00:21, 2 August 2022When you got home, you were still thinking about Robin. You never thought about himโ so it was unusual for you. But, it was also unusual for him to worry about you. You were confused to say the least, not knowing if he actually meant it or was joking about it.
You took a shower, brushed your teeth and buried yourself deep in your bed covers, wanting the thoughts to go away.
The next day, you walked to school. Stopping to get some snacks, if you were going to be in detention, you would rather not starve to death in there.
Everything was normal. You and Robin ignored each other, just like any other day. You don't know why you thought today would be different.
The last bell rang, signifying that school was over. Yay, detentionโ you thought sarcastically to yourself, trudging through the hallways to get to the classroom. You planned to hang out in the corner of the room, secretly eat your snacks and count down the minutes till detention ended. You would ignore Robin, and do your own thing.
You sat down at the desk, it was just you. The teacher eyed you skeptically before looking back down at her book. You silently ate your snacks, making sure not to be too loud when doing so. You knew the teacher would either throw them out or would confiscate them and would probably eat them later.
Robin came in shortly later, the Teacher lecturing him about being late. Robin rolled his eyes before sitting a few desks down from you, lightly drumming his fingers against the desk.
Detention went by faster this time, no arguing or talking. The both of you did your own thing, ignoring one another. It was perfect. If the rest of the week could go like this, maybe detention wouldn't be so bad after all.
Or so you thought.
"Heyโ let me walk you home?" Robin spoke from behind you, grabbing your forearm to spin you around. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. "No thanks."
"C'mon, it's dark out here. Don't want you getting kidnapped or something."
"I don't need your pity." You mumbled, ripping your arm from his grasp to walk away.
"Pity?" He questioned, catching up to you. He blocked your path, stopping you from moving forward.
"Are you deaf, Arellano?" You sighed, trying to push past him but he blocks your path once again. He shakes his head, a frown appearing on his face. "I'm being serious. Why can't we just let this pointless rivalry go?"
"Pointless rivalry?" You mock, shifting all your weight onto one foot.
"Just for tonight... look at how dark it is!" He reasoned, looking up at the dark sky.
It was dark. Way darker than yesterday. The fact scared you. So maybe, you'll let him walk you home. Only tonight.
"Whatever." You mumbled, pushing past him. This time he doesn't block your path, walking beside you quietly.
It was a silent walk. Robin would make random comments to shift the mood, but it didn't. It kept the mood the same.
You guys finally arrive at your house, stopping in front of the gate. You shifted on your two feet, trying to figure out the words to say. Should you thank him? Should you just walk inside and not say anything?
"I still hate you." You mumble, opening your gate.
"Fine, continue to act like you hate me." He huffs, staring at the weeds growing around the gate.
"I'm not acting. I actually hate you." You say, closing the gate behind you. You face him, the gate being a barrier between the two of you.
He frowns at you, rubbing the nape of his neck. "Okay." He gives you one last look before walking away, heading the same direction you guys came from.
You watched him until he spun around, giving you a two finger salute. You scrunched your face up, turning to walk up the stairs of your house.
At least you got home safe.
