Day 87- Nemesis
19:38, 12 April 2017
Yuri – Erza-San, do you know where to come?
Me - Uh, 5th avenue at the dorm, right?
Yuri – Yep, should I come and pick you up?
Me – It's alright. I can come on my own.
Yuri – Okay then, see you in an hour.
Me – Yes!
--
Since there was another hour left before I took off for the concert, I decided to make lunch for Jellal. Meredy listed that he likes Croquettes, Onigiri and Cabbage rolls. I know I'm not a good cook but when you have the recipe, ingredients and tools, why hesitate, right? After all, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.
I began cooking and to be frank, it was going well. Once, my mom told me that the food tastes good if you make it while thinking about the person you love. So, even if my dishes are not restaurant-type, it will at least taste good because the entire time I kept thinking of Jellal.
I had texted him and he said he would come because his lessons were cut short today. I was more than excited and I tried to keep my heart from going haywire. Making something like this for Jellal gave me a feeling of being his wife.
I imagined him walking through the door and saying, "I'm home." And then I would shyly walk over to him and say, in a soft, cute voice, "Welcome home."
Ah...it all seems so perfect.
I placed the dishes on the table and rechecked everything if it was in the perfect place. When just then, the bell rang. I was dazed for a moment realizing how quick Jellal was to come home. Without any more delay, I ran towards the door, straightened my hair and opened the door.
"Jellal-Kun--"
But it was not him that stood at my front door. It was Yuri.
"Yuri? What are you...?"
"I'm sorry to intrude like this, Erza-San, I know you said you would come but I still thought of picking you up." He smiled innocently.
"Oh...Is that so..."
"Ah, don't tell me you're busy with something? I'm sorry to disturb you!" He deeply bowed.
"N-no, please, come in." I wholly opened the door and he entered. He removed his shoes and placed his coat on the rack.
"You have a cute house, Erza-San." He said.
"Thank you." I walked him over to the living room.
"And smells good." He laughed.
"Ah, I just happened to make a few things for Jellal." I timidly stated.
"Your boyfriend?" He asked for confirmation and I nodded.
"He really is lucky to have such a girl by his side."
"Eh?"
"Nothing," He chuckled. "Do you mind if we have lunch together, Erza-San?"
"N-no, not at all." I fidgeted with my hands and turned around to go to the kitchen, however, the bell rang again and I shot right out of the living room to the front door.
This time, I was certain it was going to be Jellal. My heart said so, too.
And, I was right. As soon as I opened the door—a little too forcefully in excitement—Jellal stood across me in his casual clothes (yet, he appeared so gorgeous like a fallen angel)
"Jellal-Kun..." I dreamily said.
"Hi."
I took a few steps back and he entered. He closed the door behind him and removed his shoes. But he noticed Yuri's pair as well and turned to me skeptically. "Is there a guest here?"
"Ah, it's just Yuri. The boss' son." I said.
He looked back at the pair of shoes that were like Jellal's; snickers, though, Jellal's were red and Yuri's, blue. However, he didn't say anything and just walked over to the living room.
Yuri greeted Jellal as soon as he appeared in front of him. "Nice to meet you, I'm Yuri." He bowed.
"Nice to meet you too," Jellal said, "I'm--"
"You're Jellal, right? Erza-San's boyfriend?"
I suddenly blushed and coyly chuckled at the sudden statement. Jellal shot a glance at me and walked over to the kitchen where I was sure, he had smelled his favorite dishes.
"Ah!" I rushed to him, "Jellal-Kun, I made all your favorites today. Yuri, why don't you join as well?"
"I can? I mean, is it okay?" He cutely asked.
"Of course, come on." I gestured him to take his seat. I sat beside Jellal and Yuri sat across me. I began serving to Jellal first and then Yuri.
"How is it, Jellal-Kun?" I asked eagerly.
"I didn't even start eating yet." He picked up the croquette and took a bite from it. I patiently waited for his reaction. He then looked at me and nodded, "It's delicious."
At once, my heart burst into fragrant petals. I was the happiest person on this planet in just a few seconds.
"Yuri, aren't you eating?" I asked because he hadn't even touched his chopsticks yet.
