shook.
"Well Billy I'd better get going ya know being a good friend and all, I gotta get Jace home." I say smiling.
He laughs. "Bye Samantha. See you around."
I get up and grab Jace and prop him up again. I walk over to his car and put him in the passenger seat.
I go through his pockets and get his keys. I only have my learners permit but it'll have to do for tonight.
I get in the front seat and start the car. I look over at Jace in the passenger seat dazed.
"Jace where do you live?" I ask
Jace giggles. "I don't know."
I roll my eyes. "Of course you don't know."
I use the GPS built in his car and program it for home. Home has gotta mean Jace's house because it's his car.

•AT JACE'S HOUSE•
As soon as I pull into Jace's driveway I look over at Jace to make sure he's still alive.
I turn off the car and take a deep breath. I get out of the car and drag Jace out of the car. I grab his keys and open his front door.
It's super dark and super quiet in his house it sounds like nobody is home. I turn on the light and start searching for Jace's room.
It must be upstairs. I balance Jace up and walk him with me as I walk up the stairs. I check all the rooms until I find one that I'm sure is Jace's.
I lay him on his bed and take a deep breath. I sit next to him and almost gag because he reeks of alcohol.
I shake him. "Jace go take a shower."
He moans. "I'm tirrrrred."
"Just go do it. I don't want you to get in trouble." I say.
He groans and then he gets up and goes into his bathroom. After awhile I hear the water cut on so I assume he's taking a shower.
10 minutes later...
Jace comes out of the bathroom wearing shorts and a T-shirt. I walk up to him and smell him. I take a deep breath thank god he's clean.
Jace crawls in his bed and covers himself up. He falls straight to sleep. A huge weight lifts off of my shoulders. I can finally go home and go to sleep.
I walk up to Jace and smile. "Ya know even though this night was pretty terrible I still had fun, goodnight Jace." I whisper.
I turn of all the lights and leave Jace's house. Yay! I have to walk home because my ride is drunk that should be fun.
Not.

•AT SAMANTHA'S HOUSE•
By the time I reach my house it's 3AM and my legs are sore. I'm extremely tired. I quickly unlock the door and go up to my room.
I take a shower and put on my pajamas. After that I curl up in my bed and fall fast asleep..
