•IN SCIENCE CLASS•

So far everything's been good today at school. It's been normal and I haven't seen normal in a long time.

I look over at Jace sitting next to me. Being his lab partner isn't that bad. He's just really annoying sometimes.

"Hey Sam so are you sure you don't wanna skip studying today and go back to the mall? Ya know you loved it there." Jace says while nudging my shoulder.

"For the last time you're studying today it's for your own good." I say sternly.

"Oh yeah well about that..." Jace says nervously scratching the back of his head "...yesterday my math test came in the mail and let's just say that now you'll be tutoring me in two subjects."

I face palm. "Jace I think your actually really smart but you fail your test on purpose because you think it's cool, but it's not Jace. You have to really start passing these test because if you don't it could really cost you your future."

Jace laughs ands says something under is breath.

I give him a serious look "Jace what's so funny? And what did you just murmur?"

He continues laughing "I don't think you'd care why I was failing my test..."

I tilt my head "Why wouldn't I care?"

He stops laughing and looks me in my eyes "You just wouldn't okay."

I shrug my shoulders. If he doesn't want to tell me I won't keep asking him about it.

"So what subject do you wanna study today History or Math?" I ask.

"Um, I don't know. Nath?" Jace says.

I nod my head. I take out my book and start reading.

"So today I've really been thinking about some things, and I've decided that you're all mature teenagers and you should be able to choose your own lab partners. You don't have to switch if you don't want to. You all have 5 minutes to switch lab partners starting now." Mr. Griffin says.

Everyone gets up and moves around. I continue reading. I already know Jace is gonna leave me for one of his football friends.

As I read I continue to hear people moving around and talking but I stay where I am and wait for my new lab partner.

"Times up everyone settle down." Mr. Griffin says.

I look up from my book and look to my side. It's Jace. He's still my lab partner why didn't switch?

Jace puts out his hand. "Nice to meet you my name is Jace Norman and I'm your new lab partner."

I blush and shake his hand. "I'm Samantha Johnson."

He smiles. "Well hello Sam."

I grin. "That's not my name."

"I could've sworn that's was the name I read on your birth certificate though?" Jace scrunches up his face.

I laugh. "Shut up. Why didn't you switch lab partners?" I ask.

"Because since I'm your personality couch I kinda sorta thought that we need to be lab partners, so I can couch you in science class ya know if I needed to for some reason." Jace says.

"Good excuse." I say air clapping.

Mindy walks over to our lab station and stares at me.

She crosses her arms. "Jace get up and come be my lab partner."

I look at Jace. "You can be her lab partner if you want I don't mind."

"Yeah Jace Similla doesn't care. Now get up and come sit by me." Mindy demands.

"It's Samantha. My name is Samantha." I say.

"Sam I'm your lab partner. No one else's." Jace says.

For some reason chills rush down my spin. I can't believe he just that.

Mindy gives Jace an evil look. "Jace I'm waiting for you to get up. So get up."

"Mindy sit down right now." Mr. Griffin says sternly.

Mindy glares at me. "This isn't over."

I watch her walk away and then I turn to Jace. I stare at him and observe all his features on his face. I don't why I do this. Probably just because I'm a really observant person.

He looks at me and laughs awkwardly. "Stop staring dork girl."

"Why are you being like this?" I ask.

"Like what?" he replies.

"I can't explain it but I think it's cool." I smile.

"I'm lit I know." Jace laughs.

"Please no side conversations Samantha and Jace." Mr. Griffin says with a straight face.

I nod my head and focus all my attention to Mr. Griffin's teaching.

I wait until Mr. Griffin is really into his lesson then I turn back to Jace.

"Jace." I whisper.

"Yeah." He whispers back.

"I guess those rumors weren't true." I say.

I see Jace smile out of the corner of my eye. "I told you so."

The bell rings. School is over unfortunately.

I pick up my stuff and head to my locker. Once I gather my stuff I shut my locker. Then I see him. Billy.

I rush out of the school hoping he didn't see me. I grab my bike an get on it. Until I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn around, it's Jace.

Jace looks the bike up and down and then speaks. "Sam what little girl's bike did you steal?"

I give him a evil look. "Ha ha ha very funny."

Jace turns around. "Come on." He says.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"To your house remember? To study?" He says.

I look at my bike and play with the streamers on the handle bars. "I'm gonna ride my bike home."

Jace tilts his head. "No you're not."

I sigh then I get off the bike. Jace walks up to me and picks up the bike.

Once we get to his car he puts the bike in his trunk. I get in passenger seat and Jace gets in and starts the car.

•AT SAMANTHA'S HOUSE•

Jace's car pulls in my drive way. He stops the car and looks at me.

"Ready to meet my mom?" I ask Jace.

He smiles. "Is she nice?"

I take a deep breathe. "She's gonna be extremely over excited when she see's you because your like my first associate I talk to?"

Jace laughs. "I'm not your associate okay? You can call me your friend."

I nod. "Okay. I've never had a friend before how does this work?"

"Friends enjoy everything together it's like un-planned fun most of the time." Jace explains.

I nod again. "Okay I understand. Let's go." I say getting out of the door.

I open the door and Jace and I walk in the house. I lead him to the living room and I see my mom on the couch. She stands up and a big smile comes over her face.

"Oooo Samantha he's cute." My mom says.

I mentally face palm.

I turn to Jace to see he's blushing.

"Mom cut it out, You're making him blush." I say laughing.

"Nah it's cool your mom's nice." Jace says.

"Nice to meet you Jace." My mom say shaking is hand.

"Nice to meet you too Miss. Johnson." Jace says.

My Mom gasps and then winks. "He's cute and he has manners wow."

I grab Jace's wrist. "Come on let's get away from my crazy mom." I say dragging him up on the steps.

Once we get in my room I close the door and Jace sits on my bed.

"Ya know your mom's kinda hot." Jace says.

I laugh. "She's 45 and she's way out of your league chill out."

"So Jace how was your first time studying?" I ask.

"It was less boring than I thought it would be." Jace says. He nudges my shoulder. "Ya know I actually learned a few things."

"That's what studying is for Jace. Your supposed to learn things." I say rolling my eyes.

I look at my phone. "Jace it's 9 o'clock and I'm tired so you better get going." I say yawing.

His phone dings. He looks at his phone then he looks at me.

"Sam come on let's go." Jace says

I tilt my head "Go where?"

He grabs my wrist and pulls my with him as he opens my window and climbs out.

Knowing Jace this is gonna be a crazy night...