"Ah, yes," He quickly picked up the cabbage roll and took a big bite. His reaction wasn't like Jellal. His eyes grew wide, sparkling a little and his cheeks tinted red patches. "It's...It's really delicious, Erza-San!"
"Thank you very much." I smiled and picked up my bowl of rice and began eating. I was happy that the food I made was appetizing. In less than fifteen minutes, the table was smacked clean, leaving only empty bowls with leftover morsels.
After eating, Yuri reminded me that we were getting late for the concert. Jellal looked at me incredulously and waited for me to explain.
"Ah, Jellal-Kun, me and Yuri are going to The Blue Riders concert."
"Is that so?" He looked at Yuri.
"Yes...Would you like to come?"
"No, thanks." He turned around and began walking to the front door.
"Why not?" I ran behind him.
"I don't like concerts."
"Oh..." He stopped to wear his shoes and looked up at me. "Have fun."
I sadly nodded. Yuri was right behind me since I noticed Jellal looking at him while wearing his shoes.
"Then, see you." Jellal placed a hand on my head and smiled faintly. I blushed and nodded again, this time exhilaration overlapping sadness. We really felt like a happily married couple.
Promptly, Jellal left.
I turned back to Yuri as the door clicked shut. "We should leave as well--"
"I'm sorry, Erza-San, but is it okay if we don't go to the concert today?"
"Eh? What is Yuri, are you not feeling well?" He looked kind of dull suddenly. Don't tell me...it was because of my food! Did he get food poisoning? Well, he did eat a lot without complaining anything but...
"No, I mean, yes, I—uh, I'm not feeling good--"
"Was it my food?!"
"N-no! Your food was delicious! Trust me! It's just that my dad messaged me that my mom was sick...So, I have to buy some medicines for her..."
"Ah, is that so...?" I felt bad for Yuri and his mom but mostly for Yuri because he was looking forward to going to the concert with me.
"Yes, I'm really sorry, Erza-San!" He bowed deeply again.
"No, it's alright, Yuri. You should go and take care of your mom." I said with a cheerful face. I didn't want him to think that I was disappointed or anything. I was not. "Besides, concerts happen all the time so your priority should be your mother."
"Yes...Thank you for understanding, Erza-San." He tried to smile. Yuri wasn't the type to have the dejected aura surrounding him but seeing him like this now, it breaks my heart.
"Is there anything I can help you with, though?" I asked.
"No, I will leave now. Thank you for the food." Yuri wore his shoes and left without looking back.
I sighed, mulling over how things suddenly turned out to be and went to the kitchen to clear the messy table. However, there was another ring at my door.
Perplexed of who it could be this time, I placed the bowls in the sink and jogged to the door. I thought of opening it but I didn't have to because there was a blue envelope sitting on the floor near the door. I reasoned it would have been the mail-man and didn't bother checking outside.
I picked up the envelope but noticed that there was no name or address.
Strange, I thought and opened it thoughtlessly. There was something written in a blue letter. Something that made alarmed me to the core.
The person who wrote didn't mention his or her name but judging from the handwriting and the way the letter was written, I'm guessing it was a girl.
The letter went like this.
To, Erza Scarlet.
Hello, fiend. I know you might be thinking who I am and why so suddenly you received such a letter but it's useless to ponder about it because I positively won't tell you anything. But if you're a genius then there's a slight possibility that you might figure it out soon. I doubt that, though.
Anyway, enough with the talks. I'm only sending this letter to you to WARN you.
Stay away from Jellal! Don't you try to act like you're his girlfriend because he doesn't belong to you! He belongs to me and only me and if I see him coming out of your house one more time, I will kidnap him and hide him forever! And don't think that I won't do it and that this is just some prank because I will.
Calling the police can be proved fatal for you and him, so don't even think about it!
I will see to it that you don't get to have Jellal anymore. I'm always watching.
Your, Nemesis.
P.S. If you tell Jellal about this letter, you won't be there to tell your future kids that there was a villain in your life.
I shivered. My mind went blank and I felt goosebumps pricking my body like cold needles. I wanted to call Jellal immediately and show him the letter but that would be risky...This person already threatened me and one wrong move can put Jellal and me in danger...
What should I do now...?
