Diplomacy or deception?The Council of Neutral Systemsspeaks for over 1,500 worldswho want to stay out of the war.But rumors have reachedthe Republic Senatesuggesting that the Council's new leader,Duchess Satine of Mandalore,is secretly building her own armyto fight for the Separatist cause.Now Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobihas been sent to Mandaloreto discover the truth behind these claims.But he finds out more then he bargained for.

Roxanne's POV

Mum's going to kill me for being late. She was having a special guest from Coruscant and wanted me there. "I'm sorry I'm late mum" I say as I enter the throne room. "I was talking to the girls lost track of time" I state.

"Roxanne" a man says and I turn to see Master Obi-wan. My father.

"Mum, why is he here?" I ask her trying to keep my emotions in check.

"He is here to investigate the rumors my daughter" she tells me. "Master Kenobi, allow me to introduce my daughter Roxanne Kryze" she says.

"A pleasure to meet a jedi" I say with a curtsy.

"I was not aware you had a daughter" he says looking at my mother.

"Where is this prisoner now?" the prime minister asks Obi-wan. Changing the subject. Thank you I think as I go stand on my mother's right.

"He took his own life rather than submit to questioning. I know these commandos fought in many wars, often against the Jedi" Obi-wan states.

"Every one of my people is as trustworthy as I am" my mother tells him defensively.

"I'm sure he meant no offense mum" I tell her.

"I know we sound defensive, but..." Merrick starts to say.

"Clearly, your investigation was ordered because the Senate is eager to intervene in our affairs" mum states.

"My investigation was ordered by the Jedi Council" Obi-wan corrects her.

"I stand corrected" mum says. "General Kenobi, perhaps you'd like to join my daughter and I on a walk through the city" she suggests offering him her hand. He steps forward accepting it and we leave.

"Sorry about this surprise Master Obi-wan, I'm surprised the Jedi Council sent you" I state.

"As I am surprised to see you're here" he states. "When you said you were from a neutral planet, I had no idea you meant Mandalore" he states.

"It's a close guarded secret" I tell him.

"It's so good to see you again, Obi-Wan, despite the circumstances. Thank you for taking care of my daughter during her training" mum tells him.

"Your peaceful ways have paid off. Mandalore has prospered since the last time I was here" he states looking around. Ignoring the elephant in the room.

"Not everyone on Mandalore believes that our commitment to peace is a sign of progress. There is a group that calls itself Death Watch. I imagine these are the renegades you're looking for. They idolize violence and the warrior ways of the past" mum explains. "There are those among us, certain officials, who are working to root out these criminals. It has been an ongoing investigation" she states.

"Why am I just now hearing about this mum?" I ask her shocked. Is this the rumored group Qui-Gon told me about. Mum ignores me as Obi-wan asks her how widespread Death Watch is.

"It's hardly a movement. It's a small group of hooligans who choose to vandalize public places,nothing more. We shall soon have them in custody. We have tracked them down to our moon, Concordia" mum tells him.

"I hope you're right Duchess" he says. "I believe there is something else we must discuss" he adds looking at me.

"We'll discuss that later" mum tells him.

"I gotta go mum, I promised to meet the girls" I lie. I'm meeting Qui-Gon.

"Of course dear, remember be home in time for dinner. There is much to discuss" she tells me.

"I know, see you later mum. Love you, a pleasure to meet you Master Obi-wan" I say with a curtsy. Before leaving them. I go to my room and change clothes. Before going to meet Qui-gon.

"You're late" he says when I reach the fountain.

"Sorry, a member of the Jedi council is here" I tell him.

"Oh, is it for your decision?" he asks me.

"No, well maybe. But the main reason is to investigate Death Watch" I state and he stiffens. "You know of them?" I ask.

"Father may of mentioned them" he mutters.

"Are they a threat to my mum?" I ask him.

"I don't know" he tells me. "You know I'm trying to start a new life and to stay out of trouble" he reminds me.

"Right" I say.

"So which Jedi is here?" he asks me curious.

"My master" I tell him.

"Oh awkward" he says.

"To say the least" I tell him. "I have no idea how he's going to react to the truth" I state.

