Chapter 37
19:09, 20 April 2020Thalia's POV
"I am not used to being summoned by mortals," I growled as I stormed into the meeting room of the Big House. We still had been unable to find Annabeth and I was not in the mood for pesky meetings.
I felt Luke give me a nudge on the shoulder, reminding me to be polite, but I decided to ignore him. It was always fun annoying the mortals, especially when they wake you up when you're just trying to get a little sleep.
Chiron was the first to speak," I called this meeting to discuss our situation. It appears the Gods have returned."
That caught my attention," What do you mean it appears," I asked.
"This morning several campers were claimed by their godly parent, but we have not received word from the Gods yet," Piper explained.
"We have not heard anything about Glitter though, or our missing camper, Jessie," Chiron added.
"Excuse us for a minute," I said as I pulled Luke out with me.
"What are you thinking?" Luke asked me.
"Doesn't this seem a little suspicious to you?" I asked.
"What? That our job is done? That we can go home now?"
"Yeah, that the Gods are released, and we could go home now that our mission is done, but what happened to Glitter? Why has he suddenly vanished?" I ranted.
"Uhh, sorry to interrupt," Grover said as he ran into the room, panting as if he was out of breath.
"Then why are you?" Luke asked with a smile.
Grover didn't even roll his eyes at the comment before managing to cough out," Jessie, escaped."
We didn't stick around to hear anymore. Luke and I were almost out of the building before you could say pinecone. We would have made it out of the building if we hadn't run into a boy headed into the Big House, probably trying to get to Chiron and blow Glitter's identity.
Without even uttering a word, I took off my clock and wrapped it around Jessie's head so no one could see him. We both grabbed him under the arms and dragged him back to our tent.
We might have gotten a few weird looks as we walked by, but this wouldn't have been the first time. Thankfully, we managed to get Jessie back into his room.
After locking the door behind him, Luke went off to tell the soldiers that Jessie had been caught, while I tried to find out how he had escaped.
(A Little Later)
"He hit you on the head with a pillow?" I asked Micheal (Yew).
"He took me by surprise! I thought he was choking!" He tried to defend himself.
"Let me get this straight, You thought he was choking on something, so you unlocked the door, walked in when you couldn't find him, and then let him escape when he hit you on the head with a pillow?" I asked.
"Yes," He said kind of sheepishly.
Shaking my head, I responded," You've made a very grave error Micheal, It could have resulted in a lot of trouble for us. I'm afraid you're going to have to face the consequences."
He realized where I was going and started to beg, " Please, anything but that! Please, I won't do it again!"
"I need to set an example for the others, your punishment soldier, you shall have to do face it with your head held high. I have no choice but to assign you to dish washing duty!" I exclaimed before laughing.
Micheal pouted before replying, "You suck."
"I don't know," Rocky said as she walked in, "Thalia doesn't give out the worse punishments, be glad you didn't get Luke. He might have made you clean out the stables."
Micheal just glared at the two of us before leaving the room, no doubt looking forward to his after-dinner activities.
(Shortly after Percy and Annabeth died)
Poseidon's POV
What did I do? I stood by as my son killed himself. I didn't even try to stop him!
"Poseidon," Athena said as she approached me,"Don't beat yourself up. What could you have done?"
"I'm sorry," I whispered, and I really meant it. I hadn't been the only one to lose a child tonight. Annabeth had been murdered by a son of Ares.
"We should have seen it, I'm the Goddess of Wisdom, I should have known what Ares was planning. I should have been on my guard. I don't know why Hecate agreed to help him."
"I don't know anything, except that I failed him. I allowed Ares to ruin his life." I said.
"POSEIDON!" Athena shouted at me causing me to jump to my senses.
"WHAT!"
"WHY ARE WE YELLING?" Apollo asked as he entered the room, as usual when he wasn't wanted.
He was quickly removed from the room when a jet of water pushed him out. Hmm, I have no idea where that came from.
"Stop whistling," Athena commanded while fighting a smile.
I stopped.
"Don't you have another son?" She asked, taking me by surprise.
"What?" I asked trying to feign surprise.
"Don't try to fool me Seaweed. I'm the Goddess of Wisdom remember?"
"You're point?" I asked as I reclined in my throne.
"I know he isn't Percy, but if you're feeling so guilty about Percy's death, then maybe you should watch over the kid, maybe make sure that nothing like this happens again. "
"Maybe," I said, seriously thinking about it. If I had paid more attention, I might have seen what Ares was up to and stopped it before it was too late.
My thoughts were interrupted by Zeus flashing in, followed by the rest of the Gods.
"We are under attack; the Titans are rising again."
