the night before leaving for japan, you couldn't sleep.

you were sitting on the balcony, looking at the beach that was just some meters away.

your mind was filled with thoughts that you couldn't stop.

you didn't know where the random thoughts of marriage came from.

you started telling yourself it was because you were close to thirty, and you felt the need to get married and start a family.

never once did you feel that way before meeting kento; you swore you'd be just fine if you grew old with no one by your side.

yet, something in you was begging you to jump to the next steps with him— even when you hadn't hit the two years mark.

simply because you knew he was the love of your life.

but, on the other hand, you wanted to bask in the small life you had created as a couple— without rushing anything.

you run a hand through your hair with a sigh, making a mental note to discuss it with him when morning arrived.

that, without knowing he was awake and walking towards the balcony.

"sweetheart?"

"did i wake you? i'm sorry—"

"you didn't. the bed was colder without you" he said, wrapping his arms around you.

you stayed silent, your body relaxing against his.

"what's bothering you, my love?"

"don't worry about it! we can discuss it in the morning"

"i can't have you going to bed with a burdened mind"

he picked you up and carried you inside, before laying you on the bed. he laid next to you, his arms immediately coming to wrap around you again.

"if you don't tell me what's wrong, i won't be able to help you..."

"it's just... i've been thinking about marriage lately"

you felt his body stiffen against yours, and you were met with absolute silence. hesitantly, you raised your head to look at him.

"you don't have to say it; i know! it's too soon and we haven't even talked about something like that"

"i just... i don't know. call it a close-to-thirty crisis!" you quickly added.

a small chuckle left his lips, as he placed a kiss on your nose;

"i don't know about crises like this, but..."

"i hope we'll get married eventually"