"Who cares" he tells me. I give him a look. "Look we've gotten to know each other well over the last few weeks. I'd like to think we're friends. I know you've always wanted a dad, but he was your master first and you know how he feels about the Jedi code" he reminds me.

"You're right" I say sadly. He places a hand on my shoulder.

"It'll be ok" he assures me. "You have your mum, Korkie, your friends and me" he states. I give him a small smile. Suddenly we hear an explosion. "What was that?" he asks shocked.

"I don't know" I tell him honestly. "Oh no" I say when I see smoke in the distance. Suddenly my com-link went off. "Roxanne here" I say.

"Roxanne, there's been an attack by Death Watch" Obi-wan states.

"Is my mum alright?" I ask him concerned.

"She's fine, we're going to Concordia" he states.

"I'll meet you at the hanger" I state before ending the communication. "I gotta go" I tell Qui-gon.

"I know, be careful. From what I've heard, Death Watch is no joke" he tells me.

"I'll be fine" I assure him. Before leaving. I head to the hanger and board the ship. "You ok mum?" I ask.

"I'm fine, though I'd feel happier if you weren't coming along" she states.

"No more secrets" I tell her and she nods her head. We head to the bridge and meet Obi-wan. They talk about the Concordia before we landed. We're meet by Governor Vizsla and mum does the introductions. Before he left to attend to the body.

Obi-wan gives mum an ear piece. Telling us to keep the governor occupied at dinner. While he investigated one of the old mines. Mum agreed reluctantly and he left.

(Time skip to dinner)

Mum and the governor are talking about Death Watch. "The problem has clearly grown much larger than we thought, and I suspect some external force helped it along" mum states.

"My money is on Dooku" I tell her.

"Hard to believe" the governor states.

"Not really, the Separatists are always looking for more allies to their course" I tell him. "Though, why target my mother?" I muse out loud.

"She does lead the Council of Neutral Systems. Thus she threatens the Separatists' goals" he states. "Take it as a compliment. Someone very powerful is working towards your downfall" he tells my mother.

"Well they'd have to go through me first" I state.

"Roxanne" mum says firmly.

"Sorry mum" I say.

"General Kenobi's meditation is taking a rather long time" he states.

"They can meditate for hours" I tell him shrugging.

"May I offer you another drink?" he asks my mother.

"Yes, certainly" she says.

"Sorry Duchess, we're out of ice" he states.

"Sorry to hear that" she says.

"Perhaps we should begin dinner without General Kenobi" he suggests.

"Sounds good to me, I'm hungry" I tell him.

"I don't know if I can do that at the moment" mum states.

"Are you not feeling well, Duchess?" the governor asks her concerned.

"Perhaps some fresh air would do me good, come along Roxanne" mum says as she heads for the door.

"Shall I escort you both outside?" the governor asks.

"We'll be fine" I assure him. Before leaving with mum. We get on a speeder and follow the tracking device on the com-link. "Obi-wan in danger?" I ask and she nods her head. "Looks like I have to save him again" I mutter.

"Where exactly are you?" mum asks Obi-wan.

"Listen for the loud, metallic, clanging sound. That would be the machine about to smash me into bits" Obi-wan states.

"I hear it, this way" I tell mum leading the way. We soon reach the room. After setting off an alarm. "I'll watch your back, you turn off the machine" I tell mum. She nods and heads over to the controls.

"Certainly took you both long enough" he states.

"You know, we haven't saved you yet" mum tells him as she reaches the controls.

"Yea, no need to remind me of that" he mutters.

"Just be patient master" I tell him.

"I happen to be a bit short on patience right now" he tells me. "Satine, turn the machine off!" he shouts as he gets closer to the crusher.

"I'm trying" she tells him.

"Mum" I say concerned and she turns the machine off just in time.

"Look out!" Obi-wan shouts and I notice that Death Watch had returned. They go to attack my mum.

"Oh no you don't" I say and kick the closest one. Before blocking the other's path to my mother. "You want her, you have to go through me" I sneer getting into my fighting stance. We start to fight and Obi-wan joins in as the other guy tried to grab my from behind. We slam them into the wall before getting into the elevator.

