Chapter 35
16:42, 13 April 2021Leila POV
"This feel like it could end up a disaster"
Monica squint's at Marshall as I take another swig out of the bottle of champagne we were sharing "I disagree Marshy"
"Yeah but you two opted for mimosas hold everything but the champagne with breakfast" Marshall said with a raised eyebrow.
"Everyone knows you're much more likely to get injured sober than you would when you're drunk" I shoving my scarf aside.
"Hmm, sounds like famous last words to me" He smirks turning to Alec and then in a sarcastic tone adds "Yo hold my drink, what this"
"Really, what would you know about injury drunk?"
"I'm an ex-alcoholic remember?" Marshall scoffs out of amusement, dressed in a tan parka with brown fur trim, hood down with a grey beanie on, leaning lazily on the snowmobile, his lips twitching "I've broken a wrist before, punched a wall, safe to say being drunk doesn't help the outcome"
"Telling Leila not to something is kinda encouragement to do exactly the opposite" Alec said cooly, with almost a challenging undertone, swinging his beer, sitting back on his snowmobile.
"Whatever" Marshall grunts, straightening up in his seat, starting up the engine "We doin' this or what man?"
"I thought you'd never ask" Alec nods starting his engine "Don't kill yourselves"
"Yeah yeah, enjoy your bromance, keep it above the waists'" I say dismissively waving them off, turning back to Monica as I'm answered by their obnoxious snorts and the roaring sounds of the snowmobile engines disappearing.
I straightened up my jacket as Monica hands me the bottle again, hooking my elbow out so she could link her arm through it and we continue lengthened walk down the trail, as we struggled to walk in a straight line to the slopes set up on the property for tubing.
"Whos going first?" I said taking a swig.
"Wait" Monica explains "Do you think he's right?"
"Of course not" I mumble with a hiccup, breathing in and out slowly to centre my waving gravity "You wanna listen to Daddy, then go for it, but I'm going first"
I sit down in the tube, getting comfortable than looking up at Monica who has a look of disgust across her face.
"Daddy?, I mean I didn't think Marshall would be into that, I mean I... but really?"
"Noooo" I groan "I don't know, it was a joke because he's bossy"
I mean it wasn't a lie, but he did give off that vibe.
He had this dark, intriguing and dangerous side about him that I had seen flashes of, it made my skin tingle, even if I was trying to force myself to not think about it.
"Oh god, thank God, that would have made the rest of this weekend awkward"
I roll my eyes as I push off flying down the slopes, feeling free and at peace, still clutching the bottle of champagne as the freezing wind whipped my hair around my face, hearing Monica screaming behind me.
Coming to a stop at the bottom, laughing as Monica's tube bumped into mine.
"That was amazing" Monica said catching her breath.
"I agree" I said with a grin taking a swig before passing the bottle back to Monica still sitting in our respective tubes "We're running low though"
"Maybe we should head back"
I looked up the slope and groaned.
"What?"
"I forgot we have to walk all the way back up the hill"
"Oh"
"Think the guys will be back looking for us?"
I shrug as the bottle passes back me and I take the remaining champagne "I need to sober up a little before I tackle that hill"
Monica nods and grins at me "So, this morning?"
"No"
"Leila come on, you can't say you two were stuck together all night and doing nothing and ending up like that"
I frowned "That's exactly what happened"
Monica huffed and it was silent between us for the moment.
"We have a bet"
She gave me a confused look "what?"
"Marshall and I have a bet" I said with a nonchalant shrug.
"And that is?"
"Who can seduce the other into bed"
"I, um, excuse me what?"
"Whoever gives in to the other first"
"I get that, but why not just sleep with each other? I mean you both clearly are attract-"
"No because I'm going to win, I give it a few weeks and he'll be begging me"
"You think?"
I nod "Hey, do you wanna do me a favour?"
"What?..."
"Help set him up. I mean I'm good for it but sometimes I may need help getting him alone"
"I don't think that will be an issue somehow... But ok?"
"Thanks"
"Just don't ever call him Daddy in front of me every again, joking or not.."
I let out a good laugh "No problem, I won't"
"He is a really good guy Leila, whatever past I'm beginning to feel like you both may have, I'm sure you would agree he's changed a lot over the years"
----
A roar of engines had interrupted us from our conversation of what we were planning for the week once we for back to Detroit.
"Y'all really been sitting here for an hour?"
I lean my head backwards, Alec and Marshalls faces come into view both standing and leaning over the top of the handlebars of the snowmobiles casually.
"We were having a break, we were contemplating climbing back up the slope to the cabin but now that you're here, We can catch a ride" I say sitting up turning to their direction "Did ya boys have a good ride? It's been a while since I've had a decent ride"
Marshall bits back a laugh "Well get on then Leila"
"Ugh really?"
Monica climbs on the back of Alec's snowmobile, laughing a little too much.
I climb onto the back of Marshall's snowmobile, getting comfortable, placing my arms around his waist, as he began to follow Alec.
"Get ready for the ride of your life" He laughed over his shoulder.
"Can't wait to experience that again" I said with sarcasm.
"What?"
I looked and realised I couldn't see Alec and Monica anymore.
"Did you already get us lost Superman?"
"No, we're taking the scenic route, you said it's been a while"
I frown to myself realizing that being alone with this man wasn't ideal.
"How gentleman-like of you"
I sit involuntarily inhaling his scent, Irish Spring, it made my head spin in an almost euphoric state.
The smell instantly triggering a wave of nostalgia.
"You can trust me"
"What did you say?"
"I said you can trust me" He chuckled, that ever husky velvet tone heavy with amusement "The way you're hanging on to me for deal life makes me feel like you don't trust me"
"Its been a while like I said, just getting my bearings"
With the echoing sound of the roar of the engine through the hollowed woods as we slide along the snow-covered trail, I finally began to acknowledge the snow-covered beauty that surrounded us.
It wasn't long before we pulled up back at the cabin, after Marshall killed the engine I could hear everyone laughing inside as we hopped off the snowmobile.
We made out way towards the entrance of the cabin, walking up the steps.
I suddenly slipped on a patch of ice that had settled on the stair, falling backwards and landing in Marshall's arms.
Holding me, faces inches away from each other, his blue eyes studying my face, dropping to my lips biting his own then lifting his gaze back to my eyes, a wide mischievous grin spreading across his face.
"See, sweeping ya off your feet already"