"For a man sworn to peace, you take an unseemly pleasure in the injuries of others" mum says.

"For a woman sworn to non-violence, you don't seem troubled that I could have been killed back there" he states.

"Honestly, grow up. I'm supposed to be the immature one here" I remind them. The elevator doors open and Obi-wan knocks out a guard. "This isn't the way we got in" I state. Just then we noticed other members of Death Watch aiming their guns at us and Obi-wan tries to shut the door. With no luck.

We take cover as Obi-wan said we'd have to fight. I nod my head in agreement. Drawing my light-saber. "You know that could of be useful earlier" he tells me.

"I forgot I had it" I say sheepishly. "See you lost yours" I say with a smirk and he rolls his eyes. He summons a gun to his hand and starts to fire at the ones in the air. While I deflect blast shoots. He deals with them and is blinded by smoke. When it clears, he's attacked. Mum distracts the man, giving Obi-wan time to knock him out.

"Satine! Roxanne!" he shouts worried.

"We're fine" we assure him. We notice four men approaching us while the others evacuated. One of the men kill the one that just lost to Obi-wan. He tells me to stay with my mum as he approaches the men. The leader turned out to be the Governor.

"For generations, my ancestors fought proudly as warriors against the Jedi. Now that woman and her brat tarnish the very name Mandalorian" he states. He tosses Obi-wan his light saber. "Defend them, if you will" he says. He then draws his own light saber. "This light saber was stolen from your Jedi Temple by my ancestors during the fall of the Old Republic. Since then, many Jedi have died upon its blade" he explains activating the black blade. "Prepare yourself to join them" he says and they begin to fight.

I really wanted to help. But it was against the law to intervene on a challenge. I can only pray that Obi-wan wins. We watch in silence as Obi-wan gains the upper hand. "Warriors, finish him" the governor orders. They fire their missiles at him.

"Satine, Roxanne" he shouts heading for the elevator shaft. We jump down it and dodge the missiles. Obi-wan covering my mother with his body as a shield. We then head back to the speeders.

"I suppose we're even now" mum states.

"Oh, how so?" he asks her.

"I saved your life, you saved mine" she states.

"Yes, well, mine was the more daring of the two rescues" he states.

"Man, how were you two ever a couple?" I ask them.

"It's complicated" mum mutters.

"Is she my..." Obi-wan starts to ask her.

"Like you have to ask, it's obvious she is" mum states.

"I know the three of us have a lot to talk about. You two more then me, but we have to deal with Death Watch first" I tell them.

"She's right" Obi-wan agrees. We return home. Where we cleaned up and grabbed my bite to eat. Before meeting Merrick and the prime minister.

"But if Pre Vizsla fled, we have no way of learning how widespread Death Watch really is" Merrick states.

"It's obvious the Separatists are supporting the Death Watch" Obi-wan states.

"I disagree. I told you I wanted to stay out of this conflict" mum reminds him.

"Given the current situation, I'm afraid that may no longer be possible" Obi-wan tells her.

"I thought you of all people would understand my position on this matter. I will never be a part of this war" mum tells him matter of factly before leaving. As Anakin appears with Rex, Cody and some troopers.

"Reporting for escort duty, General. Nice to see you again Roxanne" he says.

"A pleasure to see you again" I say with a smile.

"Oh. Anakin, am I glad to see you" Obi-wan states.

"You sound tired" Anakin states with a chuckle.

"The peaceful ways of the locals wore me out a bit" Obi-wan tells him as we board the ship.

"Are you returning to battle commander?" Rex asks me.

"For now, yes" I tell him. "My mother may not be about of this war, but I am. I want to find Death Watch and bring them to justice" I state. "But for now, I'll be undercover. No one can know I'm a padawan learner" I tell them.

"Sure thing Roxanne, Ahsoka misses you" Anakin tells me.

"I miss her, I missed all of you" I state smiling. "Remember address me as Princess Roxanne or just Roxanne" I tell them. Just then a guard appears. "I must go, thank you for escorting us General Kenobi and Skywalker" I say before leaving with the guard. Who escorts me to my and my mother's shared room. I thanked him before he left me in peace.
